- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+126Here's the original Rolling Stone article:
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/13893143/the_last_confessions_of_e_howard_hunt/print
"E. Howard scribbled the initials "LBJ," standing for Kennedy's ambitious vice president, Lyndon Johnson. Under "LBJ," connected by a line, he wrote the name Cord Meyer. Meyer was a CIA agent whose wife had an affair with JFK; later she was murdered, a case that's never been solved. Next his father connected to Meyer's name the name Bill Harvey, another CIA agent; also connected to Meyer's name was the name David Morales, yet another CIA man and a well-known, particularly vicious black-op specialist. And then his father connected to Morales' name, with a line, the framed words "French Gunman Grassy Knoll."
So there it was, according to E. Howard Hunt. LBJ had Kennedy killed. It had long been speculated upon. But now E. Howard was saying that's the way it was. And that Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't the only shooter in Dallas. There was also, on the grassy knoll, a French gunman, presumably the Corsican Mafia assassin Lucien Sarti, who has figured prominently in other assassination theories." - OnAnyMouse, on 10/12/2007, -9/+99"What is more likely that every major event in history is a big conspiracy or things are as they seem? "
No one in this thread has argued that "every major event in history is a big conspiracy ". No one can reasonably dispute, however, that there have never been any conspiracies. There were a great many small ones. Teapot Dome, Boston Tea Party, Slavery, Racial Apartheid, Gender discrimination against men, and against women. KKK, British treatment of colonists as second class citizens, etc,
People are arguing that the JFK assassination was one conspiracy.
9/11 was, by definition, a conspiracy. Whether it was a US Government conspiracy or one involving as few people as the hijackers themselves, is up for debate.
http://word.sc/conspiracy - physphd, on 10/12/2007, -16/+101boredandold,
You are aware that the most recent government word on the murder is that there was a conspiracy, aren't you? In 1976, the House of Representatives' Select Committee on Assassinations found that there was almost certainly a conspiracy and recommended further investigation which has never happened.
I have no idea about this particular story and this particular guy, but the lone gunman theory is laughable. - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+72It wasn't Keith Hernandez, there was a second spitter!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+68The guy who made up the Loch Ness Monster story and photographs admitted on his deathbed that it was all faked.
Yet people still believe in the Loch Ness Monster. Personally I disbelieve that JFK was killed. He's partying it up with Elvis, Kurt Kobain, HItler, and Jim Morrison at an old lodge somewhere in the Catskill mountains. - salpairodice, on 10/12/2007, -10/+64Uh, no - after the staged assassination, they operated on JFK to make him appear as a black man.
He's currently in a retirement home with Elvis fighting the undead. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51"Even if true, who or what entity ordered LBJ to do it?"
While I'm not a tinfoil wearing conspiracy nut... did you know that JFK signed an order to abolish the Federal Reserve (world bankers) just 3 weeks prior to his assassination?
Something to think about. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49Why dont they use those computers they have in CSI i am sure they could find the reflection of the "real killer" in someones eyeball and magnify it 1000000x , then apply a special filter that makes 2 pixels into a crystal clear image of a face.

- Gholas, on 10/12/2007, -12/+48Everyone knows that JFK traveled back in time and assassinated himself to save humanity from an apocalyptic future.
- BESTenemy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33 Lyndon Johnson was the next president in line after JFK, what got him there? Federal Reserve needed to get rid of executive order #11-1-10 - proposed silver backed currency standard JFK signed. First thing LBJ did after getting into the office was rejecting 11-1-10. Maybe the deal was between the FED and LBJ along the lines of: "We take care of the presidency, secure you a seat and you take care of the bill for us". FED had the motif and the influence to execute an assassination. All they needed was a man willing to swipe the dirt under the rug after.

"Oh LBJ that crazy Democrat!
It's funny to watch a generation look to Bush as "evil" when those of us who remember LBJ look to the assasinations of JFK, RFK, and MLK and we understand a leader who was really drunk with power and who fits the the label of "evil" much better than Bush ever will."
Some people prefer to worry about more topical concerns, because we can at least change them as, ya know, they are happening now. Comparisons to past leaders doesn't make Bush less evil... - techsyslonghorn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32what you're saying us Texans are crazy? Well.. you're right.
- jackhole, on 10/12/2007, -17/+47Interesting questions are raised by the circumstances of Hunt's testimony.
1) Was he of sound mind and body? FTA: "That time in Miami, with Saint [his son] by his bed and disease eating away at him and him thinking he's six months away from death, E. Howard finally put pen to paper and started writing."
That his writing consisted of scrawling out a minimal brainstorming web and one sentence fragment does not make me confident he was.
2) Was he coerced? FTA: "Saint had been working toward this moment for a long while, and now it was going to happen. He got his father an A&W diet root beer, then sat down in the old man's wheelchair and waited."
If this had been a will, you would say the son was watching over his dad like a vulture.
I also hate the tone that every self-import conspiracy theorist takes when discussing why their pet project isn't popular. "If you've been following JFK's assassination for a long time..." why no, I'd moved on. I guess that makes me ignorant, huh? Or, "[to accept my theory] is to tumble into ontological uncertainty, so deep and dark, as to make us never believe another government press release again. And we can't have that now, can we?"
I guess if you don't think LBJ had JFK killed, its because you're a flawed person who can't stand uncertainly for a period longer than 2 minutes. Whatever. - 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32Dont forget Tupac (2pac?)
- vulgrin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34Don't forget Walt Disney!
- Aurra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27W. Mark Felt admitted he was Deep Throat two years ago...and he's still alive. It wasn't as much of a "death-bed confession" as it was an "article in Vanity Fair."
- Mutton, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Don't you see, man!?!? This is just a viral marketing campaign for A&W root beer!
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Okay, so I was in Dallas once, and I thought, "I should go down to the Book Depository." They have a nice museum there. You can't look out the window Oswald was in (they have that area all glassed off), but you can look out one right next to it. There's a metal star in the street below where Kennedy was shot. So you can see the trajectory. Okay.
It was late, the museum was closing, so I left. I was about to head back to the train when I thought, "Hey, I should go walk down by the street. There's a sidewalk right at the edge of the street, and I'm looking at that metal star. I turn around to see the grassy knoll. There's still a fence up there. There's still a gravel parking lot behind the fence.
So I go up behind the fence. Nothing spectacular here, nothing to see. Except the top of one of the wooden fenceposts is painted a slightly different color than the others. I go stand by it. And look down at the star.
The Zapruder film immediately plays in my head, all the documentaries I've seen, everything. I got chills. I believe that that place where I was standing, up behind that fence, is where the headshot came from. - mbrutsch, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32Oh, for God's sake, people. Kennedy was shot in the head while riding in a motorcade through the hometown of the VP, and you think LBJ didn't have anything to do with it? You've obviously never lived in Texas; it'd all be clear then...
- Ogedei, on 10/12/2007, -13/+37I'll concur here.
I think anytime the narrator is/was a meth addict and dealer for more than a decade their story is a highly suspect money grab.
Even IF they are now clean. A decade of that will A) ***** you up B) leave you financially destitute C) No marketable skills to get real work. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -11/+32No...Bush isn't evil
Just borderline retarded - OnAnyMouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22We're no crazier than anyone else who wears concealed handgun holsters, cowboy hats and boots in air conditioned offices with carpeted floors. We don't even ride horses to work anymore, most days.
- StrangeFamous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19This is a serious accusation. If it's ever proven to be true, it will be one of the most important revelations in our country's history. The idea that one of our former presidents actually ordered the assassination of the previous president has huge implications. It does seem far-fetched, but let's consider the possibilities.
Even though it happened 40 years ago, the effects of that day in Dallas have altered history from that point on. We don't necessarily consider the fact that the world would be completely different had JFK lived. Vietnam, Civil Rights... It goes way beyond the obvious in terms of the impact of JFK's death.
Or, things could have been even worse as a result of his survival. Who knows? The point is that his life was incredibly significant, historically speaking.
As far as my own beliefs go, I personally don't buy into the whole "magic bullet" crap. The situation was too complex to all be the master plan of one guy. Why do you think Jack Ruby shot Oswald in the first place? Because Oswald knew more than he was letting on, and so Ruby was ordered (by whomever) to shut his mouth permanently.
Additionally, there was actual PHYSICAL evidence of more than one shooter, which included bullet marks on the pavement coming from a different direction than the book depository. These marks were hidden from view by the police when they arrived at the scene. They parked their cars specifically to cover it up, and then focused solely on Oswald and the "one shooter" theory.
Everything has been documented, and I urge anyone who is interested to check it out.

It's one of those cases that seems like it will never be solved. This new discovery could be the one thing that keeps the investigation going. If it's true, that is. - RickiBerlin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Hunt lied his entire life. That said, LBJ may have ordered the hit. He didn't gain anything from it. He was so hated, he didn't run for re-election, and the Vietnam thing was hung on him. Payback's a bitch.
- Jimgress, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21The great irony about conspiracies is that by trying to reveal to us all of the government backstabbing and corruption they draw our attention away from all the government backstabbing and corruption that occurs RIGHT IN FRONT of our eyes.

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Select_Committee_on_Assassinations#Conclusions_regarding_the_JFK_assassination
======================================
1. Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots at President John F. Kennedy. The second and third shots he fired struck the President. The third shot he fired killed the President.
2. Scientific acoustical evidence establishes a high probability that two gunmen fired at President John F. Kennedy. Other scientific evidence does not preclude the possibility of two gunmen firing at the President. Scientific evidence negates some specific conspiracy allegations.
3. The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. The committee was unable to identify the other gunmen or the extent of the conspiracy.
* The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the Soviet Government was not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy.
* The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the Cuban Government was not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy.
* The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that anti-Castro Cuban groups, as groups, were not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy, but that the available evidence does not preclude the possibility that individual members may have been involved.
* The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the national syndicate of organized crime, as a group, was not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy, but that the available evidence does not preclude the possibility that individual members may have been involved.
* The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Central Intelligence Agency were not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy.
4. Agencies and departments of the U.S. Government performed with varying degrees of competency in the fulfilment of their duties. President John F. Kennedy did not receive adequate protection. A thorough and reliable investigation into the responsibility of Lee Harvey Oswald for the assassination was conducted. The investigation into the possibility of conspiracy in the assassination was inadequate. the conclusions of the investigations were arrived at in good faith, but presented in a fashion that was too definitive.
The Committee further concluded that it was probable that:
* four shots were fired
* the third shot came from a second assassin located on the grassy knoll, but missed.

They basically say "It's possibly conspiracy, we don't know who, but we're pretty sure these organizations didn't do it." Exactly where is a further investigation supposed to start? The "A" section of the phone book? - davesbrain, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18George H. W. Bush was actually questioned by the Dallas police after the assassination.
- Alimack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19@ Osjpr
You've pretty much proved his point there, I think. Like jackhole says, if someone tries to disagree with a conspiracy theory on factual grounds, such as an unreliable source for evidence, often they're accused of not having the courage to face up to the dark dark truth of the world, of living in bad faith, in a happy make-believe world where everything is as it seems and you can believe whatever the government tells you. Kind of detracts from the debate, when you attack one side personally instead of dealing with their arguments - it's the same as people who don't believe the conspiracy theory calling you a crazy crazy lunatic.
Also, did you have to bring rape and murder into it? We were doing so well, up 'til then. - cderry, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23@sikosmurf and mazzerrackham
I predict neither of you will have a deathbed and will be killed in police custody by Jack Ruby's ghost. - greymaxcat, on 10/12/2007, -14/+29Um... no....
Despite the face that I was not alive at the time, I ordered the assignation... I even carried it out... I fully admit it... and not being born yet is the ultimate alibi... Its the perfect crime. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Yeah I've lived in Dallas for years, and last year finally decided to be a tourist and go check the spots like the ones you mention. It's obvious to any reasonable person that the shots never came from the window. If the official record of events was definitive then everyone would stop analyzing the assassination and get on with their lives, but it's not, and you can see for yourself that it'd be the luckiest shot ever....not to mention 3 or 4 lucky shots within 5 seconds.
I don't know about you guys, but any time I've shot beer cans with high powered handguns and rifles, they've always moved in the direction the bullet was moving when it struck them. I.e. if you shoot a can from the south, and the bullet is traveling north, then the can will move north as it falls. The president was said to move 'back, and to the left' which you can clearly see from the Zapruder film. If you are shot from above and behind, you will move *forward* as the bullet strikes you, not back. Not only that but the front windshield frame had bullet damage at the edge where it meets the car's body. The damage suggested a bullet entering from in front of the vehicle..coming from the grassy knoll. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Go to sleep America, your Government will care for you....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Its not like this is some nobody, he was in the CIA for years and years and part of many operations including the ***** Bay of Pigs. His confessions may have some validity given his history.
Lets not forget "Deepthroat" confessed on his deathbed as well. - OnAnyMouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"or because you don't give a ***** about a assassination that happened many years before your birth, and in another bloody country"
"You dont deserve to call yourself an American."
Well, i guess if the JFK assassination happened in a nation that is not yours by birth, naturalization, loyalty, or residence, then you probably don't. - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18On my deathbed, I'll tell my friends and family that I was once a pirate and draw out a fake treasure map then die with a smile on my face because I know someone is stupid enough to try and dig it out.
- tenrec, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Hunt has been linked to the assassination for a long time. He was suspected of being the three tramps arrested hiding in a rail car near Dealey Plaza's grassy knoll after the hit. http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/3tramps.htm

something which is wrong with the story told by Hunt's son. He says that his father
bowed out of the plot. But then why would be be one of the tramps at the scene? - ncurses, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Yeah, I think a year or two ago the history channel, like "history's mysteries" or some ***** recreated the magic bullet, and it actually did go through all the things it was supposed to go through in one shot.
