FYI: Georgia attacked Ossetia & Russia defended them, despite what US media says.
- DFutureIsNow, on 08/13/2008, -7/+30We all know John McCain is a creature that was born during the JURASSIC PERIOD. He knows nothing of the 21st century, like when Bush decided to say "Screw The UN" and invaded Iraq for no reason whatsoever other than to please his wealthy Big Oil friends.
- lystig, on 08/14/2008, -1/+21Yea, because the US only "liberates" countries right?
- seduirai, on 08/14/2008, -1/+19I heard him say this on POTUS today, and I thought he was kidding. Then I realized he's senile.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -2/+18"You know that old Beach Boy song Bomb Iran. Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."
-- John McCain - rvandy, on 08/14/2008, -3/+18I lol'd. I don't think McCain could be more out of touch if he was sealed inside an opaque bubble.
- PhilLesh69, on 08/14/2008, -3/+18OTHER nations do not invade other nations.
The US is in a unique position in history, and can create realities based on the needs of the ruling elite. (well, as long as the ruling elite is neoconservative.)

- tas08, on 08/14/2008, -0/+11no no no, the title of this post is a misquote! It should say "In the 21st century, IN EUROPE,...."
See, it's complete;y different!
geesh.
/s - fuzfoot, on 08/13/2008, -4/+15Really, Senator McCain? Do you even know what year it is, or where you are? Because you obviously have no clue what is going on in the world...
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+11> If we decide to annihilate California one day because it is full of liberals, should Mexicans come and rescue those liberal rats too?
Yes. Human rights > nations. - ZenMojo, on 08/14/2008, -0/+9"...in Europe."

- pintomp3, on 08/14/2008, -0/+9i thought your were being sarcastic until i saw your comment history. we invaded iraq in the 21st century. what were those good reasons again? wmds? links to al queda? it's easy to get popular support when you lie your ass off.
- beeblebrox, on 08/14/2008, -0/+8"McCain is talking about the 21st century, meaning NOW and the FUTURE. "
I see. So if John Edwards came out today and said, "Men of the 21st century do not cheat on their wives," you'd defend the hypocritical douche bag because clearly Edwards means, "Starting now, and not counting that time I did it." - ZenMojo, on 08/14/2008, -0/+8Don't forget...we have always been at war with EastAsia.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+8> Let's look into the future now, and free Georgia from those godless communists.
... so the Georgian president can freely kill those godless Ossetians. Do you and McCain realize how stupid you sound? - BrokenCircle, on 08/14/2008, -0/+7Empire –noun: A group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government: usually a territory of greater extent than a kingdom.
The Federal States of the Union

Canada. - Gerz1219, on 08/14/2008, -0/+7No, we bomb from a comfortable distance and then invade. There are American soldiers occupying Iraq and Afghanistan, therefore we invaded those countries. And it happened after 2001. McCain's statement is factually incorrect, which suggests that he either doesn't know the definition of the word "invade", or that he forgot the United States engaged in two twenty-first century invasions that he fervently supported. I'm leaning towards the latter.
- mrfreeziexp, on 08/14/2008, -1/+8"Bomb from a comfortable distance - YES"
It's only comfortable for people like John McCain. Our troops are out there face-to-face with constant danger. - ngmcs8203, on 08/14/2008, -0/+6I think you're partially right, "80%" of us supported a destruction of Bin Laden and his friends... in AFGHANISTAN. I don't think "80%" of us supported an invasion of a country on the premise that they had fictitious WMDs.

http://digg.com/world_news/The_Triumph_of_Putinism ... - zmjone2992, on 08/14/2008, -0/+5and no Georgia did not really "own" Ossetia. It was neutral, in fact it was occupied by Russian peacekeepers, who were promptly killed of course.
- ZenMojo, on 08/14/2008, -0/+5Click "reply". Or at least put @MonsieurStat over it
- zbor, on 08/14/2008, -1/+6For a balanced look that doesn't buy into either Russian or Georgian propaganda, take a look at (and digg up!) this article from Reason:

The Georgians shouldn't have invaded South Ossetia, and the Russians shouldn't have set a trap in the first place. Both sides are wrong. Diggers, get over your binary obsession and look a little deeper into the issue, please! - banderwocky, on 08/14/2008, -0/+4Oh Exxon John and your double talk express!
- stinkymonkey, on 08/14/2008, -2/+6I want to sit down with someone voting for this old fool and just say....."REALLY?????"

- Ugoff, on 08/14/2008, -1/+5"We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I took the fairy to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones." - Grandpa McCain
- Hangly, on 08/14/2008, -0/+4The US doesn't invade, it "liberates."
Right? - lex0nyc, on 08/14/2008, -2/+6The US and Russia. The cease fire was a ploy and they're still moving deeper into Georgia.
- zmjone2992, on 08/14/2008, -0/+4Go Orwell!
- PhilLesh69, on 08/14/2008, -0/+4Until at which point we were at war with Eurasia. Then, we had always been at war with Eurasia.
- ZenMojo, on 08/14/2008, -0/+4Guam? Puerto Rico?
- DylanClements, on 08/14/2008, -1/+5Wow! talk about out of touch with reality. What an ridiculous statement.
- hfactor, on 08/14/2008, -0/+3Your soul.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+4... unless the invading nation is the USA and there's oil or some other natural resource to plunder!
- Hangly, on 08/14/2008, -0/+3The worst part is that's a really really stupid and unfunny joke.
- LiberalKid, on 08/14/2008, -3/+6We hosted the Olympics after we invaded Afghanistan...
- LiberalKid, on 08/14/2008, -0/+3You're really dissing Puerto Rico man...
- dkapuchino, on 08/14/2008, -3/+6Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama put out a statement condemning Russia for their escalation of the conflict with Georgia. “No matter how this conflict started, Russia has escalated it well beyond the dispute over South Ossetia and invaded another country. Russia has escalated its military campaign through strategic bombing and the movement of its ground forces into the heart of Georgia. There is no possible justification for these attacks,” Obama said.
...
He referred to this as a turning point in U.S. –Russian relations, “The relationship between Russia and the West is long and complicated. There have been many turning points, for good and ill. This is another turning point. Let me be clear: we seek a future of cooperative engagement with the Russian government, and friendship with the Russian people. We want Russia to play its rightful role as a great nation - but with that role comes the responsibility to act as a force for progress in this new century, not regression to the conflicts of the past.” - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+4I have no words (other than these).
- CipherBlack, on 08/14/2008, -0/+3And to think I actually liked this guy 8 years ago...
