- voxlisa999, on 06/19/2008, -14/+79Women's issues go beyond party and ideology. I applaud these wonderful Republican women who are saying "No" to McCain. Welcome over to the side of hope, change and honesty. Oh, and no more Wars on false pretenses too! Equal pay for equal work- don't vote McCain. He voted against it. You want contraceptives covered by insurance? Don't vote McCain. He voted against it. Mammogram screenings? He voted against it. Need I go on?
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -7/+40I'm so confused now. Let me sort this out:
1) Female Democrats are voting for McCain because they're angry that Hillary lost to Obama.
2) Female Republicans are voting for Obama because McCain just doesn't get how key issues effect their lives
3) So where does that leave Female Independents? Ron Paul, maybe? - Tryptomine, on 06/20/2008, -1/+30Rich white men who hold the majority of influence in the country?
- rheaume, on 06/20/2008, -6/+35I thought Republican women voted the way their husbands told them to?
- mnemy, on 06/20/2008, -8/+35Great! The crazy fem-nazi (not feminist) Hilary supporters that are voting for McCain as revenge, and the more reasonable Republican feminists move to Obama.
I like this trade. - pintomp3, on 06/20/2008, -3/+30diebold.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -7/+26"Digg...a socialist Marxist site"
Wow.
No wonder you're a Republican. You're dumb as *****. - inactive, on 06/20/2008, -7/+26END WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE
lol
but srsly.. - bgrah449, on 06/19/2008, -2/+19Of the two, you mean? Because if your branch out, I think you could probably find a more counterproductive party.
- JHB800, on 06/20/2008, -2/+19Except these aren't reasonable republican feminists. They're from california, which means they're left of center republicans; they wouldn't have voted for any Republican candidate regardless.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -5/+20 Shouldn't good Republican ladies be at home taking care of little Republican's?
- Gemfinder, on 06/19/2008, -9/+22There it is, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Emphasis on the "Ladies." :)
So I beg, who's left to vote for McCain? - ehalasey, on 06/19/2008, -7/+20You know female Democrats who are voting McCain? Can they read?
- MacEnvy, on 06/20/2008, -4/+15@lajaw
Yes, chico is rather far left ... toward the socialist side of the equation. And thus he'd be much better prepared to judge the leanings of Digg, rather than a far-right schill like you. Since he can see that Obama isn't anywhere close to what a true socialist would put forward, perhaps it would do you well to consider the fact that he doesn't consider Digg a "Marxist stronghold".
But I suppose that's just too logical for you to agree with, yes? - AugustusOsari, on 06/19/2008, -10/+20GOP? I cannot see a more counterproductive party for women.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -2/+10"You will not be able to come up with a list because at most I can generate 50 Diggs at Digg.com on any story I submit"
That's because you submit ultra right wing crap. It's not Digg's fault that the ultra right wing has failed to deliver good government so dramatically that they are now tremendously unpopular.
Maybe you guys should try not sucking so hard? - fivefootfour, on 06/20/2008, -1/+9Do you call your mother every time you get in an argument?
- schrutefan, on 06/20/2008, -4/+12You know what McCain is thinking: *****!
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -6/+14"chicofaraby, so you don't think YOU are a socialist or far left leaning liberal?"
I am a socialist. I don't own Digg.
Are you always this dumb? - pintomp3, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7what does wanting votes to be counted properly have to do with socialism?
- coolkatz321, on 06/20/2008, -2/+9I'm guessing that him calling his wife a "*****" didn't resonate very well amongst GOP female voters.
- Khanvalescent, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7Little Republicans' what?
- manogamez, on 06/20/2008, -5/+11Ummmm...Wtf are you talking about?
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.php?cid= ... - NightVortez, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6Well I agree with him more than I do with Obama as far as issues such as the second amendment rights and healthcare but just because I add someone as a candidate on digg doesn't mean I'm even close to voting for them. Not to mention that I've added him way before he flipped on the torture issue, I probably should remove it now.
He's not the only candidate by the way, I've also had/have Ron Paul and Mike Gravel on there but they both dropped out so it doesn't display them anymore. - zombies187, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6Are we all going to ID each other politically? Or couldn't we just discuss issues? Whats this or anything else got to do with socialism?
- ehalasey, on 06/19/2008, -4/+10No, the media is just having a hard time drumming up things to talk about now that we're finally down to two candidates, and business as usual turned out to be relatively boring. Obama's had an outstanding amount of support among women throughout his candidacy, and continues to maintain that level of support. The media is making the female vote an issue simply because Clinton made it as far as she did. Meanwhile, what they're really doing is dissecting the voter pie in order to recycle yet another non-story so that they can subtly push an anti-McCain agenda.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -5/+11uhhh.... I am proud to be a socialist.
Did you have a point? - inactive, on 06/20/2008, -2/+8"McCain is a left of center republican."
WTF? Sarcasm? - NightVortez, on 06/20/2008, -3/+9Again, I'm sick of this generalization about what a certain demographic votes for, just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm for or against McCain, it's not in the least bit aspect of consideration for me. Issues matter to me the same as everyone else, something like a vagina wouldn't change that, what is wrong with media and their need for collectivism? Can we stop looking at people based on what sex, race, class they belong to and start looking at them as individuals? It's so sickening to see something like this on digg.
Now having said that I am against McCain, but it's not because I'm a woman, it is, amongst other things, because he supports foreign expansion and now from the looks of it torture. - Laminarcissus, on 06/20/2008, -1/+7I don't think your careful genetic parsing would help him much if he were caught by a few Klan members walking alone down a dark road. Ask them whether he's black or white.
- salinemist, on 06/20/2008, -1/+6Yes, because women hate it when they're treated as equals.
- haydesigner, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5Why?
Is that some sort of test a president might face when dealing with other world leaders? Or financial crisis? - Harbinger67, on 06/20/2008, -3/+8Stop whining, I can hear the oven timer going off.
- Barackalypse, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5So, to summarize the article, women's issues include abortion and sex education. Which, if true, speaks quite badly about women and their ability to identify the real problems in the world. Does abortion have anything to do with our $9 trillion dollar deficit, war in Iraq, massive looming burdens for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the falling dollar, and vanishing civil liberties? If this is truly what women are concerned about, we should repeal the 19th Amendment and take away their right to vote. Of course there's another explanation, that is is just propaganda supporting the agenda of a few individuals and trying to make it seem like its relevant to a larger group.
- bgrah449, on 06/20/2008, -1/+6I know a lot of people take this rational route, and I have to admit it is rational. But there is a long tradition in the U.S. of half-black people both identifying themselves, as well as being identified by others, as black. As a temperamental conservative, I bow to tradition.
- Infidelcastr0, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5I didn't think robots were allowed to vote.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -3/+8Only if you are after "equality" instead of "liberty".
- Infidelcastr0, on 06/20/2008, -2/+6Those goddamn lefties wanting their votes to count. Spoiled brats, that's what they are.
- dagamer34, on 06/20/2008, -2/+6Which McCain are we talking about? The reported "maverick" McCain of 2000 which had a slight chance of beating Obama or the Bush Republican McCain of 2008 who thinks this race is just like 2004?
- YukosEyes, on 06/20/2008, -6/+10In 2008, Women in the US still make about a quarter less to every dollar (25% less) than men do for the same job and despite having the same, or more, qualifications. This makes it harder to match your male partner's contribution to living expenses. I still pay half the expenses despite the unequal playing field.
In academia, one subversive way they pay women instructors and professors less is by giving them more work (on committees and such). - Jlaugh, on 06/20/2008, -1/+5Isn't the mainstream media run by military companies?
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -0/+4John McCain is in trouble with conservatives, because he isn't one.
- Baldar, on 06/20/2008, -1/+5My wife is a Republican woman (in Illinois too.. not sure why that matters, but it's been mentioned above quite a bit), voting for Barr, Baldwin, or Nader (don't ask.. I don't get it on the last one either). Neither McCain or Obama will get her vote though. Guaranteed.
- confuseddesi, on 06/20/2008, -5/+9By prominent Republican women leaders, they brought Republican Women for Choice. Of course they wouldn't like McCain. What a skewed representation of prominent Republican women SFGate. Your liberal propaganda never ceases to amaze me.
- freshgrease, on 06/20/2008, -0/+4Wife: Vote Obama or no sex for 4 years
Husband: ok.............*sigh* - wonderworm, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3[McCain] "Vote for me you trollup faced c*nts!"
Grossly disrespecting your wife in public and cheating on your previous wife, then leaving her does not exactly exude family values. - Lilitou, on 06/20/2008, -1/+4Not sure why you're getting buried for that. Jim Webb's record regarding women is... less than stellar, to put it mildly. I ***** hate the bastard.
- Baldar, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Well, if the economy weren't so screwed that families really need two incomes. And it was sarcasm anyways. Mine go to a relatives while we're at work.
- Kanuhduh, on 06/19/2008, -2/+5This is where the ignorance of many Digg users shows up. I, personally, have never called a woman a *****. Hence the changing of the name to John McCanin and the use of quotations.
