Hersh on CNN: 'Bush will hit Iran to 'protect' US troops'

rawstory.com — The only thing different about the Bush Administration's rhetoric about Iran and statements made Iraq before the US invasion in 2003 are the words chosen, says journalist Seymour Hersh. "Instead of... hitting the various [nuclear] facilities we know that exist, instead they're going to hit the Iranians as payback for hitting us [in Iraq]," he said.

  • inactive, on 10/17/2007, -18/+116The sweet irony is, by this logic, Iranian forces will invade the occupied Iraq to destroy the US troops and private armies (Blackwater, deserving the fate) and pulverize State of Israel with the torrent of missiles and mines.

    And the big clinch is there's Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Russia and China will not stand idly by.

    World War III is a very real possibility, and this time USA and Israel ARE the bad guys.

    However, it appears we've only been fighting wars to preserve a way of fighting more wars and isolating ourselves from the rest of the world.

    When will it end?

    When will Americans realize that these wars aren't engineered with the interest of preserving freedom (see The Patriot Act, The death of Habeas Corpus (HR 6166), and NSPD51), rather they're designed to rebuild the military industrial complex, secure a geopolitical foothold over a foreign region and its natural resources, replace American Sovereignty with the North American Union, and advance an agenda that seeks to establish globalization by way of unilateral force rather than peaceful change.

    We are on the verge of something major.
    I hope everybody is awake and prepared.

    Please do yourself a favor and look at what the foundling fathers stated about our country and how they expected it to be run, then do yourself another favor and look at how things are done today. And you, along with those currently in office (democrat or republican) deserve to be brought up on charges of treason and the violating the Constitution.

This country was built to question itself and the intentions of those in control, to do anything less is to be an Anti-American.

    Now I understand that you probably see no fault with your comments, but remember, those currently in power see no fault in what they have done in IRAQ, and what they are posturing themselves to do in IRAN. That will be the down fall of this country. When we make this a "them vs us" in our OWN country, we are going the way of the Romans and any society that sits back and allows that to happen, deserves what comes to it.

There's a general recognition that the public doesn't support this war, or anything really that the American government is doing right now. 1,000 people just tried to serve a citizen's arrest on Bush. Contrary to the media-blackout, more people have protested this guy than any other leader in the history of humanity. If Bush tries to start another war, with such obvious apocalyptic overtones, I have a feeling he will find he has stretched too far. And I wouldn't be surprised if the first reaction came from within the military, with soldiers (and maybe even a few officers with a conscience) refusing to execute their orders -- just as they would be morally obligated to.

Failing to get American support behind their *****, the administration is toning down their rhetoric to something they can get more Americans to believe and is just going to go in guns blazing and let things shake out in the end. The irony is that Iran poses no threat to the United States at all, and is nothing but an obstacle to US control of Iraq.

    It was never about defense. It was always about power, and the administration is showing it quite clearly.
