PS -- they also discussed bombing Iran....... - ileen4justice, on 07/08/2008, -10/+38You neocon freaks are so, so ignorant. Never heard of the Project for a New American Century??? A bunch of crap? Cite your sources you twisted rancid spreader of hate......

- pintomp3, on 07/09/2008, -3/+22when war becomes profitable, the reasons for war will be profit.
- philodygmn, on 07/09/2008, -4/+21 "'a prisoner of its energy dilemma' as long as Saddam Hussein was in power."
That's hilarious, considering how much worse a version of that they got by ousting him the boneheaded way they did. - GrandmaSheila, on 07/09/2008, -7/+23You gotta love those feeble-minded neocon grunts, who lack those few genes that got the rest of us down from the trees. They're still swinging there, hooting and gibbering and throwing leaves and feces at the rest of us who have always seen through their testosterone-drenched blood-and-iron *****. It would be amusing, if their natural aggressive stupidity and viciousness didn't kill so many innocent people.
- sodade, on 07/09/2008, -3/+16Well, the least we could do here is give these corporations the bill for the war.
- synthpop, on 07/09/2008, -2/+15when you have an oil-man president, oil-man vice president and a national security adviser that sat for 9 years on the board of Chevron, what exactly did people expect their solution to the energy crisis would be?
oil men only know one thing - how to extract oil from the ground, even if that ground doesn't belong to them - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+14Looks to me like ileen is the one incapable of having a rational, normal discussion. I've never seen anyone on Digg express so much open hostility and hatred other than the racists from groups like stormfront. It really makes you wonder about her real agenda.
- Truzseeker, on 07/09/2008, -2/+13Go ileen ! (lol) love it when someone puts up supporting facts that shills can't handle.
- Waiting2awake, on 07/09/2008, -3/+14The world would cheer..
- RogueGenius, on 07/09/2008, -3/+14Iraq was about oil. Is this really news? Everybody with any intelligence knew that from before the start. That is why we were against it from the beginning.
- colonelbuckshot, on 07/09/2008, -2/+12can we at least keep this ad-hominem garbage on just one thread?
- Rotzooi, on 07/09/2008, -4/+13I'm looking forward to the day I can piss on these guys' graves. Literally. It's not much, and too late, but it'll make me feel good - in more than one way, even.
- swrostmore, on 07/09/2008, -3/+12“Saddam Hussein has also demonstrated a willingness to threaten to use the oil weapon and to use his own export program to manipulate oil markets."
Can it be spelled out any clearer? Control over oil exports was the only WMD. - cheechman85, on 07/09/2008, -5/+14You're comment gives me a headache. Can you write more then three words without using.........
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -5/+13Wait, WHO has repressed hate?
"You neocon freaks are so, so ignorant. Never heard of the Project for a New American Century??? A bunch of crap? Cite your sources you twisted rancid spreader of hate"
Wasn't that you, ileen? Well, to be totally correct, you don't repress your hate. You just put it right out there ;-) - robEstyles, on 07/09/2008, -3/+11advisers told the Bush administration that the United States would remain “a prisoner of its energy dilemma” as long as Saddam Hussein was in power."
Lets compare oil prices from when Saddam was in power to today. - specialK16, on 07/09/2008, -2/+10Shut your hole dude... go troll somewhere else.
- GrandmaSheila, on 07/09/2008, -10/+18Just checking in, keymanjim still giving us simian dominance displays, just like his ghoulish masters programmed him to do. He's a random sound generator for nazi criminals, an enabler of warcrimes, their dupe and their tool, with the same bestial mindset.
Hey key, nursey doesn't like it when you go off your meds and commandeer the gameroom computer. Aren't you late for that "treatment" ? - sodade, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8We should organize pissing parties when one of these ***** dies.
- angeladtao, on 07/09/2008, -11/+18The world is not laughing at ileen. You have obviously not been keeping up with the news lately. The scab is starting to be ripped off the deep abcess of the Bush admin, and the purulence is starting to come out. Bush et al committed felonies, and Bush had the gall to try to pardon himself and all his little henchmen prior to his leaving office. In a deeply buried clause in a bill about re-defining the treatment of detainees, he inserted a pardon for himself and all his cronies extending all the way back to 9/11. Coward. What does he have to hide
that he is so desperate to do it like this instead of relying on the next President to do it as usual? Take a look. People in the world are laughing at anybody who still has an ounce of faith at this pathetic, incompetent, criminal liar! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jHQ7Prwh7Gc&NR=1 - malex, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8If you have any facts, I'd like to see them.
You seem to be suggesting that the "Strategic Policy Challenges for the 21st Century" document doesn't exist... but since it does, it's more likely that you're simply in a state of denial.
(Your argument is represented by the bottom layer of this chart:
http://x56.xanga.com/d5585271566a8183708200/b14073 ... ) - Rulz1234, on 07/09/2008, -2/+9Its really important not just for America but also for the rest of the world that you guys actually do something about what your government is doing, they are raping and pilaging every thing that your country stands for without any fear of its people.
Where i come from we have alot of american influence but we wouldnot let our contry defile our consitution like yours is doing nore it explote its people to that degree, it wouldent be that bad if it were simple little lies to cover up general little ***** ups that can happen (bad investment ect).
The real problem is that these lies are HUGE and constant and you guys arnt doing enough, whilst i personally wouldent move there America is a good country a great country at that but your giving that away and letting it be suppressed, controle your government bring them to accountability and stop just talking about it!!!. - sodade, on 07/09/2008, -3/+10keymanjim2 - you win the douchebag of Digg award for this crap. Are you not aware that you sound like a ***** child?
- JekJob, on 07/08/2008, -13/+19ileen, pay no attention to the *****-head behind the curtain. He exists for the sole purpose of proving to people on the internet how wrong he can be. He'll die sad and alone.
- noahhoward, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7Starting with Bill Clinton, the man who mandated regime change in Iraq in 1998? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Liberation_Act
- noahhoward, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7compliance in this case meaning hinderance. Since when has "Oh no, you can't go there just yet" sound compliant.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6I have no problem believing the war was about getting oil control out of Saddam's hands. I have even less of a problem believing that the Gulf War was also solely about oil, but just wrapped up in the guise of helping the Kuwaitis remain free. I have no problem believing that everything we do with regard to the Middle East has oil as its underlying factor.
Why would anyone expect anything different when it comes to dealing with countries that collectively supply the vast majority of oil to the globe? Get a hold of yourselves. - zhavah, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7How do you figure? Their corporate masters have made billions of dollars, compliments of current and (many) future US taxpayers, and now they've strong -armed Iraq's oil. With permanent bases in Iraq what do they care that a few soldiers and civilians are paying the price?
- kjizzle, on 07/09/2008, -2/+7GASP! you're kidding?
- tellahoohooo, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6you mean ask for the money we gave them back?
- ileen4justice, on 07/09/2008, -4/+8Why don't you get off your butt and get a job?
- tonyteetime, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Well, OPEC traditionally only sell oil in the currency of US dollars. So if any industrial countries in the world want to buy OPEC oil , then they must trade with America in order to get the US dollars it needs to buy OPEC oil. In essence, we are making the rest of the world use our currencies. The Feds can sit back and print money out of thin air, because they world need US dollars to buy OPEC oil . Pretty smart huh ? Alan Greenspan said we went IRAQ due to oil and I believe that.
Another interesting note is that Iraq, Venezuela and Iran whom are all OPEC members threaten to sell their oil in Euros, and then next thiing you know is that they were all label as axis of evil countries. :-)
See this video on petrodollars to see how oil and the supremacy of the US dollars as the world currency must be protected.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-501903509 ... - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5If all of saddams WMDs were destroyed then why was the rest of the world still saying that they existed?
And where did the 550 tons of yellowcake uranium that was sold to Canada come from? - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Yes, it was old, but there were tons. That doesn't mean it wasn't there. Yes, it was known about since the Gulf War, as in we knew it was there. That somehow means it doesn't count? And just because they did a ***** job storing it, it doesn't count? Our inability to make Saddam get rid of 500 tons of yellowcake over all these years means it doesn't count?
It was also still useful enough that they could have produced weapons grade material:
"The IAEA placed a seal on the nuclear materials in November of 1992. From then until the fall of Saddam, the agency attempted to make sure that Iraq did not use the yellow cake to reconstitute its nuclear program, something the IAEA acknowledged could be done if the Iraqis were able to rebuild its centrifuges and gain access to additional fissile material. Keeping track of the material was made extraordinarily difficult by the Iraqis who regularly impeded IAEA officials from carrying out even the most routine inspections."
Now, I am not claiming it was anything more than it was. I am just saying there was material there, that could have been used. It is really lame that it sat there at a "nuclear research" facility for so many years. Saddam could have done whatever he wanted with it.
You are much more invested in ignoring it than I am. I am just pointing out there were items (this is just one) regarding WMD's, not JUST oil, as you claim. I realize anything said that doesn't fit your slant is ignored, so just move on. - VitriolAndAngst, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4And what alternative do we have?
McSame?
The only chance we got is to vote Obama and then hold him to our principles. Hopefully, he is merely running a "bush like" election, and will actually become a Liberal once elected.
You'll notice that Bush's campaign of "compassionate conservative" were never followed. Nothing he said from environment to education was actually carried out. So, going the other way, let's hope that Obama is doing this trick in reverse. - d3lta, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5It might be quite apparent now, but immediately after 9/11 there were very few things people wouldn't have done if Bush had asked. This is precisely why french intelligence, within hours of the attack, sounded serious concerns about spreading the war to Iraq based on ulterior motives.
A couple of years later, people were still swayed by Bush and Rumsfeld's baloney, and the next thing you know restaurants start serving freedom fries.
Whatever happens, we cannot be fooled into a another war, especially against Iran, without extremely strong evidence AND support from the rest of the world. Otherwise it really would be the end of this country as we know it. - FlaNative, on 07/09/2008, -3/+7I wonder if the widows of military personnel can sue them?
Of course the White House will claim "executive privilege" to any real investigation. - Ellipsys, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Honestly, the problem is that short of armed revolt and a total overthrow of the government, there isn't much that a freedom loving citizen can do at this point and still remain law abiding. We write letters. We march in the streets. We try to elect the people who say they're going to make the changes we want. However, they never do. They cater to lobbyists, big business, and pork barrel project contractors who have way more money. Regular people who are trying to pay their bills are running out of ways to influence their government. Sadly enough, because there are still enough "bread and circuses" many don't even care. This two party system is a failure, and the new boss is only the same old boss with a different mask. People will get angry and chant "down with government", but also refuse to put any restraints on big business who are often pulling the strings. What else can people do?
- Hangly, on 07/09/2008, -6/+10I thought everyone knew this.
- Krakerjax, on 07/09/2008, -3/+7The fanatical terrorists seem to only strike when the government stands to gain. Why not when the little man needs some help?
- JohnReb, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5They just removed over 500 metric tons of the raw materials for Saddam's WMD program that predates Clinton's campaign.
Seems that Bush's "disastrous" war was at least 500 tons more effective than Clinton's "effective" bombing campaign. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Yellowcake uranium is a precursor, not a by product.
I'd tell you to educate yourself but you've already tried that and failed. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3"Listing the specific actions that Public Law 105-338 authorized the President to take is considered "spin" now?"
When you pretend that is the full extent of 105-338 (Titled the "IRAQ LIBERATION ACT") yes, it is spin
"2) Military assistance.--(A) The
President is authorized to direct the drawdown of defense
articles from the stocks of the Department of Defense, defense
services of the Department of Defense, and military education
and training for such organizations."
That was how it started... - noahhoward, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5Regime change in Iraq was mandated in 1998, how's that for a fact? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Liberation_Act
- noahhoward, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3That's a nice way of spinning 'support the removal of saddam hussein' especially considering Bill immediately ordered a bombing campaign.
- swrostmore, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5On the contrary, buddy, you're the one ignoring the news. The sale was of the last remnants of Saddam's 1970's nuke program, which was confirmed by the State Department to be the sole source of yellowcake in Iraq. The containers it was stored in were so old they were decaying. It was a waste byproduct of the program that Israel destroyed in 1981, and its sale and subsequent reports on it are concrete proof that Saddam had no capability and no intention to restart his programs.
