- wannapiece, on 07/31/2008, -13/+111My favorite is when he mentions the "Iraq - Pakistan Border"
What a disgrace... - tomdurkin, on 08/01/2008, -12/+105Maybe McBush can have a town hall meeting on the Florida-Illinois border.
- waverleo, on 08/01/2008, -12/+86Why would McCain approve a blatantly dishonest campaign ad? Does this mean he'd be a dishonest President, too?
- swrostmore, on 08/01/2008, -10/+66McCain's strategists know the ad was dishonest. It's part of their strategy. In order to counteract Obama's fundraising advantage, they are cutting corners on airtime - instead of paying millions of dollars to air ads nationally, they buy the absolute minimum of airtime and run an ad which is inflammatory enough that the national media has to "cover" it, therefore amplifying it over and over again at no cost to the campaign as different pundits replay and "discuss" the ad's content.
- Izzardo, on 08/01/2008, -7/+52"My husband is absolutely opposed to any negative campaigning at all."
"At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you *****."
They are such a cute pair! - deepseas, on 08/01/2008, -10/+51This McCain ad is low and disrespectful to a presidential candidate to equate him with celebrity airheads. McCain needs to apologize to Obama, stop these horrid ads and start acting like a presidential candidate himself. It is obvious he has no platform and has resorted to throwing sand in the sandbox like a bully who cannot play fair. This is not the character of a president we need.
I'm embarrassed for McCain. Truly embarrassed and ashamed the world sees the kind of people we have running our country and trying to run it. Disgraceful. - ileen4justice, on 08/01/2008, -8/+46go to www.factcheck.org
- richirwin, on 08/01/2008, -8/+40I think we need to make George W. Bush hit the campaign trail for his boy, John McCain.
During the Bush administration, Congressional Quarterly gave McCain a 90% score for "party unity," making him an even more reliable GOP water-carrier than fellow Arizonan John Kyl, the #2 ranking Republican in the Senate. The Washington Post similarly gave him a score of 88.3%, tying him with South Carolina's Lindsey Graham ahead of 29 other Senate Republicans.
According to CQ, Senator John McCain has voted with President Bush 100% of the time in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007:
100%? 95% 90%? 88.3%?
Does this sounds like a "maverick" or just another republican?
McCain also says that he will not try to distance himself from Bush - "I will not try to separate myself from him."
So it sounds like he doesn't mind being joined at this hip with George W. Bush. Yet, when referred to as "The Third Bush Term" McCain bristles and attempts to invoke Jimmy Carter (from 30 years ago, much as he tried to invoke William Jennings Bryan from 110 years ago, the days of McCain's youth, no doubt).
Sen. McCain, if you don't want to be "separated" from Bush, why do the comparisons bother you so much?
And if the comparisons bother you so much, why do you vote with Bush and his administration 100% of the time in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007?
McCain - The Third Bush Term. - KennMac, on 08/01/2008, -7/+36It's quite interesting, that the footage the ad uses to show Obama "visting the gym" is actually footage taken by the military television crew of Obama VISITING THE TROOPS. That's some serious fail by the McCain campaign.
- z28com, on 08/01/2008, -5/+33I am a Republican who wants to vote for Obama. What's wrong with this picture?
- kevinc526, on 08/01/2008, -11/+35Didnt he realize he would get caught lying? We cant let him get away with this sort of thing.
- ThePwnyExpress, on 08/01/2008, -8/+32the straight talk express derailed a good while ago
- tcbishop12, on 08/01/2008, -9/+32The unfortunate reality is, fact-checking mind-numbingly stupid ads like McCain's is largely beside the point. Of course the ads are ridiculous. Of course they're an example of cowardice from a campaign too afraid to engage in a substantive debate. And of course the McCain campaign is lying.

And let’s get a count on how many McCain ideas and policies McCain's ads advance! Uhm…zero.
Obama, speaking to reporters outside a diner in Lebanon, MO, at first did not answer a question about the newest ad (McCain's celebrity debacle, not the troops one, which has been debunked). Then Sen. Obama said, "You know, I don't pay attention to John McCain's ads, although I do notice he doesn't seem to have anything to say very positive about himself. He seems to only be talking about me. You need to ask John McCain what he's for and not just what he's against," he said.
Sen. Obama is right. It seems to me McCain's ads tell us very little about Obama, and a whole lot about the pathetic shell of a man McCain has become. - hellahyphy, on 08/01/2008, -0/+21Honestly, I don't know what either party stands for anymore. I'm voting for a candidate not a party.
- pwner, on 08/01/2008, -12/+31If Obama is Paris Hilton with a tan, McCain is Miss South Carolina with white hair.
- Mr602, on 08/01/2008, -7/+25Being someone whose family supported you monetarily and through fund raisers in your first run for office here in Arizona; and who subsequently through your actions and short temper, dropped our support for you, believe that your current actions show your true side that is bitter, hypocritical and bottom line only trying to further your true agenda of shameless self promotion. Your spurious insults of Barrack Obama, show your small minded character that ran for office in six states(!) before finally being elected in Arizona. Go ahead, keep the 'straight talk'(double speak) coming and you will certainly be exposed as the vain, short-sighted, low-minded hypocrite that you are. We can only pray that your days in public office are shortly numbered.
- wishninja, on 08/01/2008, -4/+21well yea -duh he is a neo-con after all.
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -6/+22for shame
- ibeetle, on 08/01/2008, -6/+21Not only is this ad poorly researched in fact checking, but another ad that McCain has running that tries to make Obama out to be some sort of "one of them" celebrities "out of touch with american values".
In the ad it shows a picture of Obama with a picture of Pairs Hilton and a Picture of Britney Spears.
Get this... wait for it... guess who is a McCain supporter to the tune of $50,000 campaign contrabution?... the Hilton family. And Ms. Spears has also gone on record as being a Republican. Although she has not publicly come out in support of McCain.
So, this ad is not only attacking Obama but two of McCain own supporters. - Groggie, on 08/01/2008, -2/+17Digg is not a representation of the entire country. It's just another demographic of 18-24 year old college kids and by no means an accurate extrapolation of the overall voting numbers.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 08/01/2008, -4/+16Am I the only one who never sees nor hears these ads until there is a supposed massive outcry about them?
- Funbox, on 08/01/2008, -3/+14I predict that you know nothing about politics or this election.
- tcbishop12, on 08/01/2008, -7/+18BS! John McCain is playing the "playing the race card" card!
- pswitzertatum, on 08/01/2008, -2/+11Very good analysis.
- noobifiggah, on 08/01/2008, -1/+10That's the most practical thing I've heard all day, and quite frankly, it points out what's wrong with a lot of American politics. It's way too often that Americans vote based solely on party affiliation, and not on the candidate himself/herself, even if the person is a terrible candidate.
- MrTito, on 08/01/2008, -1/+9I generally agree with hellahyphy. I lean Democrat, but they piss me of pretty regularly, too. They just haven't done as much egregious and dangerous rubber-stamping for President Bush (yet, anyway, but they get closer every day).
The party water carriers, especially on the Republican side, try to shame you when you support a candidate instead of the party. Hence their whole attack on Obama as "Messianic". It's a psychological ploy designed to make you feel bad for being a supporter of one person over their preferred collective groupthink. It's a rather pathetic sham on their part. - Loonacy, on 08/01/2008, -0/+8"Sereiously, on both sides, can we stop with the moronic puns and silly euphamistic names? "
Yes please. - zeusthemoose, on 08/01/2008, -3/+11You're so ***** retarded it hurts.
- PSotter, on 08/01/2008, -7/+15McCain is just the man we need to fix this banking crisis we are in!!! We should never have another catastrophic bank failure like the Savings and Loan scandal!!!!!
(Tongue firmly in cheek. google: "Savings and loan scandal Keating Five") - sublimemm, on 08/01/2008, -1/+9The only bad thing carter did was make it easier for reagan get to get elected.
- theaceoffire, on 08/01/2008, -0/+7*Why McCain and Obama?
Because one of them will be president.
99.9% positive on this. - Fanboy88, on 08/01/2008, -14/+21McCain is not presidential material. He is like a child.
- enclaved, on 08/01/2008, -1/+8Reading your comment made me wonder if McCain is just being an ***** so he can deliver a heartfelt apology and denounce his formerly wicked ways to look like the 'nice reformed guy' girls end up dating at the end of movies but then as soon as the cameras are off you know he turns back into a douchewaffle.
- OstrakonX, on 08/01/2008, -1/+8Sure, he'd get caught. And it'll be posted all over the internet. But it's not on CNN or Fox news. I wonder why?
Oh, wait. It's because CNN and Fox are owned by corporations. Corporations that would benefit heavily from a third Bush term.
The mainstream media won't report on this until it's advantageous to them. In other words, as long as people keep watching, and not get outraged enough to boycott them, they'll keep not reporting about things that actually happen. - Whackly, on 08/01/2008, -3/+9Sereiously, on both sides, can we stop with the moronic puns and silly euphamistic names? McBush? Dumb-o-crap? Rape-ublican? All of that ***** has got to go. It seems to me that I would resort to that sort of thing when I was 9 and lacked the faculty to form cogent arguments.
It was funny when I was nine.. and then it was still funny when used ironically when I was a teenager. Now it's not funny anymore. Everytime I see it I'm reminded of Rush Limbaugh. - Urbalist, on 08/01/2008, -3/+9Pssst, do something !!!!
- RichardSwingman, on 08/01/2008, -1/+7"Ill show you...when the chips are down, these civilized people...will eat each other"
- hterrya, on 08/01/2008, -3/+9Sen. McCain shares a failing that Sen. Clinton showed in her primary campaign. McCain knows this is his LAST opportunity to be President. He will lie, steal, make slimy ads like this one, or do ANYTHING to be President. He has given up any integrity he ever had to make this run. People who vote for him deserve the immoral, dishonest president he will be. It will just be four more years of the seven and a half years we have already suffered through of immorality, dishonesty, and criminal, unconstitutional behavior of the current corrupt, criminal administration.
- wastelander, on 08/01/2008, -1/+7It derailed, rolled over, caught fire, exploded and the the charred remains were eaten by pigs who were then butchered and left to rot in the Arizona sun until finally bagged up and left in a toxic waste dump.
- sulthernao, on 08/01/2008, -3/+9He says vote for me cuz I'm black?
- wannapiece, on 07/31/2008, -3/+9http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC0Y7zMcn_4
- thesheqq, on 08/01/2008, -1/+6wouldn't let me sign
- richirwin, on 08/01/2008, -3/+8Carter >>> W
- Gonthim, on 08/01/2008, -1/+6I'm curious, but does this mean you don't think the ad is a bunch of crap? From what I've heard, everyone who was there says it's completely fabricated. This isn't about free speech, since the government isn't trying to regulate anything. It's about the democrats calling McCain out on an ad they feel is lying about their candidate.
- Stavrosian, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5I remember watching the footage on the BBC. As I recall, the troops were cajoling him into taking a shot, so he sort of modestly stepped up and did so, took the applause gracefully and that was that.
***** elitist *****. - kingnothing1, on 08/01/2008, -2/+7Very good website. Thanks for the link.
- skeptik, on 08/01/2008, -5/+10I am surprised that McCain, who promised to run an "issues" based campaign has resorted to character assassination. Worse is that he chose to compare a distinguished U.S Senator to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. That is laughable, but sad. Is name calling all he has to offer? I can only conclude that he thinks that Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are "issues of merit". That itself is an inditement of McCain's judgement.
It makes him look like he has a giant case of sour grapes at Obama's success in Europe. To me it looks like he is a jealous little kid who is raging at not winning a popularity contest. I think that speaks to the underlying character of Mr. McCain. - phike, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5Go to urban dictionary and look up the several definitions of "bombing". It doesn't have to be taken in the literal sense.
As for "57 states," I would like to see some proof of this, never heard that Obama mispeach.
Oh, and btw.....McCain's mistakes ARE much worse, for mispeaking is different than having to be corrected by other people for not knowing the difference between Sunni's and Shiites (and the list with McCain goes on and on, especially when it deals with geography and foreign affairs). - kabes, on 08/01/2008, -10/+15McFail.
- curtislwalker, on 08/01/2008, -5/+10I remember as a young man gathering around a Black and White TV to watch McCain land and walk off that plane after being released with tears in my eyes (and remember, I was a teenage then). What honor! Now McCain has proven he has NO HONOR or INTEGRITY left. I was not going to vote for McCain anyway, but what a disappointment!
