Indiana congresswoman Carson dies of lung cancer

cnn.com — Julia Carson, the first black & first woman to represent Indianapolis in Congress died at age 69 of lung cancer. First elected to Congress in 1996, she fought for children's issues, women's rights & efforts to reduce homelessness, as well as being an opponent of the war in Iraq. A special election will be called to elect a new representative.
