- storeyy, on 08/18/2008, -8/+42Why did Rick Warren say he was in "the cone of silence" ? I am sure he knew McCain was NOT in the building. This was advertised as a huge deal and he was late? This smells.
- wonderlandpr, on 08/18/2008, -35/+57A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WHO LIES ON A FAITH FORUM..WILL LIE ABOUT WAR, THE ECONOMY, EAVESDROPPING....etc.
JOHN MCCAIN WAS ASKED IF HE WAS IN A CONE OF SILENCE BACKSTAGE WHILE BARACK OBAMA WAS QUESTIONED. MCCAIN SAID HE WAS.
HE LIED. HE WAS IN A LIMO. HE WAS NOT EVEN IN THE TABERNACLE. HE MAY HAVE HEARD THE ENTIRE BARACK Q&A.
MORE IMPORTANT: On a Faith Forum, about Moral Failings, John McCain morally failed in front of our eyes.
He lied about being in a car, not backstage, sequestered as was the agreement of the night.
JOHN MCCAIN lies on small things. Will lie on all things great and small. - EatingPie, on 08/18/2008, -9/+28I thought Warren was making a joke about the Cone of Silence when he said it (a Get Smart reference). But he was serious that McCain wouldn't hear the questions. My take during the forum, anyway.
Okay, now when Warren was asked what would stop McCain from listening in his limo, Warren responded...
***
Warren: We asked him, we flat out asked him, "Did you hear any of the discussion?" And I trust the integrity of both John McCain and Barak Obama, that they said they would abide by the rules, they knew the rules way in advance. That I would not give them the questions. I did tell them all of the themes, and went through all of the themes... it's one thing to say "I may ask a question about the courts," it's another question to say "which of the existing supreme court [justices] would you not have appointed."
CNN: And let's be fair. We called Senator McCain's office, and they said "No, we did not listen, we did not know." And part of that is we're just going to have to go on the honor system, and we certainly respect that.
***
On Kos' video proof of answering a question beforehand, he actually cuts the questions that ARE asked prior to McCain answering.
Yes to we rank 16th in education.
Yes to we rank 1st in incarcerations.
Find bad teachers other work to wanting more accountability in schools.
While Kos claims Warren hadn't asked McCain any questions, it was a similar dynamic with Obama. Obama actually replied "Not Good" to the *statements* about 16th in schools and 1st in incarcerations.
So Kos edited the video, and McCain was asked by both Warren's people, and CNN, and they said they didn't hear the questions. If you don't believe McCain, then he certainly isn't the candidate you should vote for! If you do believe him, then you still have a choice between two candidates.
-Pie - flink405, on 08/19/2008, -4/+11Obama people in a panic?
First rule of politics: The party that starts looking for implausible and unprovable conspiracy theories about the opposition candidate is in trouble. - dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6"Obamatard nation" - that's a good way to show you are unbiased. Here's a clue - not everyone is in your country.
- KaosX, on 08/19/2008, -10/+16What I happen to find highly amusing is that by claiming that McCain cheated, Obama supporters have clearly given the better performance (the win) to McCain at Saddleback. Barack is a great speaker; when someone else writes his speeches and he has time to prepare to give the speech. Is that "cheating" too? Any time you get Barack speaking without a teleprompter or queue cards you start to see how great of a speaker he really is.
- dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -1/+7I don't actually think he did well - I'm not American and will not be voting in your election - this is not party bias here.
I saw it - he came across as pushy, answering questions before they were asked - it's disrespectful the way he talked over the host. Had he waited he could have given *good* answers - instead he said "Yes, Yes", before the poor guy was even a quarter through his question.
It does not matter how Obama did here - I'm talking about McCain - it doesn't better if Obama's answers were similar, I'm just saying what McCain did wrong in a conversation about McCain. Not about his party, just him and those questions. He did badly from where I'm standing. - dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -1/+7Careful where you assign your blame - one bad Christian does not make Christians bad - there are plenty of terrible atheists.
Just in case - I am an atheist - there just isn't room for unnecessary conflict. - SuperVepr308, on 08/19/2008, -2/+8It seems to me that Bofana stumbles around like an 6th grader giving his first oral book report unless his prepared speech is plastered right in front of him. I have never heard more "uhhh's" and "ummm's" in my life. He is a great speaker how again? Oh right, he tells young, airhead pseudo-Marxists what they want to hear.
- piercew, on 08/19/2008, -2/+6Guys, both candidates had the topics ahead of time, and if you compare the transcripts to McCains stump speeches, pretty much everything he said was right out of there.
Even the Kosmonauts think this is bogus. - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -4/+8Cone of silence--whatever--he had the questions beforehand.
McCain unscripted is like ***** in broken glass. - IbnDigg, on 08/18/2008, -3/+7Smells like the rest of American politics
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 08/19/2008, -5/+9Buried as spam; most of the accusations/content from HuffPo is already dubious in nature, and making the lame excuse that one candidate cheated because the favored candidate of your publication didn't fare quite as well is not "good journalism". The ad hominem attacks against McCain need to stop because it reflects poorly on Obama and his supporters; is that what you really want?
- j0ew00ds, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5Again, failed logic in trying to debunk the comment.
"What I happen to find highly amusing is that by claiming that McCain cheated, Obama supporters have clearly given the better performance (the win) to McCain at Saddleback."
Where in there does he say Obama lost? - rmmcclay, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5For any Republicons reading this: thanks for the last 8 years.
- DangerCollie, on 08/19/2008, -2/+6"This is why the left always loses."
You mean like in 2006? And most likely in '08. Personally, I think you right wing chuckleheads are going to get your ass handed to you this fall. Might want to start thinking about who you're going to blame. Because you never seem to be able to admit making a mistake, so you'll need a scapegoat. Beat the rush. - Madrigalian, on 08/19/2008, -11/+15Huffingtonpiss article. That figures.
Buried for what it is; Libocrat sour grapes. "he cheated! waaah!" Pathetic. - inactive, on 08/18/2008, -10/+13Simply because the story by "Kit Seelye" was not true.
And though when Obama was walking in and being greeted, mccain was not in the room.
Until he was actually IN THE ROOM ( cone of silence) that is when the questioning began.
And this is when Rick Warren made that statement of 'now he is in tjhe cone of silence"
Do you really think Obama's team would have taken an eye off Mccain or allowed Obama to start without knowing mccain was completely cut off from communication ?
This smells alright, of Obama campaign desperation and spin. - flashback99, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3yeah lying's a bitch isn't it. maybe if they stopped doing it the wouldnt have to hire a bunch of cronies to hammer digg with BS so often.
- dobbinmon, on 08/18/2008, -2/+5a politician lied - wtf?
- flashback99, on 08/19/2008, -1/+4McCain, depth? Obama shallowness? Please put the crack pipe down.
- radix2, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Silly. McCain *should* have been in a location which would not allow this doubt to creep into the validity of the debate. Why he was not we can argue about (he has now ***** up any integrity the debate might have had - not because he actually heard the questions before hand but because they are now called into doubt).
Personally, I don't think he heard the questions - but that is just my guess. The reaction to this doubt is just stupid though. - MrFurious2k, on 08/19/2008, -4/+7Next, the huffspam crowd will be complaining that McCain has a tiny transmitter planted in his brain that allows him to communicate telepathically and get answers to debates.
- NateTheApe21, on 08/19/2008, -7/+10just take the loss, Obama didn't preform as well as McCain, stop acting like playground kids, concede and move on, this is the first of many debates
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+5Oh dear oh dear oh dear. The desperation here is not from the Obama camp, I'm afraid.
The story that McCain "cheated" now has legs. If it makes its way into the MSM (and it has already) then it doesn't matter a good god damn who did better in the debate (clue: in this debate it was a tie and it is totally subjective who you think was the "winner") because in the public mind McCain will be tied to the concept "LIAR & CHEAT" and that will cost him. It will cost him dearly. - merlin5, on 08/19/2008, -6/+9The only thing better than a good victory is beating the opponent so badly he starts loudly whining about cheating. McCain must be smiling. Lefties are such sore losers.
- TheInformer, on 08/19/2008, -3/+5Huffingtonpost memo:
Spam as much DAMAGE CONTROL as possible to minimize McCain's getting upper hand on Messiah. Messiah must not look bad.
Each spam put out by Huffingtonpost, Thinkprogress, Dailykos, et al. on this subject further reinforces that it is all DAMAGE CONTROL.
Btw, Huffingtonpost SPAM. Buried. - donkeydrop, on 08/19/2008, -4/+6blah blah blah ... grassy knoll ....blah blah blah ....radio waves, tin foil hats ...blah bla blah
- DangerCollie, on 08/19/2008, -2/+4"I think Jesus called these hateful hypocrites "Pharisees".
Modern Christianity has lost its way. Getting in bed with incompetent, corrupt politicians to try advancing their cause. They've replaced good works with political action and have become fat, rich and lazy. They've replaced love with angry dogma. They've fallen so far that some of them think killing gays and lesbians is doing God's work.
Frauds, hypocrites, and the tool of evil people. - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+4You are so clever, trying to insinuate that Obama is a terrorist by calling him "Obomber" and "B. Hussein."
I wonder how you're going to manage to be this witty once high school starts up again. - dBass, on 08/18/2008, -12/+14Someone once said: "There are five gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and a person who professes to be a Christian". The point was if people like John McCain promulgate that they are a Christian, then hypocritically lies, cheats, and assassinates his opponent's character, that isn't a believable "witness" for Jesus Christ. The same can be said for this mega-church, mega book selling, "pastor".
The right (wrong) wing evangelicals are well on their way of killing hope, love, and peace. I think Jesus called these hateful hypocrites "Pharisees". I call them dicks. - neveroddoreven, on 08/18/2008, -14/+16A DIGGER WHO USES CAPS IS DESPERATE TO BE HEARD.
WONDERLANDPR THINKS THAT WE NEED CAPS LOCK SO PEOPLE CAN BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT HE IS SAYING AND THE GRAVITY OF THE SITUATION.
HE MIGHT EVEN CONSTANTLY YELL IN REAL LIFE TO GET HIS POINT ACROSS.
MORE IMPORTANT: suddenly wonderland will switch back to lowercase b/c he has even managed to offend and annoy himself with his CAPSLOCK.
CAPS LOCK does not belong in digg. - dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Your still stuck on that huh, not going to talk about McCain.
I like how you support him by ignoring him.
Probably best to keep him out of the spotlight... or sunlight. Also, don't let him touch the crosses or give interviews near mirrors. - dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3That's how they get you - make you think you have no hope and then you just go with the flow and do what you are told.
There are real differences between both candidates and both possible futures. I'm not saying one is good and one is bad, I'll save judgment for another time - they are definitely different possibilities however. - dazparkour, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3I think McCain came across as a pompous ass shouting over the host the way he did, whether he knew what was going to be asked or not - he shouldn't have done it. "Yes, yes" is hardly a good answer to two questions.
Bitch all you want about Obama's answers - are you making excuses for McCain by comparison too?
Bitch all you want - I'm not here to support Obama either, I do not get to vote in your country's election. I can however say McCain didn't do as great as you think he did. - BedlamX, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3 In several interviews Rick Warren stated that the "cone of silence" was a play on words. He stated that he had is staff members with McCain the entire time and the monitor feed was cut to the green room where McCain was.
Buried as Obama propaganda trying to cover up a dismal performance. Another do what it takes to be elected. - thegodfaughnder, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3I believe the second rule of politics is: try not to lie about things, cause people find out.
- btschul, on 08/19/2008, -2/+4Rick Warren+John McCain+Barack Obama = CIRCLE JERK WITH TONS OF MINDLESS SUPPORTERS
- treehugger87, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Nice copy & paste flink. As I said to your identical post above. The party looking for implausable & unprovable conspiracy theories is the republicans:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp - Diggnabbit, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3This is a stupid article. It simply repeats the same stuff from all of the other articles about this issue (from huffingtonpost, dailykos, jedreport, etc.) that were lready ont he front page. (And I'm an Obama supporter)
- AirRaven, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Was there really any need for the ridiculous ALLCAPS?
- y2msu, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2I have been in a town hall meeting with McCain, and he is excellent in that environment, he is very confident and to the point, not trying to craft an answer he thinks the audience wants but how he views it. I did not agree with him on several points, but I was very impressed with his charisma, I can guarantee he was not given prepared questions as I know most of the questioners, and actually he intentionally addressed a person who made a remark of disagreement during his opening speech, he is not afraid to go head on with those that disagree with him, he tried to understand the disagreement and effectively expressed his rationale.. Unlike our current president who couldn't win a debate with a 6th grader, which should be a relief to the Obama supporters. You don't have to do well in spontaneous interviews to become president.
- flashback99, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3yeah thanks for ***** up the world so stupendously.
- Rousterfar, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3Obama did fine. McCain was going to "win" this debate from day one because he was the candidate who's platform has in recent years more closely pandered to the evangelical movement's needs and wishes.
- treehugger87, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Indeed. Here is a letter that made its way around a few right wing mailing lists.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp - jimbo92107, on 08/19/2008, -2/+3Isn't "cone of silence" a cute little story?
Isn't Rick Warren an amiable scammer?
Isn't John McCain just a darling *****? - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+3Obama choked and showed us why he refused the offer from McCain to debate 10 times before the election.
Obama showed us a lot over the weekend, almost every person who watched it, righty or lefty agreed that he ***** up. - SteveLRowe, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1If it's a cone of silence and its leaking wouldn't that just spill more silence everywhere. I hear club soda can get that out
- treehugger87, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Ummm, a transmitter in his EAR allowing him to communicate doesn't seem too unlikely. The specter of this possibility looms large because of Bush's debate with Kerry in 2004. If this is the party of integrity, why not take the extra step to make it crystal clear that no advantage was gained?
