- EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -5/+127FTA: "It was Griffin who directed the “caging” ops for the GOP. Caging, by the way, is illegal. Law Professor Bobby Kennedy pointed out it violates the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — and I’d add, as a former racketeering investigator, mail fraud statutes. So Griffin’s a felon — now U.S. Attorney."
Griffin is also the Rove op who slipped the provision into the PATRIOT act without the chairman of the committee even knowing that allowed [surprise!] Griffin to be permanently confirmed without Congressional approval (after 90 days, it was supposed to go to a vote, but not now...).
This is the same provision that Gonzales said he'd never use. Well, he used it. And Griffin -- a felon, a rove op, and an opportunist -- is now USA for Arkansas and we can't seem to remove him. He's primed and ready to go for '08.
Palast is totally right. This isn't about the 8 fired. It's about the 85 who didn't get fired any why they're being kept on -- to do even more "investigations" of Democrats right before the next election, and to keep Republican's off the hook.
This is exactly why it's so wrong for the DOJ to become politicized. It's got to be unraveled immediately or we may have no country left to defend. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -23/+123Anybody remember President Kerry in the debates?
...and how he left that child behind right in front in all of America.
Remember how Presidential and distinguishing the war veteran looked as he waved to the crowd with his arms around his wife and daughters after he proved to Americans that a child left behind was running the country? And then remember how embarrassed the awol, coke, snortin' drunk child left behind looked as his stepford wife and two skank whore kids quickly exited off the stage.
Then remember how American's were screwed out of their vote by Diebold and a few special interests corporate interest groups.
Remember that? Remember how Americans lost their country that night?
There is one single reason for a seemingly Republican majority: Diebold.
Remember this: exit polling was NEVER a theoretical science before 2004; it was absolutely rock-solid dependable, and never wrong. In 2004, all of a sudden, exit polling became a dubious science. Total bullsh*t.
The vote was rigged. Most people didn't want these bastards in power. Why do you think it took such a short time for the Bushies to be so hated? Easy. They were never liked.

- hikaruzero, on 10/11/2007, -8/+74"I actually did read what he said, and I personally followed a large number of the close races in key areas -- that the Republicans lost. Of all the races that CNN considered key, the Republicans won a whopping 1 seat from Tennessee."
And do you know why they only won 1 seat? Because they didn't anticipate how much they'd have to rig the elections.
When you rig an election, the goal is not to win "by a landslide" -- that makes it blatantly obvious. The goal is to win by as narrow a margin as possible. Why do you think Bush "won" over Al Gore so narrowly in 2000? Why do you think Bush "won" over Kerry so narrowly in 2004? Do you really believe the country is THAT split apart in mentality?
They tried again to rig the elections *barely* in their favour in 2006, but they didn't rig them enough to actually win most of those seats. They didn't anticipate how much backlash the population would have against Bush's war. They rigged *and lost*, which is dually disgraceful. - wreckosaurus, on 10/11/2007, -6/+70Awesome video, everyone here should watch that

- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -5/+61I've posted this before but people are bringing up Ohio again so yet again it seems relevant.
I lived in Ohio during the 2004 election and every time something about that election and that state comes up on digg I'm surprised how little information seems to have gotten beyond state lines.
There WAS election fraud committed during the 2004 election in Ohio. There is no question. Ken Blackwell was the Chief Elections official and the honorary co-chair of the "Committee to re-elect George W. Bush" during the 2004 election. (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Blackwell) and repeatedly made efforts (which were very successful) to disenfranchise voters and discount ballots. See the section on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Blackwell#Involvement_in_the_2004_U.S._presidential_election_controversy
Apart from Blackwell's clear (read: proven in a court of law) attempts to stand in the way of a democratic election there was the faked FBI warning which election officials used as an excuse to prevent people from observing the vote counts in Warren County (see: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/11/10/loc_warrenvote10.html).
On top of all that there were statistical anomalies which are in the realm impossibility when looking at the results county by county. (see http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10432334/was_the_2004_election_stolen)
Ohio is a "battleground" state. The southwest is extremely red while the northeast is blue. It is all together possible the election would have gone to Bush anyway but there was DEFINITELY fraud taking place in that state. - 4bit, on 10/11/2007, -4/+59@DirkBelig
Having a bunch of people say "You're wrong. Get over it." isn't proof.
Having a bunch of emails, verified, that suggest the worst, is.
Having that proof be in line with what most of us have been saying is just bonus.
The liberal reaction is natural anytime Government decides to close itself off and hide what it's doing. This is the most closed admin in recent history. It makes people nervous when thier leaders don't feel they can be open with them. - mrgreen4242, on 10/11/2007, -6/+55"Entropy - The Republicans rigged the 2006 election........so that the Democrats could take control of the House and Senate? Wow, they are truly devious"
Actually, they rigged it in a few places in order to minimize the 'damage'. Find the close races, tip them in favor of their candidate, keep an extra seat... There wasn't any way for them to steal the whole thing without it being really obvious, so they just used the same tricks from 2000 and 2004 to minimize their losses.
Maybe you should read what Palast has to say. I'd never heard of him until yesterday when I read an interview with him. He's right on the money, and seems to have not only the courage to stand behind it, but the evidence as well. - destinyland, on 10/11/2007, -12/+59I think the 2006 elections prove the tremendous unpopularity of both the Iraq War and George Bush.
Apparently all that Republican voter fraud still couldn't stop them from losing Senate races in six different swing states. - jellygraph, on 10/11/2007, -1/+48And why aren't the Dems doing anything about it? Or is there some truth to the suspicion that many of them won't do anything, because they may be in on it or getting some political convenience out of it?

um...care to substantiate that claim? I've been following Palast's work for years, and I've never heard anyone (who wasn't actively fending off his allegations) suggest that he's lied about anything. He's perceived as being partisan, but no one who read his (rightfully) savage coverage of Bill Clinton when he was in power would concur.

- NccWarp9, on 10/11/2007, -9/+39What D ***** Is Wrong With U people over there.
This administration is pushing for self-destruction and along with it the rest of western civilization.
Every now and then Americans are saying if we go Under so does Europe and the rest of the western civilization.
THIS IS NOT TRUE, if America goes down Europe will stand even better than today as it is suppressed by religious stupidity and just plain old stupidity from the All mighty America.
When will U people wake up and do something about it, REVOLT, PROTEST, ORGANIZE, and not only bitch about it.
America has lost all that it hold dear. It is no longer the land of the free, it no longer tolerates opposing views and has biased media, and religion is influencing political decision, and so on.
On the other hand, Europe is an example how countries that were at war with each other for most of their history can work together. And it is quite possible that Europe will be the next western leader. We know how to talk to eastern civilizations; we did trade with them from the beginning of recorded history.
Im sorry for the language but I can’t stand it any longer, such obvious lies, deception and nothing, NOTHING. This American president should not be impeached; he should be set to Guantanamo. - chicaneuk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30I feel truely sorry for the honest politicians in America (i'm sure there must be some!) trying to break out of this deep deep corruption.. I just can't understand how all this is going on and being reported by the less well known news agencies, yet is getting largely ignored by the main stream press. Its scary.
- hikaruzero, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29"Just so I understand... if an election is a landslide victory, as could be considered for 2004 with Bush vs. Kerry, it's an example of rigging the election. If an election is a narrow victory, it's also an example of rigging the election, just so it looks like you didn't rig it. Then, if an election is a loss, it's an even better example of rigging because you're being too sneaky about it and didn't rig it enough.
Uh huh... Out of curiosity, and purely Devil's Advocate, would that logic not also point to the Democrats rigging every election in the last 20 years? Then again, even better question, has there ever been an election that hasn't been rigged, except the ones in Venezuela and Iraq pre-2003?"
I'd think you were being smart were it not for the devil's advocate comment. :)
But let me answer:
The 2004 presidential election was not a landslide victory. It was a victory by less than 2%, but more than 1%, which is the cutoff point for demanding a recount.
Aside from that, both narrow elections in 2000 and 2004 have SOLID PROOF that they were rigged. Why do we not hear about the repercussions of it? Because Congress has never gotten around to hearing the full proof. It's been filibustered and buried and told to wait yet another 60 beyond 60 days for some random committee to review the data and file some report which, ironically, has been delayed by some other 60 day mandatory waiting period.
The layers of red tape are so thick it reminds me of that sick movie where red tape is the only thing that the aliens from another frequency (i.e. liberals) can't get through -- what was that one called again?
Those elections are all but forgotten.
Either way, there is ALSO proof that the 2006 election was rigged. In fact, a programmer appeared before a committee to testify about how he was APPROACHED to create such a program for Diebold for use during the elections. Just search old Digg articles for the video.
And I'm not saying Democrats don't rig elections -- although it's pretty obvious that the extent that they might do such a thing is nowhere near the Republicans -- for you see the Democrats are spineless too. Hell they bowed down to Bush to let us stay in Iraq. That's not MY party talking there, even though they like to claim that they are.
"omatsei - Prepare to get dugg down, that was hilarious, totally true, and logical"
It would be logical if it wasn't one of the most narrow views of the situation.
It's logical in the same sense that "killing others is wrong" -- and then including self-defense into that statement.
But life isn't black and white like that. I only accuse them of rigging the elections because there is PROOF that they rigged the elections and because people have testified that they've been ASKED to rig the elections. Not because "they won by less than 1%".
I also accuse them of it because I care about my country. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. And so does anonymity. :) - BlackCat, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30Keep disbelieving and you won't get hurt! Move along America, your country has been hijacked. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
- R34C7, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28It saddens me when people cite the false dichotomy of political party as a hinging point to their arguments. I wonder if at the end of the day some of these democrats/republicans realize that we are all Americans and the truth does not have a bias.
Continue to bicker along party lines and fail to formulate informed opinions of your own and America will go the way of the Romans. As was cited in the video above, required education was signed into law so that voters would be educated enough to vote as informed parties. If all voters are like some of you, they may have been right in attempting to keep voting from the people.
Edit: DarkBelig you epitomize what I describe. - Room101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27So why doesn't he release the e-mails? - iDragonFly, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30See what I mean?
Here is one of those operative/trolls that I referred to previously.
The more important the original message, the more operative/trolls. - Novagenesis, on 10/11/2007, -7/+30REVOLT, and you will be subdued by force.
PROTEST, and you will be ignored. (a lot more people march at EVERY march for peace than were at the "million man march", yet not a one appears on the news).
ORGANIZE, and you'll be caught in the first stages and executed for conspiracy to commit treason.
No, those options do not exist. Further, society is made stable by our corrupt government to prevent us from being able to think about it in everyday life.
I don't have -time- to revolt, I have a career that makes my life decent. The government doesn't touch me in the everyday, and if I stop my career to revolt and protest, I lose the things that make me have enough money to revolt and protest. In the end, I lose. - maestroh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23if nothing shady's goin on here then why did the emails disappear in the first place? People like you defy logic on a daily basis. You refuse to look at anything with an open mind. When I read this article I approached it openly. Am I convinced? Not 100%. But based on this administration's track record you have to admit that it's at least possible.
How come everything is so black & white with people who watch fox news? Ever ask yourself that question? - hikaruzero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21And also, another reason why nobody is going ***** over the rigging of the 2006 elections is because the people who rigged it lost anyway.
I play some competitive video games and generally it's still regarded as a victory when someone cheats and you still kill them. :) So it really isn't even a big deal, but that doesn't change the facts from what they are. - knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22I pledge allegience to the Constitution of the United States of America.
- iDragonFly, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20"Why aren't these people being tried for treason?!"
Good question.
In fact, I think it's the sort of question that should be raised loudly and repeatedly. - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20I'll take a stab at explaining how this rigging thing works. Maybe it'll help.
If a local election is close, no one will notice a few thousand extra votes cast for the GOP.
If a local election is not going to be close, the amount of rigging necessary to win becomes noticeable, and is therefore less likely.
So if the Dems are really going to win, as they did in 2006, no "reasonable" amount of rigging will help the GOP.
Now, If a national election is a "landslide" this could be the result of many close elections tipping in one direction. Remember that one need only win 51% of the vote in most districts to gain that electoral seat. So 51% everywhere = landslide. But 51% in a local election = close. This is how Bush won in 2000 and 2004. There were enough small nudges to give Bush the electors he needed. And in 2004, they fixed it so that he would get the popular vote too. They ***** that up the first time.
The only exception to this is when a candidate is so far ahead, that no rigging will work. In that case, they do other things first, like creating a media storm against their opponent, big enough that no one really knows on election day if 51% of the people didn't suddenly change their view from the previous six months of polling. - VitriolAndAngst, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Palast did give the emails to certain authorities.... what we are seeing with the Gonzales and Monica Goodling trial right now is "enough rope to hang 'em" -- they let them lie as much as they can -- THEN they bring out the emails.
It's a perjury trap. So, this may also explain all the "I can't recall" statements -- because otherwise they'd be throwing out a lot of BS. They know that the Dems know something -- the just don't know WHICH 500 emails that Palast got. So, not letting them know what they have makes them totally unsure and off balance for covering their butts.
Brilliant! - iDragonFly, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22Maybe because some of our troops are beginning to wake up?

They denied Rendition, Torture policy, and Gulags.
9/11 LHOP or MHOP .... in my opinion, only a matter of time -- but does it matter? When you look at everything else? Look at the 1 Million dead, 1 million refuges, and 2 million internally displaced in Iraq... then add all the deformed kids from Depleted Uranium. Anyone looking at the ruin of Iraq is going to say; "war crimes."
Then there are many cases of direct war profiteering -- also an alleged conspiracy.
NSA spying -- turns out not to have been a delusion by paranoid liberals.
