- alapoet, on 07/01/2008, -21/+94It's going to be an Epic Fail if we elect this doddering simpleton as president.
- neognostic, on 07/01/2008, -15/+62He's making my 90 year old grandfather with Alzheimers look like a candidate for "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader"
- ZenMojo, on 07/01/2008, -23/+52McCain's at 42% in the Time poll. 42% of this country doesn't believe in evolution. 42% of this country, I surmise, is absolutely ignorant.
- wphj, on 07/02/2008, -5/+25Seriously, imagine if Obama made this mistake, they'd be all over him.
- jepaco, on 07/01/2008, -13/+33This is just one more of a proliferating set of errors John McCain has made in discussing foreign policy issues.
- illegalamigo, on 07/02/2008, -3/+22congratulations, you have supported ps3/microsoft/mccain/ and/or an anti-drug program. you've committed digg suicide
- dinot, on 07/01/2008, -17/+33Funny how basic knowledge of international current events when discussing foreign policy is now considered "dumb *****".
- lsumed, on 07/02/2008, -10/+25Keep this man as far away as possible from the red phone.
- redslash, on 07/02/2008, -15/+30Big deal. He misspeaks about two countries that are actually pretty similar, not just in name, but in location and culture.
Earth to digg: shut up about this and all the constant crap that we keep digging up about both McCain and Obama. There are many reasons to vote for one person or the other. This isn't a great one. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -12/+25You see that guy standing in the picture? That's Mark Salter, McCain's right hand man. He wrote all of the McCain books, and he is the one who went on the HuffingtonPost 2 years ago and bitched out a top grad from NYU, Jean Rohe, who gave a speech before McCain came out to speak about some *****.
Rohe blogged about the speech @ the HuffPo and so this chump Salter came into the comments section and said "what pray tell me have you done with your little life" and went on a 3 paragraph rant about how McCain is a better person than she could ever dream of.
Of course she just graduated top of her class at NYU and was 18 years old.
Those are the type of ***** McCain surrounds himself with. - WSUcougars, on 07/02/2008, -5/+18That is so true... In fact it's almost sickening how digg has gotten. If anyone posts ANYTHING negative about Obama, Paul, Apple, or drugs it's buried straight to hell automatically.
- StuTheMeatMan, on 07/02/2008, -5/+15Sherman-
Evolution is not a "belief". It's real science. If you don't "believe" in it, then you are either ignorant or brainwashed. - illegalamigo, on 07/02/2008, -15/+25This just in: John McCain is human. The man's 72. His peers are drooling all over the Denny's menu clutching their AARP cards.
- MikeFallopian, on 07/02/2008, -4/+13Candidates who make hundreds if not thousands of public statements every week are going to mispeak. McCain confused two countries and has mixed up Sunni with Shi'ite. Obama infamously talked about all 58 states in the union. NONE OF THIS CRAP MATTERS. The obsession with soundbites and "gotcha" moments is the cancer that is killing American politics.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -11/+20McCain confuses Sudan for Somalia and Obama thinks America has 57 states.
So who's the retard here? - SpectreFire, on 07/02/2008, -7/+16Give the man a break, he's what, 108 already?
- 10lbhammer, on 07/01/2008, -4/+13did you really just copy and paste a post from two and a half hours before yours?
oh, I see you did! - ZenMojo, on 07/02/2008, -2/+10But she could never have the courage to graduate in the bottom 1% like John McCain did.
- vanguardanon, on 07/02/2008, -4/+12Liberals are full of hate and intolerance? Seriously? Let's talk about the respective party's histories with civil rights or same sex couples.
- phrenzy, on 07/02/2008, -3/+11Is that supposed to prove some kind of point? That isn't even close to relevant.
A better analogy would be if you were considering hiring somebody to administrate a web site for you, that person had been working in web hosting for 15 years, and yet didn't know the difference between html and php.
i.e. - it's their ***** JOB to know! - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+8what to say?
ahhhh "obscure"... both have been in the headlines for the last few years... ahhh... - marytnurse, on 07/01/2008, -6/+13i'd have to say that i could only probably find them; it's been 25 years since i studied them, so that's probably understandable. but i sure as HELL know which is which, and i'm not trying to be the leader of the world's most powerful nation. but i pay my taxes too, so who knows, i may just be an idiot.
- prometheanspark, on 07/02/2008, -5/+12Indeed. Obama has mis-spoke or 'mangled up' his statements before too. The debates should be interesting because they'll have equal opportunity to mis-speak.
- Sfenton, on 07/01/2008, -29/+36Holy CRAP he did what? Accidently confused Sudan for Somalia?
Well there goes my vote for McCain.
/sarc
If you people really want to convince other to not vote for McCain, then argue about policies and not about dumb ***** like this. - Beveridge89, on 07/02/2008, -3/+10In Asia, Mongolia has declared a state of emergency. In Africa, Leaders work out a deal to stop tens of thousands continuing to subsist on food aid in Zimbabwe. In the Middle East, there are claims that Israel is preparing for a strike on Irans nuclear facilities, while coalition forces suffer their worse losses in Afghanistan since the beginning of the counter-insurgency.
Okay, i'm done, but if we want to put politics on here, why the ***** is a story about a man confusing two pretty similar countries before being quickly corrected worthy of a frontpage instead of something that actually matters? - Larsonal777, on 07/02/2008, -5/+12Ummm... a word slip is not a lack of basic knowledge of international current events... heck anyone with siblings would know that just because they've been called everyname in the house doesn't mean their parents don't know who they are. the "dumb *****" would be someone disowning their parents for it.
- akash8m, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6Just like Bushism we have to start keeping notes on McCainism. One joker after another.
- dinot, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6@larsonal777
Give me a break. A slip of the tongue? It's not like he's never done this before. Remember Sunni/Shiite?
Besides, he's running for President of the most powerful country in the free world. If you can't see how this might pose a problem, even if it WAS a slip of the tongue (which I doubt), then you deserve another 4 years of George Bush ignorance-feuled policies. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -1/+7"I do it all the time."
YOU ARE NOT ***** RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT - gordigor, on 07/02/2008, -2/+8I wish I had 20 digs. I'm probably going to vote for Obama, but this is non issue. Its this little quips back and forth about stupid non important s**t that lead us to 8 years of the shrub. Focus on the important stuff!
- amoirae, on 07/02/2008, -1/+7Then why are you commenting?
- rhkenji, on 07/02/2008, -2/+7He's old. He should just be a president of a retirement home.
- fuxxx, on 07/02/2008, -7/+12The kind of people who vote for McCain also don't know the difference between Sudan and Somalia.
- GoldenPearl, on 07/02/2008, -3/+8Half you you people are probably sitting at home saying to yourself "Oh my. He is so dumb, how could he do that?" but you all don't even know where either country is.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -9/+14OMG OMG OMFG OOOMMMFFFGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh wait I just don't care. - Risingashes, on 07/02/2008, -1/+6Sherman: learn the difference between faith and knowledge.
It's likely not true that all people who vote for McCain do not believe in evolution, but the people that refuse to acknowledge evolution are ignorant- willingly ignorant. They choose to refute reality just because it conflicts with their dogma- this is worrying as it's destructive to the advancement of the human race.
I doubt it would be argued by anyone that there is a significantly larger proportion of evolution deniers supporting McCain. You'd have to worry about their judgment. - DuneChild, on 07/02/2008, -2/+7I agree, it is a little ridiculous to criticize candidates for minor slips when you consider what they're going through. We're talking about people who haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks, are constantly going from city to city to speak in front of hundreds and thousands of people. I challenge anyone to try and keep their schedule and speak without making a single mistake. Obviously Senator Obama meant to say forty-eight, not fifty-eight, and if McCain is anything like me, he knew in his head that he was talking about Sudan, and Somalia slipped out. At least both of them can say nu-cle-ar!
- mcquitty, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4@gryphon50,
Are you sure? I know plenty of people who vote blindly for a party regardless of the candidate put forward. Otherwise, how could you explain the votes some candidates get? - growler1, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Sort of reminds me off this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/506298.stm - ChillyBilly, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5Very Very Scary. Hope we never hear "We have no choice but to declare war on Iowa ... I meant Iran! Hell, I don't know what I meant. Nevermind."
- ZenMojo, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5McCain also thinks that Al-Qaeda's sneaking across the border into Iran for terrorist training....
And no, that's not a misstatement. And yes, if you actually knew why that was so stupid you would find it incredibly hilarious. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Iran and Iraq
- Number23, on 07/02/2008, -4/+8That's a dumb as saying America has 58 states!
- SpectreFire, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5I hear he was around to see the birth of Larry King.
- StarlessKnight, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5"But that will not stop them from bashing McCain over this."
"They" are not running for President. If you'd like to say this isn't important, or just an accident, that's okay; suggesting that it's okay because the general public doesn't know is not okay. In fact, considering they're suppose to be "our betters" and "our leaders" that's a pretty bad argument. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4And I'm sure you will not see this on Fox News, they're so shockingly biased. They could just broadcast it and not make a fuzz about it, after all that's what makes all of their scandals: repetition. But no, is like if they aren't covering McCain at all.
- Larsonal777, on 07/02/2008, -4/+8Umm... doddering simpleton? I'm sorry but confussing 2 names that start with the same letter is a very common mistake... I do it all the time... that doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about. Seriously... please find better things than speach and charisma to compare McCain and Obama... and please back up your statements with REAL issues. If you can't seriously prove that McCain (or Obama if he does) didn't know what he was talking about besides a word slip then please don't mention it.
Oh and wphj, That is the dumbest arguement I've ever heard for justifying this... no one even said anything before you admitted that this whole article is just ***** propaganda.
If you really have such a low regard for "they" why do you stoop to what you think their level is? - MBro, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4I'm an obama supporter and that's not that bad of a gaffe.
Move along. - wendelgee2, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4I agree that people misspeak. He mispeaks ALL THE TIME. And always about important foreign policy issues. And sometimes he misspeaks in the same exact way over and over and over (sunni v. shiite).
