- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+66This actually isn't "starting low" -- if you read Madison's comments on impeachment, he was pretty clear that if a President refuses to fire a subordinate who has committed an impeachable offense, the President can be impeached for that alone. Otherwise, Presidents would get their underlings to do the dirty work and just pardon them as needed.
Here's more detail if you're interested: http://digg.com/politics/Flashback_to_1974_Constitutional_Grounds_for_Impeachment - Letsdienow, on 10/10/2007, -7/+58YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
You start low, and start goin high..... Get him impeached and ridded of, and move to Cheney and so on - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+41Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) Is the same guy who introduced and co-sponsored the current save Internet radio legislation. Good man Rep. Jay Inslee, good man.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Don't you love it when your representatives do their job? It certainly puts the lie to that "kick them all out" spam thats been going around. There are still a few left who can't be bought.
- piratearggghhh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14I'll believe it when I see it.
- kethraal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11@Mike Campbell:
"You liberals will just... Maybe if you weren't so bent on ruining America "liberal" would be a positive label."
Shut. The. *****. Up. Seriously. Can you get beyond "liberal" and "conservative"? Is it so hard to lose your ***** juvenile "us vs. them" mentality? That division is ***** pointless and causes a polarization that's hurt our country more than anything.
Just. *****. Stop. It. - Corqueatsz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Am I the only one completely fed up with how "liberal" has become the insult of choice around here?
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Yes. Funny, that. All Clinton had to do was pardon a financial contributor on his last day in office and dedicated Pro-Lifers were ready to go back in time and retroactively abort him.
- dattaway, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What happens when the entire executive branch becomes corrupt and is impeached?
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Democrats controlled the Senate from June 2001 to January 2003. An opposing party controlling the Senate is both a check and a balance to the executive branch."
Not if they don't do anything -- just because they had a Senate majority back then didn't mean that any checks and balances were actually in place. Especially not in the near-aftermath of 9/11, when even the *french* were pro-Bush... ;) - gback2000, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9I am to tired now to read the article on the impeachment of Gonzalez. I am sure that another one will be posted tomorrow. I will try and read that one.
- bfullergwu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I'm a liberal and I'm proud of it ... The other liberals here (the majority) should feel the same way. The misguided ignorant person who would use liberal as an insult probably still thinks that 'dubyah' talks to god and that we were right to go to Iraq. So my advice is just to discount anyone who uses liberal as an insult.
- ClosedCaption, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Mommy, why is the lying man still in charge of the law?
- Evilhenchman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Good!! Get this douchebag liar outta there!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"That division is ***** pointless."
You sure hit the nail on the head...Wish I could Digg you up 20 times...
This us vs them, republican vs democrat, etc. has really kept a lot of stuff from being done cause everyone is so busy protecting their Conservative or liberal turf rather than doing the right thing. - ophilye, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's not a joke anymore.
My daughter actually asked that last week. "well, if he's so bad, and so many people are lying for him, then what ELSE can he do? " To which she promptly had nightmares that he had done horrible, horrible things & no one could stop him.
Which, now that I think back, probably weren't nightmares... but premonitions... or, reality... depending on your POV. - chi1thook, on 10/10/2007, -10/+13Hasn't this story been repeated 15 times in the last two days on digg.
- reaganluver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You're Right! those goddawmed bleeding heart liberals!!! that's all that's wrong with this country...... if we could only get rid of them then this country's streets would magically turn to gold and capitalism would finally take hold then the corporations could do their jobs pleasing their customers at their shareholders expense. Then, every country in the world would love us (except the terrorist) (btw terrorist means anyone who disagrees with me. ....... Are you retarded? both parties suck....... if you are a true liberal or a true conservative you are absolutely mentally unfit to wipe yourself. I'm completely socially liberal...... I'm fiscally conservative...... where am i at buddy....... good or evil.... Am i ruining this country? You know the media has fooled you into believing that left and right have a meaning. why not just decide on the issues individually. Who are you to say that all liberals are bad? Evil people like Strom Thurmond, and Nathan Bedford forrest, and Richard Nixon were conservatives. The dems used to be the conservatives. and the Republicans were the liberals, then the christian right decided a strong federal government was the best way to impose their religous rules on others. So now the Republicans aren't even conservative. Guess what...... in a few more years they'll call halftime and switch to the other ends of the field again. Why not just say screw both of these lunatic parties and think for yourself?
- gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I really don't understand the excitement. It takes a simple majority in the House to pass the Articles of Impeachment, but a two-thirds majority in the Senate to remove the bastard. It won't happen. In fact, it's difficult to imagine a scenario where impeachment would seem likely. No matter what he does, the President of the United States will always be able to find 34 Senators willing to do him a favor. Dirty, but true.
- Rsardinia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I hope that we can finally impeach someone of this administration and get the dominoes to start falling. If what you are saying is true, and I'm sure it is, then maybe just maybe the House and Senate will finally have grounds to Impeach Bush that are blatently obvious (to them that is). We all know there's a million things to impeach Cheney and Bush on, but Congress chooses to ignore this stuff as impeachment worthy, but impeaching Gonzalez while Bush would not fire him, could get the proceedings started for his own impeachment. I hope we can just get them impeached before Martial Law is instituted.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Its just so damn rare that they act in this way.
Most seem far more concerned about getting #1 more money, and #2 re-elected so that they can make #1 - fixedcoma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2***** don't impeach! we should go back to olden times where we used to hang corrupt pieces of *****!
- Stryder81, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yea yea yea woopty ***** doo...Impeach the more " Crucial " ones. Gonzales is small potatoes compared to Bush & Cheney.
- PerfectTommy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Can we please end this long national disgrace? Alberto, just quit already! Gives new meaning to the term Crooks and Liars!
- GideonCDingle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Huh?
- trapilales, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2First, keeping tabs on the executive branch and defending the US constitution is their No. 1 job so this is exactly what they should be doing
Second, I'll take someone lying about a bj a thousand times over an ***** lying about a war.
Third, i hate to break it to you...but you're a moron - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Oh yes, it was perfectly acceptable to call blacks "*****" before the ***** liberals showed up. Bunch of evil bastards bent on ruining America.
- M4tt3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1petting a bear?
- DummyO, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1ummm, it's called multi-tasking. I'm pretty sure most people can do it.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"A" rhymes with "go"? I'd love to hear your accent.
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Petting yo' bear?
You have a bear!? - 0xbadfood, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's funny, because it only proves their mass stupidity. Look at the votes on the Patriot act. The nays are basically the list of congressmen who aren't imbeciles. The house wasn't even allowed to *read* it, and still the majority of democrats and all but three of the Republicans voted for it. If you want a 'kick 'em all out' list, there it is. You voted for the patriot act? Go ***** home.
- Rkocour, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wait... Did you just try to refute him and in the process support him? I mean if you actually read his comment, he was talking about the power of independent thought vs. the labels of the parties we have now. Aka, we have people who associate liberal with democrats, and conservative with republicans. You certainly look as you are one who make this assumption. Judging by your comments. However, you then come back and say he should judge on the issues independently without putting people into good and evil categories. So essentially you answered his question and request, with the same question directed back at him. Which he already answered with his statement. In essence you created a circular argument. That is a big no no. Hopefully you will have something better to say next time.
- oblivinated, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Don't bother. It's all talk anyways. Nobody does ***** these days.
- StarlessKnight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Take note, everyone... remember this when Republicans distance themselves from "Neo-Cons" by calling themselves Conservatives. /sarcasm This game is a double-edged sword, bub, are you really sure you want to play? People don't fit in tiny little boxes you can to label "Good" and "Bad." People are people and they are diverse in nature and belief.
- ClayT2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Working the way up the chain of command from Mr. Gonzales in the direction of El Presidente is muy importante if you think about it. I fully support, and will remember always those Congressmen with the courage to do what is so clearly called for in bringing Mr. Gonzales to justice as his boss is so fond of saying.
- Timetheos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What does that have to do with underlings?
Buried. - MrAllhands, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's about damn time!
- Stormflux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Can't hardly blame him though, when the freaking PRESIDENT has a juvenile us vs. them mentality. That's right. This country is literally being led by someone with the mind of a 10 year old (or at least the public speaking skills of a 10 year old).
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wow. 7 months to get to the point of talking about, talking about searching for a reason to bring an investigation as to whether or not they should have a trial to impeach someone.
Quite the efficient congress you voted in there.
At this rate, they'll bring charges against Bush posthumously. - HippyInASuit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Then we'll add that to the list of impeachable offenses against Bush when we throw him and Cheney out!
- Timetheos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Jay Inslee is the man. He's reps a district very close to mine. I've heard him speak several times, and he is very compelling. I'd like to see him go on to bigger and better thing.
I think Alberto will be impeached by the House, but I doubt he will be convicted by the Senate due to that idiot Lieberman. Repugs in the Senate may even try to filibuster; after all, we know how they like to support corruption. - TunaFishGangsta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Geez, at least someone is doing something.
- hittnrun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Will you democrats tell your house democrats to get to fvcking work and do something for the good of the country and stop trying to get a payback for Arkansas Bill?? The guy lied in your faces and served you a sh!t sandwich which you ate and still eat.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In this case you get pelosi killed. She's next in line and the dems would never let her take office.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Becomes corrupt? IMHO,they are already corrupt!
When they are all impeached my friends and I are throwing a party. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What are they doing? Certainly not the peoples business.
If they had any integrity they would forgo their month long break from doing nothing to follow up on their witch hunt.
But the dems just have to have their priorities. - hittnrun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0YOU would already be swingin' for treason if we were back in the day.
- kanesays, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Impeach Cheney, he is the problem. He and his chief of Staff, David Addington are at the root of this administration's problems: Abu Ghraib, wiretapping, the War in Iraq, torture camps in Europe, and the unpresedented shift in the balance of power away from the legislative branch of government to the executive branch, it's all a Cheney-Addington operation, Bush is a eunuch.
Until Cheney is out, nothing will change. The government should fear the people not the other way around. This must stop. -
