- r81984, on 11/09/2007, -25/+134Clinton was impeached for lying about getting head, bid deal! That impeachment was a waste of money and time.
Bush lied about factors that cause us a war and death of Americans, Why is he not impeached yet??? - bbatsell, on 10/12/2007, -16/+110@rejectpenguin:
MSNBC is biased? That's news to me. Olbermann was just as critical of Clinton during Monicagate, which leads me to believe that he criticizes what he sees as wrongs perpetrated by those in power, rather than an allegiance to a particular party. - cheez, on 10/12/2007, -11/+72this is not an indication of msnbc bias. this segment is clearly an editorial. i do not consider fox news EDITORIAL bias to be a bad thing, but the problem is when they make something out to be fact and report it with bias
- ryland2, on 10/12/2007, -17/+78Finally someone had the balls to say this,I have a new level of respect for Olberman, he could not have been more true
- bbatsell, on 10/12/2007, -12/+60Clinton lied because he didn't want to hurt his legacy. He was very wrong and he apologized for it later. I'm still waiting to hear Mr Bush's apologies for his lies and mistakes.
- bullish1, on 10/12/2007, -9/+49It's called an editorial. Look it up in the dictionary.
- jbsnyder, on 10/12/2007, -10/+35@BassCadet
First off, props if the name refers to the Autechre EP.
Second off: you're wrong, flat out wrong about this "dividing the country" crap. The largest problem that we have today in politics is that everyone plays towards the middle, unless someone does something really out of line. Now is the time to be openly critical of Bush, now is the time to get the country behind that side of the bandwagon because he is hurting the US. Complaining about people "dividing" the country through comments like these is not a valid criticism. It's like criticizing Clinton over getting a slightly irate on FOX recently. There is nothing wrong with being passionate about something when change really needs to happen. The only time where you can simply come out and be critical of any statement like that is if what they're saying isn't true, but, with bias in mind, they're pointing out very legitimate flaws in the reasoning of those who support Bush, and who complain about "dividing" the country. Bush has done enough of that himself just by all the crap he's been illegitimately doing. End of story. - paulansorge, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31This is editorial journalism at its finest. It's heartfelt and passionate and the telling of truth as the journalist sees it. Whilst I'm sure that Bush supporters will attack this piece and all who appreciate it, I, for one, am relieved to see American journalists laying this argument out on national television.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Because its the truth. Get used to it.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -8/+32Oh, so Bush did a ton of stuff to prevent 9/11?
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -11/+35Wow. That's three articles ABOUT THE SAME THING hitting the Digg frontpage.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26And yet, I'm fine with it because I want people to see it..
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28"As a reporter you do not have the right to take a side, only report the unbiased truth." Guess this means Fox news needs to collectively be fired.
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Love how BassCadet states the problem and in the same post becomes a part of it.
- igotdugout, on 10/12/2007, -9/+30Now this guy, has ***** balls. Way to go Olbermann.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Go Olbermann! Finally a truth telling journalist!
The brainwashed republicans are out in force tonight, digging down all the pro Olbermann comments. They aren't used to being told truth. I was the same way, until I realized the media was in Bush's pocket from the get go. I understand why you Bush supporters are so shocked. You've been deceived all this time by the media, and hearing the truth spoken for once is shocking and emotionally upsetting. Don't worry, I know you guys will come around. A lot of people still supported Nixon until his impeachment. I have faith in humanity, and know that truth will prevail.
Till then, love the Bush supporters, for they know not what they do. - jayesbee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Olbermann is not a reporter. He's a commentator. Just like O'Reilly, Scarborough, Limbaugh, Hannity and Colmes, Carleson, Will, Dowd, Kristol, Buchannan--I could go on and on.
If this had opened the CBS Evening News or appeared on the front page of the NY Times, then heads would and should roll. Those are the proper venues for unbiased reporting. But reporting is only one aspect of journalism.
However, when Olbermann takes time from a show that bares his name, that clearly represents his point of view, prefacing his remarks, "Finally tonight, a special comment about President Clinton's interview," so that it is clear what follows is his opinion, this is also journalism.
You may not like what he says, but he is within his rights as a citizen and a journalist to say it. At least for now. - zodieman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24OMFG!!! FINALLY! A member of the press decides to tell it like it is. I'm saving this video for posterity. If there was a president so deserving of impeachment, look no further than the lying beady-eyed weasel sitting in the oval office. Flame away
- whisk3rs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20"To hear him bleat and whine and bully at nearly every opportunity, one would think someone else had been President on September 11th, 2001 -- or the nearly eight months that preceded it."
HERO
I can't believe we've got 3 more years to go with Bush & Co. - Okayyou, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27That's specious reasoning. Why not stand trial for a murder you didn't commit. If you didn't do it you have nothing to worry about.
- leeboski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Can anyone define "liberal" and "conservative". Then once you look it up, which are you? Most republicans who vote have only two things on there mind, abortion and gays. Social issues that can't be fixed by politics. Remember reading about "prohibition"? Didn't work did it. So lets quit killing babies, and burn the queers, I mean the witches, I think in our history we have done this before in the name of "conservative religion"? Salem, some few hundred years ago. Sure Clinton lied about having an affair, he did what any man would do when caught with his pants down. But who's pants where they, not ours, his and his wifes . Had nothing to do with running this country, hell I made a lot of money during the Clinton years. Then comes candidate Bush telling everyone the sky is falling and all of this money we are making isn't good, so people start believing the hype because He Found Jesus and this country needs a President who has morals.....so I guess that doesn't apply to Dick so he can do most of the lying for this useless sack of *****. Bill lied about sex. These scum bags hide behind the bible, take money from our enemies, put not only us at risk by GIVING the enemy all the ammo it needs to make the case that we are evil and must be destroyed, but our children's, children's too. Then have to stones to tell us that what the truth is is what we say it is. So which is worse, a whore chaser or a bold face lying idiot. I served in the U.S.M.C. for 8 years, fought in the first Gulf War. But what is happing to our military right now is disgraceful, some of these guys are on their 3rd deployment. It won't be long and you young ones will be getting drafted, all the while you hide behind "conservative thinking" here, you will be wishing you had looked up the meaning of "LIBERAL."

Poor is the Man whose Pleasures rest upon the Permission of another. - grooviekenn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19@ OswaldKenobi...
Didn't you listen? He did... he said that the past 3 or 4 presidency probably share some responsibility for the 9/11 attacks. - NOFXY, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22Honestly, at this point, i think its fair to verbally insult anyone who sides with Bush.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Guess what? If by your definition he is a complete partisan hack....
so are you! - JimDinger, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20And, what are you going to say about Bush? That he is better than Clinton?Things are going better for the USA cause of Bush?
If it were possible for Clinton to run for president agin,I bet a lot of people would vote for him and he would win,too bad he can't run again for president,he might turn this country around and put us in a posistion of power once again. - Black913Hole, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Id be in favor of that amendment, just to see him get crushed in the ensuing election. I guess the scary part is he probably would win again...
However, Clinton could also get re-elected for a 3rd term then. - brutalentropy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It's at -23 right now.
As long as diebold isn't counting the diggs, it'll probably keep going down
(yes, that was a joke...) - stardot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14There are some VERY good points in this editorial. I agree that it is harsh, it is a direct RIP-OFF of Edward R. Murrow's style and catch phase (good night and good luck). There are also some unwarranted digs at Bush. ( and some well deserved ones)
Nevertheless, we should consider the underlying message. (by the way, I am a Kennedy Democrat and a Reagan Republican, which is why Lieberman will have my vote next year)
It is becoming obvious that there is some sort of social manipulation going on by the Bush Administration. I don't know if I can put my finger on it, but if you choose to not believe the propoganda of either side, then what you are left with is a war that no one has a real grasp of, an unchecked terrorist outfit, and global push-back at Americans (or, at least the leadership)
This is very unsettling. We are supposed to be the country that is the home of the free and land of the brave, but I don't feel that way right now. Although I kinda wanted Bush to be elected both times, I just wish someone else was leading us RIGHT NOW. We need a leader that is repectable, both at home and abroad.
I will admit that I didn't think this of Clinton at first. But during the Monica ordeal, I was living in the UK. DID ANYONE KNOW THAT DURING THIS SCANDAL THAT CLINTON SERVED AS AN AMBASSADOR FOR THE UK / IRA NEGOTIATIONS? HE EFFECTIVELY HELP END IRA TERRORIST BOMBING IN THE UK!!!! This little bit of history was lost because of the Lewinsky scandal. Shame on us for focusing on the wrong thing.
We need a smarter president. One that will not go headstrong into a fight / war because in response or reacation to an attack on our country. WE NEED A PRESIDENT THAT WILL TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR THE ACTIONS CARRIED OUT UNDER HIS ADMINSTRATION, EVEN IF HE IS WRONG!!!
This is how you gain respect from the citizens and aliens. - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Last I heard, there is no Santa Clause. Shows what you believe.
And as for ratings, I now watch Olbermann much more regularly than I watch the "big three" network news shows, their rehash of the same four stories, and Katie Couric's movie star and recipe "features". - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15One thing to say to Olbermann: you've got balls my friend.
No one died when Clinton lied! - andreo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15@KKat
I'll keep this very short and simple.
Name one thing that Bush or his administration did to stop 9/11...
All I've heard from the Bush administration was how they, oops, sorry, us the citizens of this country was caught off guard. And then the dog and pony show started. - Araya213, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I watched this live last night, my girl and I were cheering like he just scored a touchdown!
- brutalentropy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16@squinky
Actually, you'll notice the OP said:
"Clinton was impeached for LYING ABOUT getting head"
Also, if you're going to insult someone's intelligence, you should know how to spell perjury ;)
Just a suggestion... - Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It was already answered by the 9-11 report and richard clarke's book. There was no good reason to ask it. Even Condi think so.
- C00001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10enderwigin-
Nice name, but you're either straight up bluffing or a moron. Those people are vetted extremely intensely (including a series of interviews with friends and family) before they're granted clearance for a position like that. They have honor and they are hired specifically to never divulge information like that. And even if, for whatever reason, they happened to let you in on something like that, I don't think it's the smartest thing in the world to run around saying "my friend who was a [specific position] and still works as a [specific position] tells me classified information." - brutalentropy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14@Okayyou:
To repeat an oft used right-wing mantra:
If bush hasn't done anything wrong, he won't have anything to worry about.
I don't think it's a fair comparison, either. If you didn't commit a murder, you as a private citizen have rights to due process. Now, I'm not saying the executive doesn't have privacy as well, but we're talking about elected PUBLIC officials. Our government is supposed to have transparency and accountability.
Why did bush push so hard against the 9/11 commission? - kamikazecow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Agreed, When i was watching this i was thinking of Good night, And good luck, and low and behold he actually said it at the end. Brillant. If anyone hasnt scene that movie, i suggest that you do
- adb22791, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This is the second time Olbermann has blasted Bush. Finally, a good decent journalist who isn't in somebodies pocket. This guy needs a raise.

"He can't verify and one could easily refute everything he said. Clinton "tried", 3000 people died."
Hrm. Well, who exactly was president when 9/11 happened? So, on who's watch did 3000 people die? On one hand folks like yourself say "Bush couldn't have done anything--he was only in office for 8 months!" But then we have Condi saying that Clinton was wrong--the Bush administration was actively involved in attempting to address terrorism.
Sorry. Can't have it both ways. - absurdist, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11@enderwigin
"my source is a body guard to the former president and current guard to the bush twins."
Right. You sure you don't have a couple of Arkansas State Troopers in there too? - sebnukem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nice post.
When I see all these "Support Our Troops" bumper stickers and ribbons, I wish they really meant "Bring Them Home" - sebnukem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6actually this has been duped 4 times today. If the stories were merged into one it would have 4000+ diggs. A good thing in my opinion.
- gardnert1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Im not one to bitch about duplicating stories but this is a dupe from TODAY!

- answer42, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Wow. That was amazing. I thought Olbermann was pretty cool before. But now I'm really impressed. Somehow I doubt Bush will ever even see that, though. His spoon feeders will probably just jam some Falwell down his throat instead.
Two more years, huh? -
