- WhiskeyWrites, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Sorry, didn't notice the URL was truncated. Search for the bill at: http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/
The bill is LD 2079 item 1 and the amendment is LD 2079 Item 2. - inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Title is inaccurate. A bill has just been introduced. Still, this article is a great big WTF!!!!???? "Visual Sexual Aggression", and "it wouldn't be difficult to expand the bill to cover all public places"?!?!?
Cover your eyes while you are outdoors... - 10ofDiamonds, on 05/01/2008, -0/+1Phrases like "Visual Sexual Aggression", should send chills up your spine. This is loose language and should never be allowed. Yet another example of democrats trying to push the nanny state, and turning women and parents into police.
- WhiskeyWrites, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Reading the bill itself this seems a little less worrisome, as it seems to include language that the person must either expose their genitals or that person "intentionally engages in visual surveillance, aided or unaided by mechanical or electronic equipment, of the uncovered breasts, buttocks, genitals, anus or pubic area of another person". It doesn't seem as bad if it needs to involve actually checking out naked kids, not just glances at a fully clothed kid. This does lead to the question of how the hell was this not illegal in the first place? From what I can gather from the article as well as the language of the bill, somehow bathrooms and changing rooms were not included as private areas? Or did I miss something in reading this?
I found the bill here: http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/billte ...
and the amendment that basically replacing all the wording of the original here: http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/billte ... - RecklessProcess, on 04/14/2008, -2/+2Nanny State! I want my mommy! Hillary '08!
- averagejoesgym, on 04/14/2008, -1/+1Think abou this. It's the subjectivity of it. Who's to say anything was exposed? What if somebody changes their kid's pants at the park or beach cause they're wet? What about diaper changes? This is gonna wind up being another club for women to use against men for whatever reason they want (spite, hatefulness, revenge). The bill says "regardless of where the surveillance occurs". That means anywhere, anytime, a woman can screw you over and it's your words against hers and SHE WILL WIN in the femi-friendly legal system. So, now you are a felon and a sex offender and you DID NOT DO ONE THING WRONG
