By James Pindell January 5, 2008 11:26 AM
The New Hampshire Republican Party dropped their affiliation with a Republican debate sponsored by Fox News tomorrow night because they have limited the number of candidates that can participate.
“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field,” said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. “Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures.”
The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited. - OptionsTrader, on 01/05/2008, -17/+298Polling near second place in NH, and they exclude Paul.
Polling #1 in NH is John McCain, and this new Bush wants the Iraq war to last 100 more years, his words not mine:

- Swmorgan77, on 01/05/2008, -4/+152Kudos NH Republican party. Its good to stee that there are still some honest conservatives at local levels who are not willing to let the GOP become just local annex's of the Bush/Cheney Neo-Con empire.
- RedMullet, on 01/05/2008, -15/+162Fox must bear the consequences of their actions.
Action Steps:
--Boycott Fox. Do not watch or link to them.
--Boycott companies that advertise on Fox, until they stop advertising on Fox.
--Ask your local cable provider to block access to Fox channels.
--Write, call, or e-mail Fox, your local Fox affiliate, and the advertisers to notify them of your actions.
--Write your local newspaper about the Boycott - Swmorgan77, on 01/05/2008, -13/+131They are a private company, they should be allowed to however they just shouldn't have any credibility as a journalistic organization and they shouldn't be able to pass for providing an informational public service with their "debates".
Don't fall into the authoritarian trap of wanting to coerce Fox to do "the right thing". Use the free market to make this hurt for Fox. Boycott the sponsors of this event and let them know (the sponsors) that you intend to do so. Social and economic pressures can work wonders, there is no need to appeal to force. - seth2958, on 01/05/2008, -1/+108In my mind, the fact that the very state in which the debate is being held isn't sponsoring the election seems to be a very strong message that the NH GOP does not consider the debate to be legitimate, in numerous respects. Especially considering that NH is one of the most significant caucus states, the withdrawal of the NH GOP sponsorship is truly monumental, and signifies a loud cry that the MSM must not be allowed to propagandize the minds of the general US population. This is surely a good sign that there is still some integrity left in this country. I hope FOX News suffers as much as possible for their arrogance and deception.
- seth2958, on 01/05/2008, -3/+90Can someone please explain the repercussions of this action and what it means for What The FAUX News?

- bjrnet, on 01/05/2008, -4/+72It makes me sick and mad just thinking about FOX's attempt to censor a candidate. I am a Republican and have been all my life. If the other candidates have any sense of morality and patriotism they should "also" boycott this debate/forum. If they attend, and Ron Paul is excluded, their very presence should tell you a lot about their character as an American.
- faxxy, on 01/05/2008, -9/+73I would love to see one of the invited candidates show up and then stand up mid-question, and walk out in protest of excluding Paul.

http://pollspolls.com - chupavacas, on 01/05/2008, -3/+62This is great. The NH GOP did the right thing. If I were an advisor to the other candidates I would advise them to also pull out. The independents in NH would love them for it.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -7/+65Now it is still a matter of us the people, even if your not a Dr Paul supporter you should support democracy. Check ronpaulforums for a list of sponsers at Fox, and lets show them what blowback also is.
- GetUthunized, on 01/05/2008, -3/+53Thank God...now if we could only get Fox News to stop doing debates, period.
- Frostman3D, on 01/05/2008, -0/+49This is GREAT news! I'm so glad they did this, and I hope word spreads around that they dropped their sponsorship.
I've watched FOX NEWS a lot and they've definitely done an injustice to us all by the way they've treated Ron Paul.
First they treated him like a nut, then they blacklisted him. They caught a little flak for that, so they started mentioning him again over his fund raising efforts, then they blacklisted him again. Not sure if any of you have noticed, but they don't even mention him in the polls. They didn't even show his results in the caucus but twice the whole night. They don't want people on their channel talking about Paul, and if they do, they better mention that he's a nutjob. I used to like Fox News, I consider myself to be a conservative, but Fox is really slanted. Slanted to the point that it ceases to be a News organization and it becomes the propaganda wing of the Neocon infiltration of the Republican party. Fox has helped the Bush Administration RAPE our civil liberties and constitution.
Don't judge all conservatives by these people, we're not all bad. - AlexLibman, on 01/05/2008, -11/+55w00t! Go Ron Paul!
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -1/+44Why would they want to give Paul free publicity? Half of them are probably behind the idea not to include him
- sacha8, on 01/05/2008, -4/+47It's an outrage what Fox news has done. They are harming this nation in more ways than one. Only the most discerning Americans should watch Fox News and even then it should not be their primary source of news.
- Look4Truth, on 01/05/2008, -1/+42"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." - Thomas Jefferson
"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter." - George Washington - faskippy, on 01/05/2008, -0/+41You know, it doesn't matter who you support in this election. Attempts to censor ANY candidate should be met with staunch and rabid uprising from the citizens. If you can't listen, you cannot learn, and if you cannot learn, you are apt to become a pawn for your vote. It's trickery. I don't like ANYONE trying to trick me into voting for someone just because it serves their interests. I would love to see a truthful media source pop up. Can you imagine the reader base?
- quakerorts, on 01/05/2008, -2/+41Now let's see if the other GOP candidates are too afraid of Fox "News" to do the right thing and withdraw from the debate.
- pkonink, on 01/05/2008, -9/+45100% agreed. Attempting to force Fox to have Ron Paul in their debate goes against what he believes in. But there is nothing wrong with dumping your newscorp stock, not watching their nonsense, boycotting their sponsors, telling everyone you know about their anti-democracy practices, etc. New Hampshire has done the right thing. Forcing Fox to have Ron Paul in their stupid debate is the wrong thing.
- bitspace, on 01/05/2008, -3/+37I'm not Republican, and disagree with much of Dr. Paul's position, but this is good news indeed. There is no legitimate reason for the arbitrary choices that Fox made for participation in the debate.
- TheGuin, on 01/05/2008, -3/+35Don't get too giddy, FOX is still having the debate, just without the blessing of the local GOP.
- MikeFallopian, on 01/05/2008, -1/+33Well done by the NH GOP. I'm by no means a Ron Paul supporter, but this was without a doubt the right move. You can't exclude candidates who have considerable support on a whim and expect that no one will bat an eye.

- r3d0x, on 01/05/2008, -1/+23This is incredible. Finally the people have a say in what goes on in politics. Maybe the title is right -- humanity does have a chance. We can only hope for greater publicity and even distribution of campaign funds, and strive further away from censoring politicians who have the right things to say.
