- geonet, on 10/12/2007, -18/+85Well, he is good enough and gosh darn people like him.
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -31/+62I just heard him announce this on his final radio show. I wish I were a Minnesota citizen so I could vote for him, he really is a great guy. He should be especially proud of all the money he has raised for Operation Helmet, a private organization that purchases the proper padding for the helmets worn by the marines in Iraq in order to help prevent brain damage. The army already has this type of padding, but the government does not provide the same protective gear to marines.
BTW, you can donate to Operation Helmet at http://www.operation-helmet.org/ - FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -14/+42"but it would be nice to have a celebrity in office from my state. "
Jesse Ventura not good enough for you? - Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Warmest city? In Minnesota? *smirk*
I'm from (and currently in) Minnesota. If you don't like the cold - don't come here. Not only will you be frozen to the point of breaking, you'll be ridiculed as well for being a wimp. Like those people who wear jackets when it's above 50 degrees F outside, or gloves when it's above 20. - Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25I don't expect Norm Coleman (the incumbent senator for this seat) to see much support here on Digg, but please do consider that he is the ONLY senator that has criticized the RIAA's frivolous lawsuits:
"I don't think we need to club people to death to get people to understand that downloading is a problem," Coleman said. "I worry that the tactics and the tools are excessive."
"I'm still concerned that the law and technology are not in synch here," he said.
Coleman said he was concerned about the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's broad subpoena powers. The 1998 law requires Internet service providers to surrender the personal information of their customers to a copyright holder. Such a request does not require a judge's signature, or force ISPs to notify customers that someone is seeking their personal information.

- neoneddy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27what a great reason to vote for him.
- JimSartor, on 10/12/2007, -16/+32Now all we need is Christopher Walken in the White House and things will be looking great.
Walken2008.com - gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -21/+35i doubt it...have u ever even listened to his politics? He's not one to reach across the aisle. This is comparable to Rush Limbaugh running for the Republicans.
- dunezone, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23Lets just hope his campaign is better then his movie "Stuart Saves His Family".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Looking for the warmest spot in Minnesota is like looking for the coolest spot on the sun. On the other hand, we don't have much of a homeless problem.
- hobbeszero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17The Senate meets in the Capitol building.
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"You'd think the vampire electorate would have goth rocked the vote a bit harder."
The voting boths don't open until after sunrise and close before sundown - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+19Social Security is not 'free money', you nitwit.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Jesse got some good things done, though his unwillingness to "play the game" (as if governing should be considered a "game" in the first place) was what kept him from accomplishing much. The Democrats and the Republicans joined forces to ensure that nothing Jesse wanted would ever happen. Yay for bipartisanship! :|
Let's not forget that Regan was an actor before we start saying that celebrities shouldn't be in the government. - bikeboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Christopher Walken in the White House? Is that SERIOUS? (The website looks serious at first glance, but I'd hate to play poker with Walken... know what I mean?)
I could support Walken - I believe the White House could use MORE COWBELL!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17He knows the "FACTS"? What reality do you live in? Oh, nevermind.
- neoneddy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16Does it matter anymore? Minnesota is turning into a nanny state that seeks to protect us from ourselves more and more. Lately there has been less and less different between Republicans and Democrats, so I now lump them all into one group "Politicians", so go Al Franken (P).
However, there is a vast different between Social Liberals and Constitutional Conservatives (our President is not a conservative, I try to be however) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18Liberal logic. Ya gotta love it!
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16Some info for people like me who don't know who he is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Franken - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -12/+18...Satan?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"But what if you don't have boots?"
Um. Get a job, work hard, and buy some? - Sandwiches_Time, on 10/12/2007, -11/+17You signed up just to make that comment? Call me a cynic, but that makes your intentions here questionable.
Digg is meant to be a social bookmarking site, not a political tool. - robdiggity, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16Now Bill Maher, HE'S a political tool.
- Habemus, on 10/12/2007, -11/+16"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" ~George Santayana
AD 40, Caligula threatens to appoint his favorite horse to the Senate.
AD 2008, Minnesota threatens to send a lamer comedian to the Senate. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+18i thought my state learned its lesson after the reign of jesse ventura.
- Woodpecker, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Pipdip, are you saying Jessie 'The Body' Ventura isn't a celebrity?
-Edit: Damn it, Freep, you beat me by 10 seconds. I still said The Body first, though. - catalysis, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Hurry, get the tinfoil!!
- Maarek, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13@ Gallagher
2 of his most consistent guests on his show were "from the other side of the isle"
Mark Luthar was an almost weekly guest and was the "Resident Ditto Head" and was treated quite well although they rarely agreed.
Norm Ornstein works for the American Enterprise Institute (very right wing think tank) and seemed to be an almost daily guest. He is also a friend of Al's and was on the last show.
From what I've seen he's quite willing to discuss and debate with civility those on the other side who are willing to do the same. - TheCash, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14"Dennis Miller is a bigger political tool."
Are you smoking crack? Dennis Miller is smarter then 99 percent of the House and Senate. Funnier too. Ok well maybe not funnier then Kennedy, but he's not trying to be funny. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I know you were being funny, but you're right. Liberals want those that make money to take care of everyone that would rather sit on their ass. "The RICH"! It's like a mantra. Only it's not the "RICH" that are taking care of them. It's you and me. Socialism sucks.
- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -15/+19I still can't believe that norm coleman holds the seat of such a visionary, paul wellstone
http://wellstone.org/
Go Al!!! - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6If you are going to rip off a Reagan quote 4wheel, please do it correctly:
"Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so. " - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9That's right. He's an educated idiot! He went to almost as many colleges as President Bush!
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Hahahaha. I am so glad I don't live in Minnesota. Oh wait. I live in California. Crap.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12Is Harvard good enough for you?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11yeah .. remember back when Al Gore claimed that his mother was forced to eat dog food because she was so poor?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I sure do, but I wasn't stupid enough to vote for him.
- chubbybubba, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12He does seem like a likable guy, funny too... but in my opinion He's too far left for most moderates...
- PopcornDave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Well he did do some writing for Saturday Night Live with Tom Davis, but that was in the late 70's I believe - back when it was still funny.
- tolkan, on 10/12/2007, -22/+25God Help us all....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I didn't know Reagan said that. It makes perfect sense!
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Work hard? Pffffff. That is for chumps. The correct answer is:
Quit work, Get welfare check. Spend money on stupid habits like smoking and gambling. Forget about the boots. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+25This is PERFECT! A bad comedian from a failed liberal radio station running for office! How FUNNY! This will most likely go down as the best comedy he's ever done. The only thing that could make it better is if the morons voting actually vote him in! Best comedy routine EVER! It's not that liberals are ignorant, it's just that they know so much stuff that isn't true.
- mrgarza, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Fanken is NOT FUNNY. Stop telling lies.
- JonGalt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5oh gee wonderful news. A colectivist hippy. GJ MN, hope you enjoy soft communism.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4So is G.W. Bush, and you HATED him!
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Actually, Minnesota consistently comes out in the top 5 on nearly every poll that rates states "good" to "bad" on topics like health, technology, environment, quality of living, education, and so on. Florida consistently comes out on the bottom of those same polls, unfortunately.
- minox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6This is what our celebrity culture gets us. We vote for them and we get just what we deserve.
- jakiah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Mark Dayton was not a Republican and did not run against Amy Klobuchar. Dayton is a Democrat and did not run for re-election. She won Dayton's open seat against Mark Kennedy.
