- obliviousfool, on 10/11/2007, -3/+50Obviously they aren't for tax relief! If they were they'd be behind Ron Paul. He's the only candidate who wants to do away with the IRS! How much more relief can you get?
- phineous, on 10/11/2007, -2/+49Wow, this story is getting more complex by the minute. These guys have been exposed!
- SwordOfShannara, on 10/11/2007, -5/+38They have also recently excluded Presidential candidate Ron Paul from their presidential forum to be held shortly. This is unreal as Ron Paul has the best tax voting record in the past hundred years. He has NEVER voted to raise taxes AND he votes for tax cuts. He is the rock star of Tax Reform - yes he never got an invitation. Ed Failor is the man who made this decision- and he just happens to be the senior adviser for McCains Iowan campaign.
Ron Paul all the way!!
http://www.Freemp3mail.com/RonPaulBlimp.cfm - rocke86, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30Don't call him at home. Call him at his business number, be nice. Ask him why Ron is excluded when he has consistently voted against tax increases and why other candidates with less support are being allowed in.

If you live in Iowa is is especially important to call him, since he listens more to those who call from Iowa. - diggingbar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28It smells like the McCain Camp to me.. I thought the McCain/Feingold Act (google it) was supposed to prevent this sort of thing.. Perhaps I'm wrong.. I Guess the McCain dude (ED FAILOR) is acting as SPAM blocker for the American people.. Perhaps he's one of the handful of people in here constantly down digging Ron Paul news and floating SPAM accusations..
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Please stop burying this topic. We really want this one. Don't say it's already there. We want it on the front page. You can quote the other 70 plus, but you buried them all so they won't accomplish the goal. We really want this.
- Larofeticus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Calling the man at home is offensive.
That crosses the line between grassroots activism and harassment.
Not that I don't agree they were wrong to not invite that certain individual...
but decent people campaigning for the just cause only remain decent so long as there are some below the belt actions they refuse to take. - jeffiek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Eureka. I got it. The foundation really is about tax relief. Silly me, I thought that meant paying less taxes. It doesn't. It means you get to got to meetings listen to speeches, bitch and moan a lot, and pat yourself on the back. THAT's the relief they're talking about.
- Larofeticus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18The federal income tax only pays for one third of the federal budget.
Cutting that, redistrubuting all the responsibilities of government to where they should be, and auctioning off all the government resources they shouldn't have, leaves more than enough money to pay off the debt. - bastaroid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17actually, I live in IA and am very active politically. 'Iowans for Tax Relief' is a group that does exactly what that article says.
as an afterthought, be weary of any candidate or group who uses the phrase "tax relief." It's just another example of doublespeak. marketing has replaced platforms in the US political system so be extremely critical of all language used - whatthehell9, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18Yes, we need to show class.
Do not call people at home. We are fighting for our civil liberties and that includes the Fourth Amendment.
Privacy.
But at "Iowans for Tax Relief" and "Iowa Christian Alliance".
There we need to keep calling. - sinless1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18How do you not invite “The Taxpayers Best Friend” to a forum for “tax relief” advocates?!?
Ron Paul is the foremost authority in Congress on taxation, the Constitution, monetary policy, and the Federal Reserve. Isn’t this an EDUCATIONAL forum? Does Mr Failor really think his membership would'nt benefit from hearing Dr Paul's insight?
On the radio, Mr Failor repeatedly spoke favorably about his respect for Ron Paul, and how he loves Dr Paul's views. Yet he continued to defend his decision saying the Dr Paul was not a "credible" candidate. And that if he brought him on board just because of Dr Paul's voting record and credentials, it would make the invite "political" and violate his 501c3. C'mon, that doesn't pass the smell test. - UtahApocalyse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17
June 19, 2007
Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance will host a presidential candidates forum on Saturday, June 30th in Des Moines. Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Tommy Thompson, and Tom Tancredo will participate.
Ron Paul, however, will not participate. Why? Because he wasn’t invited.
We heard about this forum from numerous supporters in Iowa who asked why Dr. Paul was not going to participate. Those supporters assumed that Dr. Paul was invited.
The campaign office had not received an invitation so we called this morning; thinking we might have misplaced the invitation or simply overlooked it. Lew Moore, our campaign manager, called Mr. Edward Failor, an officer of Iowans for Tax Relief, to ask about it. To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate. And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain. The call ended.
Lew then called Mr. Steve Sheffler, president of the Iowa Christian Alliance, to talk with him. Mr. Sheffler did not answer so Lew left a message. He has yet to respond.
Why are the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluding the one Republican candidate who scored at the top of every online poll taken after the MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN debates? Why are they denying Iowans the opportunity to hear from the Republican presidential candidate whose popularity is growing by the day?
We couldn’t get answers to these questions from Messrs. Failor and Sheffler. Maybe you’ll have better luck. Their contact information is below.
It's ironic that on the same day we learned the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluded Dr. Paul from their candidates forum, we received a call from ABC News confirming Dr. Paul’s participation in its nationally broadcast August 5th debate to be held in Des Moines.

Wtf? Declared war on Ron Paul? Are we gonna start chanting "Death to the infidels" and call for wiping Iowans for Tax Relief off the continent or something? Is there going to be calling for suicide bombers? Wtf dude.
Despite what feel-goods you get from harassing his family and invading his personal space, it does in fact make you look stupid and foolish, which reflects badly on Ron Paul, and gives ammunition to the crazies who demonize him.
Bush had a lot of international support after 9/11 too... till he put aside rational thought to "go after the terrorists"
(As a side note, I support Ron Paul wholeheartedly, and the Iowians for Tax Relief disgust me) - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Actually, you can't really justify that more people don't. 1 bury = 10 digs, therefore you could only actually say "you want it, but 10% of digg doesn't"

Wow, More bad news for Ed.... - airship, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I live in Iowa. We're using our tax money (and some of yours, from a federal grant) to build a rain forest here. Indoors.
I liked it better when the state was run by a bunch of hard-nosed Lutherans. - BrokenBokken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Des Moines propper has the eight highest tax burden in the country. And to make it worse they want to pass a 1% sales tax increase for something called "Project Destiny" which is supposed to fund the arts. The kicker though is those for the increase say it will result in lowered property taxes, but 3 of the 4 counties involved in project destiny have already stated there will be no reduction in property taxes. Not to mention some of the money that is supposed to fund the arts will be going towards building a new firehouse for a nearby city.
Thankfully, I only work here. I live elsewhere. - w3bsmith, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I dugg you down because of the fallacies in your logic.
First of all Country Clubs are usually by invitation or acceptance only. Secondly, you can leave a Country Club voluntarily.
As that compares to a country, if you are born here you have not volunteered to join this 'club', and if you try to leave good luck. You may be declared a terrorist, wind up on the no fly list, or get shipped out to the middle of the sea deep in the hull of some navy ship; if you're lucky. It all depends on the mood of your government at the time. Another mood factor would be the fact that if they want you back, they will squeeze the country that you have moved to, providing you got out successfully, to get you extradited back!
Like hell is like a desert resort, a country is like a country club. - oddmanout, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11the whole point is to not have a big wasteful economy to have to fund. He wants to get rid of a lot of these departments that don't do anything... or that do it very poorly. The IRS doesn't even need to exist... it costs millions of dollars a year to run, why not just up sales tax and do away with the whole dept? Then you can tax people when they spend money, not when they make it, and you will have to tax less b/c you're not running a multi million dollar office.
- polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8"Real world polls" that not everyone gets to vote in. Yeah, that is really representational of the publics opinion. Ohhh...and don't give me the crap about a 'random sample'.
- kpezzy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7this is so frustrating OMG! is there any forum that isn't politically bias, arrrg come on people im with ya! Lets take back our country too many good people have died for whats right, In my honest opinion there are more Ron Paul supporters than people think, 43 million Google links in Ron Paul's name keep up the good work Brothers
- CPMan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Don't bother the Coldwell Banker Group folks. They are no longer on the list of co-sponsors.
- bjornski, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Ron Paul doesn't want to pay taxes either.
- mikey90210, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7If Ron Paul has all these supporters, maybe they should go to the forum
http://www.taxrelief.org/presidential_forum.htm
They don't have to applaud for anyone, especially if Ron Paul is excluded, but they will be able to vote in any straw poll taken
Won't that be strange, the one person specifically excluded winning a straw poll!
I would suggest against wearing any Ron Paul shirts, but you can put buttons on after you are seated, and you can bring handouts.
This is a positive action that you can take. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6In following the link and listening to the program(podcast) I find that the representative from the Iowans for tax relief is the least credible individual I have heard in years.
He couldn't come up with a real answer and talked in circles and when pressed for an answer he just talked in a faster circle.
I think he deserves the mule award. - jerbaker, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7The article uses the Wall Street Journal as a reference. In the FA from the WSJ they claim that people are leaving California because of taxes. Any Californian knows that's a crock of *****. Californians are leaving California because of home prices and illegal immigration. No matter how un-PC it is, people don't like being a minority, and in Southern California most cities are more than 60% non-white. They don't call it "white flight" for nothing. You can sell your house for $750,000 and pay cash for a house anywhere else, and escape the graffiti-covered, gang infested ***** that California has become.
Why is almost every conservative cause based on misinformation and/or ignorance? - obliviousfool, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@bubbadoo989, wasteful is right! I'm a small government guy. You know, the people of the USA never asked for this extraordinary debt. We spend hours scrutinizing our personal finances only to have the government misplace trillions of dollars on our behalf and load us up with astonishing interest obligations. I'd slash away at all kinds of stuff. The military, the DHS, the CIA, corporate giveaways, ...heck the IRS probably costs a lot to run. Don't worry about Iraq, "the oil will pay for it." j/k!
- drxavier, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Ordinarily I would object to calling him at home. But calls to his office are just routed to voice mail and not returned. Call him at home, if you like, but be polite.
- Palmetto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5They must like the Iraq war.
- BabaRamDass, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5C'mon guys, I think equating calling the guy's house to chanting "Death to the infidels" is a bit extreme.
I really hate the "personal life" vs. "business life" false dichotomy. If I run a business that kills baby penguins, I'm not going to be surprised if a bunch of PETA folks camp outside my house and protest or try to make my personal life a living hell. What a person does is what a person does, regardless of whether it's under the pretense of "personal life" or "business life". People are responsible for their actions, and I don't think my personal life should have immunity to things I do in my business life, and vice-versa.
Call the bastard at home. He deserves it. - Misesean, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"The theory which construes taxes on the analogy of club dues or of the purchase of the services of, say, a doctor only proves how far removed this part of the social sciences is from scientific habits of mind."
