See "America Freedom to Fascism Authorized version" - Dested, on 10/12/2007, -16/+8Your argument is retarded. The IRS collects back taxes from deadbeat Americans that usually do it in some sort of a scam to ***** the IRS over, and it doesn't work out. Your saying that you should not have to pay taxes to live in this country, and I say gtfo.
- baxtermadux, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2I watched "Freedom to Fascism" and it is unwatchable garbage. The movie is so ***** that it distracts from the point it is trying to make. Give a monkey a camera and he will make a better movie

- topnotchnet, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16the fact that even trying to collect taxes from Katrina Victims is a travesty
what a joke
no taxation without representation- vandread, on 10/12/2007, -15/+10Congressmen and Senators from Louisiana are their representatives.
And, if they owe taxes then they owe taxes, even if they had a crappy year. That's what they get for living below the sea level in an area that is high hurricane/flood risk. - deuceswilde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13I heard the same argument all last year from "conservatives" who believe that they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Just like they did, with their farm subsidies, protective tariffs, government buying programs, and a whole list of tax money going to people who wouldn't make a profit otherwise. Stop the double standard on this argument and frankly stop being such a bigot.
- evolseven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I don't think you should group farm subsidies into that group, farm subsidies actually provide a very necessary service. They keep our available food production capacity at a stable level.. In other words.. they make sure that as a country we can produce enough food to feed ourselves.. even if we aren't necessarily doing that, it is very necessary that we are able to do so when needed.
It would be almost as bad to end farm subsidies as it would to not have any standing army at all.. - wowbagger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3*****. Why am I paying taxes then ? I bet I pay more taxes per month than the average digg 'tard like you makes in two years.
I have no representation, I'm a "legal alien" and cannot vote. Why the ***** should I pay taxes ? I pay taxes because it's the ***** law, I live in a society that depends on those taxes to feed and cloth the less fortunate. I don't like it, but I pay it.
- vandread, on 10/12/2007, -15/+10Congressmen and Senators from Louisiana are their representatives.
- RatTrap, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10How are they gonna pay thoes taxes if they dont even have the money to pay them.Shows you how much the USA cares about its people.
- Buelldozer, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Oh ***** on the Bush comment. The IRS does what it wants to do, almost irrespective of the desires of the President or the Congress.
- floridiot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"How are they gonna pay thoes taxes if they dont even have the money to pay them"
The most profound statement I've ever heard. Ever. - wowbagger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The dumbest statement I've heard by far.
Since when has the IRS been based on ability to pay. You earn it, automatically a portion belongs to the government. Tough *****, get over it.
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Nice. Most poor people (the majority of Katrina victims) don't pay taxes anyway. They get it all back at the end of the year.
Still, this is pretty low. Seems political to me. Anything to stem the tide of disatisfaction with our "leaders" before the election.
Think about how truly LAME most of out politicians are. They're just out of touch, greedy, old dudes.
I bet if you met one you wouldn't ever want to see them ever again.- ardenr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And they use that to their advantage.
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Let me get this straight.
EXXON/MOBILE/SHELL ET AL get massive tax breaks (billions in unpaid royalties for US permission to drill off-shore)
yet
we're going to walk around with a change bucket after election day trying to scrap up whatever taxes we can get.
These people should have their tax burdened waived for 2 years in the interest of economic development.
Kanye may have been right. - BlogCruiser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"along with postponing notices to people who failed to file tax returns,"
I wonder if some of those people that are mentioned, in this quote above, are still missing or dead? Now would the IRS be looking for some dead people to pay their taxes too? - ptsd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7“We are very sensitive to political perceptions,” Mr. Everson said...
isnt anyone else bothered by the fact that the collection of back taxes is being delayed untill after the elections to avoid negative publicity. negative publicity that might affect the outcome of an election...
doesnt seem like this should be legal. - topnotchnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9yes if your not represented by your government in the form of
equal justice
equal education
equal protection
equal opportunities
you should not have to pay any taxes
if mr suburbanite calls 911 and they arrive in 5 minutes and mr ghetto calls 911 and it takes an hour = no taxes
if little suburbanite has access to computers, new books, and a good education but little ghetto boy still has books from the 70s, holes in the roof and is taught that our 1st 15 presidents were hereos not ethic cleansers = no taxes
if a person is not treated equally and poor people are not treated equal they should not be taxed, as mentioned above poor people dont pay a high percentage of taxes anyway (well everyones taxed at a rate of .35 for every dollar they earn but thats another convo)
i dont even think churches should be able to use the fire department they are exempt from taxes while the fire dept is funded by taxes collected from the public, they should pray for more rain
im tired of my money being stolen out of my pocket to drop bombs, kill brown people, support imaginary harp playing beings in the clouds, & imprison poor people that dont have equal justice.
its obviously not going towards education, healthcare, or safe streets its going towards missiles, bullets, lasers, & politicians cocaine/hooker habits- jawngee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Amen.
- dancpsu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Actually, they probably don't pay taxes, and even more, get welfare checks from your (or your parents') taxes. If you are in the bottom 40% of income earners in the U.S. you pay nothing. Also, the government spends far more on the "ghettos" through different welfare services and added police protection (why do you think it takes so long for them to get there? Because they *aren't* busy?).
If you actually look at the federal budget. 50% of it is spent on welfare, social security, medicare and medicaid, while less than 20% is spent on defense.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2We should elect the IRS commissioner some new bosses
- Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think they know that democrats will win, and republicans want to use this as ammo after the election.
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5My mom works for the IRS. She sees this guy everyday and thinks he's a douchebag.
- pawchikapawpaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1hm. what's this? democrats and liberals and "first time democrats, long time republicans" calling for the IRS to tax the poor victims of Katrina?
how... surprisingly expected. - omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Since the government screwed up so abysmally, you'd think they could completely pardon these people's taxes as part of reparations.
- topnotchnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1never mentioned anything about people on welfare if your on welfare longer than a year your pretty much worthless in my book anyway but i dont blame people for taking advantage of a system that takes advantage of them, this country does lead by example you think the president could get into yale on his own?
....that being typed i was speaking of those who work 40+ hours per week, they do pay taxes regardless or not if they get it all back at the end of the year...they bust they ass serving poison to people (cashiers in the form of cigarettes, coffee, and other "legal" addictive drugs including unhealthy food) make maybe $300 per week only to see $75 of it taken out for taxes Soc Sec etc (which they will never see since most will die long before retirement age because of the fast food, cigarettes & poor health services.
if you really think the govt spends so much on the ghettos you obviously never been to one but Im sure you've been to plenty 500 million dollar stadiums, arenas, skyscrapers, & convention centers that sit empty most of the time and i can pretty much guarauntee you visit a million dollar church with marble floors and gold trim.
and if i actually looked at the federal budget i would see a 8.5trillion dollar defecit which by the way is enough to give every man woman and child in this country $30,000
i think its time to let people spend there own money its obvious the govt has no clue and im sure since 70% of the population is paycheck to paycheck the majority of americans would glady take that $75 extra a week the govt steals from them
police busy thats a good one, why the majority of them overweight? half the ones i see cant bend over far enough to tie their shoes let alone get away from the coffee/donut shop
as far as reparations I think todays version of 40 acres and a mule is equal to a 1 acre, a hybrid car and a free college education to even out the "playing field" but that prob wont happen in my lifetime
EVERYONE PAYS TAXES to the tune of .35 for every dollar
be it sales tax, gas tax, utility bill taxes, cell phone taxes, etc I could go on.. so the bottom 40% do pay and its a whole lot more than "nothing" that why you damn near have to work till the middle of May every year just for taxes
so work till may for taxes then 2 weeks out every month just to pay for gas & the vehicle to get back and forth to work in.
dont let me start on how long its been since min wage was raised these people dont work these jobs because they want too, you have a one in million chance to make it out of poverty because the education sucks, there are NO SECOND CHANCES, no opportunities, and your connections are limited remember its who you know counts not what
forgive my rant i would smoke a naturally growing plant like tomatoes but the govt would rather me smoke some chemically engineered tobacco that will give me cancer or drink some alcohol so i can get rowdy and beat my wife cause its taxed of course - gd007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1that is nice of them.
- fatmax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It is funny how in 1913 the US Senators and Congressman created a privately owned central bank for printing money then years later start a Marxist graduated tax system right from the communist manifesto and you lame butts can't see past the grand fraud that had been committed.
The Federal Reserve Bank is privately owned and is operated for profit.
The IRS was created as an inflationary control method so their system doesn't go out of whack.. Before the bankers took control we did not need that. We used the Constitutional means of taxation.
Look carefully at the six year history of trying to get answers to questions about who actually owes taxes here. http://www.givemeliberty.org make sure to read the 536 questions our government refuses to answer.
And yes.. Do watch Aaron Russo's movie "America From Freedom to Fascism"- fatmax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And yes I feel bad for the people of New Orleans.. I feel bad that they got hooked on a system of debt and ignorance provided through gov handouts. Then having to rely on FEMA to bail them out.
I have a feeling the United States once was greater than it is now.
- fatmax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And yes I feel bad for the people of New Orleans.. I feel bad that they got hooked on a system of debt and ignorance provided through gov handouts. Then having to rely on FEMA to bail them out.
- siszam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Also, the government spends far more on the "ghettos" through different welfare services and added police protection"
Actually it's not the "government" who pays for welfare. It's our taxes. Taxes paid by the people who get welfare too. So really they are getting their money and their older, working children's money back. No one is giving them a handout. They are getting their money back. Do you grasp that concept? The government takes our money and uses it to kill our sons and daughters in ***** wars. They don't use that money to shelter, feed, train and give medical care to OUR PEOPLE. They use it to help PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES.....well, help is subjective with this Iraq thing. But you get my point. We live in a country where children go to bed at night without enough food in their stomachs but the same people who don't care about them feel it's their patriotic duty to go half way around the world and "liberate" people who hate us.
THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! How dare you put down American citizens for being poor. I'll bet you're one of those people who are against abortion but think it's okay to starve children and let them die from lack of medical care once they are born. It's fun to play goody two shoes when it doesn't require any real sacrifice or work.
