- shawnfassett, on 10/12/2007, -17/+68How come nobody mentioned that when Rush was in his most recent 'troubles', Jeb Bush did a bit of prosecutorial shopping by giving a gem of a promotion to the prosecutor that was going after Rush so hard? Once he accepted, was removed from the case and was given this new prosecutor who offered this sweet deal for Rush to get out of his legal trouble of doctor shopping (how come he was never charged with intent to distribute? he had TONS of pills in his possession....)
- bobbourland, on 10/12/2007, -7/+53He's just pissed off because Michael J. Fox gets pills and he doesn't.
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -11/+36Limbaugh is the entity of hate and bigotry.
Short and concise...'nuff said. - SNIa, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31Limbaugh is a man without morals or conscious thought. Insulting Michael like he did is the equivalent of calling a paraplegic lazy because they can't get out of their wheel chair. Un-frikin-believable that people would say stuff like that. WE NEED A CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28In other words "Please pay attention to me so I can be relevant and not pathetic and pitiful."
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21The outrage is over his comments. I don't care if he has a radio show but I have the right of free speech to criticize him for being a stupid, cruel, mouth piece of the radical right.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -9/+28"Probably because he wasn't intending to distribute.
Dumbass."
What the ***** do you call it then, intent to sell? have you picked up a dictionary lately? makes me wonder who the real dumbass is - XTC109G, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24 A drug addict's view of reality is not supposed to be taken seriously.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I have to laugh at the Rush fellater digging down all these comments.
Go on, digg me down, you pathetic sycophant. You don't have the balls to admit that Rush was a ***** for saying it. - VijchtiDoodah, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Perhaps you didn't notice, but we have a Political News section on Digg for a reason. I'm not sure what that reason is, but I'd guess it's to keep otherwise ignorant people like you in the loop.
As for the clip: I love it. On the one hand, I have to commend Rush for standing with what he believes. On the other, more rational, hand, Rush is just as ignorant as the guy above, those against the advancement and teaching of science, and those who think that teaching sexual abstinence actually works -- none of them listen to common sense or real, hard facts and observations. - Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18You know what bothers me more, then his arrogance and stupidity? The fact that MILLIONS of Americans still listen, and support him!
I mean one buffoon with a radio show isn't important... but when that fool has millions of dedicated fans who want to think, breath and act like the ass, then we have problems...
I mean what sane, compassionate person would still tune in to him? This isn't like 'why do people still support republicans'(although i do think little of them as well) where you might not like the alternative, and still feel as though its your civic duty to vote... Ignoring his show wont make you less of an American in *most* Americans eyes... You will be considered a blubbering pussy, buy how ever many listeners he has... but as i all ready pointed out, those people are complete idiots. - standalonematt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18@unoriginalsin:
I think he meant typically when the normal poor folk have a large amount of drugs they often get charged with intent. There might have been no inconsistencies in the plea (I don't know - having never been charged with a crime in any state) - but maybe the deal was politically motivated - or maybe just because he was rich - with all those lawyers he got a better deal - either of those point to a inconsistent legal system. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Americans have a problem admitting they are wrong. Film at 11.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17"he's not offending anyone except the people who listen or read transcripts just to bash him. What is the freakin outrage over?"
He's offending people who are rational and compassionate. Contrary to belief people who want to know what is going on in both parties like to listen to various point of views even if it means having to listen to this asshat, not just one sided discussions. I don't care if you are Liberal or Conservative your views are welcome to be freely expressed in this great nation of ours but as soon as you start attacking other people because you think they have an agenda, in this case Limbaugh thinking Fox was catering to the Liberal party by advocating stem cell research, when Fox was doing it because he passionately believes some good can come out it. That just irritates me. These "Hate" propaganda radio shows need to stop poisoning our airwaves, both liberal and conservative. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15@Mudanie:
"Sheepish like your faux outrage."
then:
"Meanwhile, the character assasinators on the left are attacking Rush."
***** hypocrite you are.
Incidentally, what is an assasinator? Is that like the terminator?
***** retard. - jizzimmy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21Douche. Bag.
- jdstorer2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16@Mudanie: Obviously, You haven't been paying attention.
1. Rush L. needs to be removed from the air. Why? Because he's gotten away with too much and is poisoning this country with his "views". I don't care if you a democrat or republican, what his says doesn't jibe with either.
2. If MJF stops taking his drugs, he doesn't "move around more" but in fact freezes up. The motion effect you see is *due* to the drugs, and not because he stopped.
Try looking up Parkinsons and L. Dopa before you make stupid, uninformed comments of a political basis: we already have enough of these with Rush on the air. - standalonematt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Did you see that thing Penn and Teller did on Mother Teresa?
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14i'm sorry but i don't think there's a cure for stupidity.
- daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I don't think he's ignorant as much to the fact that he's trying to illicit a response. Rush loves publicity and he's not ignorant, he knows saying things like this will make people come to his defense, and there will be people attacking him for it. I don't respect him as much as I did long ago when he was actually doing what he set out to do, which was to bring forward many things from behind the scenes of politics... I dunno, maybe I was the one being fooled.
...It's disillusioning. - rocksf18jazz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Remember the media is making this an issue. It is not what should be driving the debate on real issues for this election, it is a diversion.
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Sorry, i have a hard time taking someone seriously, who would belittle and attack someone who has a terminal disease... Esp. when the attacker clearly knows *****-all about the illness.
I think 'sheep' is a wonderful description of the people who listen to him, despite his clear ignorance... I mean he himself said illegal drug users are a cancer on the system.... so wouldn't he, and his sheep-ish listeners, be hypocrites if they still kept this crap going? - Dundasbro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Intent to distribute is determined by the amount of drugs you have, not whether you intended to distribute or not. At least I think thats what it is, link anyone?
- aeproberts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No he didn't, listen to the clip. Did you just comment without even clicking on the link.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9dude what drugs are you on?
- dalooo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10LOL!!!
Rush Limbaugh's a Jack Ass!!! I can't believe he said that, Michael J. Fox should just slap that retard... - Civil44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Intent to sell deals mainly with you having a certain amount of a drug and anything used to sell it (aka a scale or baggies). The laws differ from state to state but obviously if he had oodle and oodles of pills he probobly got off light.
- JohnnyOso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Having read most of that first link, I fell like I have wasted a solid 15 minutes of my life. That being said, It was refreshing to remind myself why I don't listen to talk radio for either side of the divide: he's spewing so much self-righteous nonsensical verbal diarrhea I feel like handing him a roll of toilet paper and asking him to flush twice.
As for taking things out of context: You did read the article yourself, right? 'cause I could be wrong here, but I think he didn't made a single point that was a) concise b) in context or c) sane. His cited testimony about Fox's claims comes from an Ob/Gyn. I could be wrong here, but Ob/Gyn + Conservative does not a neurological specialist make.
Oh well. - diggmanchu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5On a much larger note regarding today's politics, ugh. I was gonna write a much larger reply, but there's just too much to complain about the state of the Republican party (for all the reasons we already know) and the state of the Democrat party (who I want to succeed, but I still don't like the fact that they are not yet capitalizing on this Republic dis-array as much as they can).
Anyway, Bush is so conservative he's moving away from traditional conservative values that I can at least respect and be happy to be a citizen under. Those values are free market/economy, careful spending, and a protection of people's rights.
Why can't Republicans go back to their real roots and not the hypocritical "moral"/semi-fascist spend-happy government that seems to be taking shape and that many people infer they are becoming today?
Is it just the administration? Why couldn't John McCain have won the 2000 elections, ugh. He's among the closest things to a true sound Republican today, and many people would agree on me with this. - ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13Addiction is not a disease. Calling it such just absolves those who are addicted of responsibility for their actions.
Having said that, I don't understand why/how anyone takes anything this guy says seriously. It kind of scares me that I have friends who listen to this everyday and form their opinion of the world from it. - bryrb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6why are we even giving this ***** the time of day?!
- bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is that a can of hair mousse behind the monitor? Keep that ***** hair moussed you're making us laugh too hard... haha. This is better than pro wrestiling.
- Dundasbro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Shame that the video shown is so short and doesn't actually mention Fox at all, it would be nice to have seen a full thing other than being told what he was referring to.
- jdstorer2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Screw it. Why bother trying to argue with this idiots. Time to start blocking again.
- JJisKing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I had to laugh when I read all the negative comments about Rush. How many of these America-haters actually listen to him? Or heard the entire dialog about MJF? Or did they get their socialist drivel from the talking heads at ABC, CBS, PBS, NBC, CNN and the NY Times? Take a couple of weeks to actually listen to him and you'll have a different opinion about him and very probably life in general. I may not agree with everything he says, but I certainly wouldn't want him removed from the air. Although it seems to be OK with liberals that the wildly socialistic press wants to be the only game in town. Liberals say that if you have a different opinion you must be an igorant hate-monger, a religious zealot or/and a racist. And the newspapers, CNN and the national news services wonder why their market share is continuing to plummet.
No one, not even most liberals, believe them anymore. They only read/ listen to such lies because it reinforces their hate for Bush and anyone who loves this country. And NO, it is not possible to be a Democrat and be pro-America ...... that lie just doesn't work anymore.
Homosexuals, socialists, drug legalizationists, abortionists, pedophile groups, racist black/hispanic organizations, union thugs and even terrorists support the Democrats and hate Bush and Rush. ....... They aren't perfect, no one is ...... but thank heavens for them!!! - Foosinho, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7It'd help if Rush knew what the hell he was talking about.
But, as usual, he doesn't. - labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4MJ Fox does not need to.
Becuase he's the better man... - nmeadata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Rush is "entertainment radio"
Wrestling is entertainment sports. - timla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Rush has every right to get in there and voice an opinion that is opposed to what Fox was saying. Just because Fox has the disease does not necessarily mean that his point is correct.
Where Rush fall down, is that he went into the gutter. He attacked the messenger not the message. Some other counter ads that have come out recently with other celebs have done just this, voiced opposition without making personal and direct attacks on Fox.
Rush is too caught up in politics to be a real human being. He sees everything politically, he has become a symptom of the disease that is politics. - jackleman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In regards to this:
Limbaugh is a man without morals or conscious thought. Insulting Michael like he did is the equivalent of calling a paraplegic lazy because they can't get out of their wheel chair. Un-frikin-believable that people would say stuff like that. WE NEED A CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rush obviously was not making fun of people with park, he was calling MJF out for purposefully making his condition seem worse, making people feel bad, to get votes. - PhilliesBlunt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always found Hunter Thompson rather insightful actually. I guess it depends on the drug addict.
- badken, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7@ViktorVaughn: Addiction is not a disease. Calling it such just absolves those who are addicted of responsibility for their actions.
Yeah, and I suppose mental illness is just in the imagination of those who suffer from it.
Believe it or not, there are people who are not fully in control of their actions, due to defective wiring or brain chemistry, or whatever. Telling a depressed person to "just cheer up" is the same as telling an addict to "just stop doing that". Some people need help to live their day to day lives because they can't do it on their own.
Just because you've never spent time with the mentally ill doesn't mean they don't exist. - ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@badken
You're talking about two different things. No doubt there are people with chemical imbalances that have genuine mental illness. I just draw a distinction between a condition and a disease. We're basically talking semantics. Cancer is a disease. Schizophrenia is a disease. Malaria is a disease. Addiction is something that you cannot stop doing and denying agency by labeling it an uncontrollable disease does nothing to help those it affects.
The sometimes deadly condition of heroin withdrawal is a self-inflicted condition predicated by someone's consistent use of heroin. AIDS, on the other hand, can be, to a certain extent, a self-inflicted condition, but is predicated by infection of a contagious virus. Schizophrenia is an uncontrollable mental condition predicated by genetics. Can you see the difference?
I realize a tendency toward alcoholism can be genetic, it definitely runs in my family, but to call it a disease implies that one has no control.
"Just because you've never spent time with the mentally ill doesn't mean they don't exist."
How exactly did you reach this statement based on what I posted? I never denied the existence of mentally ill people, nor did I ever mention them. How do you know that I've never been around mentally ill people or that mental illness hasn't affected my family in one way or another? Your presumption is as flagrantly false as your straw man argument. - LilGator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You guys are missing the point ... going way too deep here. Rush pointed out that Fox was either exaggerating or acting. How likely is that? Very...
Why would they show an ad of someone who's symptoms can barely be noticed? At the very least, he made no attempt to keep the wild movements under control - if not exaggerating. Just look at the video of his response, is it anywhere near out of control as the ad? Of course not, there's no reason to....
Shameless, yes. A big deal like everyone's made it out to be? No.... move along... - labmouse42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fox is the guy who played the Republican kid in Family Ties.
It's ironic that Rush is slamming the young Republican idol form the 80s. - kwazyJAS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.bencardin.com/multimedia/swf/video/mjfox.swf
- vvvv, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Yeah can I have some
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Rush Limbaugh is a big fat *****. But not an idiot.
And this proves it.
The ***** couldn't argue with the need for stemcell research, and yet his agenda calls for him to oppose stemcell research, so what does he do?
Smear a sufferer of Parkinsons calling for stemcell research, of course.
And the annoying part is that people BOUGHT IT.
What's relevant here is that 1) Yes, Fox is really a sufferer of Parkinsons, and 2) yes, stem cell research is the best avenue there is to offer a cure for Parkinsons, and 3) yes, the only reason to oppose stem cell research is religiously driven political dogma.
And yes, it is really ***** low to attack someone suffering from Parkinsons for trying to find a cure, just because of your religiously driven political dogma.
I say this and I don't say it lightly: I hope Rush gets Parkinsons or Alzheimers. Really ***** soon. He's richly deserved it. And may he rot in hell. - timla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No he did not make himself a target. We chose a side, a side that shared the same views that he did. He went out and voiced his opinion.
The other side has every right to voice there opinion on why he is wrong. Just becase you voice an opinion does not mean to are fair game for personal attacks.
If that were the case, I would have started my post with "You *****" but I did not because regardless of the fact that you and I may disagree, you do not deserve a personal attack from me. - Sunwalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rush Limbaugh - Viaggravating OxyMoron
