- DrJen, on 04/14/2009, -52/+196The last time I remember these tactics being used to this level was under Nixon.
- richmomz, on 04/14/2009, -53/+171RETURNING WAR VETERANS are being classified as "potential terrorists" by the very government they risked their lives to serve?!!!
How's that for some ***** gratitude!!! - cjsmith87, on 04/14/2009, -68/+184Wow according to homeland security I am a terrorist. 1)I am a libertarian 2)I love ron paul 3)I don't believe in abortion 4)I want lower federal power and higher state power. Damn I should go turn myself in.
- reed311, on 04/14/2009, -15/+124"Some critics have said the DHS is equating conservative views to right-wing terrorism, but a DHS official countered that in January the department issued a mirror intelligence assessment of left-wing extremist groups."
- smotpoker, on 04/15/2009, -13/+85If the federal government was Liberal-dominated, there would be no death penalty and weed would be legal. Democrat != Liberal
- niradg, on 04/15/2009, -28/+94Before September 11th, the largest terrorist attack on American soil was committed by right-wing fanatic Tim McVeigh
- existing, on 04/14/2009, -33/+94Didn't Woodrow Wilson arrest and jail dissidents/agitators? And let's not forget Clinton who, after the OKC bombing, demonized a whole segment of society (conservatives) - and then attributed his second term win, at least in part, to OKC.
- jkash23686, on 04/15/2009, -51/+109wow they dont win an election and they go ape *****
- richmomz, on 04/14/2009, -14/+70So basically EVERYONE is a potential terrorist to the DHS. Great.
- leadfoot, on 04/14/2009, -36/+91It is all about ensuring that those in power remain in power even if they have to demonize, threaten or jail anyone involved in movements that legitimately threaten their continued ability to remain in power. The third party movement must really be threatening them more than I thought. I suspect that there will be more and more restrictions and attacks on any movements that stray away from the two party system
I can see in our future where the Republicrats and Demapublicans join forces to ensure that the two party system remains the only options available to Americans. This would be imperative to insure that the primary agenda of globalization is not hindered or delayed by an eight year side trip with a third party administration. - alais, on 04/14/2009, -39/+93I'm sure if it were a Republican administration targeting liberals; it would be as much a non-event as this appears to be in their eyes, right?
- PeppermintPig, on 04/14/2009, -17/+69Whether or not there were any actual terrorists there, there hasn't been much in the way of due process to figure it out.
- LouisCipher777, on 04/14/2009, -16/+66I'll make sure to wave to you as they are walking me to my cell.
- jadenton, on 04/15/2009, -39/+88Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph. Every cross burning and church bombing of my parents generation. The lynchings of my grandparents generation. This country has a long history of right wingers wrapping themselves in the flag and committing acts of terrorism.
Sounds like DHS is doing it job and keeping America safe. - frode!, on 04/15/2009, -15/+55For eight years the redstate.comers have told us that if people have nothing to hide they shouldn't mind being investigated. They also seemed to believe in a strong unquestionable executive branch.
Wonder if they still think those things. - Semblance, on 04/15/2009, -41/+77Dear jackass conservatives, these are legitimate warnings about terrorist activities on the right. A right-wing ***** just killed three cops in Pittsburgh.
And of course we had Tim McVeigh during the Clinton years. Conservatives absolutely cannot stand being out of power. They go CRAZY! - niradg, on 04/15/2009, -12/+47Don't forget that DHS spied on anti-war groups during the Bush Administration
- shark72, on 04/15/2009, -12/+46I'm frightened that people here are trying to pin this on the current administration when it's well-known that the Bush administration commissioned this report.
Thankfully, even the conservative blogs are doing some mythbusting:

http://strata-sphere.com/blog/index.php/archives/8 ... - diskoh, on 04/15/2009, -27/+61The last time I remember it being used is in 2001 when Bush put out the EXACT SAME DOCUMENT with "left" submitted for "right." It's standard for every administration.
- bluto36, on 04/14/2009, -23/+57when asked to name one of the left wing groups the spokes man could not name any.
- DrJen, on 04/14/2009, -15/+48Indeed. It was the juvenile nature of some of the Acorn pranks, admittedly unrelated to this story, that brought the Nixon back to mind initially. A particularly gross stunt that may have been done around the DNC convention surfaced from the back burner of my memory while reading about recent dirty tricks.
It's been hard to shake since then, and I've found that parallels to be numerous - including the article at hand. - diguptruth77, on 04/15/2009, -7/+39Why does everything have to be partisan? All partisanship does is divide us in half. We need to start doing away with it. The manipulators of the world have something to work with if we continue this partisan division. Soon, they stage the crime, blame it on "conservatives" and everybody gets riled up and so begins the retaliations..."oh please, please Federal government, come take away my liberties so I feel safer!!!"
- Wholekernalcorn, on 04/15/2009, -5/+37I don't mean to rain on the headline hysteria parade... but the CIA...NSA...whatever has files on "left wing radical groups"....This is a sensational story....It makes it look like that the CIA or whatever is just targeting "right wingers". They keep files on every group. They probably have one on DIGG users.
- Strman, on 04/15/2009, -29/+60Chill the ***** out everyone, this is hardly the start of some fascist regime. Seriously, the paranoia coming from the right is beginning to get old.

- kingmanic, on 04/15/2009, -7/+38PETA?
- cmcagle, on 04/15/2009, -10/+40[citation needed]
(Not that I'm a fan of Bush, nor would I be surprised if this were true, but seriously, if you're going to make a claim like this, please back it up with some kind of fact.) - ebolaworld, on 04/15/2009, -14/+43Ummm... They did target liberals.
- Gndoab, on 04/15/2009, -14/+42what gun control laws are they talking about?
they mean the recent DC SCOTUS ruling that said that the government can't deny citizens guns? oh yeah. those are some harsh gun control laws. - omegatrump, on 04/14/2009, -54/+82America's future is held in the balance and those who love this nation and it's foundings are stigmatized with "terrorism", while the real terrorist are ligning up to collect their check.
HS didn't just now come up with this agenda, it was in the pipe line before Obomber got here. - heythere1857, on 04/15/2009, -8/+35Hahaha we'll go in together =)
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -32/+58Bwahahahahaha... Oh man this is priceless. Conservatives spend the past eight years calling us terrorists, like they didn't ***** expect that ***** to blow up in their stupid faces. Normally, I'd have sympathy, but goddamn man, you brought it on yourselves.
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -64/+89This is the beginning of fascism, pure and simple. All the signs are there. http://importantstuffornot.blogspot.com/2009/04/se ...
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 04/15/2009, -3/+28I seriously question the patriotism of hardcore extremists of any ideology.
- oboshoe, on 04/15/2009, -6/+30The article makes reasonable points, but this sort of "home grown terrorist" and "we need gun control" stuff pops up during every Democratic administration.
The Republicans scare us about people from outside our borders.
The Democrats scare us about people inside our borders.
Fear is an amazingly effective political tool. - inactive, on 04/15/2009, -24/+48Timothy McVeigh was a Gulf War vet.
- heythere1857, on 04/15/2009, -10/+33What's your point? Just because Timothy McVeigh was a war vet and an *****, violent right-winger doesn't mean all war vets and right-wingers are like him and will do what he did.
- Soliden, on 04/15/2009, -5/+28I just got back from digging up an article about marijuana decriminalization. Did I miss something?
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -9/+32*****, where were you the past eight years?
- yarcod, on 04/14/2009, -20/+42Really... you think people take you seriously?
- lendrick, on 04/15/2009, -7/+28"The liberals think this is great...they have no idea how fast this could be turned on them."
Not really, no. The vast majority of us crazy ***** liberals are able to step out of our little shells and realize that this ***** is just as bad when it's done to other people as when it's done to us.
I'm assuming, perhaps wrongly, that you had absolutely no concern when liberal groups (greenpeace, etc) were being targeted labelled as terrorists. Mind you, there's a huge urge here to say "we told you so", simply because we ***** did.
But now that that's established, and now that you've seen the same light that we've been seeing for the past 7 years or so, can we start working on stopping it?
P.S. Can you tell I'm pissed? I'm pissed that you're assuming that I would want this, I'm pissed that it was done to me, I'm pissed that you didn't give a *****, and I'm pissed that the people who I had *hoped* were above this sort of ***** are doing it to you. - maz2331, on 04/15/2009, -11/+30McVeigh wasn't a Republican, he was an ultra-radical libertarian (not Libertarian party).
And the bombing was itself a direct retaliation for the "gun fight at that church in the 90's" in Waco.
Stupidly ham-handed law enforcement actions can cause blowback. Most is political and rational, but we can never discount the irrational element, either. - zephyear, on 04/15/2009, -30/+49enjoying the hell out of the paranoid right wing right now.
read freerepublic and stormfront erryday and laugh and laugh. - charlie6969, on 04/15/2009, -17/+35From FOX news......hilarious!
- Zomgondo, on 04/15/2009, -13/+31I remember it happening a lot under Clinton. Unfortunately there are a bunch of morans in this country who are absolutely convinced that Democrats hate America and are preparing us for to be taken over by the great Socialist conspiracy, so every time you get a Democrat in office you get a nice spike in domestic terrorism to go with it.
- imautobot, on 04/15/2009, -18/+36I was terrorized by having a president who perpetuated fear. Now with a president I believe in I am terrorized by those who liked living in fear. A terrorist is a terrorist, last 8 years it was Muslims, next 4-8 years it's Christians. I don't know jack about Islam, but I do know the current state of Christianity would make Jesus puke.
- emkaysmith, on 04/15/2009, -15/+32"actual terrorists"? So, you have secret proof of this accusation that no one else in the freaking world has seen? You can go around calling anyone you like a terrorist, if you're not required to produce evidence or to prosecute the case in court. The fact that Bush & Co. label someone a "terrorist" doesn't mean a goddamn thing.
- mirunit, on 04/15/2009, -4/+21To people who support abortion:
Do you also support trying people for double murder if they kill a pregnant woman?
There is a precedent for the latter. I have asked a few people who support abortion this question and they respond, yes - however I guess I do not understand the logic there. Personally I do not really care what irresponsible people do with their kids, but regardless, it is pretty obvious that a fetus will become a full-grown human in time; to call something not human because it isn't 'done' yet is sort of retarded. - inactive, on 04/14/2009, -18/+34No Libs...seriously, now is not the time for your stupidity. Are you pro-life? Are you a registered Republican? Do you believe in free speech? THEN YOU ARE AN EXTREMIST! This isn't about Ron freaking Paul. Get over it.
