- GetShorty, on 01/11/2008, -8/+409If I go to the bank and deposit $10,000 in cash, you can bet they'll count it twice. Why is it that our votes in elections aren't always counted twice, or even three times, just to make sure they were counted right?
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 01/11/2008, -18/+390Good for him! If Obama asked for this, he'd look like a sore looser. I was hoping another canidate who has no chance of winning would do this.
- 1WhiteTiger, on 01/11/2008, -15/+357I think we need to start a Chip In to help Dennis pay for the RECOUNT!
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 01/11/2008, -2/+168There is NO harm to a recount. If it was just a demographic difference, then there wasnt any fraud and we can all move on with out lives. however, if there WAS a problem, them the flood gates can open.
- AtHomeBoy2000, on 01/11/2008, -4/+158Paper trail, these electronic machines need to have a printed paper trail.
- annaponda, on 01/11/2008, -5/+131I think it's also vital to have a vote count straight after the votes are cast as this stops the likely hood of evidence being hidden...so a recount should be prepared and funded to take place right after...and it should be made known to all it's going to happen, this might also make these criminals aware that we are on their case...
- Frixionburne, on 01/11/2008, -10/+135I really don't see the issue here. Kucinich OBVIOUSLY lost that state by quite a bit so his effort for recounting is not going to improve his standings, or, for that matter, change the outcome. Is it impossible that Kucinich is a man who cares about the rights of the people he is trying to lead? Maybe we should stop being so pessimistic about honest intentions.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -5/+103I'm not a Kucinich fan (although I am a fan of his wife!), but I'm glad someone stepped up and asked for a recount. It's important to get the disparity's explained before the other primaries.
- FcukAllYall, on 01/11/2008, -2/+92It has nothing to do with him losing U fcukin clown...it has to do with someone finally stepping up and saying these Diebold machines are *****. There is NO WAY the exit polls were that off, so something stinks and we need to restore confidence in the voter!
- legendxx, on 01/11/2008, -3/+89what do these comments have to do with him asking for a recount?
- MBX1, on 01/11/2008, -3/+86*****! Dennis rocks!
- RansomHoldiay, on 01/11/2008, -8/+89haha someone is jealous and/or has an ugly wife
- ashwinmudigonda, on 01/11/2008, -10/+88It's so brilliantly amazing, isn't it? We are containing fusion; sent a dude to moon, designed a rover to land on Mars and function for some 60 odd days but it goes for years, can find oil spots miles underneath earth and send a drill bit to an accuracy of less than a meter, clone pigs, find out everything about the AIDS virus' genetic structure, understand sleeping patterns of different human tribes around the world, put Peltier cooling effect on a MEMS scale microchip, design a music player that revolutionizes a company and makes it introduce a Phone that everyone must have, design satellites that can guide missiles and cars to their destinations, make a watch that can tell you how high you are above sea level, AND YET AND YET AND YET cannot make a ***** machine that can count votes?!?! 2008. America. Two words both which are synonymous with words like "future" "technology" "civilization" "advanced" "iPhone" AND YET AND YET we can't cout votes. Simple addition. I vote. Count(i) = 1. You vote, Count (i)++. He votes for B. vote(j)++. ***** SIMPLE. You have retinal scans, fingerprint scans on a chip, heck gene scanners on a chip, next gen MRI, fMRI, CAT, DOG, PIG scans AND YET AND YET you cannot verify if a voter actually voted. SHAME on technology. Outsource the job to Apple and get done with it. Who knows, maybe they will make everyone want to vote.
- RansomHoldiay, on 01/11/2008, -2/+68In Florida, by law, there has to be a physical copy of every vote cast. We do it all on voting machines though, and just sort of ignore the law.
Haha remember 2000? - krnldmp, on 01/11/2008, -5/+66There's no reason to have machines at all except to introduce fraud. Get them out of the country.
- MonsterChaOS, on 01/11/2008, -2/+60Not recounting when there are multiple allegations of fraud and a difference in percentages between the hand counted votes and the machine votes just seems irresponsible.
If there was fraud, NOW is the time to catch it, NOT in the general election. - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -3/+60I say people should simply refuse to use voting machines period. Hell, go for the Luddite approach and smash the machines to bits.
- inactive, on 01/11/2008, -7/+58the word is 'loser'....looser would be less tight.
/like your mom - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -12/+61Can someone start a site for donations to it? Like November 5th?! Because there should have been 0 difference in the margins between the machine counted votes and hand counted votes.
- j0hneb0y81, on 01/11/2008, -2/+51i take it someone else does these re-counts?
like, they won't have the same people that did it the first time right? - inactive, on 01/11/2008, -4/+52You apparently don't understand the idea that our electoral process is suspect and fraud can be committed. This would be a non-issue if everything was transparent to the voting public.
- shadash, on 01/11/2008, -15/+63I'd help, the guy has the balls to endorse another parties candidate.
- pintomp3, on 01/11/2008, -4/+51calling for impeachment and now calling for recounts. this man is a hero and has the balls to fight for justice and democracy.
- imgstacke, on 01/11/2008, -4/+51in NH a candidate who recieves less then 3% of the vote can get a recount for only $2,000, if over 3% they must pay the entire cost $67,000. So I think Kucinich can cover it easily.
- Entroper, on 01/11/2008, -2/+48Way to go Kucinich. The man has nothing to gain or lose from a recount, which is why he's the perfect guy to make this request.
Honestly, it should be Hillary requesting a recount. Think what a moral boost the first-place candidate would get by requesting a recount to clear the air about any suspicions regarding her victory. - oceanrain, on 01/11/2008, -0/+43After reading through these comments, I am amazed that there are those who do not give a ***** that there may have been vote tampering. It is not about Kucinich, it's about possible vote fraud. I guess these people will finally get it when they have a jackboot crushing their skull.
- mescalitospoke, on 01/11/2008, -8/+51Iconoclast, you are a tool.
- rtgordon, on 01/11/2008, -1/+43Please recount. I'd like to see the real results.
- h4mx0r, on 01/11/2008, -5/+43More proof that Kucinich is made of pure win.
- kylesykes, on 01/11/2008, -1/+39Why are we still using Diebold machines? Haven't these been shown to be easily hacked previously and/or caused discrepancies in counts? If so...why the ***** are we still using their machines?
- Gforze, on 01/11/2008, -9/+47Dugg down for stupidity
- d1v1d3byz3r0, on 01/11/2008, -3/+40The NH voting machines *do* have a paper trail. They just haven't looked at it yet.
- betterth, on 01/11/2008, -0/+35That's not true Epetrone. Higher income and more urban areas tend to be able to afford voting machines while more rural, smaller towns and lower income areas stick to ballots currently. If the distribution of machines and paper ballots was SCIENTIFICALLY RANDOM, than what you say is true.
But there are very real social and economic differences in the districts that more than account for the differences between machine and paper.
However, thats not the only disparity coming from NH and I do believe that there is doubt in the election process right now. Kudos to Kucinich for stepping up to quell fears that things didn't go correctly. Hopefully a republican will do the same and we'll know for sure what happened. - eeclark, on 01/11/2008, -4/+38It does not surprise me in the least that the votes were miscounted in NH. Ever since 2000, I have felt that something is not right with the current election process, although I am at a loss when it comes to an alternative.
I think Ron Paul should have done the same thing considering what happened in Sutton (where people voted for RP and the website that showed 100% of of the precincts reported in for Sutton and there were 0 votes for RP.) - seraphisset, on 01/11/2008, -1/+34Even if the count is from the optical scanners is 100% accurate, at least we'll know for certain.
- bjs3171, on 01/11/2008, -2/+32when i vote in the NY primaries, get up to the machine and see that it's electronic, i'm going to ask for a ballot booth.
- pintomp3, on 01/11/2008, -0/+29he didn't endorse him. he told his supports to give their vote to obama in places that kucinich couldn't get the minimum 15% in a caucus in iowa. it was a very specific move, not a "vote for obama instead of me".
- ErrorS, on 01/11/2008, -0/+29Still $2000 out of his own pocket, it wouldn't hurt for his supporters to give him some of that back. This is a nice thing he's doing, he said outright he knows the end result for himself wouldn't change, he just wants to make sure the claims of fraud on the internet aren't true.
- Shiftgood, on 01/11/2008, -5/+33I've always wondered what would happen if all the "libtards" left the country and let the neo-cons run themselves.
aka. How long would it take to turn into a Mad Max moive.... im guessing.... thursday? - Firehed, on 01/11/2008, -1/+29Because our candidates aren't paying to win.
...oh, wait. - Harbinger67, on 01/11/2008, -1/+28yeah, that was great! You guys sure know how to have a good time
- h3lx, on 01/11/2008, -0/+26I was thinking of running a short list of significant human accomplishments, you just saved me a bunch of time.
- vmass20, on 01/11/2008, -3/+29Only 2 times has exit polling ( Probability & Statistics) Seemed to be wrong. Which does give the % of POSSIBLE error. Outlayers are very rare and explainable. Not these instances.
The 2004 eliections and this hillary upset over obama. I'm pretty convinced that the vote was tampered with. Who has support of the Super-Delegates? then you know you has access to the 1 min hackable diebold machine. - pintomp3, on 01/11/2008, -0/+26it's sad that while we cry about how corrupt and dishonest politicians are, we vote for those very ones. there are a few out there who actually work for the people and don't spend their time amassing fortunes for themselves and their buddies. instead of backing them, we ridicule them and sideline them. we deserve the filth we have in office.
- temjrpgh, on 01/11/2008, -0/+24Here here! Dennis Kucinich is a true patriot and a champion for the American people.
- heresy_fnord, on 01/11/2008, -5/+28Foam at the Mouth much?
- askjeffro, on 01/11/2008, -1/+24I have not donated to a recount, however have taken some action. I just contacted the Secretary of State of NH expressing my support of the recount via email:
Elections@sos.state.nh.us
http://www.sos.nh.gov/
I think there are several layers of issues within this recount idea, but for my bottom line to NH was that:
I feel it is imperative that we as a nation establish the validity of these voting machines or fear continue disenfranchising of American citizens in all states. - Jareth86, on 01/11/2008, -1/+21Why the hell is this not making front page news?!
Is Britney Spears' sister really more important than the preservation of democracy?! - crichton101, on 01/11/2008, -1/+20You are the type of person who wouldn't have believed that Nixon had some people break into the DNC headquarters in the Watergate Hotel. You wouldn't have believed that members of a govt. had anything to do with the Iran Contra. Hell you probably wouldn't even have believe that J. Edgar Hoover was about as crooked as a FBI chief could be. Sure somethings are just conspiracy pipe dreams, but to pretend that conspiracies never happen makes you a fool. It has been proven that the diebold machines can be hacked quite easily, so any place that uses those machines, especially when it comes to our government and how it operates, measures must be taken to make sure all things, such as elections, are not comprimised by less then savory people, such as criminals. But then again, you probably don't even believe that Al Capone had members of the police on his payroll. All you need to do is to read a history book to find cases where governments left unchecked became corrupt and decadent, and began to treat its people as nothing more then slaves.
