"I Served Six Years In the Military. Does That Make Me Patriotic? How Many Years Did Dick Cheney Serve?" - BohicaTwentyTwo, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4What an eccentric performance.
- leoburg, on 04/28/2008, -0/+4Oh, this might just wake up some who only heard what Wright said out of context. Though I have not yet heard his whole sermon... I thought it would be good if the Great Spirits above us would find a way to be merciful to us and correct our govt's policies of helping corporations over the poor.
- WasabiBomb, on 04/28/2008, -1/+5"By your own discourse"? What the hell does that even mean?
Everything smotpoker said is absolutely true. Obama's being attacked, not on his politics, but on innuendo. I'm tired of that being "politics as usual". Obama CAN win the general election. He hasn't screwed anything up- if anything, he's run the race so far in a far more gentlemanly manner than his opponent(s). - inactive, on 04/29/2008, -1/+4I like how he got up there and said what a great man Louis Farrakhan was. How very mainstream of him!
- tcbishop12, on 04/29/2008, -1/+4I initially defended Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons as taken out of context, but it seems like Wright has found fame and decided to enjoy all of his 15 minutes, even if it might hurt Barack Obama's campaign. The Rev. is out there fully enjoying his fifteen minutes, and hoping to extend it with a new book deal, but it is becoming clear that he doesn’t care about Obama or politics. The good Reverend just wants to stay famous. Shame on him. Will someone, somewhere puhleeeze pull this guy aside and explain the opportunities for havoc he is creating?
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3The dude is literally drunk on his new found "fame". You can see it in all his mannerisms. Someone could easily make the case that he is trying to purposely knock Obama out of the race with all these appearances.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -2/+4It wasn't a GOP operative that kept telling Wright to open his big mouth.
- smotpoker, on 04/28/2008, -2/+4No, ***** like you people and MSM are sinking Obama, the entire political system and the country by validating retarded/repulsive/irrelevant conservative attack tactics.
As long as you morons keep playing these stupid games nothing is ever going to change. I'm telling you right now if Obama says or does anything to attack Wright he will have lost a lot of respect from a lot of people and at least one vote. I'm ***** sick if your childish bs.
Everything Wright said was completely justified and dead on. He has every right to defend himself and be indignant - ralph12c41, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2This hate monger "fruit cake" has the stage and he won't leave. It's all about Rev. Wright.
The alternative "left" media should have called this guy out on day one instead of fawning over him. He will cost liberals the election. - OnlineMuckraker, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Yes, truly appealing to all the voters Obama is reaching out to!
- bigriley, on 04/28/2008, -1/+2It's not bad from this perspective: This is what can make America great; diversity and the freedom of speech. We do need to face all of the diversity that the U.S. stands for. Even the working class Americans know that they too have a voice... as does every ethnic culture in America. We are proud of our multi-cultural background, which is far more diverse than any nation on our planet. (This is out there, so let's make it work for us, not against us)
- smotpoker, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Who said anything about operatives? I spoke of tactics.
- berryessence, on 04/28/2008, -3/+4STOP BITCHING AND VOTE FOR OBAMA!
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/28/2008, -2/+2In the world of politica - Its bad, in or out of context...he is sinking Obama!
- smotpoker, on 04/28/2008, -3/+3What the ***** is this? I dugg this thinking the speech was included but now I'm undigging it. Without the context of his speech and the points/tone set by it everything he says/does seems as bad as everything else ripped from context and looped on fox news
Plus the description is inaccurate, he said "a Government whose policies grind under people" not "harms poor people". He said it facetiously as sort of a joking warning meaning they are both parts of different worlds and represent different things.
I don't know if you think you're helping Obama's campaign or not but it is BS if you are trying to vilify Wright who did nothing wrong or suggest that Obama should distance himself because of moron MSM analysts - cheezeme, on 04/29/2008, -3/+3This is video when Rev Wright suggests that Obama and Wright have a spoken agreement behind close doors that Obama says whats neeeded to get elected, that he really agrees with everything Wright has to say. I think Obama's campaign just imploded. He should pull out before North Carolina, and through his support to Hilliary.
- WasabiBomb, on 04/28/2008, -3/+3You might want to read your own link, OnlineMuckraker. "Discourse" isn't the word you're looking for, as it's primarily used to denote conversation between two people who are arguing opposite sides of a subject. In other words, one person cannot have a discourse- it takes two (or more).
Even the third definiton (A:formal and orderly and usually extended expression of thought on a subject, B:connected speech or writing C: a linguistic unit [as a conversation or a story] larger than a sentence) doesn't fit the situation you're ascribed to smotpoker.
It's probably a good idea to know how to use a word before you try to use it in an argument. - smotpoker, on 04/29/2008, -1/+1This is the comment where cheez almost decides to state something relevant/accurate and then abruptly changes his mind and resumes the same pattern of fecal-regurgitation
- smotpoker, on 04/29/2008, -1/+1He's trying to defend himself and his church/style of worship. Shame on YOU for assuming he should lie back on behalf of someone who refused to defend him in any way. I want Obama as pres as much as anyone (I been supporting him for YEARS) but that doesn't mean I think everyone who ever knew him should lie back and let themselves be mauled by retarded MSM attacks. When people see injustice they should fight and speak against it, period.
He feels he has a mission to get his message out and when that message was twisted by MSM he felt a need to correct it. It wasn't just Wright who was attacked, it was his entire church/congregation (though he may have exaggerated by saying "the black church" was being attacked) - mal1964, on 04/29/2008, -3/+3Who Obama Fans like from one day to the next is comedy at its best! This is better than a floor show.
- KemeticWoman, on 04/29/2008, -3/+2Rev. Wright did not hurt Obama's campaign. America would be a much better country if we all had a Rev, Wright being our pastor. Both of them are intelligent men who want a brighter future for all Americans to have justice, equality, truth, and end to this unjust war and economy not drained by constant threats of war. We need a change, and with Barack we can all become a part of that change.
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/28/2008, -5/+3By your own discourse, you are the one being childish. Grow up! Obama can't win the general election. Maybe if he goes back to the senate he can work for change there then run for President in the future.
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/28/2008, -4/+2Here you go - Discourse: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/discours ...
- OnlineMuckraker, on 04/29/2008, -3/+1Yes, discourse was the word I intended to use. You are describing discourse as a very specific type of conversation analysis. Discourse in the sense that I was using it was more general, a written or spoken form of expression. Plus, this is a social media and by its very nature we are involved in a discursive exchange. Plus, discourse can taken on numerous meanings depending on which theoretical, methodological, and disciplinary traditions are being used. WasabiBomb using a little knowledge and trying to be pompous is not as cool as Obama makes it look! Wright??? LOL
