Glenn Beck = clown in a suit. - seaofcheese, on 07/03/2009, -8/+120Glenn Beck is really trying hard to one up Bill O on the crazy holy ***** scare the children factor.
- HopeForTomorrow, on 07/03/2009, -4/+77The 9/12 project; also known as "everybody living in fear so we can restrict your liberties and further our political power" project.
Right? - jdh24, on 07/03/2009, -9/+78What the ***** happened to Michael Scheuer? I seem to remember him blaming American foreign policy for leading to terrorist attacks against us... Looks like he got Foxed.
- bodiez, on 07/03/2009, -9/+72WHAT THE *****.
Freedom of speech is cool and all, but this is ridiculous. This is basically supporting the murder of innocent people, and thats not right in any perversion of the thought. This is sickening. - m3arvk, on 07/03/2009, -3/+65Something about hoping for a terrorist to attack us in order to prevent terrorists from attacking us just doesn't make sense to me.
- richmomz, on 07/03/2009, -6/+63His latest rant seem to completely fly in the face of this. Advocating a terrorist attack to drum up public support for increased police powers is nothing short of treason of Orwellian proportions.
- spookyttws, on 07/03/2009, -3/+60Damn straight Stewart feels passionate about the issue, I think we all do.I live across the country in Southern California and didn't lose anyone personally in 9/11 so it clearly didn't hit me like it did actual New Yorkers, but obviously we were all hurt by the attack. If you haven't seen it, Stewart gave the most heartfelt and all encompassing speech after 9/11: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?titl ...
Be warned, to this day I can't watch it without tearing up. - JustChillin12, on 07/03/2009, -6/+45It's a shame Scheuer would say something like this. He has been an outspoken critic and expert on America's overseas military intervention, something I think many of us can agree with.

- chlai88, on 07/02/2009, -14/+43He sounds and looks like Osama bin Laden's cousin. It's just simply disgusting and unbelievable !
- pintomp3, on 07/03/2009, -4/+33It's like saying the best way to get a girl to act more cautiously is for her to be raped.
- nextekcarl, on 07/03/2009, -1/+28It's over 9000!!!!!!!
- RandomGorilla, on 07/03/2009, -4/+29He's a former government official advocating a terrorist attack on American soil. It's close enough for me, GET THE ***** FIRING SQUAD!!
- jgzman, on 07/03/2009, -4/+28"The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States..."
That sounds like 'arguing in favor of' to me. - Wakkyweed, on 07/03/2009, -0/+21What?!? 9000? That can't be right! No one can be that big of a douche!
- jgzman, on 07/03/2009, -1/+20"The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States..."
That sounds like 'arguing in favor of' to me. - rabidjester, on 07/03/2009, -3/+19Must feel good, defending people who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. And they make more money than us proles could comprehend.
I know, teh evil libs are the same - but I can't fathom expending this much energy sticking up for one of their talking heads. - weeFred, on 07/03/2009, -0/+15No the guy was entirely serious. His statement was full of irony, but he certainly didn't mean it to be.
- pipo9, on 07/03/2009, -1/+16i dont know if its just me, but i did not catch the slightest touch of irony or sarcasm in his voice/gestures/ pitch/corporeal movement etc
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -10/+23Here's a full length interview with Michael Scheuer:

http://antiwar.com/radio/2009/07/02/michael-scheue ... - jobobshishkabob, on 07/03/2009, -3/+14Can you please put it in context?
- scarwars, on 07/03/2009, -5/+15@whiskeythief:
Must be lonely in your world. - StarlessKnight, on 07/03/2009, -2/+12@whiskeythief: Better question, can you form an argument that shows people are wrong without relying on the lazy mentality that liberals are evil and/or stupid?
Rather than "Are all liberals [stupid]...?" you could simply ask people not to buy into spin... REGARDLESS of which "side" its from. - DarthVolta, on 07/03/2009, -1/+11@slumper:
you say that like it's somehow different from what pintomp3 said. it's not, and it's just as ***** up. - Induane, on 07/03/2009, -2/+12whiskeythief:
The man said "The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States..."
Which means quite simply that he believes thats the only way the country will be ok and survive moving forward. if he ISN'T hoping that will happen then that means he is hoping for the destruction of the country because in his eyes a lack of such an attack means the country is going down the tubes. On the other hand if he wants the country to succeed (again all this is according to his inane logic) then he must be hoping for one of these attacks if its the only chance our country has.
So either he wants America to go fail or he wants Bin Laden to attack and kill Americans. The way he phrased his statement akes what he said an either/or situation. Unless you want to argue that he "miscommunicated" like all humans do from time to time. Glen Becks response bugged me too. He didn't say what I"m about to but his statement felt like it could be summarize as follows:
"Well, it really sucks but America is doomed without a terrorist attack on our soil to push us in the right direction. It sounds harsh but it may be that the slaughter of innocent Americans is the price we'd have to pay to protect our country."
I really hate reasoning like this. What is wrong with people who spout stuff like this? I'm hoping they are doing it for the ratings and as a reflection of their target audience and not as an influence on others. - pintomp3, on 07/03/2009, -2/+12He's all over the place. Back in 2002 he wrote that there was a working relationship between Saddam and Al-Queda. In this particular case it's not about intervention, but isolation. His xenophobia is so strong that he thinks the only way an anti-immigration response to his liking would have to come from a terrorist attack. He is less a neo-con and more of a freeper so he fits right in with Glenn Beck.
- Malarie, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9I am sorry and i mean no offense at all when i say that. but man... Fox News is so ***** up its unbelievable.. Comments like this one would probably have provoked a riot up here in mah cold Canada.
There was elected official who called a very sensitive subject about health care "sexy thing to have for a senator's career" and she had to basically resign.. She had to apologize on national TV. not sure you'll find this in the US. - NorthMass, on 07/03/2009, -6/+15I don't think he was calling for another terrorist attack. What I believe he was trying to say was that the only way people in our government would do anything that would help people was if there was a terrorist attack and people got angry. I believe he worded it poorly, but I don't think he was actually saying that he wanted a terrorist attack.
- Ebichu, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9Was it just me, or did Stewart look really angry this time.
- sleel, on 07/03/2009, -4/+12So basically, in order to prevent a terrorist attack, the US government has to step up its security. In order to step up the security, there should be a terrorist attack. Does not quite make sense.
- siyengar, on 07/03/2009, -14/+22How long will Douchebags like Glen Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly and Limbaugh pollute the air waves? Can't there be a Fatwa to shut these religious, neo-con zealots? Ladies and gentlemen, this is evil rubbish and treason, not free speech.
- jobobshishkabob, on 07/03/2009, -5/+13Those beliefs don't necessarily make me believe those statements were sarcastic.
I am against intervention as well, but I would never go around suggesting we need to get attacked again. He sounded quite serious. You can usually tell when people are being sarcastic. Unless he is missing a few emotions, he did not sound sarcastic. - DankNugzPlz, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8Didn't that already happen?
- joshwehatetech, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8What I don't quite understand really. Was there more to that interview and some context removed, was he being a bit sarcastic, or was he 100% serious?
- TheEggAndI, on 07/03/2009, -2/+10b-but-but!...jon stewart is a left wing nut who hates america and wants the terrorist to win!
- whiskeythief, on 07/03/2009, -2/+9As of this date, one still cannot be prosecuted for the crime of "subliminal nodding".
- pintomp3, on 07/03/2009, -1/+8Ha, a fatwa from religious zealots against religious zealots. It's sad the right-wingers don't see how much they actually have in common with their perceived enemy.
- mathyu21, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7Jon Stewart = The reallest mother ***** on Television
- canadabluesfan, on 07/03/2009, -7/+13Jon Stewart is a genius.
- dsmx, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6It was also a fantastic bit of television that was better than anything any of the major news networks did.
- Indecision77, on 07/03/2009, -4/+10Yes, it would sound like you're advocating, or at least hoping they get searched without a warrant.
- SushiCW, on 07/03/2009, -3/+9Why the crap is a post containing relevant extra information and context getting dugg down?
- JoeMondo, on 07/03/2009, -1/+7@NorthMass
"The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States..." - TheSwashbuckler, on 07/03/2009, -2/+8LOL!
He wants them to attack us so that the government will protect us from them attacking us. Of course, if they don't attack us - in which case we don't need protection - that's a bad thing.
Give me a ***** break! - Indecision77, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6Wow. FYI, Scheuer attempts to defend his statement posting some comments as "Longstreet" at the bottom of the link below, but all all he seems to know how to do is attack the people there:
http://washingtonindependent.com/49373/is-michael- ... - inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5It should have been obvious at least 5 years ago to any rational thinking person that there is no threat beyond what threatens the official word. In essence, we are the only threat to these people. I plan on being an informed and persistent threat.
- krazikamikaze, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6Reasoning with people like whiskeythief is hopeless. Trying to deny a completely valid interpretation of this guy's statement and constantly calling anyone who doesn't agree with him a "liberal?" Yeah, that's a great way to selectively ignore valid points that differ from your own, but to everyone else it just makes you look like a partisan moron.
"Based on your suggestion that I promote my opinion, but ignore facts..."
Um... no. He's saying you should (nicely) point out where you believe he is wrong without resorting to name-calling. It doesn't matter if he's liberal or conservative; if he's wrong, he's wrong. Accusing him of being biased one way or the other doesn't make him wrong and therefore is not a convincing rebuttal, no matter how many times you call him a liberal. In fact it makes your position seem weak because it implies you think your opinion isn't strong enough on its own.
"...I am guessing you are also a liberal."
/facepalm - pyrite013, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5Protect us from what? How many terrorist attacks have there been on US soil since Obama took office? He has beaten GWB's record by exactly 1!
