- heartsblood, on 12/23/2007, -14/+300it doesn't bother me that he's completely insane and running for the executive office, it bothers me that so many people agree with him.
- kris.mallory, on 12/23/2007, -10/+147How about the F*cking Constitution instead?
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -11/+127Why not, this government no longer belongs to the people. Reason and Logic mean nothing in American government anymore.
- silentphoenix, on 12/23/2007, -11/+101next thing you know, the bible will be the constitution
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -6/+95Ever heard of the Bill for Religious Freedom written by Thomas Jefferson in 1787 that" legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion"? Geez! Who are these yahoos wiping their asses with The Constitution?
- Poltron, on 12/23/2007, -4/+68Funny story, he wants the 10 commandments in White House, but he couldn't name 3.
- mranderson86, on 12/23/2007, -4/+58Seperation between Church and State anyone????
- JigoroKano, on 12/23/2007, -3/+49Only 2/10 of The Ten Commandments resemble the law. And one of those not 100%.
Things like taking Yahweh's name in vain, respecting the Sabbath (not Sunday), not coveting thy neighbors ass, ... these things have nothing to do with the law and never should. - Murrabbit, on 12/23/2007, -3/+47Right-wingers who are all in favor of plastering the 10 commandments all over everything need to sit down and actually read those things. Only two of them (though shalt not steal and though shalt not kill) are illegal, and that's hardly anything unique, the rest (with the exception of bearing false witness which could be illegal) aren't represented at all in our legal structure and in fact conflict with the US constitution.
How can this be? Because the founding fathers didn't base the constitution off of scripture! Imagine that, maybe it's not a "Christian nation" after all. - annonimality, on 12/23/2007, -2/+44Huckabee: "“The Ten Commandments form the basis of most of our laws" - Thank god for the 10 Commandments, else we wouldn't have any laws against murder and theft!
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+42It would be great if they would actually honor the First Commandment; "Thou Shalt Not Kill", but it totally goes against our foreign policy.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -3/+4211. Thou Shalt Not Prosecute The President's Son For Slitting A Dog's Throat And Stoning It To Death.
- cquinnd, on 12/23/2007, -4/+40Knowing that my forefathers took the basis for this country's laws as much from the writings of Plato, Locke and the foundation of the Greek and Roman political systems, and specifically created a government system in defiance of rule under the Church and King of England... I find fault with anyone who implies that the Ten Commandments are the sole basis, and that there is no reason to question or disagree with them, goes against the who idea that the constitutional congress represented.
Before finding which commandments to disagree with, one might start by listing which version of the Ten Commandments is the "true" one to outline. - banmaster, on 12/23/2007, -1/+37Well, at least the Old Testament.
The New Testament is 'too liberal'. - lagrange, on 12/23/2007, -3/+39Didn't America have a revolutionary war to get away from a King who's power base was the church?
Now you want to put the church back in charge again? - MillionsLivio, on 12/23/2007, -43/+75***** Huckabee, I'm so sick of his *****. I cannot wait until Paul wipes the floor with him.
- 0ceanic, on 12/23/2007, -0/+29exactly.
Thou Shall Not Kill == Soft on terrorism - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -11/+40 Both your points bother me.
- ianzu, on 12/23/2007, -4/+32Per the bible, rape is okay. I mean as long as you're not raping a dude. Then it's bad.
- pintomp3, on 12/23/2007, -2/+30i'de rather have the The Eight "I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts" in the white house:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gospel_of_the_Fly ... - jmpeagle, on 12/23/2007, -2/+29how come Rape is not in the 10 commandments but being jealous of other people's things is?
- Lane, on 12/23/2007, -9/+35$5 to the person who can find the "ten commandments" he thinks are the ten commandments in a verbatim translation of the Bible from Hebrew. Go ahead I'll wait...
- Berkana, on 12/23/2007, -11/+36Opposing hostility towards religion is one thing, but that's not what we're talking about. Huckabee is trying to pull what George Bush pulled when he was a candidate: he's pandering towards the Christians in an attempt to have them vote him in on the basis of his faith, while turning a blind eye towards all his faults and shortcomings. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DkUBfOLZH4 ) Huckabee doesn't seem to know the first thing about foreign policy nor monetary policy, unlike Ron Paul. At best, he's going to be a Christian figure-head while corporations and advisors pull the strings behind him.
- Pigglesworth, on 12/23/2007, -4/+29Because murder and theft was certainly legal before societies knew of the 10 commandments.
- pintomp3, on 12/23/2007, -5/+30here is a source, for those who don't believe it:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul148.html
he also doesn't believe in evolution:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4af9Q0Fa4Q&eurl=ht ... - pintomp3, on 12/23/2007, -0/+24looks like you missed his sarcasm, and retorted with sarcasm.
- imikedaman, on 12/23/2007, -1/+25It'd also be great if they'd honor the Ninth Commandment, which is... well, I can't remember how it ends, but your mother's a whore.
- MillionsLivio, on 12/23/2007, -12/+34Do us all a favor and die, you are pathetic.
- vanbacon, on 12/23/2007, -5/+27Who the ***** votes for this guy or even takes him seriously.
- biggerapple3am, on 12/23/2007, -5/+24Yea, it's amazing how Ron Paul digg fanatics can turn a blind eye to stuff like this and so vehemently go after Huckabee for the same *****.
- jmpeagle, on 12/23/2007, -1/+19Do you hate capitalism? Our economy runs on breaking the 10th Commandment. Also, I don't think we should base any of our laws on a book that requires people to rape the women of the defeated heathens, condones slavery, and requires the hatred of gays.
- eclectro, on 12/23/2007, -0/+18Yeah, and then before you know it you will see them put the word "God" on money and in the pledge of allegiance.
- pintomp3, on 12/23/2007, -3/+21interesting point. i guess because christianity doesn't afford women the right or ability to deny or consent.
- bjornski, on 12/23/2007, -2/+19Personally, I see Rudy as out. no matter what FOX says. A HUGE amount of money will be spent to try and keep him afloat, but I see him as gone.
*Prediction: This will be a Huckabee/Romney race on the side of the GOP. "Faith" will be a HUGE voting point. And most people don't care what it is anymore, as long as they say the name Jesus and aren't Islam.
I will only deal with the GOP candidates in this thread, the others can be dealt with later.
But yes, I see Huckabee gaining a lot of support, as Rudy falls apart, and McCain flounders in the back carrying Georges royal train.

*Prediction is based on a non-scientific based method of following news, using my mind, and spouting an opinion. It means nothing, and if you take it as more than an opinion, you're reading way too much into it. - BuzzFriendly, on 12/23/2007, -2/+19If his name was Al-Huckabee and was a Muslim his supporters would call him a terrorist or religious fanatic.
- Speed, on 12/23/2007, -1/+18"It would sure be interesting for you to outline exactly which of the 10 Commandments, if not all of them, you find fault with."
Sure thing, here you go:
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me", "Thou shalt not make for thyself an idol", "Thou shalt not make wrongful use of the name of thy God ", "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy", "Honor thy Father and Mother" (in the case of people with bad parents), "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" (really? lying is deserving of eternal damnation?)
That's only 6/10 commandments that I have problems with. - 3tcp, on 12/23/2007, -2/+17I wonder what it would be like if he actually followed them
Thou shalt not...
steal = cut taxes & trim the budget
kill = out of Iraq, no death penalty
covet = no war for oil, corruption, etc...
bear false witness = no government deception, cover-ups of illegal stuff
take the lords name in vain = no exploiting religion for political gain
If he isn't exploiting religion for political gain then he wouldn't have the 10 commandments up in the first place. All that would be accomplished by posting them would be to show everyone that he's a hypocrite. - kublerross, on 12/23/2007, -2/+16yes and the "do not steal", is more of a "do not steal unless it is in the name of profits"
- ronpaul20008, on 12/23/2007, -5/+19The 700 club has taken over america
- stretta, on 12/23/2007, -3/+15Evolution is a theory like gravity is a theory. we only call it a theory because, unlike religion, science doesn't pretend to know everything. The mere fact that the scientific community has a open mind does not invalidate millennia of fossil record. We will never know all the facts.
Keep an open mind, sure, but not *so* open your brains fall out. - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+14Looks like Ron Paul hasn't read much of the Founder's writings:
In an 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, Thomas Jefferson, then President, declared that the American people through the First Amendment had erected a "wall of separation between church and state." In the Supreme Court's 1879 Reynolds v. U.S. decision, the Court said Jefferson's observations "may be accepted almost as an authoritative declaration of the scope and effect of the [First] Amendment."
James Madison, considered to be the Father of the Constitution, said in an 1819 letter, "[T]he number, the industry and the morality of the priesthood, and the devotion of the people have been manifestly increased by the total separation of the church and state." - ICSU, on 12/23/2007, -1/+13There should be one special commandment for the religious:
"Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself." (George Carlin) - mrsteveman1, on 12/23/2007, -3/+14The problem is that most of the 10 Commandments are not worthy of law because they are unenforceable, they also have no place being RECOGNIZED by the government, which if done by congress passing a law to allow them to be present in a government building, is unconstitutional (first amendment).
Liberals tend to have quite a few problems with knee jerk reactions to specific problems (making everything objectionable, illegal), but this is one case that words are important, the government has no place being involved in religion in any way whatsoever, even if it means blocking the 10 commandments from being shown in a government building.
I would also love to know how you think Liberals are the ones threatening the constitution right now, if you haven't been paying attention enough to tell the difference between a liberal and a fake neocon, you're a moron. - markcih, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11But WHICH 10 commandments?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments
Also some versions of the bible refer to either not committing murder (which is decidedly different from the all-encompassing "not kill") and some versions say thou shall not kill unless absolutely necessary!! - dellis, on 12/23/2007, -2/+12Reason and Logic mean nothing to the average American either. We have the government we deserve...
- LeeSoong, on 12/23/2007, -0/+10What I like most about the Ten Commandments is that since they were voted on and passed by a great majority,
not a single person has ever been killed,
there is no more crime,
16 year old sisters of superstars do not get pregnant,
and my neighbors ass is safe from harm.
Remember: The Bible gives you the right to keep and bare Asses... - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -12/+22reason #209 to hate Christians.
- JohnFlux, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11The "Do not kill" is more of a "Do not kill illegally".
If you killed someone in the name of the law, that would not be covered by the "Do not kill". - Speed, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11I never thought I'd see that post without a sarcasm tag...
- pintomp3, on 12/23/2007, -2/+112 out of three ain't bad (leave the ten commandments out)
