- rkirmani, on 10/11/2007, -19/+369It is about time somebody in the media had the courage to state the obvious truth about this administration. Olbermann, you rock!!!!!!
- Tarindel, on 10/11/2007, -12/+282There is only one word to describe the speech: Legendary.
- LessThan3, on 10/11/2007, -10/+163Wow..this left me completely speechless. Simply an amazing speech.
Digg this to the front page people, everyone needs to see this. - kristypage, on 10/11/2007, -18/+165Way to go Kieth... :) Enough said :)
- krayyy, on 10/11/2007, -10/+133this is truly fishy and i sincerely hope congress does something about it.
the way i see it, the president is essentially saying it would be proper to drop jail time for any act of perjury, period. i cannot see how anyone defending this president's decision for whatever reason could reasonably support that stance. - johnkalel, on 10/11/2007, -8/+111Mr. Olbermann's special comment was a concise summary of the high crimes and misdemeanors committed by George Bush and Richard Cheney. It had the virtue of being plainly factual, while allowing for the nearly Old Testament fury and wrath felt by Mr. Olbermann, and by extension, by much, if not a majority, of the American public.
I do not see much of a way out of this, unfortunately, given that the party out of power is really just the other side side of the same corrupt and debased coin. The ability of this Administration and its supporters to engage in Orwellian "new speak"; black is white, day is night, what you know is not so, whatever furthers their agenda - this also argues against any reasoned conclusion, because you can't win an argument with someone willing to lie in the service of what they see as a higher good.
Really, the only hope is in public expression of dissent, as Mr. Olbermann does so well, and even to forums such as Digg, where a well-informed reality-based population may cause a revolution in ideas and an overthrow of the culture of deceit and personal aggrandizement at the expense of the country. - sobpanic, on 10/11/2007, -11/+107Resign? Much as we may wish, all that has passed has shown us that these men are too headstrong. Too drunk with power and righteousness. Too convinced of their actions and their invincibility. Too arrogant to consider what they have done. No, they will go to the bitter end before they leave of their own free will. And to the bitter end we must take them. We must free ourselves from this cancer on government and country. On liberty and justice. On all that we would call great and true about our nation.
Resign? I think not. Impeach these men and free us from this veil of darkness. - swoopdog, on 10/11/2007, -9/+98Olbermann is one of the best things on TV. Tell it like it is Keith!
- jugger74, on 10/11/2007, -6/+89You people are so pathetic so far out of touch. Every single American citizen should be in the streets screaming ,fighting and demanding the restoration of the constitution and the rights guaranteed by god, secured by the forefathers, defended by sovereign patriotic soldiers and now trampled by this administration with the congress as accomplices. The government of America is rotten to the core the republic is soon to fall The citizenry is nothing but a slack jawed bunch of mental midgets more worried about their i pods,i phones and half witted hotel heiresses than the state of their nation. You don't think this is the way they want it? They play you off each other like children Republican, Democrat there is no difference it is a rouse to keep you divided. In the end they take your money, your time, your health and eventually your family and hand them over to the corporations whose interest they truly serve. In return they are well compensated all without losing any sleep these are the type of people you are dealing with they are your enemies and need to be treated as such. Wake up quick because the time is short in which anything can be done tyranny moves exponentially and blackens everything it touches.

Olbermann's repeated "I accuse you" is a reference to a legendary letter by French author Emile Zola written in 1898, which also hammered "J'accuse" again and again. It was about the sordid Dreyfus affair, and the French government ultimately fell. I wish Olbermann the same success.
- bradpaton, on 10/11/2007, -14/+86Perjury in a case involving the acknowledged disclosure of a CIA agent resulting in no jail time, and not even the preclusion of an eventual pardon, from the "Law and Order" party is just bizarre. It truly demonstrates the degree to which partisan "the ends justify the means" logic can be taken. Get your irony-meter ready for when the next Democratic President has a similar such scandal. Remember how less than 10 short years ago perjury was considered "high crimes and misdemeanors" by the very same Republican party in Clinton's impeachment trial, but now it's only worth $250,000 and the possible loss of a license to practice law? It is truly shameful that at a time when we are trying to supposedly shine the light of Democracy on the autocratic Arab world, our Imperial President shows what a developed world autocrat is like. No balance of powers; no oversight; no consequences; just "to the victor go the spoils".
If you're proud that that is the reality in what is the self-declared "Shining City on the Hill", I'm sorry that you consider yourself an American, for we are far better than that, though it's hard to say that when all evidence appears to the contrary. - erasmocbc, on 10/11/2007, -12/+78Impeach Cheney and Bush!
- iafx, on 10/11/2007, -9/+69Truth in times like these is an act Revolution.
- junkalam, on 10/11/2007, -17/+73Keith Olbermann = automatc digg
- eggo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+52It was an opinion piece. One that reflects my own and the opinion of many of the people I spoke with today. It needed to be said
- archiesteel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+52Actually, you know what's pathetic? You, and the rest of the 29%ers. Actually, it's probably down to 27% now. The vast majority of Americans now see through the neocons' lies, but you guys still act as if you represented the majority. Well, you don't. You're part of a dwindling minority. Have a nice trip down to the bottom of the barrel!
- qubesquare, on 10/11/2007, -4/+54WOW... I've never been so moved by someone in the media. WOW. Bush's days are numbered.
- firebhaal, on 10/11/2007, -5/+54I really wish I watched him more in the past, I'm only now finding out of his greatness in the news world
- Coridan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+48“In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act” - George Orwell.
- torched, on 10/11/2007, -6/+51Wow, I think everybody should send him a thank you email for having the balls to stand up and say it.
- SenorCardgage74, on 10/11/2007, -8/+52Dont know why.
You didnt put "/dickbag" after yours. - eboy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+48this guy is my hero
- chenkersthecat, on 10/11/2007, -7/+50Olbermann is the one of the few competent journalists in the the US.
- Coridan, on 10/11/2007, -6/+47He only refers to him as Mr. Bush, because he'd lose his job if he said "YOU ***** *****!"
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -6/+43damn......damn damn damn........wow..........wish i could digg this up all night........powerful.....loved the ANGER he was clearly trying to hold back....definite win.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+39"The administration has chosen instead to focus on convenient untruths presented with superficial, emotional, and manipulative appeals that are not worthy of American democracy. The group has exploited fears for partisan political gain and its members have postured themselves as bold defenders of our country while actually weakening, not strengthening, America."
Al Gore, "The Assault on Reason." page 104 (Truly one of the best books I've ever read) - m2313, on 10/11/2007, -5/+40Wow finally someone on makes a stand on television. This is possibly the greatest speech I've ever heard and his patriotism makes me want to tear up (I know I'm overreacting but seriously somone from the MSM has the balls to stand up to the president on TV?)
- canovac, on 10/11/2007, -4/+38I'm so glad I DVR'd this video today after I saw him talk yesterday about this. Absolutely legendary, I'll never forget this story.
- aRgusChung, on 10/11/2007, -0/+34Olbermann makes "Legendary" speeches on a very regular basis. None of them have brought about the slightest bit of change.
This editorial articulates my personal frustration and outrage perfectly, and yet, I doubt it is enough to sway the opinions of anyone aligned (even in principle) with this administration.
Yes, the approval ratings are dismal, but until the American people are willing to stand up for themselves and take action, all the legendary editorials on basic cable won't matter in the least. - haydesigner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32No.
Commuting Libby's sentence is an insult.
To all of us. - kmedlin, on 10/11/2007, -7/+38I feel like Keith spoke the words running through any non-mouth breathing American's mind. That said, this is too little too late.
Where are the other major news outlets? Their big stand has been to tear up the Paris Hilton story? Where were the "journalists" when all of the things that Keith cites were being sold to the American people? Investigative journalism took a back seat so the Whitehouse Press Corps could get close "buddy buddy" access to the Whitehouse.
Where are the citizen groups raising their alarms? Where are the local news outlets detailing how each decision and false step have impacted each and every community in this country? Al Gore is right, we've sold our integrity to be entertained rather than informed.
It is sad, and I certainly hope that this speech is heard over and over again. That THIS is the topic of news. That THIS speech inspires networks and broadcast journalists to do their job and be responsible for the news that they air each night. - mikesabat, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35This is an amazing arguement. I am now a fan of Oberman and I'm actually inspired.
- grooviekenn, on 10/11/2007, -3/+31Watch the video before you comment....
The video doesn't call for an impeachment... it's calling for Bush and Co to resign. - Shawnosaurus, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31I am pretty sure that is one of the best movies I have seen on the internet. If only I could digg it several times. Please pass it along!
- DestroyFascism, on 10/11/2007, -6/+32A true Patriot!
*****!
America look at this guy protecting your butts, risking his neck and job!
How I wonder at all the spineless Americans doing harm taking their pay packets home and feeling "safe" and "Normal". The People in the CIA, the NSA, DHS all sell you out for a few thousand dollars while these men in power run rough shod over the country and they do nothing! No patriotism there! No sense of right and wrong just standing in line to the pigs trough waiting to feed on the scraps the bastard masters of the Universe left behind...Spineless and undeserving of any right to so called Liberty. - ToadLeg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26The systematic dismantling of our country is not newsworthy?
- Applu, on 10/11/2007, -5/+29Wow, well done. Praise you Olbermann.
- jasonb33, on 10/11/2007, -5/+29We digg you Keith... This is a speech which wont go unnoticed, each and every sensible American's behind you on this one... High time someone said it, now let's do something about it.. No man's bigger than America!!!

http://digg.com/politics/Tony_Snow_gets_his_a_handed_to_him_at_a_press_conference - scubasteve377, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20Well since Digg first came online in November of 2004, I would say it is quite impossible to say what the, then nonexistent, digg community's stance directly following the attacks of September 2001.
I do however recall from my personal experience a strong support of our president from everyone I talked to at that particular time, including those who thought he stole the election. This was of course before he shat all over all of us with the Iraq War. - MrEguy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21Who is Keith Olbermann? One of the FEW television journalists with a SPINE.
- eboy, on 10/11/2007, -7/+25this guy is my hero.
- DavidGX, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21Olbermann is the ***** man.
- Corvidae, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19True, but in most cases, respect is earned. George has a long way to go before he can earn the respect fitting of his office.
