I'm not over there, so I could be totally full of sh**, and you could be totally right. - atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Of course the controversy wasn't as big as some people wanted it to be. They wanted a smoke screen to cover the crimes committed by Israelis in Lebanon.
While people were discussing about the accuracy of smoke in the photos and how bad media is, Israel was killing 1000 people, mostly civilians and utterly destroying a country.
But, hey, we should talk about phony pictures, not about the real crimes, right? - atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually it's the other way round, Hezbollah declared that they will stop firing rockets as soon as Israel stops the bombing, while Israel didn't declare that they will stop bombing if Hezbollah stops firing the rockets.
- mockmook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1atdigg,
Last I checked Israel was targeting infrastructure/buildings of Hezbollah. They also tageted some "common" infrastructure (airport, roads, etc.). Umm, that is how you fight a war.
I know this is redundant, but some people need to ponder it:
If Hezbollah stops fighting, there will be peace.
If Israel stops fighting, Israel will be destroyed. - BiggyDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That kind of news goes against the MSM Mideast agenda.
- BiggyDiggs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yes, Israel bombs civilian-populated areas (after dropping evacuation leaflets). They also protect their own civilians.
Hezbollah sacrifices their civilians for propaganda, and they stage news. Do you disagree with that?
By the way, did you see that twisted, staged rescue video in Qana where the director used that dead little boy like a stage prop? That's ALL you need to see. - atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually I didn't see that Qana picture, I try to avoid looking at pictures of dead people. I looked at the fake Beirut photo only because that story was published on digg, otherwise I wouldn't have seen it.
BTW, the real photo didn't look anything less damaging for Israelis, you shouldn't assume so quickly that people have a false image about the war because they see staged photos -- the reality is pretty damning for how Israel is conducting the war without any respect for civilians (not that Hamas is any better).
Israel admitted that they bomb roads, bridges, airports, cities, that's enough for me to make an image of what Israel is doing (by their own admissions) I don't need propaganda to have a bad image about Israel.
Also, they said that they let people know before they bomb their houses, my question is what did those houses do to Israel? I would understand if Israel would try to kill terrorists that hide in those houses, but since they let people know that they are going to bomb their house it doesn't seem the case. To me that looks only like collective punishment "people from Lebanon fired rockets in Israel, we are going to bomb your houses and apartments" that's of course a crime of war.
