It didn't work real well for Rudy, but it may be a successful strategy for Huckabee. He has to do something to gain name recognition, and since the Republican field with the obvious exception of Dr. Paul are all running on the same platform, dumping on my candidate may garner Huckabee more free press.
It won't hurt Ron Paul though. He garners even more free press, and since he always answers with unspun truth, he is becoming increasingly attractive to educated voters. So give it your best shot Mike, you might get noticed, and Dr. Paul certainly will get noticed. - nat35, on 11/11/2007, -3/+38Better article for the Huckster's comments:
http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/huckabee-pauls-debate-comments-ludicrous-and-unacceptable-2007-09-06.html
Very sad... I thought he for one was taking the high road and genuinely simply disagreed with Paul's take on things... But alas, apparently winning is more important to him than honor.
He accuses Paul of being naive and apparently I am naive myself for ever believing there might be two respectable candidates in this race. - withears, on 11/14/2007, -4/+34If you liked George W. Bush, you'll love Mike Huckabee.
- Obscenewords, on 11/11/2007, -4/+28It was first Romney, then Giuliani, now Huckabee. Despite their opposition and ridicule, I've noticed the bewildered look of a student getting a lesson on each of their faces during the debate. None of them are prepared for real debate on real issues concerning voters.
- therealrico, on 11/14/2007, -4/+23Why do we even care about Huckabee, the guy is a ***** religious extremist, No way he will get elected
- shabumike, on 11/14/2007, -3/+20To attack Ron Paul's comments is often akin to attacking the very foundation of the USA. He is a "constitutionalist" and vehemently defends and quotes the constitution in much of his commentary. Calling him naive and laughing at his comments ain't too far from burning the flag(which is perfectly legal under the original constitution).
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -3/+19I will never forget the most ridiculous moment of this debate... oh my god, I just looked up and fox is replaying it right now. It was when huckabee's only argument against what ron paul was saying was that everyone in america had to get behind the war because it had already started, and because it had already started, that descent was somehow out of the question. That's really how these government worshipers want people to think. If A, a bad decision is made, then B, one must consider it correct for the simple fact that it has already been made. Unbelievable
- kazamx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15I agree with your position 100%. By keeping many American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan it makes our plans come closer and closer to success.
You see the more American soldiers die the harder it is for America to leave, as it will be seen as a loss. The longer the Americans stay, the more innocent civilians they kill. This causes the families of the dead to hate the Americans and support us in killing as many Americans as possible. The longer the war goes on the more freedoms the American Government take to 'keep you safe'
As our main goal was to take away your freedoms, the American Government is playing into our hands.
Yours, every terrorist organisation
XX - huertanix, on 11/11/2007, -1/+15When Huckabee's ratings go up, the numbers drop for the "front-runners," further dragging everyone's numbers down so that Ron Paul is the only guy left with a solid, ultraloyal voting base that the other guys apparently don't have. This is a very favorable situation and I hope both Huckabee and Brownback can steal more votes from Romney and Guiliani.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -1/+15We are a year out from the election.
Whomever the next president is, they will have a chance to change the Supreme Court for an entire generation.
A lot can happen in a year - a lot.
Would you be willing to admit that Ron Paul ...might...just...have a chance? - BabaRamDass, on 10/20/2007, -0/+14Government was in charge of protection on 9/11, and see how effective that was.
RP is saying that if something like 9/11 happened on an airline's watch, that airline would be responsible. They'd be doing everything in their power to prevent such a thing from happening, because it'd be their personal responsibility. Government doesn't have *personal* responsibility. Government won't lose business if it doesn't prove effective.
Should the firing range be under government control because a whacko could use a gun against others in that range? NO! It's in that firing range's best interest to prevent things like that from happening. - iam413x, on 11/09/2007, -5/+18I digg lots of Ron Paul stories. Maybe I just like the guy. >_>
And the Ron Paul manipulation is no more worse than the Linux, iPhone, Mac manipulation. - rarson, on 11/11/2007, -0/+12They can't debate Paul's comments because what Paul is saying is merely fact. The platforms that they're running on, namely being pro-war, don't coincide with reality, and they bank on the fact that no one has a chance to call them out on that. But Paul has been able to.
I mean, what is there to debate?
"We need to stay in Iraq."
"No, we need to get out of Iraq because it's our foreign policy, which needs to be changed, that is causing all of our problems."
"...nuh uh!"
They can either deny reality, or they can shut up. Or, as Huckabee did, option 3 includes rattling off money phrases and words like "honor" to appeal to voter emotions without actually having to argue any real information. - rarson, on 10/20/2007, -0/+11It's not debatable when the terrorists themselves spell it out for us.
And he's "being bashed" not for disagreeing, but for bashing Paul and being wrong. - NeverReturnKid, on 11/09/2007, -4/+15You are beginning to sound a lot like Sean Hannity.
- omgitsfletch, on 11/11/2007, -1/+12Well the best part is people like RightWingFTW only choose to deliver some baseless attack on Ron Paul, without ever explaining their ideal solution. I'll admit, there are some opinions and views of Ron Paul which I disagree with, but yet, I can't in good faith say that any other candidate would even be as close to as good of a president as Dr. Paul. Time and time again, us "Ron Paul spammers" have said, "tell us who will better protect our Constitution, and serve our country, and why?", and time and time again, these people gloss over that question and continue their attack.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -5/+16I agree. Also, the more recognition Huckabee gets, the more the diluted the pro-war vote will become. A win win situation for Ron Paul
- gmallard, on 11/14/2007, -5/+15I lived in Arkansas for a while. I have not decided about Paul yet, but Mike Huckabee can not be trusted.
He will be trying to pass laws that require all to attend his brand of Christian church every Sunday. - shabumike, on 10/20/2007, -3/+13"His 1850s-style economic policies would send us spiraling into a massive depression." HHAHAHAH!!! you mean as opposed to bush's ever so fiscally responsible administration!!
did you finish grade 12 yet? - BabaRamDass, on 10/20/2007, -2/+12It's not a free market when government gives these companies special treatment. Next argument?
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -4/+14I'm not.
- Cid420, on 10/20/2007, -6/+16So people can only posts links to stories YOU find interesting? Anyway, you post a negative comment about a story you have no interest in and call us spammers...wtf? Try disagreeing and making a point instead of spamming *****.
- akula696969, on 10/20/2007, -1/+11By dominate you mean the position of "we broke it so we gotta buy it"? That is so ludicrous on so many levels and blatantly simplistic ideal.
- logosx1, on 10/20/2007, -5/+14We didn't have "massive depressions" until the equally massive bureaucracies of the 20th century were hatched -- and we're headed for another depression anyway.
- madcat033, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10Ok... let's see. Ron Paul mentions a bunch of FACTS in the debate. You can see in this article, that Ron Paul was factually correct on everything he said. Huckabee, on the other hand, contributed no facts or logic to the debate and merely spewed rhetoric about "you broke it, you bought it" and that we needed "honor."
So, who won? Do you prefer facts or empty rhetoric? The choice is yours. - rarson, on 10/20/2007, -0/+9The entire problem with Huckabee's argument is that it's based on crap. He said during the debates "We must be united, we can't be divided, blah blah blah." I don't need another politician telling me what I should think. Everyone should just fall in line because Huckabee says so? No thanks.
Then he uses such touching words as "honor" and plays to people's emotions by talking about how much honor McCain has. Well, that's great, except when you're saying that we need to stay in Iraq for our "honor," you're speaking absolutely arrogant nonsense. "We have to stay in Iraq because pulling out will make us look bad." Newsflash, that's not only unimportant, but irrelevant and wrong. We already look bad. The longer we stay in Iraq, the more the world will hate our occupation of it. - Klydethegreater, on 11/03/2007, -7/+16If he ever gets traction Huckabee could be dangerous. He comes off as reasonable and moderate which mask his warmongering and chritianist extremism. My guess is he's going to be the crossdressing adulterers running mate. That way the rethugs will have a balanced ticket: an old fashioned fascist paired with a christianist neo-con.
- BabaRamDass, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10"If you think Bush is bad.....What about DEMOCRAT Woodrow Wilson who jailed Socialist Eugene Debs during WW1 for merely speaking out against the War - Or DEMOCRAT Franklin Roosevelt who Imprisoned everyone Japanese in the Entire Country."
A lot of people think Bush, Wilson, and FDR all sucked ass for various reasons. Not many RP supporters, or even Diggers, tote a party line for the sake of toting a party line. - afruff23, on 11/14/2007, -1/+10Hey fascist republicans! You're all splitting the vote so the best candidate, Ron Paul, can win.
There's McCain, Romney, Giuliani, Brownback, Huckabee, Tancredo, Hunter, Cox (who cares about this guy at all?), and the newly added Fred Thompson. I wish Tommy Thompson stayed so the vote would be split even more. - shabumike, on 10/20/2007, -0/+9A car can be a weapon too, a boat a motorcycle a gun etc....
- mushoo, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10He has this lame-trying-to-be-cool vibe that kinda puts you off guard. He comes in saying lame ***** that sorta makes you feel sorry about his whole campaign and when he starts with the wacko ***** you're sorta caught off-guard.
- chipnuts, on 10/23/2007, -1/+9What about DEMOCRAT LBJ that escalated Vietnam, and REPUBLICAN Nixon who 'inherited' it (even though he 'ended' it wasn't soon enough and doesn't mean he didn't want it to continue). What about.... what about.... They're all douche bags, Republican or Democrat. And if you recall, the peoples of Germany and Russia didn't think Hitler or Stalin were too bad at first, that's how they got into power. Stop being such a party elitist and vote your conscious.
- Obscenewords, on 10/20/2007, -1/+9By dominate you mean looking like the brainwashing he has endured briefly wore off when Ron Paul brought him back to school.
- omgitsfletch, on 10/20/2007, -2/+10Dugg down for about 100 reasons. Tool.
- sabach, on 11/09/2007, -4/+12New digg phenomenon, anti-Ron Paul trolls. It had to happen.
- Obscenewords, on 10/20/2007, -1/+9Do you actually go to every story on digg? My eyes pass 85% or more of all articles on Digg becasue i have no interest. You are obviously making an effort to go to Ron Paul articles.
- Obscenewords, on 10/20/2007, -1/+9Just watch the debate and see all the people cheering for him.
- ophello, on 10/20/2007, -0/+8if people digg it, it isnt spam.
- DivisibleByZero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Thanks for linking to page 3 of the article.
- shabumike, on 10/20/2007, -1/+8"Everyone thinks that Bush is out to take over the world" it is plainly stated under the P.N.A.C. manifesto.
- huertanix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7He'll take votes away from Romney and possibly McCain.
- BabaRamDass, on 10/20/2007, -2/+9Anecdotal evidence is great, isn't it. Makes you seem like you can prove an assertion without having to prove it.
- john2kx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8that's what I thought about Bush.
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -0/+7My hands are lethal weapons, and I've had to register them with the federal government.
- urby86, on 10/20/2007, -3/+10Huckabee took Arkansas backwards during his terms as governor here. That's saying something.
- trevorml0878, on 10/20/2007, -4/+10Hmph.. there go Huckabee's chances of being added to this site: http://www.RonPaulsAcrossAmerica.com
- dfan917, on 10/20/2007, -0/+6The other candidates must be realizing that the real threat is from Ron Paul.
- madcat033, on 10/20/2007, -0/+6Read the PNAC papers. Neo-Conservatism involves a lot of foreign intervention, military spending, big government, et cetera. Awful style of government.
- ophello, on 10/20/2007, -0/+6lol yeah, youre a dumb one, mr grinch. RP is going more places than any grassroots candidate ive ever seen, and actually has the credentials and facts to support it. are you blind?
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -2/+8We're only going to do this until the election. Just relax, read some of it, and learn something.
