- jdubhub, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The gun grabbers claim the National Guard (created in 1916) is really what the Founders intended be the militia in the Second Amendment (ratified in 1791). Aside from their faulty, anachronistic logic, where has the National Guard been for the past four years? Iraq and Afghanistan. We can only assume that they will be in Iran this time next year. Since the California National Guard is supposed to be at the disposal of the California Governor, who is supposed to be here in California maintaining the peace in times of crisis or natural disaster?
We the people with our trusty helpers Smith and Wesson. Why is it that the gun grabbers have such a problem understanding such simple logic?
Perhaps more important, either we have own ourselves or we do not. If we do own ourselves, which is the essence of personal liberty and freedom, we don't need politicians in Sacramento or Washington telling us whether we can have firearms or not. If we do not own ourselves, which is the essence of ANY form of government created by Man, then we should be "good citizens" and listen to the politicians in Sacramento and Washington. I choose to live free. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is a ***** joke. The 2nd Amendment doesn't allow for the seizure of firearms. Why the ***** is this so difficult to understand? It's time to start handing our guns in bullets first if they really want them that badly.

Given that thought - I would suspect that the Founders would have thought it would be SILLY for an American NOT be armed and able to protect himself or herself from pretty much any criminal harm...
