- brianbb98, on 10/19/2007, -3/+175I think we need a national day of mourning if this man becomes president...
- GreySpec, on 10/10/2007, -2/+962 is forgivable, 40+ times is inadmissible!
WTF is wrong with this ass clown? Somebody anybody? - Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -1/+90It's a galling stunt. He can't even pull it off realistically. He's like the clown that keeps doing the linking rings trick year after year...
- eunichs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+56Put Rudy on Rails and send him on his way.
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -1/+52How about presidential candidates who put us on with fake theatrics? Should we scrutinize them?
- peterinjapan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+50My stepmother, who lives in New York, says "I know too much about Rudy Guilani to ever vote for him."
Sound advice. - heystoopid, on 10/17/2007, -0/+42It may be inconclusive and based on very flimsy evidence of one sample only , but on the last video link , prior to the call the audience was in a "tar and feather discordant abusive mode " and some members were actively booing him prior to the call , trying to force him to raise his voice or shout to be heard.
When the cell phone rang he hushed the audience so he could listen and after that he had their quiet but full direct attention to what he was saying .
So the whole thing of the ringing cell phone is a form of psychological warfare sympathy scam , allowing the speaker to shut the discordant negative voice down , peacefully without shouting , turning the volume up to drown out the background noise or losing your cool as the hecklers want you to do ! Thus allowing the speaker to control the forum on his own terms and replace it with one where the audience is now focusing on listening rather then protesting !
It would be interesting to see a video mix of three to five in sequence , so you can see the effect more clearly and listen to the change of tone of the audience as they fail to realize he has pwnd them in a very subtle manner !
So here is a simple challenge to the video mixers on YouTube , thus mix several videos in sequence where he has pulled this stunt and post the link ?
But then again , I expect to be ridiculed for this untested possible theory as to why he does it so ! - meepus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+39You have to be kidding us. What's Roodles' personal life have to do with any of this? His wife is apparently making these calls during important public events, and he's apparently leaving his cell on during these important public events. We're not talking about things that take place in private here: we're talking about things that are witnessed by thousands if not millions of people.
- batshitcrazy, on 10/17/2007, -5/+38***** guliani
- ayeroxor, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35NINE ELEVEN!
- Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -2/+32Given that the precident was firmly cemented even before Hillary became first lady, it would seem odd that this is the first time it's offended you.
You might be able to argue they aren't fair game if they stay out of the limelight. The second they get used as a tool of the campaign, all bets are off, and rightly so. - armbar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30Make it a half-decade and I'll be there.
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Kucinich's wife is hot. I'd like to "scrutinize" that.
- DesertDude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24And yet he leads in Republican nominee polls among people. You people are so screwed.
- archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25This is quite frankly, just weird. If it is a stunt what is the point? To show his wife is a stronger person than him? How is that possibly helpful? If she really does make him answer the phone during speeches this man does not have what it takes to be president.
Not that I'd vote for him anyways. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -3/+24Listen, I hate Rudy like any other man, and it certainly seems obvious that his cell phone stunt was just that, a stunt. But if he's done it forty times then you have to wonder if it's a legit thing and his wife is clingy; and who could blame her, I mean she probably only calls every 20 minutes in fear of being divorced every 30 minutes.
The other possibility is that he's an arrogant, totalitarian, ignorant prick who sets up incredibly disingenuous phone calls with his wife wherever there's a crowd.
Yeah, it's the latter. - meepus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22If Roodles is elected president, we're going to need a hell of a lot more than that.
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Ghouliani must have some kind of OCD - he just repeats things over and over.
- johndi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21It's just plain rude, on both of their parts. His wife should know his schedule, and his phone should be off. If an emergency should happen she should call one of his aides who can discreetly inform him of it. The worst part is that according to Rudy it the calls aren't important, just pillow talk. Maybe the real reason is the one he stated, basically that he is paralyzed with the fear of a third divorce. He does this to his supporters and even his friends. Would he do this to a foreign head of state?
He is running to be a public servant, and he is clearly showing that he doesn't care about the public. By the way, this is a conservative paper that is blasting him. When will people take notice Rudy only cares about Rudy. - JordanM85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Shouldn't she have been calling to confirm she is safe before 911 too? Planes didn't just start crashing 6 years ago...
- brufleth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18It is a steaming pile of ***** is what it is. The man has been divorced multiple times. He's trying to play up that he's a big family man now who puts family first to counter the negative. If you're running for the "family values" party and you can't even build a stable marriage it doesn't look so hot.
- Winston84, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19What a nice diversion this is .. everybody talking about some phone-calls,
no-one talking about what a crypto-fascist "Mr.911" is .. - brufleth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I don't need to live in NYC to know too much to vote for him.
- archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Expecting an answer during a speech you know is taking place does make you sound pretty crazy. I want to elect the person who decides, if it is her, she should run instead. Fair game.
- Fordi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Damn you!
I can't use RoR without thinking about that pun EVER AGAIN. - octophobic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14If you're leaving the room during a fund raising dinner it's not a stunt. If you work it into an ongoing speech with a joke about "being at work" or something then it's definitely a stunt.
- MadKennyP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I don't have the experience of Guiliani (I'm still married to my first wife), but I can GUARANTEE you that when my wife knows I have an important event, she does not try to call my cell phone AND I know enough to turn it off if I attend an important event.
- ayeroxor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15"We people are so screwed."
Fixed that for all of America. - justice7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12if you Americans vote him in; I'm sorry but all hope is lost for you. We tried.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/ -- Canadian immigration website - archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12He could be the most powerful man in the world and he has to answer his cell phone during extremely important events? I dunno, that seems important to me.
- bshock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Why are we even talking about Giuliani as a viable candidate? Aside from not being terribly bright (hardly an impediment to Republican presidential candidacy, it seems), he's a demonstrated liar and inexperienced in almost everything but running one city.
Oh, wait, I forgot -- it goes against the egalitarian nature of this country to demand that high officials have actual qualifications. - Waiting2awake, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11It's amazing isn't it? Two wars, mountains of debt for your grandkids, illegal Iraq invasion, 3000+ American soldiers killed, countless injured - all for lies - and this cheerleader was helping it along, then profited from it, then tried to run an election on it....
and you are worried about unfair treatment? It is amazing 30%'rs just don't implode with the hypocrisy
Let me ask you a question. How many meetings would you have with someone that continuously interupted the meetings for phone calls? It is distasteful, rude and ignorant. It wouldn't be put up with from middle management - and it sure as ***** shouldn't be tolerated by a potential President candidate.
. - decompyler, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11If this snake becomes president, there is need for a lot more than mourning. It's time to get medieval on these gangsters. Pitchforks and torches, anyone?
- sremick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You keep using that phrase. I don't think it means what you think it means.

- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12are you a guilliani campaign staffer? how much do they pay you to try and put a positive spin on all his bad publicity on the internet? if your idiotic comments throughout this thread didnt give you away saying you support McCain definitely did.
- breich, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8If Rudy gets elected it's going to be like 9/11 times a thousand...
That's right, NINE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN THOUSAND. - JlmAWP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I'll go one further and say "We, the people, are so screwed."
- nnparticle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Dugg for a knock on Ghoulani AND a reference to RoR in 10 words or less.

Im by no means an audio expert, but the simple fact that when he asks his wife to say hello to crowd he holds the mic of the cell phone up to the mic on the podium shows his lack of common sense... - Azriel7, on 10/10/2007, -2/+89-1-1!
- matrox212, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Doesn't bode too well for them does it? What kind of husband would ever let his wife go on a trip without at least saying "I love you" before she left?" No wonder he's been divorced so many times. It took 9/11 to get him to take 2 minutes to call his wife before going on a trip.
- ashkendo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's probably just a planned ploy to show the crowd how he is such a "family man". That has always been a core point to most Republicans.
- martian, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I would bet dimes to dollars that there's no one actually on that phone.
- chunkylimey, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11The personal lives of candidates ARE important. However their sex lives are not. The fact Reagan was getting advice from his crazy wifes astrologer is an issue, the fact that Hillary was as much a partner in the political process for Bill Clinton as any other adviser is important. Americans struggle over confusing relationships that are important and peoples sex lives mainly because there are so many of them caught up in that sick and twisted cult of Christianity. Poor Larry Craig got screwed by his own politics (or is it buggered?) when if his moronic party had focused on real issues and not persecuting homosexuals he could have been a much happier and successful man. Sadly like every Republican male he's just a repressed pervert. So Who Rudy is being bossed around by is important, who he's sleeping with is not.
- Fordi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5That look you're getting means, 'Hey, great idea. Why aren't you implementing it again?'
- shadowspawn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4the next flashmob (i think) is going to be a mass exodus of people at one of his next speeches, and everyone's cell phone will be going off at once. at least a friend who runs a VOIP service said he was inquired about how to handle 300 calls within 10 seconds after getting a SMS requesting it, the call being athe live feed (claiming hearing impaired or not able to hear him? something like that?) and he asked why.
I'm bringing my camcorder for that one. -
