- burnin8, on 01/13/2008, -5/+231This is a good clip, don't get me wrong... but was anyone else annoyed at the full minute of McCain's portion being repeated?
- Berkana, on 01/13/2008, -20/+208Racist? No; that wasn't a remark about race. Defaming a culture with crude stereotypes? Yes.
McCain is an ass. I used to respect him when his big deal was campaign finance reform, but he's sold out. Now, he's just another neocon.
I do wish Ron Paul would have pointed out one more thing, since he has demonstrated that he's not embarrassed to tell the truth even when it is unpopular: Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait because Kuwait was slant-drilling to tap into Iraqi oil reserves. (No, this doesn't make Saddam Hussein a great guy; he was still an evil tyrant.) This complaint was registered with the UN to no avail. When the question of Iraq militarily invading Kuwait in retaliation was brought up with the US ambassador April Glassby, THEY WERE TOLD WE HAD NO OBJECTIONS TO THEIR INVASION PLANS, and so they went ahead and invaded. Then we went to war with them to liberate Kuwait.
See this little documentary, with Scott Ritter, a former Marine intelligence officer, and a former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, for a more complete story on how we totally corrupted and abused the role of the UN inspections in an attempt to justify to the public the case for war with Iraq to take out Saddam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMbsZU83ajc
Our foreign policy in the middle east is twisted and shameful. If more people knew, none of the other candidates would have been able get away with their idiotic remarks in opposition to Ron Paul's insights. - Goodanswer, on 01/13/2008, -32/+151McCain REALLY shoved his foot in his mouth on this one, and then he just stood there smiling like an idiot while the whole audience agreed with what Ron Paul said which was/IS the problem.
McStupid just smiled away because he knows he is wrong. Not to mention Mitt looked like he was about to crap his pants. - Frostman3D, on 01/13/2008, -7/+87I hate videos that replay the same few seconds over and over again, like you're too stupid to catch it the first time or something.
- jmpeagle, on 01/13/2008, -65/+126wow, this submission is racist. Being anti a specific religion does not fall into racism. Unless you believe they are the same thing which is racist. No, not all muslims are arab and not all arabs are muslim.
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -33/+94Ron Paul being smart, logical and espescially, making actual arguments (that's extremely rare for a campaignin politician). Please, I'm begging you, vote for this man. You've never had a candidate with so much integrity. NEVER. Anyway, I know you're all tired of hearing about him, but damn, I and the entire planet would thank you for electing this man.
If it means anything to you, the entire planet wants you to vote for RP:

And in any case, the comment wasn't racist. Just hateful and disrespectful, which is probably why the audience agreed. McCain is an insane *****. - deadmoo, on 01/13/2008, -16/+71True, the description is wrong. But what McCain said was still very culturally insensitive to Arabs. McCain basically said all Arabs (not muslim) == Al'Qaeda suicide terrorists. That is wrong too. Neither Paul nor McCain said jack about Islam or Judaism. I don't know where the digg submitter or the youtube submitter got that. Someone should repost this video with a proper description.
- MutatedNantuko, on 01/13/2008, -3/+57REMIX!
Burkas. Burkas, burkas burkas. B-b-b-b-burkas. Burka-burk-burk-burkas. All they. All they. All they wanna trade is burkas. Burk burk burk burkas. - LloydBentsen, on 01/13/2008, -15/+66Mac is Whack!
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -7/+53True. In fact, only 20% of world Muslims are Arabs.
And I just want say McCain doesn't know his ass from his elbow. - jjmarq, on 01/13/2008, -26/+64why isn't THIS all over the news???
- AlexGrant, on 01/13/2008, -22/+56I'm a rational person, but I'm overcome with rage just looking at McCain in this video.
- rootnik, on 01/13/2008, -3/+30This is the most annoying clip I have ever watched. I couldn't even force myself to watch it long enough to get to Paul's response, because of the ridiculous editing done to McCain's response.
- kooft, on 01/13/2008, -6/+32McCain's an idiot, but so is the person that edited this clip. Did we really need to see 5-second the McCain clip crudely repeated for 80 seconds? Myspace has a frickin' slider that allows you to rewind.
- jmyname, on 01/13/2008, -15/+40Al Qaeda Is not a race
- kooft, on 01/13/2008, -4/+29Well, Paul was talking about trading with Arab nations and McCain responded with, "I don't want to trade with al Queda...". Claiming that Arabs = al Queda is labeling all Arabs as terrorists, and that is racist. How popular would he be if he said about trade with Israel, "I don't want to trade with penny pinchers..."?
- Dundasbro, on 01/13/2008, -2/+26Myspace?
- 1town, on 01/13/2008, -4/+27Equating the entire muslim world with Al-qaeda is racist.
I'm pretty sure no one suggested trading with al-qaeda, the joke was really "I don't wanna trade with [muslims], all they wanna trade is burkas" - skyshock1, on 01/13/2008, -3/+25McCain said he's not interesting in trading w/ Al-Qaeda when commenting about the Middle East as a region. He basically insinuated that the entire middle east is Al Qaeda. If you can't see the blatant ignorace of this statement, please stay home on election day.
- bowe, on 01/13/2008, -1/+23Head ON, Apply directly to the forehead. Head ON...
- 1town, on 01/13/2008, -5/+25Ron Paul raised the issue of trading with the arab/middle eastern countries. Mccain interjects with a joke about not wanting to trade with al-quaeda. Basically, mccain fronted the idea that everyone in the middle-east is Al-queada. Which of course is what you have to insinuate, if you wanna keep up the belief that killing hundreds of thousands of brown people is just fine and dandy.
- SuperMoses, on 01/13/2008, -2/+22That wasn't racist, but I hate seeing McCain smile like a prick while RP is telling him shameful facts about the US
- mattsta, on 01/13/2008, -7/+26Maybe he isn't rascist, but the comment just shows what an ignorant, insensitive moron he is.
If a politician in the UK made a faux pas like McCain's Burkha jibe, he would have been fired immediately. That kind of comment would cause serious unrest here.
And they say Ron Paul is a rascist! LOL! What a joke.
McCain is being touted as the Republican frontrunner in the UK press........BUT HEY! Most of our newpapers are owned by Rupert Murdoch.......!
The mind is repelled, truly. What an absolute disgrace the media is. - DeepFriedFetus, on 01/13/2008, -13/+29Ron Paul should have slammed him on that. But his response was good anyway. This guy should be hung like a pinata at a birthday. party. Also don't forget his "gooks" statement. What a vile pig...to hell with guy. American hero, ha. "Ooh, John McCain was tortured and happened to not die, American hero!" What *****...
- rotundo, on 01/13/2008, -1/+17No, I think the submission is right on and you're missing the point: Paul was speaking about trading with Arab nations, and McCain said he didn't want to trade with Al Qeada. By playing fast and loose with those two very different groups, he did mock the entire nation of Islam.
Imagine that some Saudi politician said "we should trade with America" and his opponent said "I don't want to trade with the KKK!" Wouldn't you say that was pretty insulting to America? - smacksaw, on 01/13/2008, -2/+17I thought Mitt looked like he was genuinely sizing-up what RP had to say. If RP is going to strike a chord with people, Mitt isn't so stupid as to not pick up on it if it suits his political means. Look at Huckabee talking more and more about reducing the size of government and lowering taxes. He wasn't doing that until Ron Paul proved it was a popular idea with a certain segment of Republicans that were being underrepresented and falling into Paul's hands.
- stealthrocket, on 01/13/2008, -0/+15yeah that was ***** annoying. After the third time I got the point.
- misskari, on 01/13/2008, -5/+20The repetition was not necessary. Got it the first time.
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -4/+19John McCain is a slimy neocon. He is a racist scum.
- DeepFriedFetus, on 01/13/2008, -9/+23No, you're absolutely wrong. In 1996 and 1998, Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri issued two fatwas saying that Muslim jihadists would continue to kill Americans until they withdraw their troops from Islamic countries and end their support for Israel. And McCain's comments are absolutely racist - he is insinuating that the only thing al-Qaeda wants to do is trade burkas, solely based off the fact that their Muslim. Not all Muslim people want to trade burkas. He's also saying that every member of al-Qaeda is a suicide bomber, which is more ignorant than racist. He also forgets that even though he's "not interested in trading with al-Qaeda" because "all they want to trade are burkas", the United States has traded many things with al-Qaeda including aid and weapons during the Soviet-Afghan war. So they're obviously not only interested in trading burkas. Really stupid comment.
- colonelbuckshot, on 01/13/2008, -12/+26Umm, that remark wasn't racist. But it illustrates the hostile attitude he holds towards the Muslim world in general. Rudy Giuliani is just as bad.
- Scaryclouds, on 01/13/2008, -0/+14Two or three times would of been fine for dramatic effect, more than that and you kill your own message.
- smek2, on 01/13/2008, -2/+15And this is reason enough to flag this post as "Possibly Inaccurate"? A man who happily sings a song about bombing another nation onstage is a sick *****. I'm sick of seeing almost every post which critisizes McCain, Ron Paul, Global Warming issues and whatnot flagged as "Possibly Inaccurate". Even though you might not 100% agree with an opinion, it is very childish to mark it as "inaccurate", hoping it would simply vanish.
- mushoo, on 01/13/2008, -1/+13I just skipped it, and I can't believe how McCain can stand there laughing like a moron when Paul is accusing him of wanting to stay in Iraq for 100 years. The ***** is laughing while discussing the lost live of those in the army and the possibility of extending such loses exponentially.
The reason they tend to edit clips like this is because of the audience response. You have a pretty good number of them laughing along with McCain and the best way to gloss over it is to do an annoying edit job like this one . - fyngyrz, on 01/13/2008, -0/+12I don't think we can reason with them for a second; however, I don't think we belong in Iraq or Afghanistan either. We're spending lives and funds we aren't going to get back, and which will not result in any gains for us. The second we leave, those countries will begin to implode. If we don't leave, they'll remain wells of endless violence and continue to cost us lives and funds. Ron Paul wants us out of there; frankly, I don't care why, I just agree 100% that we should be out. Those countries are toxic to themselves and to us. The money spent on these aggressions would have been FAR better spent on developing nuclear and solar power, electric vehicles, ultracaps and so forth.
- GregZor, on 01/13/2008, -7/+19When McCain made those comments and Paul wanted to make another comment I was expecting Paul to slam him for how beligerant McCain's comments were. Instead, Paul simply went back to speaking about policy and truth, and didn't lower himself to attack McCain no matter how terrible what he said was.
That proves something about Ron Paul. He's an amazing man of character and honor and doesn't let himself get sidetracked and tempted by easy jabs. - snypa, on 01/13/2008, -11/+23This man (McCain of course) is a complete whackjob. Ignorant *****. It sickens me to think people vote for this racist *****.
- inactive, on 01/13/2008, -2/+14I wish Paul would slam them when they make comments like that. I know it's lowering himself to their levels but he would really get some ground going with the idiots if they knew he'd fight back with some old school ownage.
- bowe, on 01/13/2008, -1/+13If Al Qaeda only has Burka's, why can't our trillion dollar military seem to stop them? Better yet, why are we worried about them? Is there suspicion that they have Burkas of Mass Destruction?
- sanman, on 01/13/2008, -6/+17Wow, and McCain said it 10 times too, as the video shows us
- KMye, on 01/13/2008, -1/+12nor is it "the entire civilization of Islam"
- smacksaw, on 01/13/2008, -5/+16Corrected:
***** the Islamofascists, Al Qeada, Iran and their satellites Hezbola and Hamas! Oh and people who name themselves EditorResponse and post in political threads AS WELL. - Lionhart, on 01/13/2008, -3/+13Okay well how about instead of throwing idiotic insults around you go ahead and join the military and fight the fight you deem so necessary. You NEOCONSERVATIVE WARMONGER. I can capitalize too.
"islamofascism" is a direct product of America's foreign policy since the cold war. We armed Bin laden and gave him power, now we are arming the Iraqi's. If we would just stay out of the middle east we wouldn't have these idiotic problems. - BlueSkyfish, on 01/13/2008, -6/+16Saying the entire middle east is Al Quida is racist
- hangman16, on 01/13/2008, -2/+12You are a dumbass. It is racist in context. Ron Paul was describing talking to Arab countries and trading with Arab countries. McCain then morphed it into 'al Queda', essentially saying everyone in an Arab country is a member of al Queda. They are not the same thing and Arab people have more to offer than just Burkas. He is being racist against Middle Easterners in general. It's not the comment that matters, it's the context and what he meant by it.
- bagelmaster, on 01/13/2008, -0/+10"The growth of Islam in the world can only be compared to an out of control metastasizing cancer."
You can just as easily insert Christianity into that sentence and it still makes sense. - Claverhouse, on 01/13/2008, -2/+12And, uh... somehow you are exempt from keyboard hidance --- being a macho non-liberal or whatever you are ?
