- stevetrojanman, on 02/09/2008, -6/+68This "outrage" by HillBill could have been so much more effective if she would have just shed a tear...
I just find the word "outraged" hilarious...it is so overused these days...it's outrageous - ZandorMonkeyBoy, on 02/09/2008, -32/+75Sheesh. Nobody could pimp her out unless she came with her own brown bag.
- demicritter, on 02/09/2008, -8/+45Clinton's pimping to get elected? So tell me something I didn't already know!
- arcticJKL, on 02/09/2008, -9/+42I agree.
The original comment implies that Chelsea is not a willing participant in the campaign and is distasteful.
I also agree with Zandor that the Clintons are distasteful themselves. - gwayo, on 02/09/2008, -4/+32Oh sheesh, they are such drama queens. Yes, it was inappropriate. But they're THREATENING the network. They said that Hillary won't participate in any debates ...basically unless they fire the guy. This is JUST like the way she treated White House staff--cross Hillary and PAY. Talk about manipulation.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -7/+34Wow! It's about time they did a little factual reporting. Dave simply stated what most of the rest of us no-names in America think and say.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -9/+34Clinton should call the waaaaaaaaaaaambulance.
- demicritter, on 02/09/2008, -6/+26The Clinton's are a bunch of phonies! Remember Clinton laughing his ass off after leaving Ron Brown's funeral? http://my.break.com/content/view.aspx?ContentID=33 ...
- Malevolant, on 02/09/2008, -5/+24Anyone in the race is doing whatever they can do to get elected. This goes for all politicians.
Pimp is just another word for exploitation, and if you think all politicians don't exploit things, to get what they want and to gain office, you need to get your head out of the sand.
Call me crazy but the guys was just talking and don't we have free speech in this country? Because he didn't say "exploit" and used "pimp" instead he is now suspended? That isn't free speech , it's semantics, and he's paying for it. Dumb. - aliengoods, on 02/09/2008, -6/+22Why should the children (especially adult children) be avoided when they're actively using them in the campaign? I suppose criticism of Bill is off limits too, because he's a former president.
- bullcutter, on 02/09/2008, -8/+24The more I hear about this Wolfson guy the bigger douche he becomes.
Using somebody to socially lubricate clientele for your personal gain is called pimping.
Even if she did do it on her own, she's still a ho on Hillary's behalf. Calling superdelegates to butter them up?!?! There's something truly flawed in the system that this kind of ***** is even legal.
Well, if you can win the voters, win control of the party machine... - gobleepyourself, on 02/09/2008, -10/+25OH PLEASE. CHELSEA IS BEING PIMPED OUT FOR GEN X & Y VOTES. THE CLINTONS ARE USING THIS AS A PLOY TO AVERT ANOTHER ASS-KICKING BY OBAMA.
- deanlowe, on 02/09/2008, -1/+13Insinuating that a candidate's daughter is a whore is not criticism. Her health care plan sucks ass is criticism.
Get the difference? - ZandorMonkeyBoy, on 02/09/2008, -12/+23Yes, the Clintons are distasteful.
- aliengoods, on 02/09/2008, -1/+12What did these comments have to do with the Obama campaign? Or are you just on crack?
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -5/+16Sadly for Chelsea . . . the apple doesn't fall far from the tree . . . .
Good for Shuster for saying what the rest of us already knew but had no podium to express. - bullcutter, on 02/09/2008, -3/+14Chelsea is doing a bit more than "supporting her family". Chelsea is an adult Clinton and there's no reason she would participate in any campaign other than her mothers.
Chelsea has been swamped in "excellent opportunities" since she was born. And the reason the current Digg trend exists is because people fear the record-breaking nepotism, cronyism and beaurocratizing that would ensue should Hillary be elected.
She is also a warmonger, and in general, an annoying, phony biatch. - inactive, on 02/09/2008, -5/+14Dude it's not 1993 anymore. She's probably had a fashion consultant for years, perhaps work done?, etc. etc. plus she was like about 13 when most of the images people remember her from.
She's not a model, but she ain't bad. - realwx, on 02/09/2008, -1/+10STEP AWAY FROM THE CAPS LOCK KEY
- OpaqueMurdock, on 02/09/2008, -4/+12She is not unattractive, perhaps a bit plain... but saying a woman who is at the very least average looking needs a "paper bag" is kinda extreme. My guess is that you were trying to be funny... meh, not so much.
- Dakk, on 02/09/2008, -0/+7OH NO! I'VE GOT MY CAPS LOCK KEY ON TOO... NOW WHY DON'T WE ALL JUST TURN THEM OFF AND WALK AWAY. I HATE IT WHEN THERE'S A MEXICAN CAPSLOCK STANDOFF.
- DiggasWAttitude, on 02/09/2008, -7/+14He should have said 'whoring her out like a White House intern'.
- ZenMojo, on 02/09/2008, -1/+8*****. Pimping implies it's involuntary? This isn't Eastern Europe, buddy, our prostitutes are ready, willing, and able.
Madam Hillary auctioned off a date with her daughter for MONEY. Last time I checked, that was called pimping. - bullcutter, on 02/09/2008, -1/+8
{"Many of the superdelegates were in and out of the Clinton White House, invited to dinners, have received contributions from Clinton allies," says (Gary) Hart, who has endorsed Obama. "There will be pressure brought to bear to cash in those chips."
Clinton has a wealth of contacts to tap, in the party and in her campaign. There's the former President himself, of course, and Clinton's campaign chair, Terry McAuliffe, who ran the DNC from 2001 to 2005, and a top Clinton surrogate, Harold Ickes, who serves on the DNC's influential rules committee. The Clintons are working hard to bring the large bloc of uncommitted superdelegates into the senator's camp. }
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20080218/berman - nippinawassee, on 02/09/2008, -3/+10For all the dislike I have towards the hillbill twins, I feel it's wrong to attack Chelsea in this manner. she had NO control over her parents - she is who she is and cannot help it that people consider her unattractive. Remember Jimmy Carter's daughter? It's jut not fair to cause her distress or embarrassment over something she has absolutely no control over.
- zeiben, on 02/09/2008, -4/+11I liked Schuster's on-air apology, but I might have rephrased a bit:
SCHUSTER: I used a term last night that was inappropriate, and for that I apologize. I should not have said they are 'pimping' their daughter. I meant to say 'whoring', 'treating her as if she was another tool in the arsenal, just like that 5 million'. Chelsea, if you're listening, I'm sorry.... that your parents are douches... - these3remain, on 02/09/2008, -3/+9I find it interesting that the Clintons would be outraged about the phrase "pimped out" used in reference to their daughter campaigning. Perhaps Shuster should apply his own semantics ala Clintonese and say it depends on what "pimped" means ... or "out" for that matter.
Didn't notice any outrage coming from the Clintons about ESPN's sportscaster using "F Jesus". I figure if all she got was a one week suspension, that's about all that is appropriate for the "pimped out" remark, too. Possibly less since I hold Him in considerably higher esteem than Chelsea. - bullcutter, on 02/09/2008, -1/+7whoops, meant "can't" win the voters, ..
- arcticJKL, on 02/09/2008, -1/+7Goodness that was a rather insulting reply.
I stated that the 'original content' (ie the one made at MSNBC) made that implication. Perhaps I should have been more clear but at what point did I imply that she wasnt willing? - PunkRampant, on 02/09/2008, -4/+9Fine, but the Clintons don't need to have a fit over it.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -1/+6point remains. There are no ethics as long as the sheep don't care/aren't offended/don't find out. Whatever gets you votes.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 02/09/2008, -0/+5Yeah, just like when Kerry brought up Cheney's gay daughter...
- pintomp3, on 02/09/2008, -0/+5a liberal rag owned by a company that profits from war?
- PunkRampant, on 02/09/2008, -2/+7It's not like Shuster was talking ***** about her in a hit piece or anything. The Clintons should pay more attention to Fox News if they think this little comment was bad.
- Hanapostle, on 02/09/2008, -3/+8so, wasn't hillary trying hard a month ago to shield chelsea from this whole process and keep her a private figure? well, guess what - from the moment that you engage her to represent any part of this campaign, she becomes a public figure, and open to the scrutiny. and she deserves it. you're not gonna be allowed to borrow from chelsea's own unspoiled reputation without some kind of backlash. mrs. clinton, you've turned chelsea into damaged goods. you tried to exploit her a a resource, as the only part of your campaign that wasn't tainted, but in doing so, you tainted her. your own sin did this to her so deal with it!
but of course, it still looks like you're gonna try and pull a magic teardrop from your wasted glands, but not even that can salvage what you've done to her. - inactive, on 02/09/2008, -2/+7What I thought was the worst part of this is the way Kieth Olberman bashed this guy for saying that when I've personally heard Kieth say much worse about Republicans. Olberman is a huge hypocrite. He's so in love with the Clinton's its ridiculous.
- sjl127, on 02/09/2008, -4/+9I'd hit it.
- zephyr42, on 02/09/2008, -0/+5FTA: " A distasteful comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor Thursday could imperil Hillary Rodham Clinton's participation in future presidential debates on the network, a Clinton spokesman said."
So this means Barack would debate himself?.... awesome maybe they'll get to real issues by separating the kids. - PopcornDave, on 02/09/2008, -4/+8@deanlowe
There's a grand diference between calling Chelsea a whore and saying that the campaign is pimping her out, Nobody everl called her a whore, her mother maybe, but not her. The comment was made that Hillary's campaing was exploiting her but perhaps the comment that she was being pimped out is lost on anyone over the age of 30. - jamesalfaro, on 02/09/2008, -3/+7Main Entry: (2)pimp
Pronunciation: ˈpimp

merriam-webster.com/dictionary - charliekwalker, on 02/09/2008, -0/+4Ever find that six fingered man?
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5What a bunch of hypocrites.
If one of your parents or even a close relative was running for office you wouldn't be making calls and campaigning for them? - Werelock, on 02/09/2008, -0/+4And that superdelegates don't have to follow the popular vote in each state. If I vote for Obama and he wins the popular vote in my state, then all of the superdelegates should be required to follow that result.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5I think you've made me incensed.
Nope, just a bit of gas.
/pardon me - pagit, on 02/09/2008, -3/+7From dictionary.com
Pimp:
6. to exploit
so she isn't "exploiting" the fact that Chelsea is her daughter and using Chelsea to sway voters? - PunkRampant, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5It's an empty threat anyway. If Clinton pulled out of the debate, that would leave Obama to talk by himself for an hour, and that would be very beneficial for him.
- ZenMojo, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5Your avatar's a chimp.
- Gavagai80, on 02/09/2008, -0/+4Erm, mind sharing the evidence of Ban Ki-moon's nepotism? I missed that story.
- JoEBlack982, on 02/09/2008, -0/+4It WAS inappropriate. Just like Bill Maher said "If you hate Hillary Clinton, it is so about you." How true. It's a ***** fad and needs to die. Digg me down.
- travistubbs, on 02/09/2008, -3/+6I first heard about this issue when Keith Olbermann has to issue the apology on MSNBC's behalf. Now that I read the whole story, it seems to me that the Clinton's are using this as a means to make it look like their being picked on. It's the same sympathy card they pulled in New Hampshire. Now that is actually involves a network, they're not just pulling the sympathy card, but using it as a means of blackmail as well.
When in a commentary position and not that of an anchor, one should be entitled to their own opinions. If Schuster's and Matthew's opinions are the one's that had been stated, that's their opinion. Simple as that. Stop being a whiney little bitch just because you're not getting things your way.
And that's Clinton's problem. She thought she'd come in and walk right out with the Presidency. Instead, she's having to actually put up a fight and she doesn't like that one damn bit. Now she actually has to answer to critics (or silence them, in this case). -
