- tbhurst, on 07/18/2009, -3/+39Illinois? Like where Chicago is? Yeah, not exactly a bastion of clean politics.
- nik707, on 07/18/2009, -3/+33I thought Illinois gave up on non-corrupt politics years ago.
- badqat, on 07/18/2009, -2/+27Sadly, I can see the federal government stepping in here. That doesn't need to happen.
The citizens of Illinois will take care of the problem, eventually. - EatingPie, on 07/19/2009, -1/+17And Burris is STILL a senator, even though there's a mass of evidence of his bribery to gain the post. Heck I heard the press ask him "Did you give $14,000 to Blagovich?" He answered, "I don't know exactly how much I donated?"
Now, if he's in place on the *Federal* level, why are we surprised that corruption still abounds at the *State* level?

- Charlotte_Web, on 07/19/2009, -2/+14You forgot the /s.
- XBebop, on 07/19/2009, -1/+13The people of Illinois can't do ***** because the people of Chicago outnumber us.
- stox, on 07/19/2009, -0/+10We have the finest politicians money can buy here in Illinois. I hope to, one day, be able to afford one myself.
- DocDrea323, on 07/19/2009, -1/+10Quinn only wanted reform because he expected Lisa Madigan to run against him for governor and he knew that he couldn't compete with her. Now that she's out of the picture, it's not a big deal because he doesn't think anyone can take him.
Unfortunately, Quinn is more of the exact same politics that's plagued Illinois for years, our current budget situation (or past, since a budget was finally passed) proves that. We need someone to challenge Quinn in the primary that will truly bring change to Illinois politics. - LoneStarLizard, on 07/19/2009, -6/+15Probably harder to attain political reform in Illinois now that their sleazy politics have gone national.
- BionicApple, on 07/19/2009, -0/+9Eh, at least we aren't California.
- malman4, on 07/19/2009, -0/+8Illinoisans are glad he's from Illinois....far from Illinois
- benitojuarez, on 07/19/2009, -1/+8Its not our fault no matter who we elect they are ***** corrupt as *****, the only way we can change is vote out ALL incumbents which would probably ***** ***** up and still 80% of the newcomers will be corrupt within a year
blago, george ryan, judy bar topinka, lisa madigan just some notable examples. - Charlotte_Web, on 07/20/2009, -0/+6You're right, I read that wrong... I must be feeling a touch of dyslexia today.
- XBebop, on 07/19/2009, -4/+10No /s is needed because it's the truth.
- joshwehatetech, on 07/19/2009, -1/+7Do you live in Illinois in particular south of I-80? Nothing to do with geography and everything to do with the truth.
- DLit, on 07/19/2009, -1/+6he's ***** IL over so badly, and I know, cause I live here
- DavidNiven, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6/typical Democrat hack spin on Digg
- FauOz, on 07/19/2009, -0/+5Blogo just got caught doing what all politicians do---broker power--make deals with what is salable
- spriggig, on 07/19/2009, -0/+5The people who are really in power aren't elected. The people who are really in power are always the same. It doesn't matter who we elect.
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/19/2009, -6/+11Haven't you heard? Illinois put one of their own in the White House.
If the federal government gets involved, it will only be to run interference. Obama owes too much to the Illinois political machine. - kolobcreek, on 07/19/2009, -0/+4People deserve the government they have.
- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -2/+6Nice pic. Looks like Blago in a crowded room and contemplating, "Taco Bell not settling well...do I squeak out a several mousy farts or just let all out and blame the guy sitting next to me?"
- cheapdaddy, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3OBVIOUS: Still no cure for cancer or flying cars either.
- elf25, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2yup, until Madigan quits or dies, ain't nutin' gonna change. HE runs the state.
- elf25, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Blogo is an idiot. Everyone who's ever been near him knows it.
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1not really, no
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1chicago is where?
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1even if he was he still learned politics in Chicago
- LouisCipher777, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1ahhh the racist thing.
you wouldnt know real racism if it pulled you out of your car and beat you to within an inch of your life. - 4AntiStupid, on 07/21/2009, -0/+0It's not all bad...they got rid of Blagojevich and Obama.
- GABACALM, on 07/20/2009, -3/+3It doesn't help that the politicans that are really serious about bringing about serious reform end up leaving local politics for the federal level. Obama, Quigley, and now Giannoulias. I mean, if you look at out federal representatives in the past few election cycles, its not hard to believe that good reform would have been accomplished had many of these people stayed in local/state politics.
- omgwtflawl, on 07/20/2009, -1/+1The citizens currently occupying Illinois' cemeteries may have different plans.
- quirkopatra, on 07/20/2009, -1/+1No, we don't. You have to understand that Democrats are so entrenched here that when you vote, you often don't even GET a different option than the Democrat.
People are afraid to run, thinking that they might suffer if they do. - quirkopatra, on 07/20/2009, -1/+1I'm from Illinois. It's sad now. It used to be the Land of Lincoln, now freedom comes here to die.
We can't do anything. Many of us would like an election for a new governor and senator, but we're told there's no money for it.
Quinn is fruit of the poisoned tree. Burris paid to play.
But there's just no recourse for us. We know we're a laughingstock and that the corruption here is so bad it hits average people.
So reform? I want to reform the ***** right out of office. - DavidNiven, on 07/20/2009, -5/+4Where's the birth certificate? Otherwise, it's Kenya for sure.
- ApokalypseNow, on 07/20/2009, -3/+2@DavidNiven
You've seen the birth certificate before - regardless of whether it is called a Certificate of Live Birth or a Birth Certificate, it is, according to Hawaii, a Birth Certificate. As for the difference in naming, "They're just words," said spokeswoman Janice Okubo. "That (what was posted on the Internet) is considered a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii."
"There's only one form of birth certificate," she said, and it's been the same since the 1980s. Birth certificates evolve over the decades, she said, and there are no doubt differences between the way birth certificates looked when Obama was born and now.
"When you request a birth certificate, the one you get looks exactly like the one posted on his site," she said. "That's the birth certificate."
As for the theory that Obama's original birth certificate might show he was foreign-born, Okubo said the "Certification of Live Birth" would say so. Obama's does not. Again, it says he was born in Honolulu.
Source: http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/200 ... - ZenMojo, on 07/19/2009, -5/+3The next person who uses "Chicago Politics" to refer to Illinois State Government gets an F for FAIL in geography. Dumbasses.
That includes newspapers, cable television, and everyone who dugg this guy up.
Hell, Chicago and Springfield are 200 miles from each other. That's a longer car ride than from New York City to Providence Rhode Island with the entire state of Connecticut in the middle. - smacksaw, on 07/19/2009, -4/+2Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's going to be a shame if it comes to that, but I take solace in knowing that it's why we have a federal gov't. If we can't cut it locally, we deserve getting the hammer dropped on us by the US Attorney's office.
If they don't have the will, they're not gonna be happy when they meet the people who do. - BotchaMcCoola, on 07/19/2009, -6/+4It all started with Capone and the Mafia. Should we have invaded and occupied Sicily and Southern Italy back in the day?
- smashTasker, on 07/19/2009, -4/+2Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii...
- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -10/+4I feel like a lot of these comments aren't being dugg down because most of digg doesn't know Obama is from Illinois.
- skinsonheelsup, on 07/20/2009, -7/+0These are all just Rethuglican attacks. Our great President came from this state. This smacks of racism at some level.
- Aero347, on 07/19/2009, -8/+1Does anyone think that pic looks like Peter Griffon?

What is Digg?
