- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Your work owns... That chart is aesthetically beautiful; I wouldn't change a thing, simply because you did a nice job, and I love the simplicity, but I would create a second chart for people to ogle at (comparatively), and I would add many other details to that second chart.
I mean, I understand how many things would fall into the subjective categories, like "States, not Federal, should have the power...", but many people just don't get the complete picture; many people could really need more depth/details, because many people are thick-headed or retarded by their sensitivity, or they're low on time so they don't have the liberty to see bigger pictures.
Also, many people believe, that candidates should disclose their personal beliefs, to the public, about every thought provoking subject, so the American people may or may not better project any possible secondary outcome(s) of a possible rogue President or Adminisitration.
So, to clarify important points, you may or may not also add:
-Against Larger Government
-Against Smaller Government
-Against Building an American Empire
-Against Nation Building
-Against Nuclear Proliferation
-Against "Shock & Awe" Terms & Tactics
-Against Ending the "Drug War"
-Against Hemp Farming
-Against Medical Marijuana
-Against Abolishing the IRS
-Against Phasing Out The Federal Reserve
-Against Federal Income Tax
-Against State Income Taxes
-Against State Retail Taxes
-Against New World Order
-Against North American Union
-Against World Trade Organization
-Against NAFTA & CAFTA
-Against NAFTA Superhighway
-Against Amero Replacing The Dollar
-Against Trade
-Against UN
-Against NATO
-Against Kyoto Protocol
-Against State Abortion Laws
-Against Roe v. Wade
-Against Abortion
-Against Dept. of Education
-Against No Child Left Behind
-Against Net Neutrality
-Against Regulating Internet(s)
-Against Ammending the Constitution
-Against Gay Marriage
-Against Civil Unions
-Against Secret Prisons
-Against No Child Left Behind
-Against FEMA
-Against Privatizing FAA
-Against Guns on Airplanes
-Against Impeaching Bush
-Against Impeaching Cheney
-Against New 9/11 Investigation
-Against Affirmative Action
-Against Returning Legislative Power to States
I know that many of these things seem redundant, and one could take or leave from the list, but like the many small stats in baseball, covering and/or rephrasing many of the slightest details can only provide different angles or cast a brighter light over each candidates' general image.
Plus, it would be cool, if each 'Check' or 'X' were linked to a specific video of a specific candidate speaking on that [specifically] related topic, you know? (Perhaps supporters from other camps would be willing to team up with you, to create an image map with such a depth.) - FyreGoddess, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I don't feel any pressing need to promote "My" candidate or to pit him against Ron Paul.
Understand what I am saying. The fact that someone votes against something DOES NOT mean that he is specifically for the opposite. It's a less generic statement than your chart. - Hortnon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I can be against amnesty for illegals. That doesn't mean I'm for closing down the borders.
I can be against the Iraq War. That doesn't mean I'm for leaving abruptly.
I can be against torturing enemies. Hell, the Bush administration says they are. They're just using stronger interrogation techniques.
I can be against domestic spying, but for extra cameras in public places.
I can be against socialized medicine, but for an overhaul of the healthcare system.
I can be against 'gun control laws' while still wanting to restrict felons and mental cases to not be able to buy guns.
In review, you're retarded. - phlanx, on 10/11/2007, -8/+12It is not that I consider it biased marketing. IT IS BIASED MARKETING. If it listed issues that were not only favorable to Ron Paul, it would be unbiased. He is the only only one in the list with green checkmarks all the way down. This chart was designed by someone who wanted to market Ron Paul. End of Story.
- FyreGoddess, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9The thing is, stating what people are against is not the same as what they're FOR. Especially when you consider that they may be against, not the issues themselves, but the way they were presented.
This is, honestly, useless information that only serves to give the Paulites a column of green checkboxes and some more faked-up "news". - phlanx, on 10/11/2007, -9/+12Come on. They are all douchebags. This is clearly biased marketing for Ron Paul.
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -1/+4oh and make sure to quote evidence, i.e. voting record etc
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -1/+4ok it looks like Thompson is actually FOR amnesty on illegals based on his record
-got rated with a D on immigration stance
-wants to massivly increase visa'a and guest workers
-is against deportation of any illegals - resta6, on 01/12/2009, -5/+8yes that is right, it was designed by a Ron Paul supporter.
Ok tell me what issues are important to you, and I can see if the guy can add them to version 2 of that image. - Hortnon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Depends on your definition of domestic spying. That's not my opinion of course, but it's just like the torture.
IE, spying can be recording our phone conversations without our knowledge, but cameras can be helping public safety. Or something. It's all in how you spin it, which is why this image doesn't work. - pseudononymist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Eh... I think it's mean to compare Republicans only
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -7/+9did I mention Ron Paul in the title? No this is a side by side comparison of the issues of the candidates. Just because your particular candidate looks like a douchebag based on his campaign issues, doesn't mean its RP's fault
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -5/+7all of Ron Paul stances can be checked by his voting record.
So just because you consider it a biased marketing...may just mean you should research Ron Paul, because its obvious you consider those positions a positive thing - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You dolt. Are you really sure you want Govco involved in the internet? Are you sure Govco has the authority to get involved? Research and understand the issue then come back.
- Hortnon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Way to be unbiased.
- dbwood, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. It helps you absolutely none. It asks generalized questions (with no answers) sorry a check-mark is not an answer. There is logic behind decisions, reasons, points at which one would turn, and all these questions look like someone looked at Ron Paul's stances and made questions accordingly that he could answer yes to. Buried.
- msarge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Ron Paul is against big govt spending, omg.
- Skip742, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You're kidding me, right? You've never seen a yes/no position line-up before? They're used in EVERY election from local to presidential, by almost every advocacy group in the nation. I agree that it could be improved, but "the dumbest thing I have ever seen" sounds like an expression of bias to me. Are there specifics that you think should be corrected? Take them to the guy who made it. But let's not criticize the tool. This is something that most voters want to see.
- rg123, on 10/11/2007, -7/+8Great job I like it alot of the issues in one spot so you dont have to spend hrs
searching - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1dang...you're right :o
My bad! - foofighter20x, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2He was against the so-called "Amnesty Bill" that died in the Senate last month, which is what I used when I created the comparison. He also came out and stated as much, that he did not support amnesty. He could have just been politicking, though.
- jasdf, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Here is a relevant site that was on digg a couple of days ago.
http://www.candidatestats.com/individualstats.html - resta6, on 01/12/2009, -4/+4Black is not white? REALLLLY??? Yes the words FOR and AGAINST are opposites.
You speak very generically, tell me an example of what issue your candidate is "FOR" and what was his reason to vote against that issue? - rainbird997, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3As an example, defending FyreGoddess' point, and also to get eksai to be a bit less dense-headed about this ... Ron Paul voted FOR a federal bill banning partial-birth abortions, even though he is AGAINST federal regulation of abortion--whether for or against. He did this because he felt it would help counterbalance what he views as an overly pro-choice federal stance on abortion.
btw, I'm a Ron Paul advocate. - resta6, on 01/12/2009, -2/+2I meant Fred Thompson, lets face the other Thompson is just a space filler
- echoforever, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2[IMG] is the new [PIC]
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -2/+2thats because on all the forums, the format for embedding an image is , even in html the tag is img. Can't do the < tags because Digg blocks it
- phlanx, on 10/11/2007, -12/+12I wish there was a Bury option for: Buried - More Ron Paul Spam
- whatthefu, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3What about the Democrats?
- Skip742, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yes, Fred is shuffling his feet on that issue, but you pretty much have to go with his latest position, right? I mean, unless you create a separate category of flip-flops.
Another issue worth checking: I believe Sam Brownback was supporting the amnesty bill. Didn't he vote for it? Or did he vote against the final version? I know he was supportive of some version of it. - ravi7791, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2pardon my ignorance but do the republicans even have a chance this time around?
also, buried for Ron Paul. All this digg spam is just making me dislike him..despite the fact that I know little about him. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This is a great way to get across a message in a very graphic way. There's nothing wrong with it. There's a couple errors in this one, as there in all the ones I've seen like it. The guy is not a paid journalist with a staff to cover all the angles, I don't think. Cut him some slack.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2 "All this digg spam is just making me dislike him.." ...says the man who specializes in digging XBox, PS3, and IPhone spam.
- Skip742, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1In principle, you could be right, but I think most of these things are actually true. I commented earlier that I think Sam Brownback was supportive of the amnesty bill.
I think the point is not so much that this is a perfect document, but that a document like this ought to be created. Would you disagree with that? Something that simply outlines the positions of all the candidates. Or do you prefer to let the candidates obfuscate their views? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Dang you blew it Hortnon. I thought I would finally be able to digg up a comment from you.
Until this: "I can be against domestic spying, but for extra cameras in public places"
WTF??? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Most everyone here knows I am a Ron Paul supporter. But I gotta say that I do not like a poll that doesn't include everybody. I've seen it too much with Paul.
Please add all the candidates...like Dennis Kucinich, for one. - geminitojanus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Net Neutrality. Oh wait, Paul's against that. Let's make sure it's not on the list.
- Magillicutti, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12 Thompsons
- geminitojanus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Net Neutrality. Oh wait, Paul's against that. Let's make sure it's not on the list.
- resta6, on 01/12/2009, -4/+2Couldn't find any huh? I'm not surprised
