Vote Often - Bagos1, on 11/04/2009, -5/+13Vote of the Living Dead......coming soon to a polling station near you.
- Jordan117, on 11/04/2009, -1/+8I don't see anything wrong with this. If the person has *already* cast their vote, why should it be nullified? They exercised their rights in a perfectly legal way, just the same as if they'd voted in a voting booth and had a fatal heart attack three minutes after leaving the polling place. Death shouldn't take that away from them.
This isn't anything like the "fake votes being cast using the names of people that have been dead for fifty years" thing the above commenters are implying it is. - Jordan117, on 11/04/2009, -2/+8If you go to the polling place on election day and cast your vote, then get hit by a bus an hour later, should your vote be nullified? If not, then you should have no problem with this article. It's exactly the same situation, except the people voted before they died using perfectly legal absentee ballots instead of voting in person. There's nothing corrupt (or partisan) about it.
- RealmDown, on 11/04/2009, -1/+5....but probably Mayor Daley
- Dustin00, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Seriously, how many people die in that time period? I don't see this as much of a big deal.
I think it would be quiet expensive for the states to set up systems to prevent this.
Just make sure the person can't vote next time, would make me plenty happy. - The2DQuartet, on 11/04/2009, -2/+4'Absentee ballots'? In the UK we call them postal votes, but I can see how that could be misinterpreted to mean voting by using a large automatic rifle in a crowded office
- btschul, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Hi Spammer Can U go play in traffic?
- sarahlee, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Maybe because you have children or grandchildren you care about. Beside, weird stuff happens and you live longer than anticipated.
I helped an elderly woman vote in 2000 who was not supposed to live more than a few days. She lived another 7 months. - fatherdoom, on 11/04/2009, -3/+5*insert angry misinformed comment about ACORN here*
- nelsonr1, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1didnt sideshow bob rig the springfield election like that
- DevilToo, on 11/03/2009, -7/+8Awesome reply
- KDX200rider, on 11/05/2009, -1/+2Democrats in Massachusetts have been winning election for years with help from the dearly departed.
- magus_melchior, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1I think everyone can agree that this is yet another transparent attempt to pin voting fraud to Democrats, characterized by something like:
"OMFG THEY SENT ABSENTEE BALLOTS TO DEAD PEOPLE THEY'RE STUFFING THE BALLOT BOX acorn HAD TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS THOSE BASTARDS THEY'RE RUINING DEMOCRACY!!1!!"
You want fraud? Ask Walden O'Dell. - JohnnySoftware, on 11/04/2009, -2/+3Well, I guess the next interesting question is - is there parity?
Do they allow pre-18 year old citizens to vote with absentee ballots if they will be turning 18 on or before election day?
If death disqualifies you then aging up to qualification prior to election day should allow you to cast absentee ballot prior to election day, right? - jerrdalton, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1ACORN.
That was easy. - Jikul, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1Dugg for the last three word of the title, my all-time favourite tv show :)
- lochness, on 11/04/2009, -3/+2David Fisher would be so proud...
- GalacticRerun, on 11/04/2009, -2/+1Well it worked for Sideshow Bob, almost.
- Ravage172, on 11/04/2009, -14/+12Taken directly from the DNC playbook....
Followed by:
Bus the voters in
Hand out free cigarettes
Have Disney characters vote for your candidate
and if all else fails....
Keep recounting until, through sheer exhaustion, your candidate wins! - banditboydavid, on 11/04/2009, -3/+1If you know that you're going to die either before the election or soon afterwards, why even vote? If you die, you won't be around to see what happens, and the new policies won't effect you at all.
- gizram84, on 11/04/2009, -6/+4"In 2008, the state of Hawaii counted Barack Obama’s grandmother's absentee ballot even though she died three days before Election Day."
CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE!!!!!!!!! - rebrad, on 11/04/2009, -5/+2Ask your friendly neighborhood organizer. They are there to help.
.......brought to you by ACORN and the SEIU.............. - DavidNiven, on 11/04/2009, -10/+6No wonder the Democrats claim more people are registered with them. Look at all the cemeteries in those towns.
- charlwilso, on 11/04/2009, -6/+0311
You left out 311.
I would have voted for them.
So, I have to pick Six Feet Under
