- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -73/+272How Obama got elected?
Ignorance. The Left has finally got what it's been striving for for decades. An critical mass among the electorate of the utterly ignorant, unqualified to even cast a vote. - egeniuses, on 11/18/2008, -27/+145Ask a bunch of Ron Paul supporters the same questions and I bet they'll do a lot better.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -15/+105I wish I could say I'm shocked, but I'm not.
- TRMarchesano, on 11/18/2008, -25/+112All I can say is WOW......
- ozel01, on 11/18/2008, -23/+109After viewing this video, I think we need to implement a litmus test for voters. If they fail to make a minimum of 80%, they fail to qualify to vote.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -29/+103Zogby Poll
512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points
97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates
Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions
57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).
And yet.....
Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes
Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!
Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.
Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey) - lanesharon, on 11/18/2008, -8/+78The main stream media worked very hard to get these stories permanently embedded in the minds of US citizens. They said things loud enough, often enough, and from most channels just to make sure that this happened. Every other piece of information was extraneous to their goals. It was a well orchestrated marketing campaign, with the product being Barack Obama. It worked!!
- radiofrequency, on 11/18/2008, -47/+104This is fun but every candidate has at least a dozen supporters who are completely politically uninformed. The idea behind a democracy is that given a large enough voting pool, the best candidate - or rather, the candidate most tuned with the direction the people want to move to - is elected. I'm extremely disappointed about the democrat party majority in Congress and Obama's win, but I won't write off democracy yet.
I made a promise before the election that I won't resort to calling the American people "stupid" like the democrats did after Kerry's loss. I'll continue to stand by that promise. Many people were uninformed, I believe people made the wrong decision in electing Obama, but I will (grudgingly) accept his Presidency. I will however fight his liberal socialist policies tooth and nail and I know over time it will be proven that he was the wrong candidate with the wrong credentials, experience, mindset and policies for the job. - these3remain, on 11/18/2008, -14/+68That was awful. I've got a bit of throw-up in my mouth now. It's frightening that the people interviewed are the rule and not the exception.
- keltin, on 11/18/2008, -13/+61Makes you realize why the Ancient Greeks had it right about democracy, you had to be qualified to vote.
- reaper527, on 11/18/2008, -14/+62that video was hilarious, yet at the same time depressing. i just don't understand how so many people could pick up on the idiotic things, and miss the big things (like "what party controls congress", or "who are nancy pelosi, harry reid, and barney frank"). it is also disappointing that they laughed at their own ignorance.
the only question they asked that i didn't know was about biden having to end a campaignin the past due to plagiarism. (although that was my guess, as the nature of the video eliminated palin/mccain, and obama was caught plagiarizing this year, and i don't think he would make the same mistake twice if it killed a campaign previously) - Troika37, on 11/18/2008, -11/+51But the media's not biased, right?
- silentboom, on 11/18/2008, -10/+50Without a doubt, most have done extensive research on monetary policy, foreign policy, and have a thorough understanding of the ideas behind our founding documents and a firm grasp of history. They understand that the best regulation of a free market is competition and the best governments are small.
- rekrapt, on 11/18/2008, -19/+58Be nice if this would make it to the front page... but...
- RedWhiteNBrian, on 11/18/2008, -9/+45Remember George Orwell and his book, 1984? The TV came on in the morning and told you exactly what to do and think. How far away from that are we right now? Really.
- Gondring, on 11/18/2008, -6/+41radiofrequency--did you note the Zogby results? It wasn't just these 10 voters. It was a commissioned poll. The results are astounding.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -33/+66I wish I could get the last ten minutes of my life back.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -9/+38It's a problem for most Americans. They vote within the two party system, because that is all they know, whether out of sheer ignorance or tradition. I wish more people would vote based on ideological principles and factual information instead of political rhetoric.
True Story: Yesterday, a man campaigning for the ACLU came to my house, looking to recruit new donors. He said "The ACLU believes strongly in preserving our Constitutional Rights, just like President-elect Obama." I nearly died of laughter. The same Obama that voted to renew the Patriot Act and supports FISA legislation? That one? Yea...I thought so...
I've noticed that the average Bob Barr, Ron Paul, or Ralph Nader supporter is usually far more knowledgeable on political issues (foreign and domestic) and the beliefs of their candidates, as oppose to Obama and McCain supporters, who spew this hypocritical "Change" and "Country First" nonsense. - SuperVepr308, on 11/18/2008, -9/+38I can fathom BO getting elected because people just don't know him (they are getting ready to and it might not be pretty). What gets me is the fact that Pelosi/Reid/Dodd/Frank have shown themselves to be pathetic, ineffectual hacks with an insane liberal mindset and people still re-elected them to power or at the very least are not calling for their jobs. Blows my mind. Don't get me started on Schumer. Congress runs this country, not the president. Are these buffoons the ones the American people want running it the show? Is this the best we can do?
- DavidKay61, on 11/18/2008, -11/+40Watched the producer discuss the movie/documentary. To make sure nobody could come back and say he handpicked the responders, he had a black female Obama supporter select the twelve to be interviewed. Please remember, we now live in a country where one of its states almost elected Stuart Smalley as senator...and they see no problem, that cheating is still going on to get this retard seated in Congress!!!! We live in a country foolish enough to vote for a man who, in all sincerity, shouted, "We are the ones we've been waiting for." We are in a country foolish enough to believe "CHANGE" (from the Bushes and Clintons) was a sincere cry from a candidate, who has selected 47 appointees so far...31 FROM THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION, who have been mostly lobbyists for the past eight years. So...this movie didn't surprise me at all.
- Teribssn, on 11/18/2008, -9/+37OH MY! What more can I say!
- Observant1, on 11/18/2008, -8/+35how is it obama fans dont know nancy pelosi is almost personally responsible for bush not being impeached when she ran for office on an impeachment platform?
- keltin, on 11/18/2008, -2/+29@radio, let me second @Gondring's comment. It was not 12 cherry-picked people who supported Obama. The level of ignorance of Americans has never been so apparent. Stupid, not necessarily, but certainly more ignorant than a new-born puppy. Well, even the puppy knows where to find love and food.
- dekuscrub, on 11/18/2008, -14/+40I wish I could get the next 4 years of my life back.
- kwilliams1130, on 11/18/2008, -8/+33How flipping sad.
- seeingright, on 11/18/2008, -26/+50I liked the black chick who said, "I don't think I am that well informed, but I still wouldn't change my vote for Obama." Then their was the guy that looked gay to me.. the one with the beard.. he kept trying to dodge the questions.. real cool there..
I wonder how the Elites and Intellects that voted for Obama are silently saying about these "well informed" group of voters.. God only knows..
Obama, Obama, Obama, OBAMA.. quiet now, I am chanting my Messiah's name.. - Mier, on 11/18/2008, -6/+29I want state issued identification show at the voting place to prove you are who you are and I want the voter registrar to prove citizenship before issuing the voter card. These things can be done at the state level and would probably solve much of our issues with idiots in the polling place.
I'm also down for a civics test to get your voter registration card. Some people just take what their told and most of what their told are lies or inaccurate. - akchrs, on 11/18/2008, -8/+31Interesting how the people either had a vacant look(nobody home inside) or a hate/mean/mad look.
- keltin, on 11/18/2008, -3/+25You think the people who now realize they can vote for someone who will give them things for free, are going to let their vote be taken away from them?
Not on your life. - egeniuses, on 11/18/2008, -5/+27And Obama supporters will say:
"Who currently is in control of the Senate?"
Who knows, who cares, I have hope! YES WE CAN! - OwdenBowden, on 11/18/2008, -13/+35RomeroWasRight - I could not agree with you more and I only wish I could give you a billion diggs. This is a very sad statement for what we are producing in this country. It is not only the young but the middle and old. It scares the crap out of me to know that because of this election we are all in some very serious trouble.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -7/+29I absolutely agree with you. Perhaps an IQ test?
- cdwarrior14, on 11/18/2008, -5/+25Blame it on the MTV, American Idol, Reality TV, only concerned with the glitz and glamour regardless of the substance and their own financial existence, Generation that I am ashamed to be a part of, that got out to vote in masses.
There should be a test that everyone should have to take in order to be qualified to vote. Glenn Beck and Jay Leno help this idea everytime they do their "take it to the street" segments. People are totally clueless. Anyone who stood in line for 4 hours on Voting Day listening to some of these cretins could probably attest to this idea. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+20I know we (Ron Paul supporters) will do a lot better because I knew them all and so did everyone I am sitting with who watched this.
I stand by my argument that the media picks our president. - jcostom, on 11/18/2008, -3/+22Definitely not an IQ test, you'll have a revolt with people screaming of elitism on your hands.
Set the bar fairly low, but still higher than the average moron can handle. For instance, NJ 101.5 (FM talk radio here in NJ) regularly does surveys around election time in public places, asking who the governor is, who the vice president is, etc. Without fail, 40-50% of those surveyed have no idea.
I propose a 4-question test prior to being permitted to cast a ballot. You must get 3 out of 4 correct.
1. Who is the current President of the US?
2. Who is the current Vice President of the US?
3. Who is the current Governor of (your state here)?
4. Who is the current Speaker of the House of Representatives?
Anyone who's got even the slightest familiarity with what's going on in the world around them should be able to answer at least 3/4 of those, if not all 4. - alais, on 11/18/2008, -11/+29Really sad, wake up America.
- wonderchemist, on 11/18/2008, -2/+20Wait a minute, I thought the intellectual elitists where democrats?
- keltin, on 11/18/2008, -7/+25I'm pissed about that last one. Don't give 'em anything, because Sarah Palin DIDN"T say they could see Russia from her house. To 'give' it to them is a falsehood and it shows their inability to hear and recognize truth.
- LadyAmerica, on 11/18/2008, -0/+17This was a Zogby survey (poll) conducted for John Ziegler.
Zogby (11/18/2008): "We stand by the results our survey work on behalf of John Ziegler, as we stand by all of our work. We reject the notion that this was a push poll because it very simply wasn't. It was a legitimate effort to test the knowledge of voters who cast ballots for Barack Obama in the Nov. 4 election. Push polls are a malicious effort to sway public opinion one way or the other, while message and knowledge testing is quite another effort of public opinion research that is legitimate inquiry and has value in the public square. In this case, the respondents were given a full range of responses and were not pressured or influenced to respond in one way or another. This poll was not designed to hurt anyone, which is obvious coming as it was conducted after the election. The client is free to draw his own conclusions about the research, as are bloggers and other members of society. But Zogby International is a neutral party in this matter. We were hired to test public opinion on a particular subject and with no ax to grind, that's exactly what we did. We don't have to agree or disagree with the questions, we simply ask them and provide the client with a fair and accurate set of data reflecting public opinion." http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1641
Actual survey results: Zogby America National Poll of Barack Obama Voters 11/13/08 thru 11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 percentage points http://www.zogby.com/news/wf-dfs.pdf - Spuy767, on 11/18/2008, -1/+18It's rising in diggs pretty fast, I wouldn't gas yoour chickens before they hatch.
- DTAL2009, on 11/18/2008, -10/+27I wish I could say I was surprised. Requiring voters to demonstrate a vague knowledge of the facts and issues does not seem all that wrong. Perhaps this is what officials do in the other seven states.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -2/+18Achalemoipas, you have shown some extreme ignorance in your reply to OwdenBowden. Your statement, "And you're affraid because your new president is black and educated." is completely unfounded (and by the way, "afraid" only has one "f"). OwdenBowden neither said nor implied any such thing.
Furthermore, you have obviously bought into the media hype regarding the Bush Administration. If you do not realize that the Democrat-controlled Congress had a great deal to do with the current sad state of our economy, then you are one of the millions of uninformed people who should not be allowed to vote. - Mier, on 11/18/2008, -2/+18Hard to do when the media refuses to carry the story. Only so many people attend rallies and the rest rely however stupidly on CNN or NPR to fill in their gaps.
- radiofrequency, on 11/18/2008, -3/+18I just looked at the zogby results in a post below. The statistics are shocking, but the strategy of criticizing the electorate for voting for Obama is unproductive. Obama ran a "well organized campaign" and that, by itself, means he had the foot soldiers to dig up the least qualified, least interested and least informed voters and get them excited. He was aggressive about getting his message out and people like the ones in this video didn't vote for him because they agreed or disagreed with his policies - or were even informed of them in any realistic sense. They were just happy somebody asked for their vote and told them how important it was.
In 2012 I hope the Republican party woos these voters better (as well as the more informed, conservative ones) so that the country can get on the right track. It's never too early to start. - pepperone, on 11/18/2008, -5/+20 No henchmen educate people,we educate ourselves. Which is what the blind, and deaf and couldn't care less" about anything except what's in it free for me Obama voters should have and could have done. Even without a T.V. Educate their selves.
But like I said they' couldn't care less anyway.
And they think their "Free".. - OwdenBowden, on 11/18/2008, -2/+16Radio - I agree with you that every candidate has at least a dozen supporters who are completely politically uninformed. But in the case of Obama - THEY WERE ALL UNINFORMED.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -9/+23I think we should administer a basic test for voting rights.
It's a shock to see how many of my classmates lack knowledge of basic historical events. Like today, when a classmate didn't know that the "French and Indian War" is also referred to as the "Seven-Years War".
Sad thing is, most voters probably wouldn't know either. - egeniuses, on 11/19/2008, -0/+13Billions: I don't think silentboom's comment was sarcastic at all. We've tried big government + big corporations. The results are the economic conditions you are witnessing today. That isn't capitalism, it's corporatism. Yes, Austrian economics "seems" simplistic when summarized in a sentence but it goes into great depth. (Recommend reading Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt)
Yeah it's tough when you're considering a global economy and the implications of differences in government policies. A truly free market requires minimal government intervention which makes many of the differences irrelevant. Another problem is that most currency is fiat currency and not really backed by anything that can stop inflation.
What we have now can be summarized as regulation of a supposedly "free market" by Government controlled competition and the thought that the best governments are big. That doesn't sound right does it?
About it seeming simplistic, sometimes the truth is easier to understand than incorrect assumptions and theories. Try to convince me that 1+1=3 and I'll have a tough time. Tell me it equals 2, no problem. - jkrain, on 11/18/2008, -6/+19Don't worry your welfare check will be awaiting you in a few months.
- dgt02, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13keltin - Obama reneged on his promise to use public financing so he did have more money for commercials (like a 1/2 hour infomercial). However most honest people will admit the traditional liberal media pulled out all of the stops this election and willingly concealed important news about Obama while on the other hand directly attacking Republicans like Palin & Joe the Plumber, perpetuating falsehoods. It started with the NY Times story that someone said McCain might have had an affair. That was NOT news. The bottom line is we now can prove the liberal media is part of the Democrat/Liberal machine.
