- jasontromm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It has nothing to do with Republicans vs. Democrats. Neither party wants to do anything about the illegal immigrant issue.
- americaindanger, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Kyle,
I wouldn't speak so loudly, since your icon displays the Union Jack, the majority of those "illegals" you speak of came from Britain.
Also, those laws were nonexistant at the time and I'm not justifying what happened to the Native Americans (being of descent of some). We can't help what happened in the past, but we can certainly do something to prevent any further damage by having the US government enforce the laws on our books regarding illegal immigration.
I suggest you speak for your own country next time. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6ratios.
A white male is 10 times more likely to be killed by a black male than another white male.
Look it up. States are all over gov sites.
or maybe http://*****.com/ - lccat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Until the ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS are held accountable with monetary fines and/or felony jail time their ILLEGALS will continue to cross our unsecured National Borders and the political "contributions" will be received by "politicians" from all parties. Just follow the money, ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS donate to both parties and some politicians even benefit directly from their own ILLEGALS. As long as the ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS do not have to furnish benefits for their ILLEGALS and the citizen TAX PAYERS are forced to furnish the benefits(health care, suffocating education system, social security, etc, etc, etc) the ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS will continue their political "contributions".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Iccat, you hit the nail right on the head.
I believe that the way to get rid of the ILLEGAL Alien problem is to remove the jobs they seek. They will leave and never return as long as we remove their reason for coming to America. - americaindanger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Stating that the country is improved upon by immigration, I think is incorrect. Countries are improved upon by a free people, who aren't burdened by over-regulation on every aspect of their lives. Innovation and invention helps improve quality of life and the people progress. It's not constant immigration.
I agree that employers should be fined and penalized for hiring illegals and many cities on the local level are starting to take up the matter without waiting for the federal government to do it, as the Feds are not even enforcing existing laws.
But the aliens themselves need to be addressed, as well. If local law enforcement, preferably with the help of ICE, would be able to report illegals immigrants, then they could be deported back to the country of origin. There, they can do what they can to improve their own country, so that they wouldn't have had to leave in the first place. I'd rather see the illegals go back and make their country of origin better for them and future generations who live there.
In regards to your perspective, your profile doesn't say how long you've been there. I'm not sure what part of the US you came from, but in my state rapes, and drunk-driving incidents caused by illegals are sharply rising. Illegal immigration in the the UK, I'm sure isn't improving that country either. So unless you've just moved and had experienced what's going on here from firsthand accounts of people affected, then your perspective is quite limited. And frankly it's irrelevant to the article. By bringing up the atrocities done to the Native Americans does nothing to solve the current problems of illegal immigration.
Overuse of resources and infrastructure, services being freely given at the cost of me, the taxpayer, which results in me not being able to take care of my family isn't a way of immigration improving a country. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6In the population study of a sample of 55,322 illegal aliens, researchers found that they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than 1 arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990.
They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses.

Sources: Government Accounting Office, US Department of Justice, National Security Institute - spdracerx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9I question the legitimacy of these numbers. The article even admits that no statistics are kept on the subject, and that the figures are an estimate from a Republican congressman.
- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12Actually, if you had delved into my profile, you would have found a bit more out about me. I am Native American by heritage, and an American citizen by birth. I have since moved to the UK, so suffice to say I have a rather unique perspective on this topic.
Now, about non-existant laws; do you think America would have turned out better if the Native Americans had been as walled-in as some Americans wish to be? The country was based on, and improved by, constant immigration.
The laws on illegral immigration in America badly need to be revamped. The number one problem to be addressed is not the aliens themselves, but the Americans who illegally employ them. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@ KyleRayner
farther down you say,
"I am Native American by heritage"
So am I, but that doesn't give me any more of a "unique" perspecitve on something that happened to my people 100s of years ago. It is more personal.
You cite Karma? Seriously? There has been racial war since the dawn of man. We just happened to get the short end of the stick on this one-- this recent one. Don't act like it is new or special. Yes, this was "our land" and it wasn't our land when I was born.
Pardon me, but I'm tired of people using my people's past plain chat fodder. This isn't a "number to be impressed with" - it is more than just a number - but I have a feeling if you had that # you seek, you would use it in the same way.
@ Thinkbox
"These numbers don't do anything."
Thanks for understanding. I don't want the deaths of my people to be just a number that "makes ya think" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+795% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

- jasontromm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So why didn't the illegal immigration issue factor into the mid-term elections?
- hipnerd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Because the big businesses that contribute to Republicans need illegals for cheap labor, and the bleeding heart Democrat base does not like seeing poor people who want to work penalized because of their race or immigration status.
It's a lose-lose proposition for either party, so they generally leave it alone. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4--on a more serious note...
@ KyleRayner
"Now THATS a number Id be impressed with."
How about we find out how many people died in wars over all time?
How about we find out how many people died over religious wars?
How about we find out how many people died from starvation due to drug lords?
These numbers don't do anything. Throwing up all these old stats to remind us all that "death isn't a new concept" accomplishes nothing. The irradiation of peoples isn't a good thing, but it wasn't a new concept with the American Indians. I'm not trying to be insensitive, just trying to say that killing natives wasn't invented when the evil Americans decided that beads were too expensive for land and promptly taught the American Indians the current world view on property expansion.
KyleRayner, your icon is of the British flag.... do you want to go into the colonization horrors that your country committed?
The point is - people die all over. Saying it happened in the past isn't a point and it doesn't "make ya think" -- its just pretty ***** obvious and pretty ***** off topic. I'd like to see that argument used in a formal debate. You'd get slaughtered. Nobody alive now was alive then, period. Your guilt on a message board doesn't make me want to pick up trash off the road so that Indian in the commercial doesn't cry -- it just makes me feel complacent about the current deaths. - kooft, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Yeah, I'd like to see some sources on these statistics. The article links to another story on the same site, which states:
"Though no government agency in the U.S. – not the FBI nor Immigration and Customs Enforcement – tracks violent crimes by illegal aliens..."
They then link to Congressman Steve King's website, which does include these statistics (though no sources):
"The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals."
For some reason the article doesn't include the 13 Americans killed per day due to drunk driving by uninsured illegals (are there insured legals?). If they did, the number of dead since 9/11 would be 47,600 (25 killed per day * 1904 days since 9/11/01). This strikes me as odd, why not include the more inflammatory numbers to help drive home your point? Perhaps the data was cherry-picked?
I'd like to see corresponding ratios for legal aliens and naturalized citizens. Would the statistics show that the ratio of Americans killed by other Americans is higher than that of illegals? Sure would be interesting to know... - KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -18/+19Quick, somebody Google up how many Native Americans were killed by "illegal aliens." Now THATS a number Id be impressed with.
Seriously, karma. - americaindanger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I think it didn't factor in that much for much the same reason your reply to spdracerx. Neither party is willing to do anything about it, because they and their cohorts corporate America benefit from it.
- nfulton, on 10/12/2007, -11/+10Let's also count how many undocumented american residents were killed by US citizens for no good reason at all. That's a much larger number than 12 a day I'll bet.
And I wonder how many US Soldiers currently killing in Iraq have Iraqi visas. Bet we seem like "illegal aliens" to many Iraqi's. Bet they wish we'd stop killing them. All in all, I bet most people on the planet earth wish we'd stop killing people all the darned time. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"There is absolutely nothing legitimately backing these numbers up, they're just pulled from someone's ass!"
What did you expect? The story is from World Net Daily. These guys are so dumb they actually think that intelligent design is a totally credible, completely scientific theory: http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49431 - CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Um, what the *****? There is absolutely nothing legitimately backing these numbers up, they're just pulled from someone's ass! Estimates, especially when coming from politicians, are just guesses at best, at worst they are just made up lies.
Furthermore, how many Americans are killed every day by legal citizens? Under what circumstances are these legal citizens killed by the illegals? Is it in self-defense? Cold-blooded murder? What? They are counting illegals in prison for murder? Does anyone in the US have a clue how many illegals and minorities in general are wrongfully accused and thrown in jail in this country?
Their reasoning in this instance is irrational and irresponsible. Now we're going to start telling our kids lies about how illegal immigrants are all murderers who need to be deported before they kill more Americans? Give me a ***** break! I'm not going to say where I stand on the issue, but it just doesn't matter. Either way this is totally asinine. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3How long until the government starts telling us the truth about those flying saucers!!!
====>The Truth is out there.... and its killing 12 of us a day!!
...oh wait... - sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Exactly. it's always the minority that wears the "illegal alien" or "terrorist" badge.
- imitrust, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I'm sure more Americans kill Americans than that. If the illegals became citizens then that would really ramp up the numbers.
- hipnerd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4You've linked to a post in a discussion forum, that uses another post in a discussion forum as a source. I would like to see the original "FBI" report, which I believe doesn't exist.
Most of the "facts" appear to be taken from Congressional testimony by Heather MacDonald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, a highly biased conservative think tank. (They want to privatize sanitation. Great idea.) Ms. MacDonald did not give sources for many of her facts, and the sources she did give were not the FBI.
