- ReasonWinsOut, on 01/07/2009, -87/+1103And out just came the credit card. I just made yet another donation to Obama because THIS kind of thing needs to end in our country and he's just the man to help inspire us to see the best of ourselves and stop this hateful *****.
And after phone-banking for the No on 8 campaign here in California tomorrow, I've now set a goal of 200 calls for Obama tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.
Let's make it happen, people.
Yes on Obama
No on Prop 8 - immeum, on 11/02/2008, -41/+543I'm in rural SE Michigan and someone has taken a can of spray paint and written "White Power", "F__k N_______s" (the N word), on mailboxes, road signs like stop signs and yellow road signs. I have lost count of how many of my Obama signs have been stolen.
This is the "Christian" point of view? I am ashamed and frightened that the person who did this, WHO THINKS THIS!, lives in my neighbothood. - Bocumast, on 11/02/2008, -17/+359Our street was hit last night. All Obama signs stolen (at least 8 of them over 3 blocks), including mine. To those people that stole them, I'd like to say "I just donated another $100 to the Obama campaign. Thanks for the inspiration."
- precog29, on 11/02/2008, -15/+310we got a flyer in the mail yesterday that said "Republicans vote on the 4th, and Democrats will vote on the 5th."
basically when polls are closed. And a lot of people will believe that sentence. - JoeMondo, on 11/02/2008, -26/+262Republicans love America.
But they hate Americans. - ReasonWinsOut, on 01/07/2009, -16/+242As recently as Thursday a preacher here in California equated voting No on 8 to Nazi appeasement in the late '30s. This bigotry and hate just needs to stop.
- Gemfinder, on 11/02/2008, -10/+227I just knocked on 30 doors today, then my arthritis kicked in and put a stop to me. Other canvassers took up the torch and are hard at work.
I'll knock on more doors tomorrow, after I've gotten some rest, and get out the vote for Obama, Merkley, Kitty and Rob Handy. I'm no good to anyone with seized-up hips and lumbar.
Fifty hours to go, people! Make it count, for all you're worth. - holmzz, on 11/02/2008, -7/+191I hope you're reporting it.
- madzombiekilla, on 11/02/2008, -10/+174I have to say, here on the border of LA and OC, it is really sickening me seeing people with their children on busy street corners with their "Yes on 8" signs.
My wife is pregnant with our first, and I really hate seeing this intolerance and bigotry right as we are bringing a new life into the world.
We really have to change our ways and realize that life is short and we should all play nice. - 5celery, on 11/02/2008, -33/+183The fire that McCain/Palin play with, for political points among the ignorant.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -10/+135While I disagree with your political choice, that kind of behavior is not acceptable. It was most likely kids and they could use a really good history class. It is sad that they have no idea of the pain they recall and create with those references. Unfortunately, that level of crassness seems to become more commonplace in today's society as time widens the gap to several lines in a history book during seventh period.
It is a failing of all of us that people are using that terrible time for effect in discourse. Never forget, Never repeat. - diggapleeeze, on 11/02/2008, -14/+137Please scan and post it somewhere for all to see how low the Republican's will go.
- AmazingSteve, on 11/02/2008, -7/+127There's a simple remedy to that. Cut the plug and cord from a lamp, strip one end, wrap bare end around metal sign frame, then plug that ***** in, wait and enjoy. Deep fried Redneck. Should the Redneck catch fire, a steady stream of urine can help extinguish the flames. Remove cord again, and call Police to remove the trash from your yard.
Man, I should write for Good Housekeeping. - mgenovese, on 11/02/2008, -45/+152Just because some idiot sprayed KKK and other inappropriate things on your yard signs doesn't indicate (either way) that Obama is the right man for the job. This act shouldn't be construed as a reason to vote for or against Obama.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -29/+124LET THIS SERVE AS MOTIVATION TO WORK LIKE DOGS OVER THESE LAST FEW DAYS TO GET OUT THE VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- parisii, on 11/02/2008, -95/+186Palin must have gone out treat or treating on her own after she put the kids to bed.
- ryanonfire, on 11/02/2008, -12/+96When you hear someone say "it was just your run-of-the-mill racism" you know your county sucks.
- Tryptomine, on 11/02/2008, -7/+85None of those other "perversions" you named are between two consenting adults, siszam. What right do you have to deny people what they wish to do when it does not bring harm to anyone or anything? Sorry, but same-sex marriages are not going to cause kids to catch "The Gay." (To borrow a phrase from Yahtzee.)
- shalb, on 11/02/2008, -5/+81Dude... that's just wrong. Prank or no prank that's crossing the line.
- inactive, on 12/08/2008, -35/+105This doesn't surprise me in the least, coming from McCain supporters. Especially since they sent out a mailer with same message that was in a recently retracted email: Obama will turn into Hitler. It's amazing how fast the Rethugs can pick up on the talking points.
- Poblasai, on 11/02/2008, -6/+76911 Operator: "Hello 911, what is your emergency?"
Caller: "My sign has been vandalized."
911 Operator: "Like a billboard or store-front sign?"
Caller: "No, the paper sign in my front yard."
911 Operator: "Was there any other property damage?"
Caller: "No."
911 Operator: "..."
Caller: "Hello?"
911 Operator: "Sir, do you realize that someone in this very city is possibly being shot, robbed, raped, or worse right now? And you would like us to send an officer over to file a report about the defacing of a small piece of paper?"
Caller: "Yeah..."
*dial tone* - bananasluggy, on 11/02/2008, -2/+69You could always do what that one lady did when her signs kept getting stolen... she painted her lawn with the Obama logo. :D
- acebrando, on 11/02/2008, -4/+64noticed this was in indiana, then as i read further i was shocked to see it happened in my own home town! i dont think the poster did this themselves to get attention. what i do think is this.
1: The signs were probably vandalized by stupid kids who have no true understanding of the impact of those symbols.
2: The real problem revealed in this crime is more about our nations ignorance and the fact we are uneducated as to the history and negative impact of racism.
I dont think it is right or fair to blame the GOP, McCain, etc. for this type of act. (And, before anyone thinks i am defending McCain, I am a lifelong democrat and will be voting for Obama) Now more than ever we should all be voting based on the issues. A vote for Obama simply because he is black is just as bad as a vote for McCain because he is white. - Dreamzville, on 11/02/2008, -1/+61Thank you, Gemfinder!
- Zalyster, on 11/02/2008, -17/+76Who said that this was the "Christian" point of view? From what I could tell from your comment, religion had nothing to do with it. It was just your run-of-the-mill racism.
- Bartboy919, on 11/02/2008, -4/+62If it really takes 5 minutes out of your day to tell the people that are trying to get people to vote that you already did, just put a sign on your door, along with the message "get off my lawn".
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -12/+69When will these Christians stop trying to shove their deviant lifestyle choices down our throats?
- hmphargh, on 11/02/2008, -19/+76Voting for Obama isn't going to change anything like this.
- NYZslayer, on 11/02/2008, -2/+56Good plan. Although you should probably remove the cord first before applying the steady stream of urine.
- MasterPain, on 11/02/2008, -17/+70How pathetic are the republicans, they will try anything.
- Frumbler, on 11/02/2008, -9/+59My Ex is gay (that's why she's my ex), but I know it wasn't by choice, and it really sucks to see those people on the street corners when I drive by with our kids. If their mother could get married it sure would make my life easier.
I gave them the finger on the last street corner, my daughter said "Dad! just give them the thumbs down". She's right of course, but they disgust me. - flammablewater, on 11/02/2008, -4/+54donttaseme = reported
- swordedge, on 11/02/2008, -2/+50Unfortunately, this is caused by stupidity and stupidity is not curable.
- diggapleeeze, on 11/02/2008, -12/+60No, but it will show the bastards we will not be intimidated.
- broncfan23, on 11/02/2008, -7/+54This is very hateful. but electing Barack Obama won't change the feelings of these people and that's the truth.
- WhiteIce89, on 11/02/2008, -1/+48That's called voter fraud and it's a serious federal crime. I hope you reported it.
- MotoFly, on 11/02/2008, -0/+46I wouldn't tempt them to set your lawn on fire.
- Frodoholic, on 11/02/2008, -2/+48@siszam: I hope when you have a kid, they're gay. I love that kind of irony.
I know deep down inside you realize your argument is a slippery slope argument. Gay marriage is about two consenting adults who want to get married. The only difference from "traditional marriage" is that the consenting adults are of the same sex.
I have morals, and I am voting No on Prop 8 because I believe that all consenting adults have the right to be married. - inactive, on 11/02/2008, -3/+49***** Nachos ?
- shalb, on 11/02/2008, -5/+50Seriously? As much as I love California, I'm surprised and ashamed of having to vote on something like Prop 8. Marriage, religious act or no, should be for the people and something anyone can be blessed with, not just the religious.
- holmzz, on 11/02/2008, -17/+60Let me get this straight. You just threatened canvassers with a loaded gun.
I don't even know where to start with you, but it is very easy to draw a comparison between
gun nuts like yourself and our current administrations preemptive policies.
The fact that you would even joke about stuff like that just proves you don't respect your right to own guns.
Let me guess you're pro- life too? - antidense, on 11/02/2008, -2/+43Uhh... homosexuals were also victims of the Holocaust and targets of Nazis. If anything, it would be the opposite of what that preacher conveyed.
- Poblasai, on 11/02/2008, -1/+41A lesson learned from Xbox Live:
The dumbest are always the loudest. - inactive, on 11/02/2008, -11/+50I live in a predominant midwest neighborhood which is a stronghold for Republicans. Nearby 2 of the families who support Obama with signs in their yards received letters with death threats, and one home just down the street from me has had vandalism done to their yard.
We rent our home so I'm afraid to put out a sign for Obama because of fear from vandals. It's not my home. This is a sad day for America.
Edit:
Watch this video that explains the meaning behind "American Pie" (For those who don't remember, the day the music died)

The words are more appropriate today than any day since. - abstractual, on 11/02/2008, -0/+37http://hamptonroads.com/2008/10/phony-flier-says-v ...
http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2008/10/28/bogus-f ... - AZTriGuy, on 11/02/2008, -4/+41PatNolan, thank you for being a voice of conservative reason. Just like with any political affiliation or religion, there are extremists on all sides who give the party a bad name. I must say I respectfully disagree with your political choice, but it's refreshing to see a McCain supporter who's not lashing out in the same way that others (like the ones from this article) have been. If all McCain supporters acted like you, I might be convinced to vote for him like I was planning on during the 2000 primaries. Not quite, though :)
- BillOReilly, on 11/02/2008, -3/+37I hope your sister/brother turns out to be gay and wants to marry their partner and you realize how much of a ***** immature bigot you are.
- Zalyster, on 11/02/2008, -28/+62WHY would Sarah Palin do something like this? You may not agree with her policies but to say that she would act in support of nazis and the KKK is a little bit off.
- jimmyjohnston, on 11/02/2008, -1/+33That's the funny thing the only people who keep calling him a messiah are the Republicans accusing us of calling him one. I've never called him one and none of the people I know who are voting for him thinks he's one, I'm just voting for him because he's the better of the two options I've been given.
- staffell, on 11/02/2008, -6/+38Disgusting.
