- flipside3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38So how hard is it to link directly to the story?
http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/14897388.htm - headphonist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24What a waste of Governor.
- onetre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Trust me...that's not the worst thing he's got going on here.
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Hopefully you spelled article correctly when you sent him the message...
- GTPilot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The article says "The entire distance is a few hundred feet." .. not yards. The description is wrong.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9is he a fat ass?
- mikeyeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What a lazy bastard.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"In Kentucky, the lawns of the Capitol and the mansion are separated only by a narrow tree-shaded street, but Fletcher routinely rides to and from his office. In the meantime, his administration is encouraging Kentuckians to walk more as part of a statewide fitness initiative to combat obesity, diabetes and heart disease. The administration has begun running radio announcements calling on residents to walk or bike more."
He is a government employee. Public servant. and not just for him, but in general. "Preach what you do". For security, state police can accompany him when he walks, just like when he rides in the car. - shagmasterzero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8He just censored all of the blog sites that do not support his political opinions from state workers computers. This is much bigger news. Check this out: http://www.bluegrassreport.org
- gstuartj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Yeah, we're all really worried about his habit of crossing the street in a towncar here in Kentucky. We don't really care that much about the budget and hiring scandels, or the fact that everytime the governor is called before a court he pardons himself.
- crom99, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8A few hundred yards? That's a wide street.
- 0x00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wasn't that longer than a few months ago?
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7He is a lazy, ass fatman... kinda the description of every politician... and is an example of why our country is addicted to oil...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5or twinkies.
- ACalcutt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6What a good way to waste tax dollars
- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Quick, somebody find a story where he is ranting about the high price of gas! :-D
- mbeck145, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Governor has never pardoned himself or been before a court.
- Dillio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I currently live in Kentucky and I have to say that our Governor is a complete joke. He flew over the capitol building a few months ago and caused Frankfort to go into a panic thinking that a terrorist was attacking. Thank God we only have two more years with this moron.
- applemaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3so does WA states Governor Gregoire, even though the Govenor's Mansion is across the street. Our last Govenor Locke walked but that is to much strain on Mr's Gregoire.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not a fat ass, just a complete and total lazy bastard who's done nothing but terrible deeds for my state.
I'll be glad to get his ass out of office. Hopefully we can elect someone more sensible, but with the conservative movement here.. ugh, might just be time to move to Ohio. - databyss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Twinkies deep fried in oil?
- mbeck145, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That was Washington not Frankfort... idiot.
- schumi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah our current Governor has many, many problems most, if not all, worse then this. Not only is he currently embroiled in a huge hiring scandal, he has also been largely criticized in the past days for blocking access to political blogs that criticize him, though the official stance is all politically aimed blogs are blocked most Right leaning ones tend to still work according to some staffers. But all of his problems are a result of a lack of foresight on his and his administration's part. Consistently throughout his tenor he has shown that he is incapable of grasping the consequences of his actions. I also find it ironic that before his time as Governor Fletcher served in the House of Representatives and was a student of the Delay school of politics who also has been indicted. Sadly he is also the second Ky Governor in session to have been indicted.
- ChuckIT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5http://governor.ky.gov/contact.htm Email the Gov. I just sent him the artical. what a douche bag... in my opinion....
- Celeron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What a waste of gas.
- Xplorer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The man is an asshat, and everyone from this state already knows this....
Lets not even mention what he did to healthcare for teachers....
ASSHAT! - lukeman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If Digg v3 means that any right leaning comment is modded down and comments like "What a waste of Governor" rise above the pack then I think I want Digg v2 back. Herd mentality FTW, I guess.
- DCMacHead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2an annual 10% tax on the ORIGINAL MSRP of a gas guzzler would be a good reminder for those who can't get it through their thick, selfish skulls that there's only so much gas and their excessive use of it is driving prices up for people who are more frugal with their use of gas.
- smergs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ha. That's funny. I know when he was voted into office I still lived in KY and I voted agianst him. Oh well, I live in TN now so I don't really care anymore.
- JDOG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This man needs an underground tram system with pods and armed security goons in jumpsuits a la The Incredibles. Maybe he can suit up for the epic journey as well.
- chetanw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now don't give him ideas - next thing you know your tax dollars will go towards purchase of a new bulletproof limo for the Governor's office
- iamexcite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...or Twinkies with oil in the middle?
Mmmm.... - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Sounds like someone is going to be losing his Towncar.
Stupid fat ***** should jailed. - SpyDerMann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just one question I'd like to ask. Is the limo bulletproof?
- databyss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2no need for them to be mutually exclusive.
lazy, fat and ignorant politicians can love oil AND twinkies, reguardless of which party they're from. - OmniMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no, Ohio's not much better with Taft.
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It has nothing to do with Digg 3.0. It's been this way since Digg 1.0. There are fare too many immature people on here with a decided inability to think logically.
Go ahead and mod me down Mr. teenager, it doesn't change the fact that you and roughly another 4 million Digg users just like you are morons. - Bobby8988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man do I Agree I really Hate that Guy!!
- pabster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Only reason this one made it to the top: The (R) behind the Governor's name.
Congress routinely rides in gas guzzling SUVs to go a block or less to vote or what have you. This isn't exactly earth-shattering news. - joeljkp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't know if it's bulletproof, but the Governor did say he rides to work because that's the way the security people like it. I don't think it's a limo, either, just a Towncar.
- mojotooth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Two words could make this whole situation disappear for Gov. Fletcher, if he would just take them to heart:
GOLF
CART - kickmenow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"He flew over the capitol building a few months ago and caused Frankfort to go into a panic thinking that a terrorist was attacking"
The idiots are the people whose first thought upon seeing an airplane is that a terrorist is attacking. Granted, our country is filled with these cowering, trembling, anxiety-ridden, ignorant idiots. But they are all idiots, nonetheless. - kickmenow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As the article did point out. From the article:
"Like Fletcher, Govs. Chris Gregoire in Washington state, Rick Perry in Texas and Haley Barbour in Mississippi routinely ride to work from their homes next door."
There are probably others. What makes the WA governor's behavior so ironic is that she publicly pushes for alternative transportation and avoiding motorized vehicles as much as possible. Duh.
As for the security angle, sure I can see how this makes the job of the security guys *easier*. But give me a break...if you can't protect the governor on a three-minute walk across the street, you're not qualified for the job. - AhronZombi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i live in KY our pigs are just as bad as them all
- mbeck145, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3why were the comments by GTPilot modded down? Was it not fair to make that point?
- mbeck145, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2He should be jailed? You are retarded Sir.
- GTPilot, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6down digging and no comments? lots of sheep or are these thoughts really way off. it's not like this is al gore who makes an environmental movie and takes his motorcade down the street to screen it.
- GTPilot, on 10/12/2007, -22/+12who cares? .. he's a governor. would you want to walk the length of a football field to and from work everyday if you were dressed in a suit? (especially in humid weather) not to mention, as a public figure i'm sure safety is something to consider as well.

What is Digg?
