- kyleain, on 03/28/2008, -17/+11If only Ron Paul were governor of California on top of it. I hope I can move back to Cali now that I've head this news. Hopefully Cali will secede if the Federals don't stop bullying people there.
- duggtodeath, on 03/28/2008, -2/+6According to Escape from LA, "The Big One" will physically separate Cali from the Union.
- bethlagarrison, on 03/29/2008, -3/+10Sorry, all I heard was "If only Ron Paul blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah"
- yosempai, on 03/29/2008, -2/+2Interesting! I heard something similar...only it was more like "If only Ron Paul bury bury bury bury bury bury..."
- onetimer, on 03/29/2008, -0/+8Why would California elect a governor that supports anti-sodomy laws?
- yrro9, on 03/29/2008, -1/+1Way to go getting the article buried, I am a supporter of Ron Paul, but articles with pro-Paul comments tend to never see the light of day.
- sofie8, on 03/28/2008, -1/+26a triumph for state law
- sockpuppets, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Federal laws are vastly superior.
for me to poop on!- yosempai, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2You had me worried there for awhile.
- delmar14, on 03/29/2008, -1/+3Hopefully this will open the door for more states to start exercising their sovereignty. The only original purpose of the federal government was to keep commerce flowing freely between the states and to prevent the states from going to war against each other.
- sockpuppets, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Federal laws are vastly superior.
- neocognitism, on 03/28/2008, -12/+3This isn't really news for medical marijuana in CA, because the only people busting them has been the DEA, and the only venue prosecuting them has been Federal.
- Phrag, on 03/28/2008, -1/+10Not true. There have been several cases where local law enforcement helped the DEA with the raid or went in by themselves.
http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/456/more_medic ...- neocognitism, on 03/29/2008, -4/+2hmm I didn't know that, I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.
Why would they though? State law says it's legal!
- neocognitism, on 03/29/2008, -4/+2hmm I didn't know that, I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.

- Adrian540, on 03/28/2008, -3/+29Obligatory ***** the DEA post.
Seriously, ***** them.- yrro9, on 03/28/2008, -9/+1***** them with chainsaw up the ass
- BrapAllgood, on 03/28/2008, -1/+8Easy there, Leatherface.
- yrro9, on 03/28/2008, -9/+1***** them with chainsaw up the ass
- StickyStar, on 03/28/2008, -2/+15Well this can actually help toward the movement to stop the DEA raids. Because before this ruling, it was still a conflict. Now it is Set.
- yrro9, on 03/28/2008, -1/+20Yay for california, refusing to be bullied
- zephyr42, on 03/28/2008, -2/+1*****
- bcuban, on 03/28/2008, -2/+4 People supplying it and people using it will still be subject to federal arrest and seizure as they were before. It will be a question of the agressivness of federal enforcement. Dont forget that in 2005 the Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Govt can prosecute regardless of state law.
- Phrag, on 03/28/2008, -0/+5At least now the feds have to do it themselves without the help from local law enforcement that they had before.
- Phrag, on 03/28/2008, -0/+17Now if we could get the Supreme Court to go back to the literal interpretation of the federal commerce clause, then the states could actually enjoy their constitutionally appointed rights.
- accountstube, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Agreed.
- Heysal, on 03/28/2008, -3/+4I think it is time for each state to sucede from the US union and start their own. Leave the entire corrupt federal gov (i.e. corporation) all alone on it's own. If we all pulled out on Bush/Cheney and friends, someone would step in an massacre the lot of them. As it is, WE are the supporters of terrorism.
- Dumbledorito, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2While I think there needs to be more independence in some states, keep in mind "States Rights" can swing in two directions. And some of those directions could compromise travel across the nation as well as legalities in various states. Interstate roads are nice for commerce and require cooperation, as does recognition of marriages, transferral of records, etc.
All I'm saying is think through radical ideas before lowering the hammer.

- zephyr42, on 03/28/2008, -4/+1This is the first time I can say *I wish I lived in California*
- Dumbledorito, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2Makes sense. California already has a couple of marijuana vending machines: http://www.boingboing.net/2008/01/25/marijuana-ven ...
Would it be evil to put candy machines next to them? And put them both in front of a Pizza Hut?
