- beerncheese, on 07/24/2008, -2/+46Didn't Rove commit treason in the Valerie Plame fiasco? Why isn't he behind bars yet?
- damndj, on 07/24/2008, -6/+28Hopefully when Sheriff Obama comes to town, he'll decide to take out the trash.
- Olfster, on 07/25/2008, -2/+19Can't wait to see this cockroach indicted.
- pittpat, on 07/25/2008, -4/+14This entire case is absurd! Living in Alabama I saw the details every night. Richard Scrushy who was the founder of HealthSouth (a global health care company based in Birmingham, Alabama) donated $500,000 to Don's campaign to get a state lottery passed. The govt said that in return, Siegelman gave Scrushy a seat on a state hospital regulatory board. On the cover this could be considered bribery, but the two had been friends for YEARS! So, if a governor giving a friend of his a position on a state board is illegal, then we need to line up every person that has ever been governor in EVERY state for the last 50 years and prosecute them.
While we're at it, let's throw Bush in the mix, since his entire staff is filled with cronies! - mystcnurse, on 07/25/2008, -6/+15I wouldn't hold my breath.
- sultanica, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9lynch the prick
- sultanica, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8he's due for a good old fashioned lynching
- shannobn, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9A cyclist needs to stop this man!
- evilregis, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9Can anyone explain to me how one can ignore a subpoena to testify as he has? I don't get it. I thought your two choices when subpoenaed were to comply or be charged with contempt. No? I'm not an American so I don't know how it's all working down and I'm completely baffled.
- humptyz, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9Why is Karl Rove still walking around and not in jail? He can send a committee member a letter but can't appear in person before the committee and testify, even when ordered to? What kind of country is this that this man can ignore a Congressional subpoena and not be punished!?
- Animental, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5"A BLACK sheriff?"
- person425, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6Patience. We need to wait until bush is out of office, or else Rove will walk.
- Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5People like Bush and Rove are above the law. It's people like us (the Serfs) who are bound by their ever-changing and freedom-restricting tentacles.
- OliveStreet, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Treason is an offense punishable by death.
I'm just saying ...... - DaDrake, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3They don't... its an "investigation". Its based on simpson testimony that she heard someone talk to Rove about removing Siegelman. Problem is, before Simpson made that testimony, she made numerous TV appearances where she said she MET and TALKED to Rove. So what we know is she lied... numerous times.... about Rove involvement.
And even if Rove outed a corrupt politician..... doesn't he deserve a medal? - vexingmodstwo, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4We'll see if he did. In order for him to have incriminated himself, the committee would have to have evidence to the contrary. I'm betting they don't have that evidence.
- swrostmore, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5On the contrary, there are phone records.
- zeusthemoose, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5Why put him behind bars when Bush would just pardon him? As long as there are no charges, there is nothing to pardon.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4And repeating the words of one of the most unethical men in right wing politics as though that constitutes the truth is beyond idiotic, approaching retarded.
It's ASTOUNDING how many people take the word of a lying scumbag over anyone else.
You guys KNOW he's a liar, you know he's a scumbag, that's his whole shtick. - normalkid0615, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4I have a better idea...
Make everybody who cast a vote for George Bush in 2000 and 2004 get a penalty tax and make THEM pay for the War (Iraq), Housing Crisis, FEMA mismanagement, No Child Left Behind, cause its ALL YOUR FAULT!!! - blahhhhhh, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3It would be better to wait until Bush's term is over to put his @ss in jail, so Bush can't pardon him.
- helleborus, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3"I know! I'll amp up my credibility with a well placed REO Speedwagon quote!"
- djholybolt, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2*squirts hair gel in hand and corrects overcomb*
I AM ABOVE THA LAW!! - djholybolt, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2he most certainly did. He even had the big foamy 'oj's #1' hand.
I saw his car too.. had a bumper sticker that said 'I golf with Rove and Cheney' - TheHerk, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4It sounds like you are defending breaking the law because "Everybody's doing it." Nice!
Actually that is exactly what we should do. Prosecute these people for abusing the system. Especially Karl Rove. He is slime that thinks he is above you and me. - 55mph, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Arrest this MF!! Imagine how long you would be out of jail before being arrested for refusing to testify under oath.
Bail should be $500 mil. Rove is a flight risk. I hear he's headed to the UAE moments after Bush leaves office. - DooM, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The president actually has the power to pre-emptively pardon him if he so wishes. It's only been done by two presidents but he CAN actually do it.
- beachsouthpaw, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The next time some stupid court gives me a subpeona to show up, I'm just gonna write a letter to the judge and be like
"My bad your honor. I didn't have nothing to do with this *****, and I'm innocent. Thanks."
Thank you Karl Rove for making contempt possible for all of us. - Smokeydabear, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3Anyone else in the world would have had to stand tall before the man.
- vexingmodstwo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Please do. The fewer of you idiots on the streets, the better.
- booyahbitch, on 07/25/2008, -3/+4So...if I blow up a car in front of some very important building and deny it, then I am innocent? Is that how it works? Rove needs to have his ass handed to him over all his power plays and improprieties while in the White House. He is one of the major reasons this country is in such a state right now.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2So you take the word of Rove, known over the world as a scumbag who will do anything to win, over everyone else involved?
You side with the liar and cheat?
If they are telling the truth why are they doing everything they can to avoid going under oath?
That's not how honest people behave, nor is it how innocent people behave.
Did you cheer for OJ, too? - Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2Prosecute the entire state of Connecticut for giving us George Bush ,George W Bush, Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman.
- krnldmp, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3There are so many extremely difficult problems to solve in the world today. I am keenly interested in having this ***** quickly burnt to the fullest extent allowed by law so we can get him out of the news and focus on improvement rather than maintenance.
- ImperialRome, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Actually, there are no phone records. Jill Simpson claims to be party after the fact to a phone call where Rob Riley, son of the Governor, spoke to a "Karl" about the case. That is not the same as "phone records".
- pittpat, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I don't see how appointing one of your long time friends to a state board (of which happens to be their expertise) a crime! Irresponsible, maybe. Illegal, No!
- ImperialRome, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1If you blow up a car and deny it, but someone CLAIMS it really was you on the phone giving them instructions of where and when to do the job, does that make you guilty? Facts have to be corroborated. Or is it a case of Rove is automatically guilty because you want him to be?
Somehow I think its the latter. - okaroleo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1i was thinking public gutting... Braveheart style.
- ImperialRome, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1You cannot send someone to jail for contempt of congress.
Two, you cannot ignore a subpeona from a court of jurisdiction, because that court has power over you. That court derives its power from the State government, which you are a citizen of.
If the charges are so strong, then refer them to a US Attorney, or call for an Independant Counsel to conduct the investigation and gran jury. Remember Patrick Fitzgerald?
Or are you afraid that the charges might not stand up to scrutiny and that a gran jury might not indict him after all? - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Rove has probably already committed perjury in his unethical life, and if they get him under oath he'll commit perjury this year.
Sexual assault claims?
What about Laura Bush killing her high school boyfriend?
And Bush murdering that woman who was going to tell about how he forced her to get an abortion?
What about lying to America to start a war?
Really, you think harassing a few women is worse?
I guess that's what makes you a dumbass. - wangalicious, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1You're gonna be waiting a while.
- Logisti, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Technically it isn't treason if the President declassifies the information before it is released. Of course, it probably SHOULD be a crime of some sort, considering they didn't bother to tell the undercover CIA officer whose identity they were declassifying.
- duckley, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2Karl Rove is known, even to REPUBLICAN SCUMBAGS, as "Turd Blossom".
That's right, Republicans Love Rove and the vicious, evil LIES he tells (for money).
Rove should be prosecuted individually for each of the 1,000 crimes he has committed, convicted and sent to prison for Sequential prison terms totalling 100,000 years.
And Cheney and Bush with him. - Needtoknow, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Don't forget to sign the petition to send Rove to jail for contempt of Congress. Go to sendkarlrovetojail.com at BraveNewFilms.org
- malex, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2He said the Sheriff is near!
- pleasegetaclue, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2I think Rove should run for president. If he can now just commit perjury, and sexually assault a few women he is sure to get the Democratic vote. It worked for Bill Clinton.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1Seems like Rove is running the show. But that’s not difficult when you are dealing with a bunch of ***** Demotards………
- DaDrake, on 07/25/2008, -6/+3Really I am sick and tired of this. The fact is, Siegelman was corrupt (and nobody seems to dispute this). So a corrupt guy gets outed (and charged... and convicted) ... the democrats try to go out after who outed him? First, if Rove did out him, he deserves a medal more then anything. I don't care if you are republican, democratic, libertarian, or whatever... one less corrupt politician is GOOD for the USA.
And this all goes back to Simpson, who said she talked to Rove about "taking down" Siegelman. First, she made multiple media appearances saying what Rove was looking for. Problem is, the reasons changed (went from finding adultery, to bribes, to financial, etc). Then she testifies and said SHE NEVER MET Rove and heard SOMEONE ELSE talking to Rove over the phone. So right now, I know she lied and she has no credibility. I really don't get why this is even an issue.
Congress wonders why there approval ratings are so low... this is why. - ImperialRome, on 07/24/2008, -14/+5B.S.
One, Rove did "address the issue" of contacting non-government officials, saying "nor have I asked any other individual to communicate about these matters on my behalf." So Don Abrams is talking out of his ass on that one.
Two, Dana Jill Simpson is no "republican lawyer" . At most she is a campaign volunteer for the locals, but there are no records of her ever working for the GOP. No paychecks. No campaign records. Nothing.
Three, Karl Rove addressed these claims before, after the 60 minutes stories. So did Eddie Curran, the reporter in Mobile who did most of the press work about the Siegelman administration and is now writing a book about the case. If you happen to read their rebuttals to these claims, you start to see the holes in the story.
I know the neighborhood, and talk is cheap when the story is good, and the tales grow taller on down the line.....
