- klhammy, on 10/17/2008, -4/+109He'll still brag about his record on the environment, just like he brags about his ratings from Veterans' organizations, who also give him consistently low ratings.
- AmericanElitist, on 10/17/2008, -7/+90that's ZERO as in ZERO. As bad as can possibly be done.
- hawkeye17, on 10/17/2008, -8/+77McCain/Palin.....The change our planet can't afford.
- FiestyPumpkin, on 10/18/2008, -3/+63And he makes the same dumbfounded face he did when Obama said "zero"!
- jaxoracing, on 10/18/2008, -3/+60The report shows he is zero % in 2007 as well!!
- imakethenews, on 10/18/2008, -16/+70Obama only scored an 18% rating on the same scorecard. Environmental issues are not what separate these two candidates.
- algaeturd, on 10/18/2008, -8/+59McCain: "You still haven't told us how much this fine is going to be."
Obama: "It's going to be ZERO."
McCain: "ZERO?" (mouth agape, confused, baffled look on his face.)
Obama: "You know...ZERO...as in the rating you received from the League of Conservation. And the amount of people who think you won the last debate." - inactive, on 10/17/2008, -3/+44o

can you hear the echo? - kss42, on 10/18/2008, -1/+35http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/epic_movie/
Wow, even Epic Movie got 2%. Can McCain be worse than Epic Movie? - viserov, on 10/18/2008, -2/+34I wish I could miss several months of work and still get paid.
- jboskoff, on 10/18/2008, -3/+35Only about two points lower than his college GPA.
- Ganpachi, on 10/18/2008, -2/+34 MCCAIN: Zero?
OBAMA: Zero, because as I said in our last debate and I'll repeat, John, you are a big fat loser. - inactive, on 10/18/2008, -6/+28I have to wonder why you're being buried. Is it somehow not fair to point out Obama's rating?
- Ajajadude, on 10/18/2008, -1/+22...which should say something in itself.
- honutt, on 10/18/2008, -0/+20They are both low numbers because they've missed practically all the votes in 2008.
The lifetime ratings are probably more reflective of the candidates' positions on the environment... McCain scores a 24% while Obama scores 72%.
One also has to consider that the time Obama has spent campaigning is a much greater proportion of his time in the senate compared to McCain, so it is reasonable assume Obama's score would be possibly a lot higher if he had not been spending the entire year campaigning. - enantiodromia, on 10/18/2008, -0/+20yeah, he got to use that "do you know who my father is?" line a lot, including that time Annapolis rejected his application the first time for being such a poor student.
- BossKey, on 10/18/2008, -2/+20At this point McCain has certainly crossed a whole lot of people.
- 5celery, on 10/18/2008, -4/+21nail # 5123
- richlizard24, on 10/18/2008, -7/+24To be fair, McCain scored a 0% because he missed all the votes that the LCV uses to calculate the percentage. BTW, I am an Obama supporter.
- orion846, on 10/18/2008, -0/+16aren't you a little behind on the talking points timeline? i think we're even past the ayers thing already and you're still on that
- financedude2, on 10/18/2008, -0/+16894th in his class! That's a fact.
- oblique63, on 10/18/2008, -0/+15ok, there is wayyy too much wrong with your comment for me to even try to correct, and I hate to be 'that guy', but I just have to bring this up...
"a set fine defined on your gross income"
despite the poor phrasing, what you are basically describing are TAXES... and America has had taxes since like ever... so does that mean, by your obscure logic somehow, that America has always been a socialist country??
*gasp* indeed...
(at your ignorance) - heystoopid, on 10/18/2008, -0/+13So by your stated definition George W Bush must be a true evil socialist for after all he donated one hundred and twenty three(123) odd billion dollars of taxpayers money to the ailing insurance giant AIG , and still the senior management of that company , party on like the frat boys did when George was at Harvard University .
- Lavarock, on 10/18/2008, -2/+15Remember those maniac pollution guys on Captain Planet? They couldn't be scored any lower than 0.
- CaptOblivious, on 10/18/2008, -0/+13Then it's good we didn't select you as our candidate, as you have (again) proven yourself to be a perfect moron.
- honeybrass, on 10/18/2008, -5/+17Zero seems to be the bane of McCain recently. First Joe, now this.
- Dundasbro, on 10/18/2008, -1/+12Something must be wrong here, nothing is worse than epic movie.
- ator1, on 10/18/2008, -3/+14Zero. Point. Zero.
- Tenlow, on 10/18/2008, -8/+1918% > 0%. Welcome to math.
- Viperidae, on 10/18/2008, -0/+10I am an Obama supporter but the only reason McCain got zero is because he didn't vote on any environmental issues.
Obama only voted on 2 hence his 18% - financedude2, on 10/18/2008, -0/+10He was never a muslim. Get your facts straight and stop taking ***** smear emails and fox news reports as true.
- akchrs, on 10/18/2008, -2/+11LOL!!
- CaptOblivious, on 10/18/2008, -1/+10No,
Try some logic,
Republican policies have driven this country nearly into the ground.
McCain is a republican, who has cast his votes to support the desires of the top republican (Bush) 90% of the time.
Therefore McCain will continue that 90% he approves of.
That doesn't seem to be too good an idea to me. - TheVirus, on 10/18/2008, -1/+10Not sure, man. Zero is pretty cheap.
- CaptOblivious, on 10/18/2008, -1/+10No enantiodromia that's really the heart of the problem,
Their entire party has been taken over by neoconservative war hawk fascists and they just aren't smart enough to realize it. - dave11980, on 10/18/2008, -2/+10I believe the point was that on a 0 to 100 scale, 0 and 18 are fairly close, which is right.
- hfactor, on 10/18/2008, -4/+12He said 18% and 0% don't separate the candidates. Which implies 18% is not much different from 0%. Which is wrong.
- metapop, on 10/18/2008, -3/+11the first time i read this, i thought it said "league of conservative voters"... but somehow, i don't think the results would be any different.
- enantiodromia, on 10/18/2008, -3/+11It's funny to me "Conservationism" is seen as a Liberal value.
Hey Conservatives, do you even remember what you are trying to conserve anymore? - CaptOblivious, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7See?
More republican smears.
Obama is not / was not never a muslim.
First you roast him for having a pro-black christan pastor then when that doesn't work you call him a muslim.
erikfaccount75 Do you ever get tired of being seen as a lying worthless Republican?
We can tell you are lying, no one believes you. No one. - financedude2, on 10/18/2008, -0/+6There is nothing wrong with being Muslim, but it's a scare tactic targeted at predominately white, midwest and southern areas where people do equate Muslim with terrorism or bad. My issue is that you're spreading incorrect information and trying to pass it off as fact, and if you kept up with the news there have been a number of false emails and news reports, on fox of course, that have reported him as muslim or formerly muslim.
- Darkaged, on 10/18/2008, -0/+7Have you seen Disaster movie?
- jimrin, on 10/18/2008, -3/+10It's amazing how many people, or perhaps I should say Republicans, miss the point.
Not only did McCain get a 0% in 2008, but he got a 0% in 2007.
While we can understand that missing some of the votes was caused by campaigning... but missing every single vote for 2 years? If we look at Obama's 2008 record, it is also dismal at 18%, but if we look at his 2007 record, we see it was 67%.
Why is it difficult for people to see the big picture? - BossKey, on 10/18/2008, -2/+8They're conservatives. They are all about conservation.
I don't know what the alleged "conservatives" on the Right can be all about if they keep opposing conservation itself. - guyinjapan, on 10/18/2008, -4/+10NO NOT ON DIGG
- tommq, on 10/18/2008, -0/+6To be fair, it could have been worse: he could have been in the high thousands. No one knows how many students were in his graduating class. Oh wait, there was only 899. He was fifth from bottom...
- CaptOblivious, on 10/18/2008, -1/+7Please pay attention,
Again,
Obama and McCane were BOTH mostly NOT PRESENT for the votes that counted for this group as they were CAMPAIGNING.
I guess Obama hit one or two? I think you'd have to look at a previous years judgment by this group to get any meaningful numbers on what the two did that they count as important.
However, lying about your candidate or lying about your candidate's opponent is stupid unacceptable and more to the point, thanks to the internet COMPLETELY TRANSPARENT in any case.
And FYI, that DOES go both ways.
It just appears that republicans aren't smart enough to believe that other people can see through (or research through) their lies.
Too bad for them
And FYI, that DOES go both ways. - maldovix, on 10/18/2008, -4/+10hate to break the party but obama only scored 18, which only slightly beats the republican average rating of 15, but doesn't come anywhere close to the democrat average of 97
http://lcv.org/2008-pdf.pdf
mostly it is due to not being present for the vote. - inactive, on 10/18/2008, -0/+6You mean THIS rating?
http://iava.www.capwiz.com/bio/id/192&submit.x=7&s ... - financedude2, on 10/18/2008, -1/+6Dear idiot, The league of conservation voters is an independent organization. Just because thinkprogress links external information doesn't make it any less relevant.
