John McCain of 2000 is long gone, no matter what GOP says

buzzflash.com — John McCain spent the last four days thinking it was 2000. Britney Spears had the summer hit with "Oops...I did it again." And the New York baseball teams were headed to the World Series. But the McCain of 2000 is long gone. The McCain of 2008 isn't as compelling.

    How on earth can an American not find this compelling:

    "Fight for what's right for our country. Fight for the ideals and character of a free people. Fight for our children's future. Fight for justice and opportunity for all. Stand up to defend our country from its enemies. Stand up for each other; for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America. Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We're Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history."

    I don't care who says it. If you don't feel a sense of pride in country hearing or reading those words, you have problems.
