- inactive, on 12/27/2007, -12/+78Ron Blachut sounds like a total idiot. The woman is pregnant, not ill. Nothing about being pregnant keeps a woman from living her life. Why is the right wing so ***** stupid?
- Ydnar24, on 12/27/2007, -2/+59My wife is a teacher and she was able to work until the week before she had our daughter. This shouldn't be an issue.
- MadKennyP, on 12/27/2007, -14/+58Only a lunatic Conservative would argue that women shouldn't get pregnant or should resign from their jobs if they do. Sanctity of life my a$$. Welcome to the 19th century.
- ILikePants, on 12/27/2007, -2/+39According to this guy's logic, any senator or congressperson who dares to become ill should be removed from office. Because, you know, they're using that constituent-subsidized health insurance, will spend a small amount of time not serving their constituents, and are thus unfit to serve.
- Hortnon, on 12/27/2007, -5/+38"And now, I have to add serving in the U.S. House and Senate as an occupation that may not be suitable for women."
So, you agree with that statement? How about this one:
"There are many occupations suitable for women and their physical attributes. Carrying a weapon while serving in the Armed Forces and firefighting are not suitable lines of work for women to prove that they are physically equal to men. " - FyreGoddess, on 12/27/2007, -1/+34You can't even tell her that her pregnancy is affecting your representation until it actually DOES. Unless she winds up having a Cesarean section, then she probably won't be in the hospital for more than 3 days. She won't be knocked out, even if she DOES have a c-section.
Most women remain active until the day that they give birth and generally, barring unforeseen complications, become just as active immediately afterward.
Also, this not-so-subtle undertone of women being the only ones who can raise a newborn is ridiculous. She has a husband and this is not her first child. If she wanted to be a stay-at-home-mother, then she would already be doing that. Having a baby isn't going to make her less qualified to hold the office that she was elected to.
Do you think that female politicians should be asked whether or not they intend to have children while they campaign? Personally, I don't think it should matter and I know that in an actual job interview, questions like that are illegal because having a baby doesn't automatically mean that a woman is unable to do her job.
Tell me this, though, ARE you her constituent? And, if so, did you vote for her?
Because if you're not, then I don't see how it matters to you. - inactive, on 12/27/2007, -4/+37"If she's going to spend an exorbitant amount of time dealing with the pregnancy and resulting child"
You and the other right wing nut cases don't get to decide how much time spent having a life is "exorbitant." You can vote against her, but you can't tell her when she can get pregnant. Mind your own ***** business. - AriaStar, on 12/27/2007, -4/+34How would ts be different from a man in Congress smoking and getting cancer and taking time off? Oh yeah, this is an adult and her husband having a baby. That Ron guy is clearly an idiot who thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant since shouldn't be in the military. Wait, that's not "suitable." But having a baby is bad too. WFT?
- mikelieman, on 12/27/2007, -2/+321) Are you a resident of New York's Twentieth Congressional District? Are you her constituent.
2) Her Constituents ELECTED HER with full knowledge that she was of normal childbearing age. End of story. Of course, John Sweeny's campaign imploding with the Wife Beating charges helped.. - whatthefu, on 12/27/2007, -5/+32What I don't like about some "fiscal conservatives" is that some of them like to complain about things like "The taxpayers who were duped into voting for her will have to pay for her medical benefits." I mean it's almost as if there isn't a war on which we're spending hundreds of billions of dollars.
- MadKennyP, on 12/27/2007, -2/+26Moin seems to despise the American family.
- thesonofdarwin, on 12/27/2007, -0/+24Please don't use the word logic when referring to moin1097.
- mikelieman, on 12/27/2007, -0/+24You're the only one who seems to believe that women CANNOT balance family and career.
Maybe she should put on a burkha for you? - sepllcehck, on 12/27/2007, -1/+22I'd like to thank moin for demonstrating the absurdity of the argument. Some Diggers may not have been able to decipher just how backwards that kind of thinking is without his shining example of the absurd. Without a real living breathing person attempting to justify such a bent perspective - many may just sigh and think it some poor attention whore - but with Moin's help - we can see that there really are people like that and that they really do hold tightly to the antiquated ideologies of years gone by while attempting to justifying their backwards beliefs by attacking political correctness.
Very few instances can we be thankful for an idiot troll.. but in this case - I'm glad he's here.. otherwise - who would we use as a living breathing example of what not to be? - inactive, on 12/27/2007, -0/+20Good god you are dumb. A pregnancy is not equivalent to a goddamn brain tumor.
- MadKennyP, on 12/27/2007, -2/+21Hahaha. You simply have no argument, do you?
- FyreGoddess, on 12/27/2007, -1/+20So, then, she's NOT your representative... and it won't affect your representation in Congress in any way, shape or form.
Honestly, I'd think you'd be happy about it. It's one less of those pesky Democrats to get in the way of the Republicans looking our for your Good Ol' Boy best interests.
No?
"If there was an "R" after her name you would insist she go home on the night of conception."
If there was an R after her name it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference to my personal opinion of the situation. Not everything is divided down partisan lines, friend. This really comes down to a handful of idiots who CLEARLY think that a woman's place is in the kitchen, barefoot, pregnant and popping out babies.
Welcome to the 21st century. It doesn't work that way anymore. - unicronband, on 12/27/2007, -0/+19Ignore this troll. He's just angry that women find him repulsive and will never experience the joys of conceiving, delivering and raising a child.
- rpi22, on 12/27/2007, -3/+22I am one of her constituents and I couldn't care less if she's pregnant.
She will be a crappy public servant regardless. She's better than Sweeney, but that doesn't say much... - RuffRidr, on 12/27/2007, -23/+41Big deal. So she won't be there and therefore won't get anything done. How is this any different than the rest of her party?
- stevenhatfield, on 12/27/2007, -8/+25Because the right wing is CONSERVATIVE. They don't believe that America should be moving forward, progressing past the 1950s... they want women "where they belong", in the kitchen, not out working! This is why it is called "CONSERVATIVE".
If you want America to move forward, do NOT vote for a CONSERVATIVE! - janeuner, on 12/27/2007, -5/+21+1 for the Idiocracy reference.
- MortalynFlux, on 12/27/2007, -4/+20The first paragraph shows this guy's ignorance:
"How many male police officers feel comfortable with a 100 pound female backup?"
From the few law classes that I have taken, I have learned that a police officer's weight (or sex) is not the most important thing. What is important is someone who can asses a situation, smell danger, know the rules of engagement, understand reasonable suspicion, understand probable cause, know the laws in regard to search and seizure, know procedure, and act fast. This is what makes a good police officer.
A 260 pound officer that is careless in situations and ignorant about the law is a great danger to his partner. If he does not know the rules of search and seizure and understand Miranda, he is useless to the prosecutors and to society. Male or female.
And how many female officers weight 100 pounds, anyway? - mikelieman, on 12/27/2007, -0/+16What does she have a husband for, if not to care for the child?
- purpmint008, on 12/27/2007, -6/+21Oh Snap!
- Matt2k, on 12/27/2007, -3/+18Yeah. Taxpayers shouldn't pay for maternity leave. In fact, as a business owner, I shouldn't pay for maternity leave either. Or medical leave. If you get sick or pregnant -- find a new ***** job. Not my problem. Oh wait.. I just realized that idea SUCKS.
Elected representatives should be held to the same standards as everyone else, right? And that includes family related matters. As long as it isn't excessive, like leaving for months every year, then put up with it. Not everything in life is 100% perfect. - TylerL82, on 12/27/2007, -0/+14With that logic, any Congressman over the age of 55 should be barred from running again. Their feeble old bodies need more rest and medical care.
- TheKrillr, on 12/27/2007, -3/+17Quick, lets add a new amendment to the constitution requiring all civil servants be spayed or neutered.
- FyreGoddess, on 12/27/2007, -2/+16Only when they're Democrats.
- sbader, on 12/27/2007, -2/+15where's your proof?
- blindhammer, on 12/27/2007, -3/+1619th Century? We're talking more like the 12th century.
- ILikePants, on 12/27/2007, -0/+12There's also this thing called "child care" and "support from her husband".
- yakski, on 12/27/2007, -2/+14You are an idiot!!!! Nothing else to see here folks,... move along now... move along...
- bootle, on 12/27/2007, -6/+18Do you know that it's illegal to fire a woman for getting pregnant? It is, and it should be. Your statement smacks of blatant sexism and discrimination. And your attitude is painfully, willfully ignorant and hurtful to all woman and, by extension, all decent people.
- Akaji, on 12/27/2007, -9/+20He's a misogynist, but that doesn't make him a conservative.
- EarlOfLade, on 12/27/2007, -5/+16You got to be the dumbest virgin around.
When my wife got pregnant and our daughter was born, my wife stayed home with our baby for one full year with 100% pay and the company she worked for was by law required to make sure she could go back into her position after the time was up. THAT is how it should be even here in third world USA. - akatherder, on 12/27/2007, -2/+13Finally! I'm sick of all these Democrats busting my chops over Larry Craig hunting for buttsex and McCain's Florida rep soliciting blow jobs. Now I can rub it in their face that one of their own got knocked up. By her husband no less!
- yakski, on 12/27/2007, -1/+12What a moron... anyone who read your ignorant diatribe has wasted valuable time that would have been better spent getting snot out of their nose.. Can you say ignorant conservative male chauvinist pig... better yet just look in the mirror.
- a1532b, on 12/27/2007, -2/+12Boy, I wonder how all the other professional women manage to do any work at all, what with the cleaning and cooking they have to do all the time.
Douchebag. - pencilneck, on 12/27/2007, -2/+11"Judging by the language used the reader is a conservative." I really can't tell if Ron is a conservative or liberal... comes off more as a jerk than anything. On one had I understand his issue, but *****, I though everyone knows elected officials never work every day. Based on Ron's train of though EVERY elected official would owe money back... liberal, conservative, wig party, green, ect ect ect.
- minox, on 12/27/2007, -2/+11I heard Ron Paul is going to deliver the baby then run to a local high school to throw a game-winning touchdown pass.
- merlyn73, on 12/27/2007, -5/+14I've lived in that area of Upstate New York, and it can get just as scary as backwoods freaking Kentucky up in the Adirondacks. Rural development hasn't been allowed in like 60 years, and most of the towns are unholy snapshots of 1953 society. Google Potsdam, Canton, and Saranac Lake...you'll see what I mean. And lots and lots of inbreeding... It's weird how the farther away from civilized society these thralls live, the more conservative they are. I guess it's easier to be a butthole when you think the world is not only smaller, but about to be "poofed" away by the damn rapture.
- sbader, on 12/27/2007, -0/+8Strawman
- pinchduck, on 12/27/2007, -2/+10One moron writes a stupid letter to a crappy newspaper? Why is this on the front page?
- SteveCUBE, on 12/27/2007, -1/+9I live in Glens Falls, believe me there are a lot of idiots. And the Post Star is a horrible newspaper.
- yakski, on 12/27/2007, -0/+8You seem to refute your earlier statements in that last line... it is not the sex of the person that matters.. just their abilities.. THAT is the only important thing that matters, not their sex.
- shmatt, on 12/27/2007, -0/+8OMG, your typical pompous-ass Marine!
1. English comes from a country called ENGLAND.
2. USD was preferred because it fluctuated less, not because this country is awesome. Now it's in a sorry state.
3. and your point is exactly? You want more people to hate us?
4. Idiot. Myanmar didn't cry *****, the OPPRESSED people being opressed cried out. And then they were shot. And that son of a bitch in the white house didnt do and damn thing.
5. Yeah, um, if I wanted a military career I would've had one. I served in the reserve because I felt I should serve. How dare you belittle that.
6. Really? How so? Why? Back it up my man.
7. Actually I'm sorry I did too, because it was full of guys just. like. you.
8. And thank you for your as well sir.
9. NO. YOU. HAVE. NOT. Your right to speak for yourself is inherent, you have NO right to speak on behalf 600 million diverse people.
10. I don't care if you're confident. Do I seem unconfident? I like to rip gung-ho brainwash victims such as yourself a new one every chance I get. Having served myself (whether it's worthy to you or not), and having 3 generations of my family serve this fine country, I not only have 'earned the right' by your logic, it is my duty to call you on your closed-minded thinking. - takamalak, on 12/27/2007, -4/+12Err, that's the definition of conservative. They want things to like they were in the good ole days. When bitches knew their place.
- Chaoticfist, on 12/27/2007, -1/+8God forbid she has a kid...like wtf is she even aloud to have kids without permission? While we are at it i am curious, why is she in office....thats a mans job. She should be at home cooking and cleaning!!!
/sarcasm - yakski, on 12/27/2007, -2/+9Some day the may catch up to your spamming...
