- diggerydood, on 10/11/2007, -19/+68I'm waiting for her "let them eat cake" comment. What kind of Kool-Aid do they drink at the White House?

"STAY in your own country and don't come over here to ***** up mine."
If only the USA had taken your advice. - vatosplace, on 10/11/2007, -27/+60Laura Bush killed a guy. His name was Michael Douglas.
According to the two-page accident report released Wednesday by the city of Midland, Laura Welch was driving her Chevrolet sedan on a clear night shortly after 8 p.m. on Nov. 6, 1963, when she drove into an intersection and struck a Corvair sedan driven by 17-year-old Michael Douglas. - hawkeye17, on 10/11/2007, -13/+43Say "hello" to the folks at Stepford for us Laura.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -21/+45We've allowed less than a thousand of the millions of dispaced Iraqis to come here.
Laura's almost as dumb as her husband. - YellowStar, on 10/11/2007, -6/+29She says, "We welcomed more refugees than all the other nations in the world combined."
Whooah nelly, that's a mighty Texas-sized whopper !! Do they not understand the meaning of the word "hyperbole" in Texas? - pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -17/+36wow, her and DUI george make quite the team.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+25Well, it all depends on how you define "many".She's putting quite a spin on it, but what she said is not technically false.
- zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18I guess when you say Bush is a liar, you don't really need to specify.
- karelian, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11This is the same reptilian bimbo who claims that nobody suffers more from Iraq war than her George.
Can anyone imagine the ***** that would have followed if Hillary had uttered a comment like that after tens of thousands of US casualties? The US media hushed the whole thing - apparently MSM has decided that Laura is not to be scolded for even the most moronic and clearly dishonest claims.
That's the American media for you - reflexively conservative. This is backed up by the concrete evidence - the way Laura is treated with kid gloves and Hillary was not. People screeching liberal bias tend to handily brush off facts like this. - saigumi, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15Well, that's all what your definition of "is" is.
- Calcularius, on 10/11/2007, -13/+21@cbuddha42
"Um, 500 people sounds like a bunch to me"
That's out of 3.7 million Iraqis who have been driven from their homes.
So, shut the ***** up, asshat, and get that 'buddha' reference out of your name.
You make me vomit. - MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14Sure Laura, they can stay in your room.
- Teku, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Well I always thought 700 people was encompassed by the word 'many'. 700 is the figure that was on dateline last night when they talked about Sweden taking in some seventeen thousand so far, and perhaps another thirteen this year.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Did anybody watch CNN's report yesterday on how US treats Iraqi refugees?
- redrock34, on 10/11/2007, -6/+11It's my understanding that countries that aren't even in the war are welcoming a lot more Iraqi refugees than the United States.
- Osjpr, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8Charlotte_Web: And the dumbassery of yourself, never ceases to amaze.
- thepat, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9I think he's saying that the way the Iraqi feel about the US invading is the same way we feel about 9/11.
Not that I agree.. just clarifying. - scroobyrooberoo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Yes, it was SWEDEN who tipped off the Allied forces as to the first sightings of the Bismark; then NORWAY told the allies its exact location out of the fjords which they then used to locate and destroy it. It was the Scandinavians who helped shuttle thousands of Jews to safety, to their own peril. Yes, they did not put up a frontal defense and attack, but you see, war is frequently the art of subtlety, and they did it quite expertly - Something your ***** Presidente can't figure out after losing a pointless war now going on 5 years. Please do us a favor and sign up to serve your beloved president and GOP.
- Matthew720, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7The fact of the matter is that out of the thousands of Iraqis who have applied for immigration to the United States only a handful have been granted entrance. Another fact is that Sweden (which happens to be half way across the world from Iraq) has admitted more Iraqi refugees than the U.S. has. Once in Sweden refugees have access to a wide range of government subsidized social services, including healthcare and education.
- honestjoe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It is common knowledge that there are some members of the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia, who (not so) secretly sympathize with Osama Bin Laden, let alone Bin Laden’s own relatives. They should have been interrogated for hours, even days, at a time. We now know (see below) some of them had possessed valuable knowledge. Instead, they were allowed to leave the United States, without being hindered. http://www.judicialwatch.org/printer_3664.shtml
And some of those flights took place while commercial traffic in the United States was under shoot-to-kill lockdown!
Who has direct financial ties to an oil, energy and weapons investment group which has raked in $Billions as a result of this War?
The Bin Laden family!
The bin Laden family has very strong ties in the Carlyle Group, a Washington-based investment company focused primarily in the arms, security, and energy industries.
Who was sued by the 9/11 victims family members for complicity in the attacks with a funding network that went directly to the terrorist?
The Saudi Royal Family!
The Saudi Royal Family also has very strong ties to the Carlyle Group, which invests heavily in defense companies and is the nation’s 10th largest defense contractor with ties to Enron, Global Crossing, among others.
Who helped arange the evacuation of members of the Bin Laden Family after 9/11 and defended the Saudis against a lawsuit brought by the 9/11 victims family members?
Osama bin Laden and a man who happens to be the senior counsel for the Carlyle Group!
Carlyle has profited immensely from the Afghanistan and Iraqi wars. Its legal matters are handled by Baker, Botts---James Baker’s law firm in Texas. Mr. Baker also has a personal interest in Carlyle, amounting to some $180 million. Another client of Baker, Botts is Exxon-Mobil.
Who on the morning of September 11th had a investor conference with members of the familys incontrovertibly tied to 9/11?
boomerius said:
"again - Bush heads to war... bin ladens are making money of the weapons industry, into which they have invested greatly..."
The Carlyle Group held an investor conference in the Ritz Carlton in Washington DC on the morning of September 11th, 2001 with members of the Bin Laden family and ect, tied to 9/11.
The Carlyle Group, a Washington, DC based private equity firm that employs numerous former high-ranking government officials with ties to both political parties, was the ninth largest Pentagon contractor between 1998 and 2003, an ongoing Center for Public Integrity investigation into Department of Defense contracts found. According to this report, overall, six private investment firms, including Carlyle, received nearly $14 billion in Pentagon deals between 1998 and 2003. Considering the fact that Saudi Arabia is the top buyer of the U.S. weapons industry, Carlyle’s investment and its stake, and of course Jimmy Baker’s far reaching influence within the Pentagon and congress, everything seems to come together and fit perfectly to shield this foreign interest no matter the price to be paid by the American public.
FBI Special agent Robert Wright broke down when testifying that he had been gagged and could not reveal the true extent of what he knew about the Bush-Bin Laden connection and 911. his lawyer stepped up and said live on C-Span that "The Bush Family vacations with the Bin Ladens".
It was Bush himself who signed document W199I, ordering the FBI to back off investigating the Bin Ladens before 911.
It was George W Bush who went into business with Bin laden's brother in the 1970s.
It is George W Bush's father who is STILL DOING business with the Bin Ladens via the Carlyle Group.
The ties run deep and all lead to money, huge amounts of money. This is how the Bushes do business, this is how they have always done business, they own the best enemies money can buy.
According to U.S. intelligence reports the Saudi government played a direct role in funding 9/11 and Saudi Arabia has an active role as a player in the nuclear black-market. Also the U.S. State Department’s 2000 Human Rights Report shows Saudi Arabia is a brutal dictatorship that makes Iraq under Saddam Hussein look like Disneyworld.
The Treasury and State Departments have catalogued the Saudi government’s decades of support for Bin Laden and al-Qaeda.
Senator Graham’s Revelation
It has been established that the 9/11 hijackers had a support network in the U.S. that included agents of the Saudi government, and that the Bush administration and the FBI blocked a congressional investigation into that relationship.
In his book, “Intelligence Matters,” Senator Bob Graham made clear that some details of that financial support from Saudi Arabia were in the 27 pages of the congressional inquiry’s final report that were blocked from release by the administration, despite the pleas of leaders of both parties in the House and Senate intelligence committees.
“The most serious omission, in my view, is part 4 of the report, which is entitled Finding, Discussion and Narrative Regarding Certain Sensitive National Security Matters. Those 27 pages have almost been entirely censured. The declassified version of this finding tells the American people that our investigation developed information suggesting specific sources of foreign support for some of the September 11 hijackers while they were in the United States. In other words, officials of a foreign government are alleged to have aided and abetted the terrorist attacks on our country on September 11, which took over 3,000 lives.”
“Our investigators found a CIA memo dated August 2, 2002, whose author concluded that there is incontrovertible evidence that there is support for these terrorists within the Saudi government. On September 11, America was not attacked by a nation-state, but we had just discovered that the attackers were actively supported by one, and that state was our supposed friend and ally Saudi Arabia.”
“We had discovered an FBI asset who had a close relationship with the terrorists; a terrorist support network that went through the Saudi Embassy; and a funding network that went through the Saudi Royal family.” - framitz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Interesting... I was just thinking last evening that this doe eyed dummy at least has enough sense to keep her mouth shut...
Damn! was I wrong! - phike, on 10/11/2007, -12/+16Why does lie #145,133,375 from the Bush Administration get dugg up to this length when this lie isn't even that appalling relative to many others? Not to mention it may not even be a lie.......by "many", Laura might mean 6 (out of thousands)
- scroobyrooberoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Someone pass that she-douche another Xanax.
- scroobyrooberoo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5It's that the country is hitting bottom b/c of people like you. Laura could use some more of your salad tossing; Get to Work, rancho. It's what Jesus would want.
- zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Hey, if I was an Iraqi, I wouldn't want to live in the country that's responsible for slaughtering all of my family/friends/neighbors/extended family either.
- Matthew720, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Gabriels:
Ignoring the fact that Nazi Germany has nothing to do with this crisis or today's Sweden, the fact is that you make it sound as if there are more refugees applying to enter Sweden than there are to enter the US is ludicrous at best.
That's not the case. There are more refugees applying to enter the U.S. than there are to enter Sweden. It’s easier for many Iraqis to IMPROVE their English than having to LEARN a new language like Swedish.
Besides, your argument isn't valid at all. And, the link to Nazi Germany is amateurish at best. Next time you might want to add some lightning bolts around to your post. It’s more alarming than throwing in “Nazis”. - Orion682, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Hateful rhetoric is hateful rhetoric. Left or Right makes no difference. With the exception that the Right tends to give their hate-mongers more air-time :)
- hmmmok, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6A little out of context, but thanks for the link.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Countdown to mentioning/blaming Clinton... BINGO!
- Calcularius, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10Hey Laura,
Drop another Prozac and STFU. - samk, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7Misquoted. She did not say many Iraqi refugees have been welcomed.
She actually said: "“We WILL welcome many of those refugees, both from Iraq and Afghanistan into the United States.”
It's perhaps too subtle a distinction for some. The point is that our current refugee policy for Iraqis sucks, and it's changing for the better. - cbuddha42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@ Calcularius
I am sorry your stomach is turned by my words, but there is really no need to be so hateful.
Once again, I think "many" refers to the actual number, not the percentage.
If she had said most, I would agree with you that her statement was inaccurate.
If 500 out of 505 is many, then 500 out of 3.7 million is many as well. - williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Yeah, "hung" would be just disturbing.
- goffy59, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I wish more Americans would be like you. I'm an American, but pretty much ashamed of it. I want to leave and go to another country, but I dont want to be looked at like bush butt ***** me like he did all the soldiers/our government. But hell whatever. Digg!!++
- DStudios, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5"As an elected political official, she should be shot, tried for treason, then HUNG."
Hanged... Hanged is the term you were looking for.
So why are we all up in arms over how many Iraqi's choose to come here? The article makes special note of the number of refugees in Syria... I wonder why? It couldn't be that Syria is a lot closer to Iraq than the United States are could it?
No that can't be it. - cyberstall, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4http://i7.tinypic.com/4p96dyq.jpg
She must be on something. - erickovacs, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5stupid #$%^& I hate her and her douche bag husband
- thelegacy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3and were doing a swell job of that.
- jason469, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Does anyone else think that both Laura and her husband have a funny blank face look to them? almost looks like they don't ever know WTF is going on around them.
- stepnw1f, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2OMG.... it speaks! And I thought she was just a prop.
- bshock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They say that women will eventually come to take on the characteristics of their husbands. Apparently this has happened in the case of Mrs. Bush, who seems to have lost both IQ points and honesty.
- Jagula, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@sibhod
Well said. I've logged in just to digg you up. - willgill, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How many of these bias, editorial, "thinksocialism...err progress" stories do we have to endure? Should conservatives start posting Drudge Report and News Max stories? I don't see any difference.
- bassjam5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You know if the Bushies were really Christians I would agree with them sometimes, but why do most so called Christians forget about Jesus when there is a conflict. It's easy to love your friends. They don't follow the teachings of love and forgiveness. Bush doesn't try talk to any Countries that don't do as he says. Now how is that even close to Christianity .
- mstoneburner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Um, yeah I can, but I don't feel compelled to adjust my political views to match the inscriptions found on French manufactured statues.
- markgl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1why does everythink progress story make it to the top? I swear there has to be a mass group of people timing when i story is added and then digging the crap out of it.
- Matthew720, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Gabriels:
"Sweden, isn't that the place that put up a real good fight with the Nazis?
Oh wait, they crumbled like the paper nation they've always been."
--- --- ---
It's funny how you can pull facts centuries apart to make your argument work. It's desperate at best. The statement about Nazi Germany has nothing to do with the second half of your post. That sounds like Bill O'reilly . Try again!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Refugee groups aren't stupid. They tell people where the best places to go if you're fleeing a conflict. They actually gauge which country will give you the most and then direct people seeking asylum or sanctuary to these nations. Sweden is #1 on that list."
--- --- ---
That doesn't change the fact that out of the thousands that applied to get into the U.S. only a few hundred were allowed in. We should be doing more than any other nation in helping these refugees.
But, again, nice try at making your argument sound logical and factual by throwing Nazi Germany in there to give the impression to those with kindergarten level education that you've just refuted the facts in my post. - GabrielS, on 10/11/2007, -7/+8Well, yeah. When there is a war going on you go to the nearest point you can actually reach to seek sanctuary. It's not plausible for Iraqis to plan on fleeing conflict in the USA. They go to Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran. You know, THE NEAREST COUNTRIES TO THEM.
- rot97, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2you dont actually expect the first lady to know how our country's going... do u?
