- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -9/+142Thank you Dennis, for having a spine
- dylio, on 08/27/2008, -10/+137It's a shame that people like Dennis Kucinch and Ron Paul are often labeled as crazy and not valid. We need more politicians like them. They should be our leaders.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -12/+105Dennis is the man who should be President. He is most courageous man in congress and would be the wisest leader this country has had in decades. Thank you, once again, Dennis.
- birdly, on 08/27/2008, -11/+103More truth from one of our bravest representatives.
- johlorax, on 08/27/2008, -4/+74"We now pay four times more for defense, three times more for gasoline and home heating oil, and twice what we paid for health care."
Why is Dennis Kucinich the only one with the nuggets to call out the robber barons? Why the hell aren't either of the two men who will be our next president addressing these fundamental issues that hit home for 95% percent of the populous? Why are people like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich marginalized when they're the only ones with the nuggets to confront the true despotism that makes a mockery of democracy?! - tarmin21, on 08/27/2008, -9/+70In my opinion, the dream ticket would be Kucinich for the Democrats and Ron Paul for the Republicans.
- TheRhinoceros, on 08/27/2008, -8/+67Dennis gave the best speech of the convention so far. Denny's the Man.
Dugg. - Infidelcastr0, on 08/27/2008, -6/+58Thank goodness there are still a few honest, decent people like Kucinich left in the government. It was nice to see him get the recognition he deserves for once.
- dreamtiger, on 08/27/2008, -6/+54Wish we could have Kucinich for President.
- Bagos1, on 08/27/2008, -4/+52It was a good shout for America. It's too bad his own party doesn't back him up.....starting with Pelosi.
- Scheitbag, on 08/27/2008, -3/+49can you just imagine the debates? thoughtful analysis and and straight answers...
- muckemuck, on 08/27/2008, -3/+40A dream for the people, but a nightmare for the people who actually control the two parties.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+38Yes. I imagine this is what the forefathers were like.

Most Support U.S. Guarantee of Health Care

Ehrlichman : "We have now narrowed down the vice president's problems on this thing to one issue, and that is whether we should include these Health Maintenance Organizations like Edgar Kaiser's Permenente thing." President Nixon : "Let me ask you, you know I'm not too keen on any of these damn medical programs." Ehrlichman : " This is a private enterprise one." Nixon : "Well, that appeals to me." Ehrlichman : " Edgar Kaiser is running this permanente thing for profit. And the reason he can do it... I had Edgar Kaiser come in, and talk to me about this... And I went into some depth... All the incentives are toward less medical care, because the less care they give them, the more money they make." Nixon : "Fine." Ehrlichman : " And the incentives run the right way." Nixon : "Not bad."
U.S. Health Care System: Paying More, Getting Less
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/04/health-paying- ...
Profit before healthcare. That's some mor(t)ality.. - greendalek, on 08/27/2008, -1/+24I concur. Imagine not having to pick between "the lesser of two evils" for a change, but instead the "better of two goods."
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -17/+35Support democracy - http://kucinich.us/
- deadmilkman, on 08/27/2008, -1/+19To those complaining about Cleveland.
#1 He lived up to his campaign promise even though he knew it would cost him his re-election.
#2 His actions saved the city ~200million dollars.
#3 The banks/mafia attempted to strong arm his decision including calling for the immediate payment of all the city's debts (unprecidented as these had been rolled for years, and even a hitman assigned to take him out)
You may not have liked the short term results. But on the long term Dennis CLEARLY was a benefit to Cleveland. - sodade, on 08/27/2008, -1/+19The system is all about marginalizing the truth tellers.
- Logicexe, on 08/27/2008, -0/+17Funny how Americans pay more for healthcare than most other developed countries with universal healthcare. Funny how Americans still pay less for gasoline than most other developed countries.
The only reason you guys think gasoline is expensive is because you sat on your fat asses letting your public transportation systems crumble while driving SUVs while the rest of the rest of the world was moving on with fuel efficient cars and comprehensive public transportation.
The only reason medicare is so expensive is because you've created profit incentive for both hospitals and insurance companies effectively making it necessary that both of them profit from your sickness. Also, you've screwed everything up even farther by trying to create some sort of unwieldy hybrid system that only adds to the cost and complexity. A properly run universal healthcare system could cost your average American less than what they pay now, while providing better service. Other countries can do it, why can't you? - Dundasbro, on 08/27/2008, -0/+17It'll be bizarro world!
- the6thReplicant, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15I think a lot of people have been following Kucinich for a while. A know showing a positive response to politicians is so 80s but once in a while they come along. In fact, not supporting 'em is what makes American politics so bad.
- sultanica, on 08/27/2008, -0/+14Not only is he one of the few politicos with a sack, but one of the few that actually cares about the ignorant nation
- zappa717, on 08/27/2008, -4/+18I love Dennis.
- DanthaDon, on 08/27/2008, -7/+20DUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
- MalarkeyPN, on 08/27/2008, -0/+12All I gotta say is holy *****, that was awesome.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -17/+28Even if the Presidential race was only between those two decent men Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul those E-Voting machines would probably give a sock puppet Obama or sock puppet McCain result! LOL
- Fallout911, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11Mike Gravel/Dennis Kucinich for president!
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -10/+21Never forget who supported this pure wave of evil, don't let them distance themselves from him. Whining about Libs and Dems and Clinton and Obama's Pastor and kids, and gay sex, while offering nothing of substance - and most notably - no defense for the lying little sack of ***** from Texas they shackled us with!
America's enemy is the idiot who IGNORED that Bush lied to us about Iraq, IGNORED that Bush defends treason, IGNORED that Bush was asleep at the wheel on 9/11, IGNORED that Bush had already blundered our war effort in Iraq, IGNORED that Bush still tries to link Iraq and 911, IGNORED that Bush was going to run amok with our Constitution, IGNORED his continued policy that fuels extremist groups and floods intelligence agencies with "false positives" from illegal wiretapping operations—among other things and still voted to re-elect this miserable failure.
The enemy from within has perpetuated this death and devastation. Don't forget it.
It is because of a bush voter that the country is in the atrocious position it is in today. - WebWizard, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10Dennis needs a prominent role in this administration!
- cambob76, on 08/27/2008, -1/+11Love the guy, but can we stop it with the "wake up!" thing? It's getting pretty old, esp. if you read Digg comments. How about "Pay attention you lazy, disinterested bastards!" or "Your cozy way of life is at an end, watch out!"... something to that effect?
- theutopian, on 08/27/2008, -2/+12For the last ***** time, Europeans do not pay 'half their income' for healthcare. Stop spreading incorrect facts.
- thespiff, on 08/27/2008, -0/+10Some of us have been following Kucinich since the 2004 election. Maybe you should pay more attention.
- ISIfunded911, on 08/27/2008, -2/+11*****! Healthcare/GDP is twice higher in the US than in France/UK/Germany.
Just watch Michael Moore's Sicko, his best documentary. - deadmilkman, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9He saved the city of Cleveland nearly 200million dollars by not giving into the banks even when they unprecedentedly called for the city's debts to be paid in full. (*previously until Dennis these debts had been rolled over.)
Clearly Cleveland wants more pushover politicians that cave for short term electability. - nkleffman, on 08/27/2008, -2/+10If you are voting Republican or Democrat, then YOU are part of the problem
- ISIfunded911, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8Exactly!
But also: Wall Street would hate a president like Kucinich: he would be the president of the workers, not the puppet of the corporations. Workers would earn more and have better healthcare, while corporations would make less money.
And the World would be more peaceful, which the military-industrial complex would just hate.
Now just look at who owns the mass-media, and you will see why they pretend he cannot win, and then people believe that because they refuse to see how deeply TV influences them. - bcamp1973, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8STUD.
- ciaran036, on 08/27/2008, -5/+12I wish he'd stop using euphemisms. The Iraq war was not "unnecessary". It should have been absolutely out of question for anyone that is not absolute ***** stupid, evil or greedy.
- Glassmentality, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7America needs to stop taking the media approved sleeping pills.
- maley, on 08/27/2008, -3/+10It doesn't matter what people will say. It won't change the general American view of: I'm happy in my little bubble. I don't think the American government is wrong, or can ever be wrong. And I believe that the American government will always be here protecting me.
I'm an American and I wish the rest of my Americans would wake up. I'm really worried about the future of this country, but the problem is, nobody gives a *****. - Samurai77, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Kucinich has been on my radar for years, so you need to be paying attention, because if you think this is the first thing he's done, you haven't been.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9What's the point of throwing facts at a brick wall like poprocks?
These rightards already know the truth, they are just so unethical and dishonest and honorless that they continue to lie about it. - RetlawST, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9Lukas, just where in Europe are you referring to? It seems a little disingenuous to claim healthcare is more in Europe when that's contrary to everything I've heard for the last 10 years. For example:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/18/business/18leonh ...
http://www.bio-medicine.org/medicine-news-1/Obesit ...
http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/46/2/38980580.pdf
If Europe spent half of their income on health care, the GDP expenditures would read more like 50% versus 5.7-11%. The US on the other hand spends upwards of 15% on health care. In dollars, it's about 2K more than the next highest amount paid per capita for health care. Stop telling lies and ***** on the internet and start actually practicing what you preach by halting your "embellished facts." - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7The reason why Dennis and Ron are not heard, IMO, is because they are not rich enough to contribute more funds to the party than the mainstream candidates.
Besides which, they don't have enough money to grab more attention from the media than Obama or McCain.
Money talks, and the US citizens listen and vote for the biggest names.
Ron and Dennis wouldn't have gotten a look in. - mk1gti, on 08/27/2008, -2/+9In answer to the critcism of 'He had to turn socialist'. . .
What you really mean is: 'He had to turn Canadian, British, Swedish, Norwegian, German, French, Danish, Spanish etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum. In other words, he's advocating for systems that work in first world democracies and have worked for many decades. The US system is undeniably the worst in any first world country and needs to be replaced. Not modified, *replaced*. It is a national and international embarasment and is not defensible.
Wake up Sheeple! Baaaaaaahhhhhh ! ! ! - Fallout911, on 08/27/2008, -5/+12The man is a ***** genius!
God damn we need Kucinich in the white house! - laserdog, on 08/27/2008, -1/+8"entitlement payments" - because republicans come out so hard against those...
"unnecessary programs and healthcare" - universal healthcare would be the biggest boon to corporations, who would no longer have to pay for those programs for their employees. It would have an immediate economic impact far greater than any of these $500 checks pissed into the wind... - kemp34, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7Please explain what exactly took place in Cleveland.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+8I wish Dennis Kucinich was the V.P. candidate instead of Joe Biden, but I'll vote for Obama any way.
- pattyattywatty, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6why i like dennis (of course this was not covered by the corporate media airwaves)
1) he's a menace to those cavalier politicians
2) he's working within a confused party to hold them accountable
3) he's got a wife with a tongue bar
4) he tells the truth and is a brilliant politician within the ranks
5) he understands how critical this election is and despite his positions is not breaking from the party to splinter this election
6) he's telling us to WAKE UP!!! see the light for what it is and vote
7) his enthusiasm for doing the right thing for this country is first over his financial wealth
8) he doesn't own a limo and doesn't think (like pelosi) that he is the gift to america
9) he took risks with his own constituency with city utilities, paid a price for it , but in the long run was right
10) he understands the value of dissent but has brilliant tactics.
