- ezrastiles, on 08/21/2008, -19/+212John Bush McCain, More of the same. We can't afford this McBush crap.
- gwayo, on 08/21/2008, -17/+125Scary. Young male Republicans should think twice about voting for McSame. Pass it on.
- Rotzooi, on 08/21/2008, -16/+121Voting for John McCain is a vote for more death and destruction.
- dafragsta, on 08/21/2008, -0/+58And the sad ***** thing is HE'S TOTALLY STILL COMPETITIVE IN THIS RACE. What The *****? It's like people WANT corruption.

The republican party is *****. Don't vote for them so new leaders can emerge and bring quality back to the party. Write in people if you have to..
It is seriously like the middle ages. They have become the muscle of Christianity. Values voters and the moral "right" are actually voting for these people because of their beliefs in the bible and Christ! - bjs3171, on 08/21/2008, -5/+43just so you know this was in 2001. It's 2008 now.
and no, i'm not voting for him. - Suzilla, on 08/21/2008, -5/+38I believe you're mistaken. When McCain was asked if Rumsfeld should be fired, his response was that it was up to the president. Not exactly what I'd call a "demand".
As far as caring what McCain said at any given point in his career, you're partly right. Looking at a single instance (or issue, for that matter) will give only a limited idea of what he stands for. Taken as a whole, two undeniable truths emerge: 1) he talks a good talk, but when push comes to shove, he'll vote which ever way will get him into or keep him in office (cf South Carolina confederate flag referendum), and 2) he is strongly-aligned with the neo-con corporatists.
If Wall Street "got drunk" on Bush's watch, they're gonna be main-lining if McCain gets in. - Mikecoatl, on 08/21/2008, -7/+36Well, hopefully they're the ones who get drafted if McSame wins in the end.
- dizilbdog, on 08/21/2008, -2/+27Our country is filled with American Idol morons, and Mcain will probably win because they don't want to vote for a black guy or a democrat or the new guy. Though i could be wrong.
- chicken101, on 08/21/2008, -2/+25The surge is not a solution to the larger problem at hand.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+24Rightards have no morals, ethics, or honor.
That explains everything.
Look at the hardcore rightards on digg like loneranger and thcobbs and charlotteweb and jabberwolf. They are honorless liars on a daily basis. Do you REALLY think they choose candidates based on their integrity or value to America? They choose leaders who pander to their bigotry and selfishness.
Thus, John McCain. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+24You mean when they expanded Bush's criminal occupation of Iraq? The "surge" thingie is a success in the same sense a rape is a success if the perp gets away with it.
Not to defend Obama. He voted for the PATRIOT act, the FISA act, and against Americans in general. - dn11, on 08/21/2008, -4/+25You don't think it's relevant that McCain was full steam ahead for the Bush administration when they had a high approval rating after 9/11 but is now doing his best to reclaim his "maverick" status now that they are the least popular in history? The man has no convictions.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -5/+20mccain is a prick
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -5/+20He sure is, thanks for sharing your thoughts on John McCain.
Now, rather than vote for that mindless fool who is determined to bring 4 more years of spiraling debt and failure, don't you think America deserves better?
Is that all you warmongering cowards have left?
Crying like little girls when people point out what miserable failures you are?
I can understand that you are too cowardly to back up the politics you cheer for, I'm used to that from rightards. But you can't be stupid on top of it. Cowardly and stupid are no way to live. - richirwin, on 08/21/2008, -2/+16Facts, not generalizations.
During the Bush administration, Congressional Quarterly gave McCain a 90% score for "party unity," making him an even more reliable GOP water-carrier than fellow Arizonan John Kyl, the #2 ranking Republican in the Senate. The Washington Post similarly gave him a score of 88.3%, tying him with South Carolina's Lindsey Graham ahead of 29 other Senate Republicans.
According to CQ, Senator John McCain has voted with President Bush 100% of the time in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007:
100%? 95% 90%? 88.3%?
Does this sounds like a "maverick" or just another republican? - oldhick, on 08/21/2008, -2/+16He said that in 2001... To be fair, it would be nice to hear if he still feels the same way. In 2001, while many of you brilliant Diggers new of the horrors of Cheney and Rumsfeld, many conservatives didn't realize the extent to which Cheney and Rumsfeld had lost their decency.
Looking back, of course that is a ridiculous statement by McCain, but it was 2001. - BN2L, on 08/21/2008, -1/+15On the side of pure evil.
- BN2L, on 08/21/2008, -2/+15So you're looking forward to the day another idiot president takes office? You must enjoy being lied to.
- normalkid0615, on 08/21/2008, -4/+17Jean Luke Picard holding his head will never get old.
- incredibilistic, on 08/21/2008, -2/+14AWESOME!!!!
- bshock, on 08/21/2008, -6/+18If the US elects McCain president, it deserves its dismal fate.
- dafragsta, on 08/21/2008, -1/+13Actually, I was referring to the fact that the Bush administration has an approval rating that is close the teens now and yet McCain makes up that difference to make it a split decision according to RealClearPolitics.com, which means that 25% of the country thinks Bush is an idiot but McCain will be the right person for the job, when they couldn't be much more alike.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+12My feelings exactly
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -2/+13That was retarded, you missed my point completely.
I'm criticizing the values voters for thinking the Republicans are good examples of Christians. Put aside that I think values voters are extremely bad for this country's progress, but add in that their choices of who has good values is about as positive as my ability to exercise discretion when speaking on this subject. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+12Go back to iraq jarhead. you have no place in politics.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+12Hm. Lets See. Obama was Present of the Harvard Law Review, graduated Harvard with a degree in law with a 4.0 gpa. I would say, yeah. He knows politics. He knows Law. And he's definately more qualified than Bottom 1% McCain.
I can't blame you for your opinions though. You've been brainwashed by the US military to think whatever they want you to think. And right now, fighting in Iraq is Goooooood. McCain Gooooood. Killing Gooooood.
One day you will wake up from the spell they've put you under and realize the errors or your ways. - Sansui, on 08/21/2008, -4/+15If you want to talk about foreign policy failure, all you have to do is point to George W. Bush, and then point to the trend line of John McCain's support of George W. Bush.
John McCain is full of nothing but blustering alpha dog rhetoric against Iran and Russia etc, which sadly is the kind of rhetoric that appeals to the "***** yeah, 'merica" kind of voter here.
Whether or not this is relevant since it's 2001... Idk, but Republicans sure like hiking back to Obama's youth a lot! Lets say we hike back to McCain's infidelity... ONO, The conservatives have invoked the PoW shield! All reporters abandon the hard line and start throwing softballs again lest we be crucified for questioning the PoW's judgement! - dn11, on 08/21/2008, -2/+13instead of making sweeping generalizations I would prefer just to replay McCain's own words... preferably on endless loop until November.
- FrenchAnarchy, on 08/21/2008, -0/+11As in the average age for a Republican voter is 53, 29% more of them didn't complete college than registered Democrats, and 40% desribe morals and social issues as their top priority, despite the fact the Jesus Christ is the priince of peace and not the prince "of the sanctity of marriage", I can safely say most Republicans are retarded.
- tastypaste, on 08/21/2008, -0/+10Do you idiots even know what socialism is? We have lots of socialist programs in America. Programs that have directly benefited every single citizen regardless of age, race or political affiliation.
Including, but not limited to: public education, the post office, the Interstate system, public highways, welfare (which prevents the poor from turning to crime to survive), medicare and medicaid, social security etc. etc. They might not be perfect but they've made big improvements in the quality of our country and the lives of our citizens. So the next time you want to bash socialism just because you were told it was bad, try thinking about it first. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+10no - YOU are!
- malex, on 08/21/2008, -0/+10Did... did you just say "remember 9/11" in relation to the war in Iraq?
I'm truly amazed. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+12In 2001, Bush's approval rating was around 90%.
90% of you are hypocritical *****. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+10The only McCain is gonna do is get us into the third world war. Something that a uneducated warmonger as yourself would probably welcome, but "real world" intelligent people understand is undesirable at least, and mostly completely unsustainable. Our economy is on the brink of collapse due to just the farce that is the Iraq Conflict.
Plus if this supposed experience you speak of is McCains ability to crash planes, involve himself in shady business practices, and kiss peoples asses like he does...then yeah I'll give you that McCain has "experience." In being a *****. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+12No, *****.
Their policies will be the same.
McCain says so.
Are you calling McCain a liar?
McCain will be Bush 2, a steady continuation of the policies of failure that are on course to ruin this country.
Try facing the facts instead of crying like a bitch. - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -2/+11Um, why? These same people think Bush is just the greatest thing to happen to the country since Howdy Doody. Can the ***** about how the Republicans are falling into a trap. They WANT a third term of Bush. Sure, maybe they want a fresh face, but they want the same policies.
- tastypaste, on 08/21/2008, -1/+10That's like saying I'd rather vote for Hitler than for anyone else because I know where he stands. So you don't care where he stands just so long as you know what it is? If Charles Manson ran for President and told you his policy would be to slaughter pregnant women and black children, you'd vote for him just because he told you he was evil in advance?
Now that's what I call retarded. - kmom5, on 08/21/2008, -0/+8If the worst thing in the world were to happen, then I wouldn't suggest coming here to gloat. I would suggest praying for our country and fellow Americans, because we're all going to be up ***** creek without a paddle.
- fromaworld, on 08/21/2008, -8/+16What did Obama have to say about our foreign policy in 2001?
Oh yea. I forgot, he wasn't even in congress in 2001! - SpacePoet, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9Helps when all the information fed to the masses is controlled by 6 corporations, and i think 5 of them are owned by republican shills. Americans need to stop getting their news from these infotainment industries.
- kemp34, on 08/21/2008, -2/+10So you would vote for someone who is knowingly crazy, unprincipled, not fond of the Constitution and corrupt because you know where he stands? Sounds pretty ridiculous to me.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+11Nobody has to convince anybody of this, ezra's just stating the obvious. I mean, what's there to debate? McCain's already proven himself to be a horrible candidate. Besides, what's the alternative? Obama? There really is nothing to debate when it's not exactly as if the other side is much better. My question is, why are you defending McCain? Why defend McCain, or Obama, or mainstream politics in general?
- Darksilverstrea, on 08/21/2008, -3/+11Obama won't go into Pakistan without permission. NO future US president will- Iraq has taught that to any would be commander in chief. The only way that would happen is if we FIND Osama bin Laden in Pakistan and their government does not allow us to go get him. If that were the case, I don't think a single American would be against that. Also, McCain is a warmonger. He has made his entire case that we will be at war against terror for the foreseeable future and he is the one who will be best to handle it. My big question to those McCain/War on terror supporters: How can you win a war against an Ideology? It's IMPOSSIBLE. So long as people can think, people will follow ideas. So long as people have different standards of living, people will blame others for their misfortunes and thus we have people following ideologies. The war on terror is STUPID. We should go after those who attacked us, but lets do it with a dose of reality and pragmatism. America is the best country in the world, but we are still bound by the limits of humans and human nature.
- dafragsta, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9What are those good things again? It's like robbing a bank and saying the money was the good thing that came out of it. There will be a day of reckoning for those holding that money.
- phydeaux70, on 08/21/2008, -4/+11I think a lot of people seem to forget this fact. It's easy for him to look at everything in hindsight when he wasn't even elected at the time.
- orelses, on 08/21/2008, -3/+10Didn't Rumsfeld work out deals with Saddam Hussein in the 80s? Mccain talks about judgement. the problem is he, Rumsfeld, and Cheney are caught up in some old world, cold war wet dream, that will in principle never have an end.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7I hope you're the first solider deployed to Russia or Iran when McCain starts some ***** war.
- kenedamick, on 08/21/2008, -2/+9Yet even more constructive material from a dumb ***** neo con.
