- herecomes, on 04/16/2008, -12/+93Don't worry G.W., the public has a really short memory. Six months after you're out of office, we'll all remember you as the lovable chump, and we'll be telling humorous stories about you while we're standing in line for food stamps and Red Cross handouts.
- killbert24, on 04/16/2008, -22/+98Yet nearly half of the American people support McCain in the polls because... uh... he was tortured and is really old. McCain also supports warring with the middle east. Makes TOTAL sense why people want him to replace Bush.
- Persian5Life, on 04/16/2008, -7/+77your mom must be a real bitch to be compared to Bush and the RIAA.
- arcooke, on 04/16/2008, -5/+74Yes, actually I can. He informed the American public that there is not just one, but multiple internets. That man is a wealth of knowledge.
- katiedogg, on 04/16/2008, -6/+71Yes I guess the mental health crisis in this country is worse than we thought, if the majority of the people in the country are "mentally retarded."
Another argument for single payer health care, I'd say. - lhbaker, on 04/16/2008, -7/+70I take it you represent that mystical thirty percent minority of sane people who ALWAYS approve of Bush's performance?
- fluoro, on 04/16/2008, -4/+67Gave money for AIDS? Neat. That's really awesome of him. He also personally approved the US's first official torture program. Yeah, he's a swell guy.
Eliminated Saddam under false pretenses. Maybe he did the people of Iraq a favor, or maybe he didn't. That's irrelevant, really, when he had to lie to us in order to get it to happen. Was all the money we've invested in this invasion worth it? All the American lives we've invested into it? All the Iraqi lives we've thrown into the crossfire? You don't seem like the type to care about Iraqi lives though, so focus on how much ***** money we're wasting every day and then think about what we're getting out of this investment. We've ended up creating more terrorists than existed before, we've fostered more hatred in a part of the world that we probably didn't need to foster more hatred in. Was all that worth it?
Tax cuts giving us short-term economic growth is not useful when our debt is plunging us deeper in the hole at a faster rate than ever. Don't brag about petty economic growth during a few years when the country we're leaving for our children is going to be completely and utterly bankrupt.
Maybe the Dow Jones reached new heights, but it's also had a lot of turbulence. Either way, you can't necessarily attribute that to the president. We had really good economic times with Clinton, and a huge bubble in the market. Some people try to attribute that to Clinton, but I think that's BS. He happened to be president then, and Bush happens to be president now. We're falling into a recession now, but I bet you aren't jumping to attribute that to Bush are you? - PhilLesh69, on 04/16/2008, -9/+68Publically hating Bush makes you a coward?
How is that?
Oh, I get it. If you don't blindly support the guy who read "My Pet Goat" to schoolchildren after being told that the country was under attack, you are surrendering to the terrorists! If you don't like the idea of sacrificing your constitutional rights and protections in order to "fight islamic fascism", you are a coward who would rather let the people that hate us for our freedoms win, by wanting to hold onto your freedoms.
I get it.
No... wait.
You people are the cowards. 9/11 scared you so much that you will do or accept whatever your dear leader tells you is necessary to protect you from scary bearded muslims who live in caves. That is the true definition of cowardice. The people with courage are saying, "Hey, wait a minute! If they hate us for our freedoms, why are we abridging those freedoms in order to beat them? Isn't that just handing them victory? Are you saying that by taking freedoms from American Citizens, as a reaction to terrorist who attacked us to undermine our freedoms, we are brave and courageous??"
***** cowards who believe in the neocon ideology. They don't even understand that Neocons are not republicans, they are straussian socialists, and they are taking these half-wits for a ride. The true courage comes from wanting to uphold American principles in the face of threats and attacks. Those that are willing to sacrifice American principles in the face of danger are cowards. - asskicker32, on 04/16/2008, -24/+81nothing to see here. This is a nonstory that retells what we already know about Bush's approval rating.
- worldinmyeyes, on 04/16/2008, -16/+71Ten Steps to Fascism (via yellowcakewalk's website)
1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy.
2. Create secret prisons where torture takes place.
3. Develop a thug caste or paramilitary force not answerable to citizens.
4. Set up an internal surveillance system.
5. Harass citizens' groups.
6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release.
7. Target key individuals.
8. Control the press.
9. Declare all dissent to be treason.
10.Suspend the rule of law.
Thanks Bush, you're almost there. Just invoke NSPD-51 and it will be complete. As a reminder, President Bush on May 9th, 2007 signed a presidential directive (NSPD-51) that would allow him full control of the government and the country without congressional oversight. All it will take is a national crisis that doesn't even need to take place in the western hemisphere, and we will have ourselves a true dictator. No election, no Congress, no Constitutional government. It's that simple. Would he really sign such an order if he wasn't seriously considering using it? - SoulGrub, on 04/16/2008, -8/+57Guess what. Bush is also more or less indirectly responsible for hundreds of thousands of rapes and deaths in Iraq

Are you serious? - TeddySanFran, on 04/16/2008, -8/+41Bush's approval has been below a majority since before he was INAUGURATED for his second term. We've never seen historic lows like this. Attributing America's dislike of Bush to second-term fatigue is intellectually dishonest. Bush is a liar, a fraud, a thief, and a plutocrat -- and America knows it.

- aliengoods, on 04/16/2008, -2/+18OK, let's address your points.
>Bush has given more money for AIDS in Africa than any president in history.
This was addressed above, so I'll not repeat the information.
>Bush has eliminated Saddam and his 2 sons, responsible for hundreds of thousands of rapes and murders in Iraq.
Whoopee. And he's big buddies with the Saudis who subjugate women to a second class, where you get murdered by the state for being raped. Also, his "I hate Saddam" antics have crippled us in term of foreign relations and the mounting debt from the war is destroying our economy.
>His early tax cuts actually stimulated the economy, as JFK's tax cuts did.
His tax cuts gave a short term boost. The same thing happens when the fed cuts the interest rate. Also, that economy you're bragging about is in the ***** right now because Bush has absolutely ruined it through his borrow and spend tactics.
>The unemployment rate is very low.
Really?
http://www.forecasts.org/data/data/UNRATE.htm
For much of his presidency it was quite high, and is on the rise again. Current projections are that within one year as many as 1 in 10 will be on food stamps. Also, during Bush's presidency productivity went up 20%, but factoring in inflation most people are making less, so we're doing a hell of a lot more work for less pay. Way to hang your hat on that one douchebag.
>The Dow jones has reached new heights since Bush's presidency.
And the dollar is at record lows in my lifetime, which is driving up the cost of everything from gas to bread, not to mention those wonderful lead-based Chinese goods. Speaking of gas, that's at record highs too. You're bragging rights are just getting sad.
>Digg me down as usual. It doesn't make my comments any less valid.
I dugg you down because you cherry pick a few points which in no way reflect 3 basic facts.
1. As a people we're working harder to make less since Bush took office.
2. As a country, we're not as safe as we were before Bush took office. He's depleted our military and no one can seem to figure out why.
3. As a nation we're worse off than we were before. - buckrogers1965, on 04/16/2008, -4/+19None of that qualifies him as President. I thank him for doing that for his country, but if you are only voting for him for those reasons, then you are the reason that democracies fail.
- Gabberwok, on 04/16/2008, -3/+16No, being mentally retarded would suggest that we might actually BE him.
- waynechng, on 04/16/2008, -1/+14Done with #5 ... will get to the first four some day ...
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -7/+20Do you know who is voting for McCain? old white people, thats it, it doesn't matter what he supports, he is old and on the republican ballot.

Then Barack willl engage the people to overthrow the government. I'll be there, with an AK47 and a packed lunch. - Persian5Life, on 04/16/2008, -5/+16first comment of the day that i laughed at.
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -17/+28I love these priggish and self-righteous Bush supporters that crawl out of the sewer whenever someone criticizes Dear Leader. Half the time they're the same hypocrites decrying the "Obama cult".
- NightVortez, on 04/16/2008, -23/+34Really? Did they not count the South when they ran the "straw poll" for Lincoln? Who honestly liked Nixon? Heh, whatever, Bush is a horrible president and all but this "in history" ***** is stupid.
- MoofTheStoof, on 04/16/2008, -2/+13Clinton had good approval ratings at the end of his second term.
