- MeanYogurt, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2What a shameless hit piece. This article is the height of intellectual dishonesty. Tax revenue has gone up since the Bush tax cuts. That is a fact. The economy has grown and jobs increased after the Bush tax cuts. Even after "tax cuts for the rich" the rich pay an ever greater share of the tax burden. Just because he didn't cite his reference doesn't make what he said untrue. His statement is completely accurate, but I suppose the truth doesn't matter to thinkprogress.org.
- MeanYogurt, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1and how do the 2007 figure compare to 2003? My point is still valid.
- MeanYogurt, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1My apologies for the odd response I misread your comment.
2003, the year of the Bush tax cuts, was the last year tax revenue fell. In 2004 and 2005 (last year data is available for) tax revenues were rising. Even the liberal NY Times acknowledged growing tax reciepts: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/13/business/13defic ... - SwordofKahless, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1The neo-conservatives that now control the Republican party (not to be confused with true Conservatives) I am just as unhappy with but it would be the height of insanity because of my dissatification to vote for higher taxes by supporting the Democratic party.
Democrats have been totally out of control in their quest to endlessly raise every type of tax imaginable with continual blatant disregard for these rough times middle class Americans are experiencing. This is only making a bad situation created from the poor choices of neo-conservatives (unlike true conservatives) bankrupting the country with nation building and unbalanced trade much worse.
I expect things to get much worse at the federal level if any of the leading Democrat Presidental candidates that continue to campaign on higher taxes and stealing our money win in November. People really need to stand up and stop this money grab that subsidizes this endless waste and expansion of government at both the state and federal level. (no matter the party)
It is not yours to give! - Mesmorize, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Wrong, your lazy ass gets what I pay for.
- hawkeye17, on 04/15/2008, -2/+3All I can think of to say in response to that is....WTF??!
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -2/+1"This article is the height of intellectual dishonesty. Tax revenue has gone up since the Bush tax cuts."
Unintended irony is the funniest kind.
Tell us, what was the last year that tax revenues fell? - inactive, on 04/16/2008, -3/+2Those mischievous Senate pages should quit dropping LSD in the politicians water.
- inactive, on 04/17/2008, -2/+1Was your point that tax cuts CAUSE revenue increases? Because you haven't shown that. You haven't shown any revenue increases ever. In fact, you have done nothing but make claims based on ... well... nothing. Again, when is the last time revenues fell year to year?
- RuffRidr, on 04/16/2008, -2/+1Hilarious. No wait, the other thing... tedious.
- inactive, on 04/17/2008, -3/+1That's nice. You are going to ignore the tax cuts in 2001 that don't fit your theory, but I expected no less. Now prove some causality between the capital gains tax cuts in 2003 and a rise in tax revenue. Because my theory is that I bought some tax revenue increasing tennis-shoes in 2003. They are responsible for the increases in revenue in 2004 and 2005. I have presented as much evidence to back my theory as you have presented to back yours.
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -3/+1"Are you a communist?"
Are you an idiot?
I think you get what you pay for. Unless of course you are paying for Republican government. Then you pay more and get crappy government that can't even respond in a national emergency. Until the right wing can actually deliver competence in government they need to sit down and shut up. Whining and crying about paying your ***** taxes is no substitute for actual solutions to the nation's problems. Problems caused by idiots like you who are too greedy to notice that the policies you support caused our problems in the first place. - inactive, on 04/16/2008, -5/+2With 80% of Americans unhappy with the direction of the nation, do they really think that more right wing ***** is the solution? Are the Republicans really just plain stupid?
