- kward711, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3how is one republican vote bipartisan?
- BREZZZ, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3You must be a mathematician.
- kward711, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3"I get quality healthcare for what I pay. I'm not complaining. The majority of the ones complaining want quality healthcare and not have to pay for it"
or they might not be getting the quality health care they want for what they pay (like me). - inactive, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3A credit to Obama
- a1shahid, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3welcome to health care
- poprocksandsoda, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3Credit to Obama and the Democrats for passing a bill in the House that will not cost us even $1 against the deficit (despite what some in my party claim). I'm confident that by cutting other programs that are non-essential we'll be able to pay for medical coverage for hard working lower-middle/upper-lower class American citizens. Even as a Republican I doubt that Obama or the Pelosi's of the world would ever let criminal illegals get coverage. Obama promised this during a joint session and his reputation and re-election in 2012 is riding on it. I may ride the party line on many things, but health care for all American citizens is a wonderful thing. Let's see if it gets through the Senate though, where big money special interests have lined the pockets of many Dems in power.
I don't think this saves any seats for the Dems or Republicans in 2010 and 2012. I think there will be sweeping changes in Congress regardless. - Malinse, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2you're lying to yourself. Don't do it to me!
- Malinse, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2@rocknog. Excellent points, well made. No easy solution. The insurance companies are cruel tools of profit and the government is full of self-preserving, elitist, cretin scoundrels. What we need is angels of mercy helping the sick and needy. The God-forsaken American government needs to get out of the way and let caring people, especially Real Christians who Jesus commissions to be "religious" by "loving the fatherless and the sick", much the way they did during the "dark ages" when the rest of the world abandoned the poor and dying and stories of self-sacrificing disciple's of Christ abounded.
- BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2His speech talking about the sacrifice the Fort Hood soldiers made and asking the Democrats to make a similar one really put this over the top.

That is the kind of leadership this nation needs right now: someone with the proper perspective, one who won't let one-time short-term news override the larger picture. - DonnyDiamonds, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2We are so lucky to have a great country democracy, not only with health issues but we are entitled to free speach. And allowed to voice our opinions on any subject........ even if we are not correct @
- TLNEditor, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2So then you would agree that Pelosi ramrodded the bill through despite strong bipartisan opposition to it.
As it stands right now, this is the single worst piece of legislation to ever come out of Washington. It will result in hundreds of thousand job losses and further reduce the quality and availability of health care in the US.
It is a tragedy. Not something to be celebrated. - sassykathy464, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Republican congressmen - as well as Democrats LOVE their own gold plated socialist health care plan paid for by taxpayers; they just don't want us to enjoy a similar plan. B/c it's such a fantastic plan with no exclusions for any prior condition NOT a single Repugnant Senator or GOP Representative refuses this governent managed program. Only 2 Democrats have refused it - stating that they would not sign on until a similar plan was available to the taxpayer.
That plan with its fantastic consumer satisfaction is PROOF POSITIVE that we have a UNI-party system of corporate lackeys who have passed an insurance company bailout - it was never intended to benefit the lowly taxpayer. - Malinse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I guess that makes the Republicans more bi-partisan.
- BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1It's both Republican and Democrats. That's bipartisan to me.
- rocknog, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2"Those are hugely bloated, ineffective, costly, and screwed-up systems full of waste, fraud, and abuse."
Yup, sounds very much like the current health insurance industry to me. I don't know whether or not a government option is the solution, but anyone claiming there isn't a problem is full of hot air. The American model of health insurance is fundamentally flawed. Think about it - health insurance is basically a charity wherein the healthy pay for the medical costs of the sick. The problem is you can't run a charity as a for-profit business. Any time the insurance company does its job and covers a medical bill, that cuts into profits.
I ain't saying that we need a government solution. Personally, I would like to see insurance companies run as non-profit - they could still be private entities, but with no profits, they would have more incentive to maximize their services. Point is though, something needs to be done. - BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Who cares how she got the bill through? She got the bill through. Were you complaining about Pelosi and Reid "ramrodding" the TARP program through or it is just when your side doesn't like the bill that it's an issue?
Besides, with the Republicans opposing everything, can you find something that doesn't have "bipartisan" opposition? - Jericho6, on 11/08/2009, -6/+4the current health care system is already hugely bloated, ineffective, costly, and screwed-up. Can't get much worse.
- DavidNiven, on 11/08/2009, -10/+6Pelosi extolled the virtues of this government takeover of the healthcare system by comparing its importance and need to that of Social Security and Medicare programs.
Yeah, as if THOSE government-run programs are worthy of admiration. Those are hugely bloated, ineffective, costly, and screwed-up systems full of waste, fraud, and abuse.
Why should we think that this healthcare program will be any different? - BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -4/+0No person is illegal. If you are in this country, you get free healthcare. Period. That is the kind of right the Founding Fathers fought for.
- DavidNiven, on 11/08/2009, -7/+2I get quality healthcare for what I pay. I'm not complaining. The majority of the ones complaining want quality healthcare and not have to pay for it.
- DonnyDiamonds, on 11/08/2009, -6/+1 Well done for the health system
- BerateBirthers, on 11/08/2009, -7/+0Well done for the Democrats. Got every Democrat on board and even got it to be bipartisan.
