- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -14/+8Dr. King was an amazing speaker.
- davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4He had a dream alright, and that was to get me off school.
- Rezzy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+48I get the chills every time I listen to that. Amazing speaker.
- arbguy, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5whats so bad about communism? seems to me that capitalism is doing all the damage in the world today

Damn, I replied to the wrong thread, too. - sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14It's extremely rare to have the talent, intellect, charisma and passion to deliver such a stirring speech. Wish there were more people like MLK.
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3there are few things that can bring tears to my eyes.
MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech makes me tear up everytime.
the world would be very different if he hadn't of been killed. - yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2But I have a dreamsickle.
- Quidam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wish he was still alive...he'd make a good President.
and he's a hell of a lot better at making speeches than Bush
- Snoz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+27I have a dream that one day all the little boys and little girls of the digg community will be able to join computers and sing the words of the old digg spiritual:
Digg at last! Digg at last!
Thank God Almighty, we can digg at last!- sicc, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2lol
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I can guarantee you Diggers would never be thanking God..

- dwxpub, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Now that's comedy.
- LadyBeGood, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4MLK would be an anti-war conservative if he were alive today. He was all about helping oneself and ones neighbors; not waiting around for a government handout.
- blackmariah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You mean kinda like how he was an anti-war conservative when he was alive?

- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4In honor of Martin Luther King Day, I'm going to whore out his legendary speech for a frontpage
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8we studied this in public speaking class.
Not only was MLK a great speaker but the words of his speeches were awesome.
He laid symbolism on top of metaphors on top of beautiful imagery.
I particularly like this "bad check" analogy wherein he said that this great document we came up with that said all men are equal equates to a bounced check to the negro population of America.
Basically calling the lawmaker descendants of out founding fathers deadbeat check bouncers.
Awesome! - timothiuz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4boring
- Volatile314, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This makes me so sad... All these pretty words, and things still are all messed up when it comes to prejudice and racism.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Things would be much worse without people like MLK.
- ironbear, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Thank you.
- celijoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's called Presidents Day...to the best of my knowledge..placed there to honor both Abraham Lincoln's birthday and George Washington...
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No - we celebrate Bush on April 1st.
- cpuenvy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Ya, and here in New Hampshire, we used to have CIVIL RIGHTS DAY, until the blacks (and I have no idea where they came from) made some assholes in the Capitol feel some good ol white guilt. I am tired of this *****. We had Civil Rights Day, and that was great. Now, instead of honoring all civil rights people, we have to pretend that this ***** was something great and everyone else was not.
- dave932932, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is a nice submission - like something about Jesus instead of anti-Sony articles on Christmas Day.
- CarolinaHeel23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The most sordid charges about MLK's sex life, this one included, come from the FBI and can't necessarily be trusted. But there's no doubt about what one biographer calls King's "compulsive sexual athleticism." King's attitude toward women was chauvinist and often exploitative. In his 1989 autobiography, And the Walls Came Tumbling Down, King's close friend and fellow civil rights leader Ralph Abernathy writes that on the night before he died, King gave a rousing speech, had dinner with a woman afterward and remained with her till 1 AM, then came back to his motel to spend the night with a second woman. In the early morning hours a third woman came looking for King and became angry when she found the bed in the room he shared with Abernathy unoccupied. When King reappeared, he argued with woman #3 and wound up knocking her across the bed.
- Ogopogo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1MLK was a horrible excuse for a national holiday. Check out http://www.conspiracypenpal.com/columns/mlk2.htm
- AminoSC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I wish he was still here so he could talk to all the young black men who are responsible for AT LEAST 95% of ALL crime in my city.
RIP MLK.- erikf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3MLK would be ashamed of his people today. They exploited his great dream of equality and turned it into a demand for special treatment and self-entitlement.
- erikf, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Ironic how we celebrate a black leader by not going to school for the day or getting paid to stay home and not work.
- Cleotis, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Ha! The diggtards get all bent out of shape when someone points out the incontrovertible fact that King was a communist. Now that's good clean fun right there!
- freff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I take it you didn't bother to read my earlier post. Or if you did, you don't have the mental ability to wrap your mind around what he was saying. And for that, I'm truly sorry.
Diggtard...clever that one is. Immature and snide insults go a long way towards making a coherent point.
/sarc - Cleotis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Lighten up diggtard. Besides, I wasn't aware that I was obligated to read your earlier post. Is it some kind of politically correct touchy-feely dissertation on reasons why you refuse to believe that King was a Communist or something?
- mastershake1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3AND THEREFORE NOTHING KING DIG WAS WORTHWHILE!!1!
Or not. Quit feigning outrage. I love the whole "he was a communist" slur. People bring it up because they hate the civil rights movement and want to return back to "segregation now, segregation forever." - brokekneck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ mastershake1
What the ***** are you talking about? Do you usally just go assume *****? What you just said has racist overtones. Isn't that what MLK tried to break free from?
- freff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I take it you didn't bother to read my earlier post. Or if you did, you don't have the mental ability to wrap your mind around what he was saying. And for that, I'm truly sorry.
- starguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Much better than the cliche "I have a Dream" speach were his "Vietnam speach", which is very hard to find a copy. He really tore into the establishment. You can download the whole thing in its entirety inside an OutThereRadio ( http://outthereradio.net ) show podcast which discuss the conspiracy around his assasination. His Vietnam speach is a MUST LISTEN and awesome rhethoric speaking.

http://www.uga.edu/wuog/podcasts/outthere29.mp3 - mirathi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1what, nothing about Robert E. Lee's birthday?
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For anyone interested in the topic and wants to read a great book that covers his speech in detail check out "The Dream: Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Speech That Inspired a Nation" by Drew D. Hansen.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So wait, MLK was a commie and cheated on his wife?! HOLY *****! That means that the simple idea he had that all people are the same and that the color of our skin means ***** is wrong?!/sarcasam
For every one of you that claim his words arent important because of his failings I have a few questions. Have you lived a perfect life? Have you never done something that the general populace would find wrong? What have you done to better the lives of your fellow man?- Ogopogo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A lot of MLK's 'words' aren't his. MLK plagiarized much of his speeches. MLK's handler was the jew-commie Stanley Levison. Check out: http://www.conspiracypenpal.com/columns/mlk2.htm

- Holyfool19, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dream on Marty. The world is harsh.
- Spartandog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That speech is still stirring after all these years. From the looks of all these comments, the "dream" is taking a very long time to unfold. With all the media spin doctors and internet armchair mouse potatoes these days, it would be impossible for someone like MLK to inspire a nation and make a major change like he did. How many of you would march on Washington today to make a change? How many would rather watch the event on television or get the info on Digg? When was the last time that many people were allowed to make a peaceful protest - to make a change for the good of the nation? I'm going to sound old here, but I miss the days when the voice of the people mattered.
- cr4ft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's the actual video via YouTube ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAKnMLPus1M
- Halvy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Tooo long.. /didn't read.. (or listen to).
Anyone that gets all warm and fuzzy about some time in the future when white girls are holding hands with black boys.. is a 'stupid *****'.- freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The worst thing in this entire thread is that you've had people digg you up for that statement. Real debate is cool, and can is a good thing, regardless of how poorly thought out. Racist trolling is another thing all together.
- shaunnol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0People like you are no different than the caricatured "*****" you love to attack. All you do is use minorities as an excuse for problems in your life, just as some black people "blame whitey". It's time people like you started taking responsibility in life.
- seifist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I see this speech I wonder, where have all the great leaders gone?
- 40ozforever, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1*****, that dead *****
- Quidam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1shut up
- xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some of you guys are sad, I mean, I can't believe people like you still exist Darwin Awards anyone?
- shaunnol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@ davidsmero
I'd think that he would be ashamed to see what this holiday has become. Everyone should be working and going to school together on this day, that would be living out his dream. - mthanded, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The ignorance of some of you diggers is amazing to say the least. I will leave it at that.
