- afruff23, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3HIV can be transferred by heterosexual contact as well, so anybody is a potential carrier. We ought to close down the blood bank. After all, it never did anybody any good.
HIV is not like a plague. It is not highly contagious like a plague is. - EmileVictor, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3Having read a bit more that post I made above is quite invalid. In 1992 it had already been established that it wasn't airborne. Sometime before that, maybe.
- ncurses, on 12/09/2007, -3/+5Huckabee isn't exactly the sharpest scalpel in the abortion clinic.
- Delusionist, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Every ***** disease is communicable you *****. They just have varying degrees of communicability. HIV is not highly contagious, and thus, does not need to be quarantined.
- EmileVictor, on 12/09/2007, -2/+3I run the risk of being dugg down here, but I have to point out that back in 1992 AIDS was thought to be an AV (airborne virus). Even doctors were being isolationist. Here in Australia AIDS patients were having their food slid across the floor towards them by nurses who were scared of being infected themselves. I imagine it was much the same in America. Huckabee obviously was supporting what made sense at the time.
- edisonoside, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1AIDS was man-made by those that think like you.
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -6/+6Huck was right. In fact, isolation of any quickly-spreading and unknown disease is simply common sense. It's what Western cultures have done since the Middle Ages. The reason for this? It works. It prevents the spread of the disease into the general population, which is crucial if you want your population to survive. Put another way -- how many children, men, and women have died because AIDS carriers were not isolated? Think of the blood bank contamination, the folks who got infected through bisexual sexual contact, and on, and on. As far as Christian compassion goes, this is compassion indeed.
- JordanTW90, on 12/09/2007, -3/+2He's an idiot.
- afruff23, on 12/09/2007, -3/+2They should start calling Huckabee an isolationist!
- inactive, on 12/08/2007, -7/+5Quarantining people with AIDS. Wow. Ignorance is not only bliss, it's dangerous. And this man wants to be President? I actually hope he gets the nomination. I want the entire country to see what results when southern inbreeding take hold. Headlines should read, "If you think Bush was an ignoramus, look at how much worse it can actually get."
- yakimushi, on 12/08/2007, -7/+4Ahhh, good 'ol Christian compassion. Way to go Huck.
